WDS losing config.

some of the WDS in my wireless network loose thier client config every once in a while and users cannot authenticate untill i reconfigure. why?

Ensure that the mobility network-id command is not enabled on the Cisco Access Point (AP) if it serves as the Wireless Domain Services (WDS) device. The mobility network-id command is used for Layer 3 (L3) mobility, and the AP configured as a WDS cannot provide L3 mobility. This command must only be enabled when a Wireless LAN Services Module (WLSM) is used to provide WDS. A WLSM must be the WDS device to properly configure L3 mobility.

  • 2602 lightweight AP losing config on reboot

Anyone encountered an issue with the 2602E access points losing config everytime they lose power?
I have a 5508 WLC running 7.4.121.0 code and two 2602E Flexconnect access points that everytime they lose power they default their configuration. The APs are located at a remote site connected via MPLS and are configured for FlexConnect with local switching. The 2602Es will re-associate with the WLC since the DHCP option 43 points them to it, they just show up with the default config.
I have three 2602E models at the site but only two of them are doing this, the third comes back up and associates and has retained its configuration. I also have several 1142 models at the site and they behave normally.

There are no secondary controllers, just the primary. These two access points lose all configuration, name, ap group, flexconnect group, flexconnect setting, everything. Its like they are new out of the box and associating for the first time. I have a third 2602E located att the same site and have tested it via power reset and reboots and it retains all config. Both the AP that retains its info and the two that dont are all running the same code/boot version/etc. I cant see any difference in their configuration.

  • Catos 7.4. losing config after reload

    Hello,
A customer is having the following problem on severals sites.
After a reload, some cat6000-sup1a-withoutMSFC and some cat2948G all running release 7.4.3 lose some part (not all) of the configuration, after a reload.
Sometime the vlan configuration vanished, some other time the SNMP configuration disappeared.

I found no bug on the bug tools or on the RN for 7.4.x.

  • Cisco WAP 321 found bug that causes loss of config

I have been setting up a WAP 321 which has been unable to retain it's settings across reboots.
What I have found is that if I leave the Timezone set to USA (Pacific) the WAP 321 can be rebooted without losing config, but as soon as I set the timezone to United Kingdom the next reboot will cause the device to take a long time to reboot and will have then gone back to factory default setings.
To help me determine if I have a faulty unit, does any one else have one they'd be willign to set to United Kingdom timezone & reboot to see if you get the same results?

    Hi Tom,
It seems the exact same problem, described in diferent ways.
For me even if i configure a different management IP and after that reboot the system, the system take much time too boot and my laptop lan interface keeps goind "connected, disconnected, connected, disconnected..." until i turn off the access point off and turn it on again after about 10 seconds.
When it boots is in factory default settings.
When i'm configuring the access point on Safari Browser on a Mac laptop, i have no problem at all. I can change everything and reboot every time i want without losing my configurations.
The problem is only when i'm configuring on a windows laptop with IE9 or Google Chrome.
I will send you an e-mail with my CCOID, serial number of the access point and this description.
Note that this is the second Cisco WAP321 that we have received with the exact same symptom. We have returned the first one and received the second one with the same problem.
    Best regards,
    Vitor Oliveira.

  • FastEthernet interface keeps losing the trunk config

So we have FA0/13 configured to use our Aerohive wirless. But for the past week its been losing the turnk config and I have no idea why. Heres the config we have in the 3550 switch for that interface. This interface is trunked to all of our VLANs
    interface FastEthernet0/13
    switchport access vlan 100
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 100
    switchport mode trunk
    no ip address
    spanning-tree portfast
Any ideas as to why it keeps dropping the config?
    Thanks

    Mike
I don't know why it is doing it (maybe a bug) but i would modify the config ie.
    1) if it is a trunk remove the "switchport access .." line
    2) if you are sure it cannot create a loop then you should change "spanning-tree portfast" to "spanning-tree portfast trunk".
If you are not sure then there should be no portfast command on that port.
    Then see if this helps.

  • GUI v CLI config and WDS question

    Hello-
I am attempting to deploy a wireless network. I have purchased two 1242Gs and one 1310G WAPs. My goal is to have a WPA V1 protected network utilizing WDS to allow seemless roaming at the location, with a second SSID for guest access that is directed to the gateway. It would be nice if this had a WPA pw also. The 1310 is external to the building where the other two 1242s are. I have attached configuration examples for each. One of my problems is I have to allow support for a legacy Crestron TPMC-10 media controller which is very picky about how its WiFi radio works. Crestron recommends these config lines:
    guest-mode
    mbssid dtim-period 10
    speed basic-1.0 2.0 5.5 6.0 9.0 11.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0
no preamble-short ! CE devices only support Long Preamble
    channel 2462 ! channel 1,6 0r 11 only |
station-role root ! only one AP may host the SSID intended for TPMC-10
    connectivity.
    beacon dtim-period 3
no dot11 qos mode ! QOS negatively effects CE connectivity
no dot11 extension AIRONET ! AIRONET extensions negatively effects CE
    connectivity
    http://support.crestron.com/cgi-bin/crestron.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3826&p_created=1146514905&p_sid=KHEUTLVi&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MTgsMTgmcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0wJnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9YW5zd2Vycy5zZWFyY2hfZm5sJnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9Q2lzY28gV1BB&p_li=&p_topview=1
I have read that using the GUI versus the CLI will leave artifacts and other commands not required for operation. Wondering on other's opinions of this and also any recommendations on how to simplify the config files.
I have attempted to create config files using the CLI examples provided by Crestron but that tends only allow the Crestron to connect and not laptops.
    Any ideas/suggestions are appreciated.

I would suspect that the servlet is getting reloaded because the servlet
classloader has changed. This can happen because some other servlet .class
file was changed in dev mode thus causing the entire servlet classloader to
be bounced. But its strange that the reload of the servlet doesnt re-read
              the config.
How is the config info stored? is it stored in the context?

  • AirPort Express losing connection to the internet when part of WDS

    Hi,
I have an AirPort Extreme Baste Station (802.11n) and an AirPort Express Base Station. I have set the Express to extend the wireless signal via WDS. However, after a while the internet connection seems to drop. My computer still tells me I have full signal, and AirPort utility reports no problems, but there just isn't a connection to the internet! If I turn off the Express and then turn off AirPort on my computer, and turn it back on again, I can access the weak Extreme signal.
This is very frustrating. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to what the problem could be?
    Thanks very much.

I had been experiencing the same problem -- Airport Express extending an Aiport Extreme N base station via WDS constantly dropping the connection, but still showing solid green on the LED. I'm also using the WPA/WPA2 Personal encryption scheme over the whole network, and don't want to use no encryption at all or use WEP (which is pretty much the same as no encryption at all).
Anyway, I seem to have found a solution that works on my system at least. After I made the change outlined below, my connection has been up and running for 5 days now after losing the connection about once every 3 hours or so before that:
    1. Open the Aiport Utility, click on the AEXN base station, and click Manual Setup.
    2. Click the Advanced icon in the toolbar.
    3. Click the IPv6 tab.
    4. From the IPv6 drop-down menu, select Link-local only.
    5. Click Update.
The AEXN base station will restart with the new settings. You may also have to unplug the Airport Express WDS remote, and plug it back in after the AEXN base station has restarted.
You also might want to change the radio channel on both the base station and the Airport Express to use channel 11.

  • Losing signal between WDS stations when Time Capsule backing up

I have the most odd problem and I can't figure it out.
    Summary:
I have a WDS network set up using three Apple Airport routers. They work perfectly and internet signal and signal between routers is fine. However, as soon as Time Capsule begins to backup, the wifi signal between two other routers (also within this WDS network) slows to a crawl and essentially disabling me from getting to the internet. This ONLY happens when Time Capsule's internal hard drive is backing up with Time Machine.
    *Device Details*
I have three Apple Airport routers:
    a) Airport Extreme (the older space ship model that only runs on G or B)
    b) Airport Express (the older model that runs only on G or B)
    c) Time Capsule (the older model that runs a single G, B, or N network. No multiple networks)
This is how the WDS network is set up:
*dsl <==> Extreme (main) <-> Express (relay) <-> Time Capsule (remote) <-> laptop*
dsl modem is wired to the Extreme. Everything else is connected by wifi signal
    Problem
This WDS network setup works and I do not have problems accessing the internet until my laptop (MacBook Air) activates Time Machines and backsup on the Time Capsule. As soon as that happens, the speed rate between the Extreme and Express drop dramatically. That's right! The speed rate between the Extreme and Express drops dramatically to a rate of 1Mbps (according to Airport Utility) rendering it impossible to access the internet using this network. Meanwhile, the Time Machine backup is going well at a very fast speed. The signal rate between Express and Time Capsule is normal.
Here is a schematic diagram of the connection that has problem (marked with XX) when the Time Capsule hard drive is running:
*dsl <==> Extreme (main) <XX> Express (relay) <-> Time Capsule (remote) <-> laptop*
I do not know why the speed rate between Extreme and Express would drop. Why should the hard drive of the Time Capsule be affecting the signal rate two routers down? It is not even directly connected to the connection between Extreme and Express.
Anyone have any idea what is going on? Is this an indication that my Time Capsule is dying? Or, that somehow the hard drive when working creates serious interference such that router signal is affected? If so, it is still odd that the router signal between Time Capsule and Express is not affected.
    _*Actions Taken*_
I have spent many hours trying to solve this problem. Actions I have tried:
    • disable wireless client access to all routers EXCEPT Time Capsule. I was thinking maybe somehow the MacBook Air was connecting to multiple routers when the backup was taking place.
    • decrease signal strength of Extreme to 50%. I was thinking maybe the signal of the Extreme was somehow getting messed up with the signal of the Time Capsule and thus affecting the connection between Extreme and Express.
    • set network to run as b/g compatible mode, and g only mode. Makes no difference. Connection between Extreme and Express goes down when Time Capsule hard drive is backing up
    • change the name of the WDS network to something different. Makes no difference
    • turn off MacBook Air wifi and directly connect it to Time Capsule by USB ethernet. When back up happens, there is apparently no interference and I can continue to use the internet. So somehow, backing using wifi from MacBook Air to Time Capsule is creating interference between the other two routers. Makes no sense, but it is what I observe.
    • oh yeah, I've also hit the Time Capsule a few times and banged the Express a couple time in hopes that a little bit of thuggish threat would straighten up these two imbeciles. No go. They won't listen
Okay folks! IF you have gotten through this far in my message, you deserve a gold star and a membership in the Last Supper Club. Please help if you have any ideas what I should try besides throwing the Express and Extreme and replacing them with something that runs on N.
    =======================
P.S. I should say that I've used this setup for over a year and never a problem until well, yesterday.

Here is another oddity, when my other laptop, a MacBook Pro 15" (first generation) activate Time Machine and backs up to the same Time Capsule, it DOES NOT lead to the degradation of wifi signal! I can still access the internet without problem.
Now I'm wondering if this is something about my MacBook Air.
Note that both machines are running 10.6.2. My 15" MBP is a first generation and so the highest wifi speed it does is G speed.

  • Wds config

Hi all, I have wds configured on my 1242 acces points, I can see on 2 of them, they are configured with "use this AP as wireless domain services" ticked and a priority of 250 and 255 on the other. However the other access points do not have this configured, they only have "enable in swan infrastructure" enabled.
Does this mean, 2 of the ap's are acting as a kind of server for the other ap's, and on the other non wds ap's we only need to enable wds discvery and credentials etc ?

You are correct... here is a link explaining the configuration and setup.

  • Fix for X-grid agents losing their config across reboots??

    Hello,
We have a podcast producing system with 5 servers, 3 of which are Xgrid agents,
and one of the others is the Xgrid controller. Sometimes we need to reboot some
of the machines, and when we do the whole Xgrid set up goes. We need to go in to
XGrid Admin, remove the agents, and re-add them, then log in to each agent, and start/configure Xgrid to find/join the XGrid again. Even though Xgrid is set as a service on these Xgrid agents, and they were previously configured. All XServers
are running 10.5.5. Is this normal, or how do others manage to keep their Agents
in the Grid across reboots? Thanks - Paul

screw it.. i dunno... bad drivers, that's what i'm accounting it to. Nobody seems to know what the problem is anymore.
With that said, the card works wonderfully now =D
Someone on this board mentioned some third party drivers, so I went and found them. I had no troubles installing and have had no troubles with the drivers
since their installation a few days ago.
These drivers are not supported nor created by Creative (as far as I know). Use the drivers at your own risk.
First, go to this address and read up on their drivers and how to install and what not. All the posts you should care about are sticked, so read the stickies!

I noticed that the links to their drivers are lousy/don't work. Some nice person went and hosted all their files on a different site.
    http://hosted.filefront.com/robertmc84
Be very cautious when downloading their drivers from filefront. The host has numerous old versions up and the file names aren't always 00% copy/paste from
the YouP Pax site, so be certain you have the right file before downloading/installing.
READ THE STICKIED INSTALLATION GUIDE! Same thing as with the installing Creatives' drivers, if you don't completely uninstall former drivers, bad things happen.
