I am trying to install DPM 2010 on Windows 2008 R2.  Running through installation and the server that I'm installing DPM to will also host the SQL instance and Reporting instance.  Pretty much choosing all the defaults.
Installation gets to reporting portion and fails.  It says that I need to verify that Reporting Services is running.   The exact error is:
Data Protection Manager installation has failed. To return the server to its original state, you must uninstall Data Protection Manager by using Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. This will remove all files and components copied during installation.

It is running and working, I can go to the URL and see Reports installed.   It grabbed a server certificate which is valid and binds that to 443.  I have tried this as well with the certificate removed.

    Hello,
The real problem is the error UnableToConfigureAccount and *** Mojito error was: PasswordTooShort; 0; None
The reason is due to the new password complexity on Windows 2008 which states the following:
    Password must meet complexity requirements
This security setting determines whether passwords must meet complexity requirements.
If this policy is enabled, passwords must meet the following minimum requirements:
Not contain the user's account name or parts of the user's full name that exceed two consecutive characters
Be at least six characters in length Contain characters from three of the following four categories:
English uppercase characters (A through Z)
English lowercase characters (a through z)
    Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
    Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)
Complexity requirements are enforced when passwords are changed or created.
    Default:
    Enabled on domain controllers.
    Disabled on stand-alone servers.
Note: By default, member computers follow the configuration of their domain controllers.
Please use a more secure password adhering to the above criteria and DPM should install fine.

  • How do I install windows and bootcamp on my macbook Air

I need to install Windows and Bootcamp on my macbook Air, due to a software tool a customer needs that only runs on windows.
The initial instructions say I cannot do this with a remote DvDplayer,

  • Hi, I have macbook Pro, running Leopard OS X. I partitioned my hard drive a while ago to install windows and only allowed myself 10 Gig of data. Anyway, i deleted windows and want another OSX on there instead. How do i make this partition bigger please??

Hi, I have macbook Pro, running Leopard OS X. I partitioned my hard drive a while ago to install windows and only allowed myself 10 Gig of data. I deleted windows after i realised i wasnt enjoying using it at all and wasted my hard drive. I now decided that i want another OSX on there instead yet i have only allowed myself 10 gb on the partition. I have ben thru some programms but am struggling on making this partition bigger.
I only want it at 20gb but cant seem to make the partition bigger, only smaller or split it into further partition.
Is there a way to do this, i have all installation discs from original OSX so think this could help.
Any help please would be fantastic.
    Thanks Chris

Hi, dragging the partition will only make smaller, not larger. In disk utility you can only split or make smaller the partitions. Yes i booted from installation disks also but still no help.
And Brody, I am willing to erase the disc completely, infact jus started doing a backup in order to do so but that failed also. And the information you gave on partition a hard drive, Although very simple and i already know how to do this, but it wont let me make the partition bigger, and i dont want to make a new partition, just enlarge the one i already have, which i dont see possible from disk utility.
Getting really frustrated now, even backing up is saying no to me. **** external being a douche.
I dont mind erasing the hard drive but surely this must be doable without deleting the secondary partition back t a single volume, and re partitioning into 2 volumes again.
    Thanks again

  • I installed Windows and Mac OS

I installed Windows and Mac OS
have installed on my macbook, windows 7 and Mac OS, but the Mac does not work, I tried to access it several times but nothing happens. I need help. Please.

My first guess is that the Windows was installed over MacOS. Then, you will need to reinstall MacOS using the recovery CDs included in your MacBook purchase.
Second option is that both operating systems are installed correctly, and you need to tell the computer to boot from a specific drive at startup.

  • Re-installed Windows and iTunes due to system crash, iPhone won't sync now

My system recently crashed. Re-installed Windows and iTunes, all my old documents, songs, movies were all gone. But I now still have movies, songs and pictures that are on my iPhone 3G and would like to transfer them to my newly re-installed system, but iTunes won't allow me to do it. I will have to lose everything currently in my iPhone because I am trying to sync it to which is now recognised as another computer.
Is there any way I can get all my songs, movies, pictures transferred across to my new system?

The sync process for iTunes content is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone, and the same for photos transferred from your computer. Photos transferred from your computer are optimized for viewing on your iPhone so even if you are able to transfer the photos from your iPhone back to your computer, the original resolution of the photos will be lost.
iTunes includes an option to transfer content that was purchased or acquired from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased or acquired from the iTunes Store only.
First you need to re-authorized your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
After doing this when syncing iTunes content for the first time, your iPhone will likely be erased of all iTunes content first, but after you have transferred the content from your iPhone to your iTunes library, you can reselect it under the Music and Videos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
Apple provides no option to transfer photos from an iPhone that were transferred to the iPhone from a computer. There may be a 3rd party utility that provides for this, but any such utility is not supported by Apple and the original resolution of these photos will be lost.
This is one of the reasons why maintaining a backup of your important data stored on an external drive or some other media is so important, which should include your iTunes library and photos, along with all other data that is important to you. This is important regardless the platform, but even more so with a Windows PC due to constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns.

  • HELP! My Mac won`t wake up after installing Windows and Bootcamp

    Hello,
I posted a message in another discussion earlier but I guess it is best to open a new discussion.
I upgraded to mac Leopard today (on a new 24 inch imac) and installed bootcamp.
In bootcamp I chose the 32GB FAT partition for windows, and everything worked fine until I had to choose the partition to install windows, where I could only choose a 115 GB (or so) partition. Fearing I'd mess up my Mac partition, I quit the windows installer (following the instructions in the installer) and since this, my mac wakes up with the mac sound and the screen remains blank. No matter what keys I push durin power up, or the installation CDs I insert, my Mac won't wake up!
Does anyone know what to do?
Is there a way to recover the master boot (or whatever it is called in mac?)
    Thanks
    Thanks!

I have had the same issue...
I just purchased my 20" iMac less than one week ago. I tried running boot camp and got an was not able to see my bootcamp partition in the windows installer. I quit the installer and now my computer launches into the white screen and will not progress further. I have tried various methods of recovery but to no avail. Here is a list:
_Using the iMac OSX Leopard installer disk_
    • insert disk into iMac slot and boot pressing "c" - result = white screen
    • insert disk into iMac slot and boot pressing "x" - result = white screen
    • insert disk into iMac slot and boot pressing "option' - result = white screen w/ mouse pointer
    • insert disk into Power Mac G4 in target mode and boot pressing "c" - result = white screen
    • insert disk into Power Mac G4 in target mode and boot pressing "x" - result = white screen
    • insert disk into Power Mac G4 in target mode and boot pressing "option' - result = white screen w/ mouse pointer
    • trying to boot Intel iMac in Target mode pressing "t" - result = white screen
    _Using General Purpose Leopard Disk_
    Same results as above.
My question is there any way to get this system to recognize a boot disk or see any boot partition outside itself?
All of the above methods were done with the power cable being unplugged and plugged back in and being all sorts of careful. I have had the CAT-5 cable out of the system during whole process.
Is there some triple secret trick that I don't know about?
Note - I have worked on and serviced video and graphics systems on Mac 8200's on up (and others) for over 12 years. So I am not a babe in the woods. My guess here is that Boot Camp is doing something to the firmware and it is toast.

  • I tried to install windows and forgot to partition a drive?

So i bought a copy of windows to install on my Macbook Air and i forgot to partition a drive for it. I selected the "boot with disk" option and then i restarted. So windows setup starts but i would have to format a system drive to run it. If my disc drive isn't plugged in the computer goes to the black screen and says "no bootable disc found". Is there anything i can do from home? Any help

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this:
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
    /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into single-user mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.
You cannot install Windows using a Dell specific installer disc. You need a retail copy of Windows.

  • Re-Installing Windows and Would Like to Keep Playlists and Library

    Hi There.
I have a large collection of music which I have recorded from Vinyls, converted and then put into various playlists in my iTunes library (a very time consuming activity I would rather not repeat).
My PC is absolutely buggered and I need to re-install windows, however I do not want to lose all the playlists I have created with the music. Preferrably I would like to be able to drag folders/files into a folder on my external to then drag back after the reinstall is done. The question I have is what files do I need to transfer?
It would be much appreciated if anyone could advise me what files I need to transfer to my external hard drive (to then transfer back onto the PC after re-installing windows). Note that I have a small number of songs in the Downloads Folder, as opposed to in the itunes folder.
    Thanks Very Much

See the user tip Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy for a suggested backup strategy.
If you copy out all of your data you will be able to restore it when needed. However it would be better to consolidate the library first as this makes the library portable, meaning you can restore it to any path. Otherwise unconsolidated data (anything outside the media folder) such as that in your downloads folder will need to be restored to exactly the same paths. This is also true if the media folder isn't a direct subfolder of your iTunes library folder.
Ideally you would clone the consolidated library to an external drive, and test that it works, by shift-starting iTunes and chooseing the copy of the library on the external drive, then deauthorize the computer before reinstalling Windows. Use the same tool to copy the library back and then periodically refresh your back up in future.

  • A little help with installing Windows and configuring GRUB

I want to install Windows XP on my machine for various reasons. As I am writing this I am using an existing Archlinux. Now I wonder what I should take care of considering GRUB when installing Windows.
I know that Windows likes to mess with the MBR and as I am not too proficient with such things I want to be careful.
Alright, now I put in the Windows installation CD, choose a fitting partition and let it install. I assume that afterwards my GRUB will be gone... How do I take care of this?

After windows has finished installing, re-insert you arch install cd and boot from it.
Mount your arch Installation as below
    mount /dev/sdXY /mnt
    - change sdX for your arch / partition, also mount /boot if you have a seperate /boot partition.
start the installer, and then just do the grub stage of the install again
    or issue the command
    grub-install /dev/sdX --root-directory=/mnt

  • Syncing to fresh install Windows and Itunes

Recently I just re-install windows 7 and itunes, how can I resync the items on my Iphone 4 back to my computer?

    Honestly, you do not.
Syncing between computer and iDevice is one way, you cannot sync content from the iDevice to the computer.
The best option is to restore your media and other important files from the backup you keep of your computer.
If you do not have a backup, that is not good.
Connect the iDevice to the computer, do not sync.
From iTunes select File > Transfer Purchases.
It is very likely that you will end up losing much of your content  this way, but that is what happens when there is not a backup.

  • Questions about partioning the drive, installing Windows, and bootcamp

I have a 2.0ghz Intel Core 2 Duo model Mac Mini model MB139LL/A, I upgraded the ram to 4GB and the HDD to 500GB.
I just partitioned off about 100 gigs of my 500 gig drive in my Mac Mini for Windows 7.
Before installing, I just want to know, is it safe if when in the Windows 7 installer, I delete the FAT32 partition that Boot Camp made and tell the Win7 installer to just partition the now unpartitioned space however it feels like? Or would this cause problems with MACOS or the Mac bootloader detecting the Windows installation if I did this (please note that I am ONLY touching the FAT32 Windows partition that bootcamp made, NOT any other partition)? Windows 7 sometimes creates a 100meg boot partition for features like bitlocker and other options, but it will not do this if you are installing on an existing partition, which is why I asked.
Also, is it possible (without hacking or third party boot software) to have three operating systems installed on the Mac Mini instead of two or no? Would bootcamp support booting more than two operating systems?
Finally, is there any way to read the NTFS Windows partition in Snow Leopard or the HFS+ Snow Leopard partition in Windows 7?

You need to tell Windows to format that FAT32 partition created by Bootcamp to NTFS. Don't delete it or create a new one. The reason is that OS X uses a partitioning layout called GPT, while Windows and most other OS's use MBR. Therefore, Bootcamp alleviates that by creating a special MBR partition.
Second, the only way to triple-boot OS X with two or more non-OS X operating systems (you can multi-boot with as many OS X installations as you want) is to use a third party loader, such as rEFIt.
Third, by default, OS X can only read the NTFS bootcamp partition, and Windows can only read the HFS+ OS X partition. You can install third party software to get around that, such as MacDrive for Windows, or NTFS-3g for OS X. Snow Leopard also has an experimental NTFS read/write driver, but it's disabled, and for good reason, for it is quite crash-prone.

  • Tried to install Windows and am stuck in a loop...

    Hello all.
Title pretty much sums up my issue. I have a copy of Windows XP Home Edition that I had used on my dell, and wanted to use it via Boot Camp on my Mac Pro (15' 2009). I began the bootcamp setup, partitioned my hadrdrive, and began the Windows setup. I put the disk in and it said "Setup could not read the CD you inserted, or the CD is not a valid Windows CD." Now the CD is stuck in my drive and every time I reboot, Windows setup stats over.
So, I need help getting this CD out or exiting the Windows Setup.
