-I have an SCCM 2012 SP1 site on Windows server 2008 R2.
-I have an HP ElitePAD 900 with Atom x86 processor, and I have some problem to deploy an OSD image to the ElitePAD.
Do I need WDS on an Server 2012 to get PXE x86 UEFI support with KB2817245?

Is this why I get this error with 2008R2?
Windows failed to start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.  To fix it... <blahblah>

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 & Network speed

Today my server went slow. I've expreienced, that the network speed is very slow, and the average speed is around 200-500mpbs which is fine. Anyways from outside, the server is annoying slow, and speedtest.net shows quite good speed.
The game server is slow, website is slow, remote desktop connection, and the whole server is just slow, even the CPU usage is 0%, and RAM is around 9%
    Specs: x4 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5355 @ 2.66GHz OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 32GB DDR3 RAM
I'm running an MMORPG server on it. And I've never experienced such thing. I'm working with Windows Servers since 3 years.
I'm clueless now, and I don't know what's causing this annoying network issue. Do you have any ideas how to solve it?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I don't think if there's any problem with my disk.
The whole system went slow, for example, now, my site takes around 30 secs to load, and before when I had no problems, it took max. 1 second.
    Try out: http://4story.hitlan.net/index.php
Remote desktop, and the whole gameserver running on it are also slow. But there's 0% CPU usage:
    http://i.imgur.com/ITzYGW7.png
The disk is also okay: http://i.imgur.com/jqyM5OR.png
If I ping the server, the average answer time is 62ms which is not the best, considering, that the server is located far away from me, it's OK.
I've asked the sponsor of my game server, and they says they doesn't see any problem.
And the most weird thing, that if I do a speedtest, it shows me around 200-400mpbs download speed, and the same upload speed.
I can't understand it how could it happen. Before everything was fast, and yesterday everything became slow. And not for only me, for everyone.
I really don't understand how it could happen, everything was fast, before, now everything went slow.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Network Unauthenticated

    Hi all,
So I have an odd problem. Wanted to see if anyone had any ideas. I have a client network that has Three locations. HQ, Branch 1 and Branch 2. All connected over IPSEC VPN Tunnels.
Each Branch Office has 1 domain controller. The HQ location has 1 DC and 1 Exchange server.
All of a sudden I noted the network Connection on the HQ DC had gone to unauthenticated. I worked on the issue and tried many different things to get it out of this state. Removed Nic Card drivers, reboots, Reset TCP Stack and Winsock Stack, changed Adaptors.
Just several different things I could think of and things I found. Nothing...
So next, This DC has all the FSMO Masters, so I transferred them to one of the branch servers and then demoted this DC. After the demotion, it rebooted and Unauthenticated was gone. Back to the Domain connection normal. I thought Great! So I ran DCPROMO
again and once it installed AD, and rebooted, Back to Unauthenticated again....
So Next, I removed AD again and this time I waited. Changed the other two DC's to look at the other. I unjoined the HQ Server. Then I went through DNS and removed all record of this server.
Next .. I rejoined the server. Network was good. Then ran DCpromo, and back to unauthenticated again.
Everything seems to work ok so far, but I am still worried about it as it should not be happening.
Any Ideas about this from anyone ?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Chris,
    Sorry for the delay.
Due to these servers are connected by VPN and Kerberos uses connectionless UDP datagram packets, these UDP packets may be dropped.
We can change MaxPacketSize to 1 to force the clients to use Kerberos traffic over TCP.
To do this, follow these steps:
Important: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully.
    Start Registry Editor.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\ Kerberos\Parameters
Note If the Parameters key does not exist, create it now.
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click
    DWORD Value.
Type MaxPacketSize, and then press ENTER.
Double-click MaxPacketSize, type 1 in the
Value data box, click to select the Decimal option, and then click OK.
    Quit Registry Editor.
    Restart your computer.

Please help As i am running out of time as i have to upgrade TFS for that first step is to install SQL server.

    Hello,
The following are a few things you can try:
Copy the media to the local disk drive, unzip it (in case you are installing from an ISO file, and run SQL Server setup from there.
Try to unregister and register the Windows Installer with the following two commands:
    msiexec /unregister
    msiexec /regserver
Try to use Process Monitor to log the detailed error produced when the installation of dw20sharedamd64.msi fails. You can download Process Monitor from the following link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645
Share with us the error captured by Process Monitor.
    Hope this helps.

  • Running oracle database xe (express edition) on windows server 2008 r2

Is it supported to run Oracle Database XE on Windows Server 2008 R2?
Database XE is only supported as 32-bit. Current builds of Windows Server 2008 only come in x64 configurations.
Here are the Database XE system requirements for windows:
The docs say that 32-bit windows is required, yet they also say that windows server 2008 is supported.
Windows Server 2008 R2 came out in 2009, and in R2 they eliminated 32-bit OS (though there is the WOW64 subsystem to run 32-bit programs within the 64-bit OS).
    See:
    - [Wikipedia page about windows server 2008 with info on R2|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Server_2008#Windows_Server_2008_R2]
    - [Wikipedia page on "windows 32-bit on windows 64-bit"|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WOW64]
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hello Matt,
Is it supported to run Oracle Database XE on Windows Server 2008 R2?No.
The docs say that 32-bit windows is required, yet they also say that windows server 2008 is supported. So this means that only 32bit versions of 2008 will be supported.
Windows Server 2008 R2 came out in 2009, and in R2 they eliminated 32-bit OS (though there is the WOW64 subsystem to run 32-bit programs within the 64-bit OS).Which is probably why 2008 R2 is not supported.
    You can either take the VM approach and install a 32 bit Windows or 64 bit Linux host, or you can queue in the list of persons waiting for a 64 bit Windows release. See the following thread for details (and the queue) for the latter: {thread:id=2277728}

  • BO XI 3.1 SP3 Install issue on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit

We are trying to install the lastest Build of Business Objects XI 3.1 SP3 on a new server with Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit OS (51038908_part1.exe,51038908_part2.rar, 51038908_part3.rar).
The setup never finish! It seems that the setup can't validate the CMS installation and is trying again and again.
In the "Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3 - Windows - Supported Platforms" document, the Windows Server 2008 R2 Entreprise 64-bit Edition is supported.
The antivirus is desactivated and the setup.exe file was launched in the administrator mode.
    Any ideas?
Edited by: Frederic Wojnarowski on Nov 22, 2010 5:45 PM

We have run into similar issues with that same package (51038908_part1.exe) which is a complete install of "BOE-3.1 package with SP3" for Windows 2008 Server that only installs in the 64-bit mode.
We had a 32-bit Oracle 10g client installed, that BOE did not recognize for the CMS - so the install was hanging at the CMS config...(no clear errors / no simple way to roll-back the failed install).
We only discovered the underlying Oracle issue when we deployed just the CMS with a local MySQL database - and then tried to point the CMS at the Oracle DB instead. It gave us TNS errors even though we could hit the same TNS without issue using SQL-PLUS on the same machine.
This lead us to assume that the 64-bit BOE couldn't connect via the 32-bit Oracle 10g drivers.
We have had trouble installing the 64-bit Oracle 10g client that we downloaded - so are now looking for some advice.
Anyone know which specific 64-bit Oracle 10g client should be used with the cumulative "BOE-3.1 package with SP3" 64-bit package (51038908_part1.exe)...?
I assume that this Oracle client will be used for any connection to the CMS / AUDIT Oracle databases - and any RPT content running on the CR-JobServers that is using an Oracle Native connection...?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

  • Using drag and drop in remote desktop on windows server 2008

we running an application on windows server 2008 terminal services .. this application was support drag and drop functionality .. i understand that terminal services on windows 2008 is supported to drag and drop but is not happening !! even when i run remote desktop connection on this server the drag and the drop is not working !
i need to enable the drag and drop for windows 2008 terminal services  ..
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Ayman,
If your requirement is to drag and drop files between local and remote sessions, Danny is right. Drag-and-drop feature is not supported in Windows Server 2008-based Terminal Server, which is a by-design behavior hard-coded in the current version of the Remote Desktop Protocol.
As a workaround, I recommend you to use copy-and-paste function instead of drag-and-drop. To enable the copy-and-paste between local and remote session, please enable the clipboard redirection in Windows Server 2008-based RDC. (In Windows Server 2003 environment, local drive redirection is needed.)
    Hope it helps. Thanks.

  • BPC 7.0 on Windows Server 2008

Ok, so I've read that SAP does not support BPC 7.0 on Windows Server 2008.  However, BPC 7.5 will support Server 2008.  Are there any plans in making BPC 7.0 compatible with 2008?  I ask this because of support conerns with Windows Server 2003.  I fear Server 2003 will lose support from Microsoft before BPC 7.0 loses support from SAP.  Please advise.
Also, if Windows Server 2003 is required, can it be the 64-bit Standard Edition, or does it need to be Enterprise?  If so, why?

    Hi Nathan,
It is a plan to provide support for Windows 2008 and also Windows 7 for BPC client.
I cannot share with you any date but until end of the year it will be provided a patch for SP7 providing support for 2 platform mentioned.
SAP  BPC application server 7.0 doesn't support 64 bits and it is no plan for support 64 bits.
For SAP BPC database server you can use Windows 2003 64 bits Standard Edition.
Regarding SE or EE for Windows SAP BPC doesn't have any limitation but you have to be aware by Microsoft limitation regarding the memory supported by each version.
For Example Windows 2003 32 bits SE support maximum 4GB of RAM.
So if you would like a single server installation is working but probably you will no t be able to have more than 4 users into system.
So the constraints are not coming from SAP BPC/ They are coming from Microsoft regarding maximyum amount of memory supported or maximum of processors supported.

  • HP Enterprise Integration Module for SAP - Windows Server 2008

Is there a download for the HP Enterprise Integration Module which will run on Windows Server 2008 for QC Version 10?  HP Support has directed me to SAP Support for the Integration Versino 2.5 and above.

    Hello John,
    now I have a resolution.
I have deinstalled the MS SQL 2008 and install MS SQL 2005 plus SP2 at windows 2008 64bit VMware.
After reinstall HP Quality Center everything works fine.
( SQL 2008 is not official supported )
But there is another problem with the HP Enterprise Integration module 2.50 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EhP1,
the installer has a problem and does not work at windows 2008.
    - this is a known HP problem and they should be published a newer version without the installer problem.
Today (april 6) I can't find an update, takes a while ... the "bad" version "setup_win.exe" has 132.327 kb.
you can only download the package from:
    http://update.external.hp.com/qualitycenter/qc100/ent/enterprise_integration/index.html
you can find all add-ins at:
    http://update.external.hp.com/qualitycenter/qc100/index.html
You should patch HP QC 10.00 with patch 10, see note 1329891 for details, takes 10 minutes or so.
    With reards,

  • How to restrict users working on Windows 7 clients from accessing Windows Explorer and other systems in the network through Group Policy with a domain controller running on Windows Server 2008 r2

    Dear All,
We are having an infrastructure setup of around 500 client computers managed through group policy.
Recently the domain controllers have been migrated from Windows Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2.
Since this account requires extremely strict environment, we need to figure the solution for restricting the users from access anything locally.
It would be great if you can assist me with the following query.
How to restrict users logged on Windows 7 clients from accessing Windows Explorer and browsing other systems in the network through Group Policy with a domain controller running on Windows Server 2008 r2 ?
Can we disable Network Tab on the left hand pane ?
explorer.exe is blocked already, but users are able to enter the Windows Explorer by clicking on the name which is visible on the Start Menu.

You cannot block explorer.exe when you do not replace the shell - the
desktop you see effectively IS explorer.exe...
Your requirement sounds like you need a custom shell:

  • PT 8.53 Windows Server 2008 R2 Error on booting domain.

    Hi all,
We are setting up a test environment for PT 8.53 on Windows Server 2008 R2. Everything in the installation went correctly then we try to boot the domain in PSADMIN for the first time we are getting an error when trying to:
    exec BBL -A:
CMDTUX_CAT:816: ERROR: Cannot exec, executable file not found
tmboot: WARN: No BBL available on site <server name>.
Will not attempt to boot server processes on that site.
Tuxedo info: Oracle Tuxedo, Version 11.1.1.2.0 with VS2010, 64-bit, Patch Level 056
Just seeing if anyone else has come accross this or has any ideas we could try.
    Thanks.
    Edited by: 991229 on Mar 1, 2013 7:15 AM

Interesting, when you did the configure step in psadmin, did BBL start then or does it fail there as well? I've not installed 8.53 yet anywhere, but in my 8.52 env, doing a reconfig will start the BBL to ensure things are shut down. My guess is it fails, which I think would cause your configuration to not occur maybe?
    Command to execute (1-10, q) : 4
This option will shutdown the domain.

    process id=12818 ... Started.
    1 process started.
    Attaching to active bulletin board.
What if you get all your env variables set, and try to run tmadmin by hand?
    set TUXDIR, PATH, PS_MACH, PS_HOME, PS_CFG_HOME, PS_SERVDIR, PS_SERVER_CFG, TUXCONFIG, LD_LIBRARY_PATH, NTSYMBOL_PATH, APPDIR (I think that's all of them, I'd have to look again)
then from cmd prompt run tmadmin
at the tmadmin prompt run boot -y
that would extract psadmin from the process, if that fails to find BBL, then I think you might need to pull out Process Monitor from sysinternals, and trace the tuxedo start process, which will show you what path BBL is really being looked for in, and possible help you solve this. You can also use Process Explorer to review what environment variables are set for what processes (such as psadmin or tmadmin).
Let me know what you find, as I'm interested in knowing what is causing this.
