Is there anywhere to get an ETA or some sort of status update instead of wearing out the refresh button?

imac g4 version osx 10.2.8 Mac OS X (10.2.x)When you download any Mac application, it decompresses to something called a "Disk Image" that should appear on your desktop with a name like "Skype.dmg".
You have to click on that .dmg, whereupon a window will open. In the window you will see a number of icons, one of which is the actual Skype application, and probably a few other icons as well.
You need to drag the "skype" application icon out of that window on to your desktop.
At that point it will be installed on your computer, and should open without any trouble.
If you feel you might need any of the other things that were in the dmg window, drag them to the desktop as well.
After that, and when you're happy the Skype is running and you can use it, you don't need to keep that -dmg file unless you reall want to. You can just trash it. -

The issue here is the compression. It is the compression that is causing the slowdowns in FCP, so in order to fix the issue you'll need to use a codec with less compression. By definition a less-compressed codec will take up more space.
ProRes LT is one of the lighter codecs available so it will be difficult to go further without a noticeable loss in quality. But try converting a small clip to ProRes Proxy and see if the quality is acceptable to you.
Another solution would be to use Adobe Premiere CS5 which can edit H.264 natively. -
Applications and services in CC ...
Some of the applications and services in the CC site can not be seen in CC desktop application. I have a trial account, and for example, I can not see "story plus" in CC desktop application. Does this mean that desktop application is not completely syncronized with the CC accounts? So, it seems that we can not use desktop application for doing all the jobs in a CC account ... right?
And secondly, I also can not see Lightroom 5 in CC site. LR 5 is not included in CC?Hi AttilaHan,
Not all applications are available when using a free/trial membership. The two you cited LR 5 and Adobe Story Pro are examples. If you switched to a paid membership these become available.

Hi people, have on the phone till Apple, the reason i cant download OS X Lion is because BT are having issues with the large download & are working on a fix. Was told to phone back in 24 hours if problem continues
Hi, just got off the phone from BT Business. It is the Business 2wire hub that has the issue. The girl from technical talked through a direct modem to Mac connection and my download took 20 minutes. If you are on Fibre broadband this is the only current fix or a new router if non fibre customer. Hope that helps.

Since the previous computer crashed without my Adobe CS3 Design Standard for Macintosh applications being uninstalled, I'm having issues with the CS3 on my new Macintosh laptop. Please help, I've tried using the online "contact us" with no success, unable to get in contact with a tech support agent that can assist me.
CS3 is too old to run on a new Macintosh laptop, sorry. You'll have to purchase CS6 or a Creative Cloud subscription.

Trying to set up an old laptop I have with Arch and I'm having issues getting X up and running. My graphics chip is:

I've installed xf86-video-nouveau and get the following error when starting X:

From what I understand, I need the nouveau-drm package installed, which no longer exists in the repos. The nouveau-drm-lts package gives dependency errors:

warning: cannot resolve "kernel26-lts<2.6.33", a dependency of "nouveau-drm-lts"
Seems this is because those packages are no longer named "kernel" but "linux" instead.
I've also tried using the proprietary nvidia driver, but I need the legacy 93xx driver, which the nvidia page in the Arch Wiki states it does not support Xorg 1.11.

I'm not able to access the term store. I get an below mentioned error.
"The Managed Metadata Service or Connection is currently not available. The Application Pool or Managed Metadata Web Service may not have been started. Please Contact your Administrator. "
Since this is happening on my local machine (Dev environment). I have full control on the term store and the all the site collections.
Hence, this is not a permission issue.
I have checked, the Metadata service is active on the machine. All the application pools in IIS is running.
After reading one of the recommendation on internet, I created a new Managed Metadata Service.
After which I was able access both (old and new) MMS from Central Admin only (highlight the MMS from manage service applications and click Manage ) and not from the site collection (term store management).
Now again its not working after I did an IISRESET.
The managed metadata service (Managed Metadata Service Connection) is grayed out.
ULS Error says:

I am using Indesign cs5 version 7.0.4 with a mac OS X version 10.9.4. I am having an issue where the save and save as option disappears. I am exporting the file as .idml and then resaving to avoid losing work but has to import all the images which takes ages. Any help out there?
I believe there are a couple of similar threads about CC or CC2014 behaving this way that might give yo some hints, but CS5 is not supported on your OS and may not run properly regardless of what you do. An in-place OS upgrade or an attempt to migrate the application would both be major problems for ID, so if you did either of those things you'll want to uninstall, run the cleaner tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) and reinstall.

I am still having issues with the TOC pictures. I got several chapter/section photos to show up, but can't seem to repeat this success. It is some mystery that happened during a time that I had practically given up. This should be such a simple thing. Drag and place a picture into the placeholder and it shows up in the TOC....right? I am going to have to publish this ibook with no photos in several sections.....why can't this be simple? I have even had someone else spend hours trying to figure this out. This software is such a GREAT idea....come on...help with this little part of it.
I had the same problem myself. I got to the point where I couldn't replace the photo, of a new chapter, in the TOC. What I did was to duplicate an existing chapter that was working and was able to replace it's TOC's photo. I also found that if you try different areas of the photo you can sometimes get it to replace correctly. For example, instead of dragging the new photo to the middle of an existing photo, try dragging it to the right top corner.

I am having issues related to storage and I believe this is causing my computer to slow down. "Other" files part is the major occupier(180 GB). I have done Omni disk and multiple other cleaning(iTunes-device, restart, etc), yet have not been able to empty any more space, nor to speed up my computer? Any suggestions? Is anyone having issues syncing the iPhone wifi hot spot to iPad, Mac, Etc..? I constantly have to turn it off and back on to get them to connect. I with it was a little more seamless... Thoughts?
Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.
Do you have an iPad 3 as well? And is yours not experiencing any issues close to mine?
