We are supposed to be charged once for apps, that we have purchased in the past.

Why am I being charged twice for two one time charges? I re-installed Angry Birds and the Eagle. I had purchased these two softwares previously and have installed and deleted other times. After I had installed this time,I decided I didn't want it, because of the constant reminders coming up on my iPhone that the Eagle was ready to go, etc. Plus the welcome back, using an old ID, apparently from some distant time, when I originally started using Apple Aps. So,those three things, being over charged, for the two items, and the constant annoying announcements. How do I get this taken care of?

Were they originally downloaded via the same account (content is tied to the account that downloaded it) and you haven't moved countries ? Also how did you re-download them, from the main of the store or the Purchased tab (re-downloading) ?     You should be able to see the purchase history on your account via the Store > View My Account menu option on your computer's iTunes (I'm not sure whether it shows in-app purchases or auto-renewing app subscriptions as I've never made any) - that is the only place that I know of where you can see it (though if other people know other places hopefully they'll post).

    Thanks, varjak, it is too easy to fall into use of jargon assuming everyone understands what it means.
    One additional point in all of this, not all "iDevice" apps run on every "iDevice".  Some are customized for a specific device, or class of devices such as the iPod/iPhone with their smaller screen.  Others for just the iPads for their larger screens.  So the user needs to be sure they are getting an app that will work on their specific device.
    And to Phoneboone, you do need to purchase the app again if it is for a different class of equipment.  When you are looking at apps such as iWorks for the Mac and iWorks components for the iPad, the iPad versions are very inexpensive.  Pages is only $10 (US) which is really cheap for such a good word processor that reads and saves in the MS Word format.
    Anyway, search for what you need and just enjoy the convenience of so many options for apps.

    Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iTunes purchases.  It sounds like you may have been looking in the Account Information page, but there is a separate Purchases section you can download the songs from.
    I recommend downloading your purchases directly to your computer using the Purchases page in the iTunes Store using these steps:
    Download previous iTunes Store purchases to an authorized computer
    Click iTunes Store near the top of the iTunes window.
    Click the Purchased link at the right of the iTunes Store homepage (below Quick Links).
    In the page that appears, select a category. 
    iTunes shows you which of your purchases are available for download. You can view all of your past purchases, or just the ones not currently in your iTunes library. Items already in your library aren’t available for download. If you select Music, you can view your purchases by song, artist, or album. If you’re viewing by album, click an album to see which songs on it are available for downloading.
    To download all available items, click Download All.

    You can find your Purchase History under your iTunes account information. Sign on to iTunes, click on your iTunes ID, and then click on View Account. Once you have your account information screen showing, you can select to see "All" of your purchased history:

    Media is only where the user puts it.
    Installing iTunes does not and has never caused media to magically appear on the computer.
    Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer (or backup of the old computer) to the new computer.

    Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer.  As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
    You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you.  I'm sure you'll pay, however.
    Let this be a very important lesson learned.

    You're right, it would have been covered under warranty. But because of the user damage, chances are there's a 200-something dollar fee . If you explain to them that it had a defect previously, they might replace it for you at no charge. **MIGHT**. But they would have to believe that it had a defect previously.

I can understand it even for free apps or apps on sale or because most of those apps depend on in-app purchases but COME ON. Where is the ethics in that policy? Where is the consumer protection?     Wasted another 3 or 4 hours today trying to find a solution. I am unable to provide alternative payment method and money is tight for next 2 weeks but this is temporary.     I am all for any instance where I am asked to verify my account or Apple ID. The issue is that I am being denied delivery of a beneficial update of a premium, already paid for app... Because I am (at the moment) maxxed out with my credit card I have associated with my Apple ID.
    There are four different (full version) paid for apps that just all released major updates.  The third party developers offer the updates for free to customers who have purchased the full version of the app and the update includes stability improvements, iOS 7 comparability, bug fixes and expanded functionality.
    These are not apps that, in total, cost over $100... And that I use every day.
    Never had an issue with being required to verify my account or Apple ID.
