  • Late 2013 MBP/Fusion/Boot Camp partition w/Windows XP (!), can I get Bluetooth working or should I give up?

Hello and please bear with the length of this post.  I had an old MacBook Pro (2007 Santa Rosa) that ran Windows XP in a Boot Camp partition just fine.  One thing Windows has that the Mac doesn't is a free OBD2 app that lets me communicate with a Bluetooth OBD2 scanner to reset my check engine light and read the codes.  This scanner uses Bluetooth.
A few months ago by a stroke of good luck I got a new Retina MacBook Pro.  Windows XP will not install on it, only Win 7 & 8 (I don't have the install disks anymore anyway).  I did not want to buy a new Windows just to run this one program (the only Windows app I really need).  I thought I could possibly run my old Win XP Boot Camp partition (now in an external USB3 case) under Fusion, and it turns out that I can indeed do this.  However I can not get Bluetooth to work – Win XP, under Fusion, does not see any Bluetooth hardware.  I got some help on the Fusion forum – I was told to uncheck the Share Bluetooth devices with the virtual machine box and check the Apple Bluetooth USB Host Controller box to connect Bluetooth to the virtual machine.  WIn XP, under Fusion, does not seem to see any Bluetooth hardware.
My question is, do the Boot Camp drivers originally installed when I first used Win XP on my old Santa Rosa MBP have any role here?  I was thinking I might have to update those drivers since I'm on a new Retina MBP, but the update notes specifically say the newer drivers are for Windows 7 and 8.  I haven't tried to install them yet – maybe they'll even refuse to install, I don't know.
If I'm truly wasting my time trying to get this to work I'll fork over the $40 for the Mac OBD2 software, although I really only need it for a "single use" (trying to pass a state inspection, lol!).  TIA for any help!

Please ignore the last message - I was hoping I could delete the thread but it looks like I can't.
After a little more investigation I've decided to give up this quest and pay the $40 for the Mac software.

if i have a swiss adress & credit card can i get Hebrew enabled creative cloud and work globaly?
also... can i use my CS3 discount for creative cloud?
    Thanks.
    DAVID.

    Hi David,
Products which support Hebrew have to be installed in this language from Adobe Application Manager.
    Please see the instructions here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4881433#4881433
I believe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator have right to left text support now.
I don't know about your CS3 discount, you can typically upgrade for a CS3 owned product.

  • Can't get HT enabled ??

    Hi
I have a Pentium 4 2.4Ghz HT and I can't get HT enable with this board...
I used a Asus P4PE with the same processor and with that board there where no problem with HT....
Bios version on my msi board are updated today (version 2.1)
    Anyone have a solution ???

First, please post the specifications of your computer in your signature, along with the ratings of your power supply.
There should be a setting in the BIOS that turns on this feature, but this also depends on what motherboard your're using, since we don't know.

  • Re: Portege M800 - can't get bluetooth installed in Windows 7

Hi, I have a portege M800 PPM81C-07602D. It came with windows vista but I have reinstalled it to windows 7, and now I can't get the bluetooth drivers to install. I've tried the old vista drivers as well as the newer windows 7 drivers, but whenever I run the install I get the message "Please plug in the bluetooth device and click ok button."....If I click ok it just pops up again. I don't know why it wouldn't be finding the internal bluetooth....I dont think there's a physical on/off switch for the BT anywhere, and I looked to see if it had been disabled in the bios but there was nothing in there about it...so...I'm out of ideas.
Anyone have any thoughts I can try?
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Toshiba Bluetooth stack can be installed if the BT module is enabled properly so use FN+F8 key combination to enable BT module.
After doing this BT should be recognized and installed properly (you will se BT entries in device manager).

  • Can't get Bluetooth to work

I can't seem to get bluetooth to work from the Desktop software.
I can pair my laptop and my Storm and transfer my contact to the PC outside of the desktop software but when I go into the desktop software and select configure bluetooth it doesn't see my Storm device.
    Any ideas?
    Best Regards,

on your PC, you need to uninstall the Bluetooth stack from the third party, and have the drivers from Microsoft installed.
Otherwise no Bluetooth in the Desktop Manager.

  • Can't get Wireless enabled uisng Windows XP

    Hello,
a friend of mine has a laptop, it was a gift, but he has a problem and he gave me the laptop to fix it.
The laptop has network driver but it has no Toshiba software in it.
I don't know why, and he lost his CD, and the problem is that I can't enable the network.
The laptop has a small LED for the wireless card, but it's off.
I tried Fn + F8, but the wireless is still turned off.
The driver seems to work fine, but it says no networks found.
I know it needs some utility but I can't find it.
    The computer runs Windows XP.
Any idea how I can get wireless enabled?
I know you need Flash Cards but i can't find something similar for Windows XP.
I tried a HotKey Utility but it has only 2 options and they don't seem to work at all, but they are still irrelevant to wireless anyway.

Well, the drivers for old notebooks are placed in the Archive area.
    http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
In Product Type choose Archive then navigate to the Satellite A60
There you should find all the Win XP drivers.
But it looks like Common Modules are not available for this A60 model/series.
As I said above, not all notebooks required Common Modules.
In your case you would need to install the +Hotkey Utility+ to control the FN keys.
Also Controls Utility and other software available on the Toshiba page should be installed

  • Can't get bluetooth headset to wake up s-voice

I picked up a bluetooth headset for my motorcycle helmet and I can get them to connect without issue. But in hands free mode, or using s-voice it won't let me active the feature by voice using the headset. It makes me tap the phone to activate s-voice and then works ok. But trying to tap on my phone repeatedly while it's in my jacket pocket at 65mph to get it to work really isn't a good option....
How can I get the phone or s-voice to recognize a wake-up command from the headset?

Be careful, orc! We don't want you focusing too much on your phone at 65mph. Although Bluetooth is a great way to communicate hands free, it may not provide the ability to use every voice function that's specific to the phone. S-Voice is controled direct by the device, so the phone needs to be able to hear your command but can't through Bluettoth without that initial wake up. You're doing everything right, but it's simply a limitation of the Bluetooth functionality.

  • Can't get Bluetooth to turn on

    Hello,
The Bluetooth on my Toshiba Satellite C650 won't turn on. It actually won't do anything, I can't open any applications that do anything with Bluetooth. When I try to open anything involving Bluetooth nothing happens, no error messages, no windows come up.
The computer acts the exact same as if I didn't click on the Bluetooth applications. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
    Thanks.

Can I use Bluetooth on my 2nd gen IPod

Yes if you update to you iPod to at least iOS 2 or 3 or so. The 2G can go to iOS 4.2.1. You need iTunes 10 or later on the computer. You indicate you iOS 1.x. That indicates that you have a 1G iPod, That iPod does not have BT.

    Hi adam,
I'm running 64bit Arch on a Studio 1557 with an integrated usb bluetooth adapter (BCM2046).
In 2011 I had the very same problem you describe and got it fixed. Let me explain:
The bluetooth adapter has 2 modes of operation: HID mode and HCI mode.
In HID mode, it presents itself as a keyboard/mouse input device (in your case 413c:815[8/7]).
This allows you to use e.g. a bluetooth mouse that has been paired earlier - even if your OS doesn't support bluetooth.
In HCI mode, the device presents itself as a regular bluetooth adapter which can be used by your bluetooth stack (e.g. bluez) - that's what we want.
The problem back in 2011 was, that my adapter would default to HID mode and to switch it to HCI mode I had to use the 'hid2hci' tool (now part of bluez-utils).
For some time now bluez ships a udev rule which takes care of switching modes so everything worked flawlessly.
A couple of weeks ago, however, the problem resurfaced and I haven't found a fix yet.
I noticed that the udev rule isn't triggered anymore and running hid2hci (/lib/udev/hid2hci) manually doesn't work either (gives an error saying 'unable to handle [devpath]').
The only way to use the bluetooth adapter in arch for me is to boot Windows inside a Virtual machine, attach the USB touchpad device (the HID proxy) and let Windows switch it to HCI mode.
This, however, only lasts until I reboot/resume from standby.
I believe this regression was caused by a package upgrade, since an older arch installation I had lying around still recogniced the adapter while an up-to-date installation wouldn't.
Unfortunately, said lecacy installation is now gone and downgrading arch to a point before the regression doesn't seem feasible.
Any suggestions are more than welcome!
    So long,
    rev

  • How do I get BlueTooth enabled on Windows again?

I've dealt with this before--this is my third time (at least) instatlling a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate via Bootcamp.
Basically I did all the normal steps: used Boot Camp Assistant to convert my Win7 iso into a WININSTALL thumbdrive, installed windows. Then I put the special apple utilities or whatever (the middle option in Boot Camp Assistant) and went and installed all those on Windows.
Now everything is pretty much working except BlueTooth. It simply isn't showing up in my taskbar or in my Control Panel.
Yes, I've already done the Device Manager -> Network Adapters -> Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter -> Properties -> Advanced -> BlueTooth Collaboration -> Enable thing and that didn't change anything for me. My computer still thinks I don't have any bluetooth dongles or devices.
I'm on a mid 2012 MBA and I know it has bluetooth because 1) I've used it on the mac side of things and 2) I've used it on Windows previously.
I also remember having to jump through hoops when I wanted to initially activate it on Windows but I can't remember how I did that.... which is why I'm asking here.
(Clarification: Most people having BT issues seem to just not have great quality. I'm not getting BT AT ALL, as if it's not even attached to my system.)

Update: I forgot something about the way BootCamp installs Windows...
I had temporarily turned off BlueTooth on OS X because I didn't need it, and when you do that, it effectively removes it from the system's list of devices.
So I just wiped the Windows partition, turned BT back on in OS X, and re-installed Windows. Just to make sure, I went through and manually installed all the drivers by hand and then let the BootCamp utility install them as well, and it's been working like a charm!
