I was having problems connecting my iPhone 4s to my iTunes, so I was advised to restore my phone as I had everything backed up to my laptop.
I have restored my phone 3 times now and cannot sync anything to it as i need 'authorization' but whenever I enter my apple ID and password to complete the authorization i get a pop-up saying
'we could not complete yout iTunes store request. an unknown error occured (-42408) there was an error in the iTunes store. please try again later'
like I said, I've restored my iphone 3 times now and get this every time and in doing so I have lost everything that was on my phone (that im not worried about) i just want to know how I can authorize my laptop so I can sync music to my iphone.
I am up to date with the latest itunes and all softward on my phone.Doublechecking. In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
(If not, perhaps first try the "Remove the SC Info folder" instructions from the document.) -

What version of windows are you running on your computer ?
If you are on XP then there are instructions on this page for how to set the date and time on your computer to 'internet time' i.e. go into Start > Control Panel > Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options > Date and Time and ticking 'Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server' and then clicking Update Now. I think that you can also get into that setting by clicking on the clock on your taskbar.
I think that Windows 7 is similar -

have itunes vouchers and each time i click redeem , I get error "we could not complete your itunes store request, an unknown error occured 1202, try again later. I have tried this for 4 days running and get same error.
I have this same problem. It's like it is not Authorizing this Mac.
What happens when you try to listen to a preview on the Music Store?
Mine asks me to authorize again and gives me the error exactly as you said above.
What happens when you try to view your account information (in Music Store, click on your account name in the top right corner)?
Mine lets me authorize sucessfully and shows me my account information.
I have emailed iTunes support about this and they replied with a generic answer about Deauthorizing and re-authorizing the computer.
I even tried, to no avail, the tips here...

Want to get a free app but keep getting this response ' we could not complete your itune store request an unknown error occured (-9808)'?
I've done a search on here and haven't found any solutions posted for it for windows computers. You could try posting in the iTunes For Windows forum and see if you get any suggestions in there (are you able to download other items from the store e.g. a free app ?) - I use a Mac, the only things that I could think of to suggest trying is see if you get the same error on a different iTunes library :
creating and/or opening a different iTunes library : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589
or using a different user account on your computer in case it's a problem with that user account.
But you may want to try the iTunes For Windows forum first, apart from anything else you are likely to get better help for the above -

Why do I need credit card to subscribe?
Apple cannot keep my credit card secure (had that experience before), but still badly wants it? So badly that they would not accept a gift card credit? What is this? I do not need "automatic renewal", I will ask for it if I need one.
