'we had difficulty reading this feed. host parameter is null' I am getting no where here, help!?

I've had an RSS feed created for an online video podcast but keep getting the message: 'we had difficulty reading this feed. host parameter is null' i've looked at the forums but none of them make any sense. My IT team say the RSS feed is valid and it should work and that is more like down to an itunes error, any help?

This will be our first podcast so do not currently have a page. Below is the feed.

Hi,
I'm fairly new to creating podcasts and have come across the 'host parameter is null' error when submitting my podcast to itunes.
The RSS feed validates )bar the <itunes:link> tag to which I understand Feed Validator doesn't yet support due to previous errors. (correct me if i'm wrong)
I've tried linking copying the source code and uploading a XML file to the server and linking to that, but still get the same error in itunes.
Any help is welcome

I'm attempting to submit a podcast through iTunes and keep getting this error. I've tried on two computers, one being a Mac and one PC. My RSS feed is here: http://www.whitewolfdental.com/wp-content/media/rss.xml
If I go to File -> Subscribe to Podcast... in iTunes and type in the feed URL it allows me to subscribe just fine and the items do play. The feed also validated according to feedvalidator.org.
Any ideas?

iTunes really likes to see the GUID tag.
If you manaually can edit your feed go into each epsiode and add in a unique GUID tag.

"We had difficulty reading this feed. null" Atom feeds no longer work?

Hi - our Audioboo feeds used to work fine when submitting as a podcast (eg http://audioboo.fm/users/4705/boos.atom). It seems like they stopped working recently - maybe in the past couple of days - and just report "We had difficulty reading this feed. null" when you try to submit them.
I'm beginning to suspect that the use of atom rather than rss is the cause. Can anyone confirm?

This feed can be subscribed to manually in iTunes (from the 'Advanced' menu) - actually I'm rather surprised it works because it isn't a valid podcast feed (though it is a valid Atom feed).
It has the iTunes 'declaration' and some itunes tags, although the former is contained in a 'feed' tag whereas it should be a 'rss' tag: there is no 'channel' tag enclosing the podcast data, no 'item' tags enclosing each episode, and no 'enclosure' tags within each episode containing the media URL. I'm not surprised you can't submit it as a podcast, and as I say it's a but surprising that the iTunes application recognizes it.
In order to get it accepted in the iTunes Store you need to create a feed in the correct format: this page contains a sample basic feed so you can see how it should look:

If the feed contains the valid iTunes format it can also contain atom tags, which iTunes will ignore.

We difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code: 404

Everytime I try to submit my podcast (http://hometown.aol.com/Cyberhtmlguy/cartoonpodcast3.xml) I get the error message above. Feedvalidator says it's ok. What's wrong with it?

Two possible things.
1) It might not like the "+" signs in your url.
2) The iTunes folks might think that your feed contains copyrighted content and are rejecting it.

Error Message from ITS "host parameter is null" - Huh?

I am having trouble submitting a podcast to the iTunes Store.
I have a podcast that I can access directly through my blog: blog.mindthegap.us

I have subscribed to my podcast through the "Advanced" menu in iTunes. It finds my podcast and adds them to my podcast library.
BUT, when I submit my podcast to the iTunes Store, I get this message:
We had difficulty reading this feed. host parameter is null
I just spent an hour with tech support from godaddy determining that the feed is legit.
Can someone help me resolve why iTS won't take it?

I had sumitted the same (or variations of the same) for nearly a week and after submitting the question to iTunes Technical Support, tried one more time.
Eureka! It was accepted. The only thing that I could possibly have changed was to have added some episode descriptions. The error message "host parameter is null" isn't very helpful if that WAS the solution.
Now, I can get back to my podcasts.

I'm starting a new podcast, in the hope that it will be avaliable via iTunes soon! but I hit a brick wall when I submitted my XML/rss feed to itunes and the following error message occured...

What does it mean and how do i get rid of it?

pyrotech13 - your feed appears to be valid.
LBesquire: there are some minor errors in your feed. The 'lastpubdate' doesn't have a timezone (and is earlier than the date of the last episode) - also your dates are variously GMT or +0100. The 'itunes:subtitle' for both episodes is too long - they should be limited to 255 characters.
None of these errors is likely to be serious. Both feeds can be subscribed to manually from the 'Advanced' menu and work OK. I can't say why submitting them is failing, unless perhaps there is a temporary glitch in the system. Certainly the error message doesn't make much sense - it would suggest a failure to communicate with your servers. I should leave it for a day and try again. Do come back if you continue to have failures.

So i'm trying to publish my podcast on itunes, but all i get is ''Host Parameter is Null''. The rss feed has been created following itunes instructions, and it has been 100% validated on the feed validator. RSS Help - iTunes Error - "host parameter is null"

hello all,
I checked the history and there seems to be no answer why iTunes is giving this error, but that it some how fixes itself. I am trying to submit a new podcast (and podcast series) to iTunes. The error that I am getting is "host parameter is null". I am not creating the xml myself i am using Feeder and I have checked it again the FeedValidator.org. I am pretty sure that I have all the fields filled out. Any ideas?

I'd start by taking those parentheses out of the URL - they might be the cause of trouble. If you want to let people know that this is an MP4 version of your feed, put the (MP4) in the podcast title.

Iweb/itunes problem - host parameter is null

i use iweb to publish and host our website. everything works fine, except... i have never been able to successfully publish a podcast to itunes through iweb. the error message in itunes is that the host parameter is null. i'm really scratching my head on this, because why would iweb offer an application that does not sync up with itunes automatically? please help!

The feed appears to be OK: it references a media file:

However making this URL into a link in an html page and then downloading from the the link produces not the m4v file but an html file called uftv.intro.m4v.html which references the media file:

SOAP Axis receiver: host parameter is null

we are on a PI 7.11 (SP06) system & we are trying to setup a scenario SOAP - SOAP (Axis) where we initiate a third party webservice. To connect to this service we are obliged to go through our proxy, which we defined in our JVM parameters:

When we execute our scenario via soapUI we get following error:

I fail to understand how this happens, how filthy are these peoples grills?????
Supposedly they brush the grill off, a bristle sticks to the grill, meat is placed on the grill, and the bristle lodges in the meat..........
Ummm.
that has to be some solid buildup for the bristle to first STICK to the grill and then to be held in place as meat is toss on top.
CLEAN THE DAMN THING, I mean really get in there and brush! another reason I think per brushing is best; my dad has always brushed the grates after, but I do it before. The grease protects teh grates and it jsut burns off the next time you preheat.

Will not allow me to download anyhere. Tools Security Exceptions Allow=no help. I never had to try this before...disable McAffy evenn't work. I need help

I cannot do ANY DOWNLOADS from various locations like I always could to before.
I shut off McAffey.
I went to Tools > Options > Security click on Exceptions, click on Allow click on Close.
I never used this security thing before. All worked good.
I constantly do upgrades and updates, and sometimes pay online for a software download.
Now I cannot do anything with my need downloads.
I can't even at CNET download.com

I'm administrator of Macbook Pro. Can't get a home folder? Previous owner is off User list but still had a home folder on side bar. How do I get rid of hers and get a home folder of my own? Thanks for any help.

Hi: Bought a MacBook Pro age circa 2011,works great, except I understand I need to have a Home Folder. I am listed as administrator in the User accounts pref, in fact I'm the only user there. Still in the sidebar when starting up the Mac, there is the former owners Home Folder and not one for me. I want to delete her Home Folder and get one in the sidebar for me. I've tried all the things I could think of the delete her folder, but can't seem to do it as there isn't a button or prompt that I can click on to delete her folder and create one for me as the adminstrator. I'd really appreciate any help with this problem that someone might give me. Carol

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If I have understood you properly, to do that, you have to create a new administrator user with your name and for your uses. Follow these steps:
1. Open System Preferences > Users & Groups, and press the + button to create a new administrator account.
2. When you have finished creating that user, open  > Log Out, and log in your new user.
3. Open System Preferences > Users & Groups, select the old user and press the - button to remove the user. If you want, you can select the option to remove the Home folder of this user, so you will only have the Home folder for your account
