"We had difficulty reading this feed. null" Atom feeds no longer work?

Hi - our Audioboo feeds used to work fine when submitting as a podcast (eg http://audioboo.fm/users/4705/boos.atom). It seems like they stopped working recently - maybe in the past couple of days - and just report "We had difficulty reading this feed. null" when you try to submit them.
I'm beginning to suspect that the use of atom rather than rss is the cause. Can anyone confirm?
-Jonathan

This feed can be subscribed to manually in iTunes (from the 'Advanced' menu) - actually I'm rather surprised it works because it isn't a valid podcast feed (though it is a valid Atom feed).
It has the iTunes 'declaration' and some itunes tags, although the former is contained in a 'feed' tag whereas it should be a 'rss' tag: there is no 'channel' tag enclosing the podcast data, no 'item' tags enclosing each episode, and no 'enclosure' tags within each episode containing the media URL. I'm not surprised you can't submit it as a podcast, and as I say it's a but surprising that the iTunes application recognizes it.
In order to get it accepted in the iTunes Store you need to create a feed in the correct format: this page contains a sample basic feed so you can see how it should look:
http://www.wilmut.org.uk/pc
If the feed contains the valid iTunes format it can also contain atom tags, which iTunes will ignore.

  • 'we had difficulty reading this feed. host parameter is null' I am getting no where here, help!?

I've had an RSS feed created for an online video podcast but keep getting the message: 'we had difficulty reading this feed. host parameter is null' i've looked at the forums but none of them make any sense. My IT team say the RSS feed is valid and it should work and that is more like down to an itunes error, any help?

This will be our first podcast so do not currently have a page. Below is the feed.

  • We had difficulty reading this feed. host parameter is null

    Hi,
I'm fairly new to creating podcasts and have come across the 'host parameter is null' error when submitting my podcast to itunes.
The RSS feed validates )bar the <itunes:link> tag to which I understand Feed Validator doesn't yet support due to previous errors. (correct me if i'm wrong)
I've tried linking copying the source code and uploading a XML file to the server and linking to that, but still get the same error in itunes.
    Any help is welcome

itunes error - restarted and all ok.

  • Error when submitting podcast: We had difficulty reading this feed. host parameter is null

I'm attempting to submit a podcast through iTunes and keep getting this error. I've tried on two computers, one being a Mac and one PC. My RSS feed is here: http://www.whitewolfdental.com/wp-content/media/rss.xml
If I go to File -> Subscribe to Podcast... in iTunes and type in the feed URL it allows me to subscribe just fine and the items do play. The feed also validated according to feedvalidator.org.
    Any ideas?

iTunes really likes to see the GUID tag.
If you manaually can edit your feed go into each epsiode and add in a unique GUID tag.

  • Reader plugin for Chrome versions 42+ no longer work

As of 04/15/2015, Google has deprecated the NPAPI which the Adobe Reader plugin apparently uses (see NPAPI deprecation: developer guide - The Chromium Projects)   This means the Adobe Reader plugin for Chrome no longer works.
Does Adobe have any plans to provide a new plugin or extension for Chrome?
If not, what is an alternative that can handle .xdp forms?  I've tried PDF Viewer (PDF.js), Notable PDF, and Xodo but none of them handle .xdp files.

All:  I use the Adobe Reader plugin a lot for work. I have found a workaround to the new Chrome version 42 update that has removed the NPAPI plugins, including Adobe Reader.
In the Chrome browser URL, type "chrome://flags". Find the flag called "Enable NPAPI Mac, Windows" and click "Enable".
Then, go back to your plugins in Chrome, "chrome://plugins". Make sure the Adobe Reader plugin is Enabled and the Chrome PDF Viewer is disabled. Everything should work as it did before.

You wanted to say "for snow leoprad" instead of "for iMac"

  • We difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code: 404

Everytime I try to submit my podcast (http://hometown.aol.com/Cyberhtmlguy/cartoonpodcast3.xml) I get the error message above. Feedvalidator says it's ok. What's wrong with it?
      Windows XP

    Two possible things.
    1) It might not like the "+" signs in your url.
    2) The iTunes folks might think that your feed contains copyrighted content and are rejecting it.

  • Had to read this headline twice.

I fail to understand how this happens, how filthy are these peoples grills?????
Supposedly they brush the grill off, a bristle sticks to the grill, meat is placed on the grill, and the bristle lodges in the meat..........
    Ummm.
that has to be some solid buildup for the bristle to first STICK to the grill and then to be held in place as meat is toss on top.
CLEAN THE DAMN THING, I mean really get in there and brush!  another reason I think per brushing is best;  my dad has always brushed the grates after, but I do it before.  The grease protects teh grates and it jsut burns off the next time you preheat.
    Preheat
    Brush

  • RSS feeds in Leopard Mail no longer work

Had been working fine until about a week ago, then they stopped being updated. Clicking on the error icon in Mail says the problem is "There was an error updating the RSS feeds. Mail cannot start a session with the system-wide RSS service. No RSS feeds will be refreshed."
I hadn't changed anything in Mail- didn't find anything in the discussions about this. I'd sent the error to Apple about a week ago- haven't heard/
    Thanks!

I cannot figure out why either, but this seemed to start two days ago. No updates that I know of, except one for Mac for Office (which obviously should not affect anything else). None of the links in my incoming email are working. Caused a work problem this morning when I could not access an online conference I needed to attend. Could not open the link in their email to get in!
Also, I have had intermittent "sending" issues where my messages seem to "hang" and give me an error message about the server.
I have used Mac Mail for years, same network, etc. and have never had any issues...now two issues seem to have cropped up at once! I'll try the restart again, as suggested. Does Apple know about this?

  • Had to update my Apple ID. It no longer works on iPad.

Here's the situation. I created an Apple ID on an iPad. A few days ago I got an iPhone and went to sign in with that ID. I got a messages saying that, for added security, My Apple ID needs to be an email address. So, I put in my email address and it said Sorry, that email is already in use. Yeah, no kidding, it is the ID I am trying to associate with my iPhone!
Long story short, I had to use a different email address and now I have two IDs. Now my ID on my iPad refuses to work despite me putting in the correct password. Is there any way to link these two accounts so that they are under one ID?

If it's the ID on the iPad that is in error use the Settings app to sign out of that ID. Then sign in with the correct Apple ID.
Settings > iTunes and App Store > tap on the incorrect Apple ID > sign out
Then sign in with the correct Apple ID.

  • HT1449 Does this mean that ITunes Match no longer works since the music is in the external hard drive?

Once you put your ITunes into an external hard drive, will ITunes Match still work?  MIne isn't loading.  What a drag!

    DebraLP wrote:
    MIne isn't loading.
What exactly does this mean?  What is (or is not) happening?
iTunes Match really has nothing to do with where the iTunes library is stored on your computer.  It simply keeps a copy of those songs it can recognize in the cloud for you.
If you describe the symptom, perhaps we can answer you better.

  • I lost my sound when firefox updated on my computer. Also said something like not compatible to AVG . Does this mean my security is no longer working? What happened to my sound from internet sites????

Sound doesn't work when on the internet. Only has happened since firefox updated on my computer Aug. 25-26 sometime. All of my sound divices work fine off the net.

Reset the SMC and PRAM each at least 2-3 times. I don't know where you got instructions for these resets so please navigate to Intel iMac SMC and PRAM resets for correct instructions just in case.

  • How to fix the 'We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed'

I'm getting the error 'we had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed' error but I can subscribe directly to the rss feed via File>Subscribe to Podcast.
    The rss feed is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/mentaltoughnesstrainer/YGwe
I've used feedvalidator and it says everything is good except for some minor suggestions. How do I fix this?
    could please anyone help me.?
I was trying on my whole day...

This is a bug in the iTunes submission system where it gives a false negative.  Libsyn servers are 100% compliant with iTunes.
Please submit again - it usually will go through the second time.  If not wait 10 minutes and submit again.
Apple is aware of this issue - but it has been around for a while.

  • Submit error: we had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed

I have created a new feed for Lifestream.org at https://www.lifestream.org/podcast.xml and it works subscribing in iTunes, but fails upon submission to Apple with "We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed."
The site is on Drupal 7, with Views iTunes RSS provding the feed.
    Please advise.

I can't see any reason why this should be. The feed validates OK (there are a few minor niggles but nothing which would cause this problem) and the episode file I checked played perfectly well. None of the usual culprits (wrong sort of media type, https in the media file URL, 'itunes:block' tag set to yes) is the case here.
We've seen cases where files which worked everywhere else wouldn't work in the iTunes Store; I've not seen any explanation for this - my guess (and I emphasize that it is a guess) is that some servers don't handle requests from the iTunes Store properly, but I don't know enough about server technology to say whether this is possible or what would cause it. You could try asking your server provider whether they have any information on this.
You could try hosting a few episode media files on another server and see whether that deals with it. Or it might even be a temporary glitch at Apple's end - you could leave it a day or two and try again.
Other than that I'm afraid I can't suggest anything.

  • I keep getting a "We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed" error.

I've been trying to post a podcast, but I keep getting a "We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed"  Error message.  The RSS feed I created is http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/mjBrW.  Any help would be appreciated.

Your feed is now OK and can be subscribed to in iTunes, so that's a start. However your media file itself is not accessible. The URL for it in the feed is
    http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/InTheFace/~5/B6E3DAcZCXU/InTheFaceEpisode1BadGran dpa.mp3
    This redirects to
    http://a1.podbean.com/646726/InTheFaceEpisode1BadGrandpa.mp3?AWSAccessKeyId=AKIA JLA6NPUL6BLALQ2A&Expires=1385103002&Signature=l4iImb8F5UB%2FZzo9gAmzyXwM%2FBc%3D
    And this brings up
    <Error>
    <Code>AccessDenied</Code>
    <Message>Request has expired</Message>
    <RequestId>D2B711C098C2AF2E</RequestId>
    <Expires>2013-11-22T06:50:02Z</Expires>

    <ServerTime>2013-11-22T07:33:36Z</ServerTime>
    </Error>
Basically the file is requiring authorization to access, so you have to turn that off.
As to https, the iTunes Store cannot access media files with this prefix, and many podcast creation services will not create the enclosure tag if it's in use.
