Our IPod connects to the WIFi, but not to the internet.
Our IPod connects to the WIFI, but not to the internet. We have a wireless router which we connect our MACBOOK to the internet and our IPod. The MACBOOK works fine, but not the IPod. It shows to be connected to WIFI, but whenever we try to connect to an internet site i.e. Sarfari, we get an message "Safari cannot open the page becuase it is not connected to the internet". We have tried rebooting, but it has not helped.
Try:
- Resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Setting

I have an ipod classic 120 gb. I had it set up so that I manually sync and manage my music. Twice I have had my ipod plugged into my mac and it had erased everything on my ipod. All the music on my itunes was still in my library, but all the other music was lost. I understand that I need to go back to the other libraries I got that music from, but how do I make sure that my ipod doesn't keep syncing and erasing itself? Also, now every five minutes a message will pop up on my itunes saying that it cannot sync because of an unknown error and then it has the number 13014. I have no idea what that is about. Does anyone else go through this? How do I fix it?
Well the iPod is supposed to be synced from YOUR iTunes music library, if you used other means to put music on there then the iPod is going to sync to only what's on your itunes music library when you connect it.
You need to put the files into itunes.
Far as your other issues, sounds like the drive is dying.

Tried Ipod in new speaker/dock and it's gone blank
My Ipod was working well then I tried it on a new speaker (gear4 houseparty) and it worked perfectly for a couple of hours. Now it's gone completely blank with a grey screen, and the computer/ITunes doesn't recognise it. I've tried the five R's but it seems absolutely dead; no icons, no white screen.
Your iPod is currently carrying very low battery level, and does not manage to get charged by connecting with your computer.

Until yesterday, I finally received a 4th Gen 20GB iPod (around 2 years old)from a friend and asked me whether I could fix it for him, which has been left untouched as a paper-weight for almost 2 months.
I tried to turn it on, and the screen was completed blank and the device looked dead. Before doing anything I prepared the following:-
1. A window based PC
2. A Mac computer
3. An USB iPod cable
4. A Firewire iPod cable
5. An iPod AC charger
As the iPod was previously formatted on a PC, therefore I tried to plug it with a PC via USB cable, it did not response and not able to get recognized by the PC. I ejected the iPod and connected with an AC charger, after a few minutes, I did a Reset for the iPod

The iPod showed an Apple sign, it stuck there for almost a minute, the screen then showed a battery with an exclamation mark sign, and after a minute, the iPod turned off itself. I was sure that the iPod carried very low battery, and could not be charged by connecting it with any computer (both Mac and PC).
I decided to let it have a charge with an AC charger for a bit longer, after 10 minute I did the Reset again, this time a sign of folder with exclamation mark showed up after the Apple sign, and again could not get recognized by a computer.
I changed my mind, and put the iPod into disk mode

Instead of connecting with a PC, I plug it with my Mac using a Firewire cable, it did not response, so I switched the cable to an USB, interestingly, the iPod got recognized and a window pop up indicating that the iPod needed to do a Restore. Therefore I clicked “Restore”, after a few seconds, an Error message pop-up with Error Message 1417, the sign that I have been waiting for quite sometime.
I ejected the iPod and the screen immediately showed a folder exclamation mark (a sign indicating a corrupted or a failure iPod OS). I am forced to put the iPod into disk mode again, connected with the Mac computer and open the Disk Utility
1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
It managed to complete the Restore process, and started to sync with the iTunes. However, it got stuck at the song no.238 from the total of 2000. I left it for an hour, but with no process, instead the iPod became “Hot” and the iTunes showed an Error message of 1428. I ejected the iPod from my Mac computer, the iPod’s screen turn to show the famous killer icon;“The Sad iPod“.
This time it was totally dead, even failed to put it into Disk Mode and non of the computer could recognize it. Sigh, I hated to do it but I knew that I must did the following:-
Holding the iPod in my Palm, and hitting it on a surface of a Sofa with 5 attempts.
Did not surprise me, the iPod turned on and it showed the Language Menu on the screen. So, I put it into Disk Mode and connected with my window PC.
The PC showed a sign and indicated that an USB device had been connected with it. I opened the iTunes and did a Restore there.
However, an Error Message 50 showed up, but I were not worried about it, connected it back with my Mac computer with it in Disk Mode. As expected the iTunes opened and allowed me to do a Restore there.
This time it managed to complete the process and a window of register pop up. After the completed the process, the iPod started to sync with the iTunes again, which finally managed to complete the process.
I left it connecting with the AC charger overnight. In the next morning, I switched it on and have a play with it, I am so glad as it is working like a charm.
From the above experience, I would like to share it with the user the following:-
1. It always better to charge with an ac charger instead of the computer, as when an iPod carrying with very low battery, it may not able to get charge from a computer
2. Try to connect the iPod with a computer, switching between USB and Firewire
3. Try to format an iPod with HD problem, with a different kind of computer e.g. Mac or PC, as the formats are totally different, the way it formats may able to solve the bad sectors on the HD
4. It may get better chance to get your iPod recognized, if you put it in Disk Mode
I hope the following works in your case as I did. -

Which version of iTunes are you using? (please give me the version number and not the "latest")
What is the iPod software number as listed in the iTunes summary page?
How much free space, do you see on your iPod screen, when you go down main menu and select the settings?
And it should also display on your iTunes summary screen, when you connect the iPod, the free space available.
How much song to you want to sync to you iPod?, normally if it is "Auto Sync", iTunes will delete all the songs in iPod and reload with the library content.
If you have more than enough space in iPod and the sync stop at 10%, then it is another common unresolve problem, with Ipod Classic and iTunes interfacing.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

I had no problem connecting to my network and now all of a sudden I can't connect my iPad. Instead of prompting me for a password it comes back and says unable to join the network ("name") and then the option is Dismiss. Anyone else have that problem? So I had my iPod for almost a week, and I had added songs and a video file to it. It seemed fine, then one day I plugged it in, it started updating and it just stopped on a song. I thought iTunes had frozen, but it was fine. Then I started to hear a clicking sound coming from inside my iPod. Well, i started to freak out, so I quit iTunes so I could hopefully stop whatever was happening. When I did that, the screen stayed on "Do Not Disconnect" for a while, so I tried resetting it. When I did this the apple screen came up, the the little icon that means your iPod is sick (or whatever). Now I cant do anything with it.

A few possibilities... (Each numbered item is a separate thing to check or try.)
(1) What does the shuffle's light do when you connect it to USB?
(2) If the docking cable plug is not fully inserted, it may not have a good connection for charging. Make sure the docking cable plug is fully inserted into the shuffle's headphones jack, as shown in this document

(3) If there are other USB devices connected to your computer at the same time, try disconnecting other devices (including USB hub) so that the shuffle is the only device connected to a direct USB port, to see if that makes a difference (you can leave standard USB keyboard/mouse connected if used).
(4) If you have a USB power adapter (such as from an iPhone, iPad, or other device), that plugs into the wall outlet, as a test, connect the shuffle's docking cable to the adapter and connect the shuffle. Does it change from a power adapter?
(5) Some newer Windows PCs (if you use Windows and not a Mac) may have a "feature" that shuts off full power to the USB port when a connected storage device is no longer mounted by the system. An iPod is a storage device, and after syncing, iTunes unmounts the iPod's disk (if you are using automatic syncing). If Windows shuts off full power to the USB port, the battery cannot charge. To see if this is the problem, does the iPod appear in iTunes when it is connected, even though the battery is not charging? If it does, select the iPod in iTunes so that you see its Summary screen. There is an option (checkbox) there for Enable disk use. If it's not already checked, check that box and Apply. Enabling disk use keeps the iPod's disk mounted continuously, so Windows will keep the USB port at full power (and the battery will charge). If the iPod now charges, there may be a way to disable this "energy saver" feature in Control Panels, so that you can turn OFF Enable disk use. NOTE: When Enable disk use is turned ON, you need to Eject the iPod in iTunes before physically disconnecting it. -
Wireless shows connected but stops working after a few hours?
Hi. I am having an issue with my linksys WRT160N v2 router. I have my desktop computer hardwired to my range extender (belkin E2S2400) which connects wirelessly to my router. The issue I am having is that after a few hours, especially if I am not on the computer, the wireless will stop working. Everything still shows connected and there is no evidence of a change except that anything I try to do (webpage, download, even the router itself) times out and says not available. It's as if the connection has somehow been put to sleep and is not being woken up.
This is despite having programs like bittorrent running in the background (seeding, not constant). I cannot find any settings to indicate sleeping or power issues or anything. If I reboot my range extender it works just fine. There is nothing on the range extender about going to sleep and it had no problem with my other router I was trying out. My other devices like my phone have no problem like this.
Any help is greatly appreciated!It would be best to check if the WRT160N v.2 router has the latest firmware installed especially if you experienced the problem on all of your wireless devices. If ever you have the latest firmware installed on your router please try to check on your current wireless security settings especially the wireless channel, you may set it to 1,6, 9 or 11.
