We have 2 I-phones and 2 mac computers - in our home - how do we survive???
I have a I-4 - my husband has I Phone 4 S we started with just one Mac computer - and it was originally set up for me - with my Itunes / I cloud account
We now have another Mac which is mine - he has the old one - in order for Michael's computer to recognize him - should we trash the I-tunes accounts on the old computer - install I-tunes for him with his apple id - do we need to trash cloud on that computer as well ? Currently his phone whenever he tries to update he always shows my apple id - even though he has his apple id in his phone? - its very confusing
Obviously it's not something that Apple would suggest doing, but if you want to share 1 iTunes account, I would suggest creating a new admin account on your system, or using another computer. You can authorize an Apple ID on up to 5 computers. To do this open iTunes select Store (from the top menu) and Authorize computer.
If you are worried about getting all the content into another user. There are 2 ways;
1. If all of the content is purchased from the iTunes store, you would want to connect up the iPhone to iTunes (in another user) cancel the sync if it starts automatically, or before connecting up the iPhone launch iTunes and go to (Windows Edit/Preferences .. Mac iTunes/Preferences) go to the Device tab and select 'Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods' .. however this does not always work. Authorize computer in the new user. Once the iPhone is connected and this user account is authorized with your shared Apple ID, go to File/Transfer purchases from iPhone. This will bring over any purchased content.
2. If not all the content is purchased, put all the content onto a flash drive, log into the test user, open iTunes, authorize the computer in this new user account and then bring over all the content. Once this is done, make sure that you can play the purchased content in the new user.
Or you can put only the non-purchased content onto the flash drive, and then do step 1 and 2 to get all your data over.
Hope this is helpful, enjoy! ✰

My iphone wont connect to itunes on my macbook after I have already synced it. I am running the lastest itunes 10.4 and I have tried restarting both phone and mac. Can anyone suggest what I can do?
You will have to put your phone into recovery mode and restore the phone as new. Since you don't have a back up, you will lose all the data on your phone but you will be able to use it again.

I have recently switched to the latest i-phone. my contacts are updated by i-cloud between phone and mac laptop.there are only about 720 contats showing on phone from app. 1250 on the computer. please advise how to correct phone
On the mac, only contacts in the "iCloud" section will sync to other devices. Those in the "On my mac" section do not. Could that be your problem?
To test the icloud situation, log into icloud.com with your mac's safari and to to the contacts page. What you see there is what icloud has received from mac and iphone. -
if i have multiple iPhones and Mac Mini sharing the same Apple ID, can I use Facetime between the devices?
Yes, but if you want these devices to have complete capability of calling each other they each must have their own separate, individual e mail address. If they don't have individual e mail addresses, the i phones will be able to call each other because you'll be using their individual phone numbers -- the Mac mini will be able to call the i phones, but, the iphones will not be able to call the Mac mini. This is because the iphones will be using the mini's e- mail address to make the call, and if they have the same e mail address, they will think they are calling themselves, so the call will not connect.
So, the way I see it is, if you keep all of the email addresses the same, the only thing you'll loose is the ability of the iphones to call the mini.
EDIT: Thinking about it, my first sentence needs to be modified. Your iphones can share an email address but it must be different from the Mac mini address.
This isn't rocket science, but it can make your head spin. LOL -
My child wants her own Apple ID for her phone and mac book. Not sure of steps to disable and create new account while transferring photos etc. thoughts ?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately, if Apple simply allowed people to log into different accounts and download content, everyone would be using everyone could share everyone else's content and bypass the need to purchase anything. To protect against this, they limit you to logging into a new account to once every 90 days.
If two or more of you, have different accounts and use only one computer, you should each have your own user account on the computer, to avoid the need to log in and out of iTunes. -
I have multiple phones and iPads and all are linked to one iCloud account and one iTunes Account. I want to keep the same iTunes Account so I can share music, etc., however, I want each device to have its own iCloud account. Any help on how I can I do this?
You'll need to create an Apple ID for each device. Use the new Apple ID for FaceTime, iMessage and iCloud on the device. Use the original Apple ID for Settings>iTunes & App Store.

I have forgotten my Password to be able to connect between my desktop Mac and Mac Book on my home network. How can I recover the password or change it?
The password used to log in to a user account remotely is the same as you would use to log into it locally. You can also use your Apple ID, so try that.
To change your login password read OS X Mavericks: Reset a login password

i have one apple id, but the family all have ipods, imac and mac book connected to this account. how do i face time from one device to another?
Hello chlanli
You would need to use one Apple ID for purchases in order to get them across all of your devices and computer. If you want you can use one Apple ID for purchases and the other one to sync personal data. The article below will explain further.

How do I update my existing Itunes to 11.1 on my phone and mac? Thanks
How do I update my existing Itunes to 11.1 on my phone and mac? Thanks
The 11.1 update I believe is only for OS X and not IOS. Look for the update in the Mac App Store/Updates or System Preferences/Software Update. To be safe, make sure you backup your system first.

I ordered my new S5 online and after following the steps outlined in exact order, my old phone no longer works and the S5 will not authenticate. Now I have no phone and I am becoming frustrating.
It downloaded all my contacts, photo's with no problem. I called the number they gave me from my old phone and then turned it off. I then put the sim card in and charged the phone. I followed all the setup steps and no I cannot send any text or make any phone calls. I get a message that they cannot authenticate my phone to dial #8899 but get the same message.Hello Notahappycamper1962
Let's get that S5 up and running! I want you to love the S5! Is the old device powered off? What zip code are you in?
I look forward to hearing from you and getting this addressed.

Hi there, our mac has an IOS version 10.5.8 and i need to update it to 10.6.8 in order to update our itunes account....when i start softwear update it tells me that nothing needs to be updated and i also do not have access to the mac app store...How can i update my ios? thanks Matthijs
Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac". Write down what it says about "version"and report that here. Now continue to "More Info..." Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
If you have a PPC Mac you cannot sync your idevice without a newer computer. See the end of this post for options.
If it says you have an Intel Mac you can upgrade to Snow Leopard, but check system requirements first:
Snow Leopard 10.6 Technical Requirements - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
You can buy Snow Leopard at:
Snow Leopard disc source - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After installing run the updater to 10.6.8, then upgrade iTunes.
Jan. 2014 post by Kappy on doing all this: https://discussions.apple.com/message/24599931
Options if you cannot upgrade: iTunes Store purchases can already be downloaded directly. Use iTunes Match to put non-Store music in iCloud, then download to your device from there. Backup your device directly to iCloud over a wireless connection. Photos can be downloaded from the Camera Roll using iPhoto or Image Capture. -
I have one Iphone, and two computers. They both have different purchases on them. One is older than the other. and one was my moms. How do i get the ringtones off of my computer and onto my moms computer to use all of them on my Iphone?
Copy them to a cd/dvd/flash drive/external drive/etc, then to the other computer.
E-mail them. -
Please reply ASAP
You can activate the software on a maximum of two computers at the same time.
Your serial number works on both Windows and Mac.
Your choice on how you mix and match the activations: Win/Win or Mac/Mac or Win/Mac. -
I have a phone and a pad. Do I need to have both of them backed up as everything is moved to the pad?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
I guess it may not be absolutely necessary, but if you need to restore the phone, you can't do it from an iPad back up.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

I have students whose toolbars "disappear" and global settings does not help.
As mentioned, I have 2 students that have somehow deleted their toolbars. I've been given 2 solutins so far and neither one has helped. I have went into "customize user interface," but it won't let me bring them back. It is only on that student's log
