We have 2 ipod nanos and 1 ipod with video--Can we share songs?

Me, my husband and my son all have ipods. We have 3 different computers, each with a separate ipod account. Can I plug my nano into my husband's laptop and update my ipod with his songs, and can he plug his into my pc and get my songs? He pays for all of the music, so it would be great if we could share all of the songs.
What would be the best way to handle this situation?

No.  You can turn your 6G Nano in to be recycled at your local Apple Store for a 10% discount towards the purchase of a new one. Otherwise, your only other option would be to sell the iPod on Craigslist or eBay and use the proceeds from the sale towards the purchase of the new 7G nano.

  • Using an iPod Nano and iPod Mini with one PC

I have an iPod Mini which I bought last year and I'm thinking of buying a Nano for my wife. I only have one Laptop PC. Can I use both iPods with one Laptop and update both from the already installed iTunes ? I don't want to create a second PC user ID/account. Will I have to load the iPod Nano s/w onto my Laptop and will this affect my Mini s/w or is it totally separate ? Are there any problems with using to different iPods on a single PC ?
    Regards
    Simon

    Hi Simon,
There is only one iPod updater (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/):
iPod Updater 2006-01-10 includes iPod Software 1.1 for the new iPod, new iPod Software 1.1 for iPod nano, new iPod Software 1.2.1 for iPod with color display, new iPod Software 1.4.1 for iPod mini, and new iPod Software 3.1.1 for iPod with Click Wheel. iPod Updater 2006-01-10 contains the same software versions as iPod Updater 2005-11-17 for all other iPod models.
It recognises which iPod is plugged in when you attach it for update.

  • Ipod nano and ipod video

    Hi,
this may be a lame question, but I have an ipod video and my daughter is investing in an ipod nano. Can we use the same itunes on the same computer? Or if I connect her nano to my itunes will it try to download the videos as well? Also in my itunes I have more songs than her nano will take (and songs she doesn't want)! can she download to hers manually as I just always sync mine

    Hi fairyfootlight!
That's a very valid question to ask.
Yes, you can manage multiple iPods through one computer and iTunes library.
"Also in my itunes I have more songs than her nano will take (and songs she doesn't want)! can she download to hers manually as I just always sync mine"
Yes, you could manually manage her nano while syncing yours, although it might be easier to sync both of them.
You see, you can create separate playlists for each iPod, one for each iPod to sync from.
This kind of technique is described as Method 2 (which I find convenient to use) in this article, which also has good info on how to manage multiple iPods with one computer:
How to manage multiple iPods using one computer
"Or if I connect her nano to my itunes will it try to download the videos as well?"
Unless something is really wrong with your iTunes (which could happen, although not likely), iTunes should not start trying to transfering videos to the Nano, since nanos cannot play videos. And, since iTues can read what kind of iPod you have by it's serial number, it wouldn't attempt at doing that.

  • HT204074 I have an iPod nano and I had purchased from iTunes random songs and downloaded lots of my personal albums and now they are gone from my iTunes account and they are in SyncUp.  I never meant for that to happen.  How do I get them back to my iTune

I have an iPod nano.  Somehow an update for SyncUp appeared and I updated it.  Now all the music from my iTunes account including songs I purchased and my own personal albums are all on SyncUp.  I definitely did not want that to happen.  How do I get my music back to my iTunes account?  Thank you.

iTunes and Apple's devices work as an ecosystem. iTunes is designed to sync with Apple's products, not anyone else's. You'll need your songs in a format compatable with the Samsung phone and to use the software transfer program supplied/recommended. It is essentially not an Apple/iTunes problem. You may have better luck finding the information you need on Samsung's forums.

  • Experience with iPod nano and iPod socks?

After discussing with the Apple Helpline about the scratches on my nano, they quickly proposed to send my some iPod socks for free in order to protect the nano (is this like implicitely admitting that something went wrong?).
My question: Does anybody have experience with iPod socks and the nano, i.e. do they scratch the nano as well (as somebody on another forum has posted)?

lol, good one James. + for you.
I remember this same thing with the iPod Mini. That was released in February 2004 and there were a huge number of cases by around April. But the mini was announced in January which ment the third party makers had a whole month to design and make cases.
The ironic thing....people didnt need a case for the mini. Its was scratch resistant to begin with, however the nano is damaged by finger acid!!!

PS: James, off topic, but do you use your iPods for different reasons, as im trying to think of ways to justify having three aswell?

  • Nano and Podcasts with Video

I seem to have trouble getting podcasts to my playlist for my nano.
    Ok, here is the situtation.
1)I have podcasts in my podcasts directory of my libary.
2)I try to manually drag podcasts into my nano playlist but not all are showing.
    3) some have videos associated with them, is it not transferring because the nano won't take the video?
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

The iPod nanos cannot play any sort of video content, including video podcasts; only the Fifth Generation iPods can play video.

  • IPod Nano and iPod Shuffle not recognized by my iMac

I'm new to Mac and just purchased a Nano and a Shuffle.  I spent the weekend transferring music from iTunes to both devices without any issues.  A few hours later I went to transfer additional songs and my Mac would not recognize either device.  The screen on my Nano says"Connected - Eject before disconnecting".  My shuffle blinks orange.  That's it...I have reset the Nano and nothing changes.  I'm hoping someone out there can help me.
    Thanks!

I had this problem with my MacBook. What finally worked was, while connected, toggling the hold switch on/off/on and then holding down the menu and center buttons until the apple logo appeared and it truly reset itself.

  • HT1386 I'm reloading my music library onto my 5th gen.iPod nano and everytime it tries to sync a song (uncorrupted) it will take 2 hours to sync it 90% then it will stay there and not make any progress.  How to fix?

This has been going on for three days.  I had to restore my iPod because the artwork was scrambling around (anyone know how to fix that too?) and when I tried to reload all my music onto my iPod, it would load on a few songs, but then it would stop on "I Wouldn't Mind" by He is We, which I got off mediafire and never gave me problems before.  I unchecked the song when I tried to resync my iPod, and sure enough it just switched over to another song (this one being from a CD) so I don't think it's a file problem, but an iPod problem.  I've tried different cables, different USB ports, restarted my computer, uninstalled/reinstalled the latest versions of iTunes, even cleaned the lint from out of my iPod's docking slit.  I am using a Dell Inspiron which I got in October, and this is my first time restoring the iPod since transfering my library over from my old computer.
Is there something I can do myself to fix these problems and have my iPod sync normally again??

    as to rockmyplimsoul's post.
    - unfortunately i don't really remember how i transfered songs to my MB anymore... it was several days ago and i didn't try fixing it until yesterday... after which point i've been through several bouts of struggling against smashing my MB/iPhone, pulling my hair, and punching my counter top several times until finally my girlfriend decided to go home and i quickly set about self medicating with alcohol - probably sounds funny, but true.  i'm sober now though! ;p  i think when i first went to sync my phone for the first time after resetting my MB, a message came up saying that i had songs on my phone that needed to be transferred to my MB or i would risk losing them during the sync session, so i clicked 'transfer'.
    - i have a LOT of non-iTunes content.
    - i have over 11,000 items in my itunes library (some of these appear to be sound effects that appeared in my library after i reset my computer - presumably stuff from garage band), and currently have 80 songs on my phone.
    - my 'other' category is .86 GB
    - i back up to iCloud
    - i do use iCloud for other media storage.  mostly just reports for work.

  • Does Apple still make games for the iPod nano, and if so how can I find them in the iTunes Store?

I know the iTunes Store has been updated and I haven't been able to find the page with the iPod click wheel games.

The iPod click wheel games were removed from the store about a year or so ago.

  • Nike+ workoutt on iPod Nano and iPod?

I was wanting to put my workout on my iPod as well as my Nano. All the songs transfer however, the 40 min training session with the coach does not transfer along with the songs. Does anyone know why this is?

Because the Nano is the only iPod to use the Nike+ stuff.

  • HT2729 Why is my ipod nano only syncing with some of my itunes songs?

It appears to be ignoring those downloaded from the cloud. It is not a capacity problem as there is plenty of memory available. THis problems seems to have started since I upgraded my computer. The previous one had Windows XP. I was using itunes match before changing.

Do you have pictures, or videos on it as well?
