We have had to change to a new router but the Macbook Pro still reverts to the old one. How can we lose this and make the new router the default?
Go to "Network" under system preferences and choose "advanced"
On the Wi-Fi tab you can sort the sequence of the preferred connections.
Then just move your new router to the top of the list.

I have installed Thunderbird on my IMac and on my MacBook Pro. I have already completely set up Thunderbird on my MacBook Pro. How can I transfer all of my settings, bookmarks, etc., from my MacBook Pro to my IMac? Also, can I automatically keep both copies of Thunderbird synched so that changes on one computer are recognized on another computer.
Create a new profile and copy the old one over it.

Hello All:
What to thank everyone in advance for taking the time to respond to this post:
We just had a 600 laptop image delopoyment of macbook pro's and since we
were rushed to do this in one day…. i forgot to connect them to wireless before
creating an image. (worked from 5am ~ 5 am)
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO create a login script, where to place it,
and how to push out wireless setting so when a user logs in, it would automatically
bind them to a certain wireless?
We want to strictly do this through our Mac os x server snow leopard.
Please help as I am going back this Sunday to resolve this. I will have to
manually open up 600 laptops and add them to the wireless if i don't
find out a solution.THANKS A BUNCH!
BUT!!!
can you help me create a script with this information.
You led me to the right direction. I will be using mac os x server and doing login script.
here is what i typed up so far but i don't know how to make the file. I know the command to run throgh shell but do not know how to make the file run so when i put it in login script it will place this wireless setting on all computers.
They are ging to be using this information:
/usr/sbin/networksetup -addpreferredwirelessnetworkatindex Airport atams 0 WPA2 [F3fd+mi7yV]]
/usr/sbin/networksetup -setairportnetwork Airport atams F3fd+mi7yV
-removepreferredwirelessnetwork Airport heritage
I did this on terminal and it worked. so how can i know deploy this to all laptops that are directly plugged in. -
I have two Apple ID, how can I delete one and use the email address associates to the main one?
If you abandon one of the Apple IDs you will also basically be abandoning any content that you have acquired with that Apple ID. Content can only be updated and re-downloaded with the Apple ID that was used to buy it. Apple will not combine the content of Apple IDs and Apple will not transfer the content from one Apple ID to another Apple ID.

Is it possible to mirror the display on the Macbook pro which is two years old to my iMac which is four years old? Macbook pro is running OS X Lion 10.7.5 and the iMac is running OS X 10.6.8 (10K549). Neither of them have Thunderbolt ports.
OK, well I would go with what Apple says in writing but if you want to take a trip to visit the Genius Bar that won't hurt.
Good luck, I'm 99% certain you will find I was correct but please let us know.
BTW when posting please click the Reply link in the post you are replying to, otherwise we can't tell who y our comunication is directed to. -
My two year old has managed to invert the colour on a MacBook, so that everything appears in negative. How can this be reversed? I have explored Preferences, but can;t seem to see anything relevant.
Yes, he does have agile fingers and they are everywhere! I managed to find a solution to the problem by going to the Language section and resetting to black on white...
All bets and thanks for the response

I have set up a Time Warner email account in Mac Mail but can't send email with this account because the Road Runner SMPT server is "offline." How can this be resolved?
Is this any help?

The receiving email ports are:
IMAP is port 143
IMAP-SSL is port 993
POP is port 110
POP-SSL is port 995
Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users. -
My daughter & I share same iCloud acct for my ipad & her iPhone. She set up a new iCloud acct for her new ipad but my iCloud acct still shows on her iPhone. If we delete, will it remove all her pictures etc(they are backed up to my iCloud)
Welcome to the Apple Community.
If she deletes your account, any photos in your photostream album will be removed from her device, her own photos in camera roll or other albums will not. If there are any photos in your photostream album she wants, there are 2 options available to her:
Copy those photos to her camera roll before deleting your account.
Create a shared photostream album yourself and share it with her. -
Has the new Early 2013 Retina Macbook Pro still lag and display issues?
Hello. I've never had a Mac before and I'm thinking of buying the new "early 2013" 15-inch (2.7 Ghz, 16Gb Ram, $2799) Retina Macbook Pro. I live in Argentina but I'm going to NYC in a couple of weeks and I want to get one there. The thing is, that I can not be returning it 2 or 3 times like I read a lot of peple had to, because I'll be coming back home after 2 weeks and here they will only fix it, not replace it for a new one, and that could take months.
So, I want to know if you guys can help me decide if I should go for it or not, if these image retention and burn in and ui lag issues appear to be fixed with this new model or if it is still the same. If I don't buy this one I'll be getting the new Samsung Series 7 Chronos they showed in CES 2013, still not available in the market. Thanks a lot!huevo_gnr wrote:
I just checked and I have the LG SJA2, too. I didn't notice any Image retention at first, I tested it with the chessboard test for 5 or 6 minutes, it showed no IR. But with 10 minutes I can see a bit of IR. Nothing that can affect the normal use of the computer, I mean I have to put the chessboard for 10 minutes and then change to grey to notice it, but it does exist and is the SJA2 from LG. If it doesn't get worst, I think it doesn't even matter. I just hope it doesn't get worst.
FWIW, I noticed that until I stopped looking at the chessboard before it switched; my eyes had image retention. But in that awfully long thread on the subject, some have insisted that if it's an LG, it's trouble so I guess there's no guarantee. (BTW, I was writing this when you tried the test again - ocular image retention?)
Not to hijack the thread, but shortly after I posted that "good news" about SJA2, my rMBP simply refused to start at all; it was totally inert. Charging, not charging, SMC reset, nothing helped. Tech support's only solution was bring it in to be fixed.
On a hunch, and remembering something about magnets in the top of the display activating a reed switch in the base, probably near the trackpad, I lifted the front of the Mac about 1/4" inch and let it drop. Bingo! The Mac has operated properly so far. I suspect the reed switch was stuck in the wrong position, and some evidence suggests it was that way out of the box and my fix corrected it. -
NEW Random But Regular MacBook Pro Mountain Lion 10.8.5 Panic Reboots
Sadly I am losing any love or trust in MacOS stability. I had random kernel panic shutdowns bad enough that I had to go to Apple and get a motherboard replacement on the mid-2010 MacBook Pro. The suspect was the nvidia defect which many have been hit by on that laptop.
Got the machine back and it ran fine a few days but has had several reboots in the last few days. No new app has been installed (except the OS 10.8.5 upgrade) and this newish set of errors appears in Console before the crashes... Older log file is at the bottom of the message to show the difference from the NVRM crashes... Why can't the OS handle even flawed software more elegantly and robustly? Any ideas on what these new errors, OCSPD errors opening a database, and something "just leaking". An earlier crash also showed iCloudHelper in there somewhere.
Appreciate any help. Thank you.

OLDER CRASHES (prior to motherboard replacement and before OS 10.8.5:
For the last 2 weeks or so, my MacBook Pro i5 15" 2010 has started experiencing random but frequent panic reboots even when no particular app was running or if running no work was being done. The worst case was when it crashed/rebooted with iPhoto open and corrupting the Library, that took hours to rebuild.
Initially the panic happened when I set the lower left corner of the primary screen to act as a screensaver trigger and it seems a brief mouse passover that spot caused a panic. Since then I disabled that option and still have had these panics, at random.
The crash report sent to Apple shows NVRM

i have the same problem since i upgrade to 10.8.5
I tried to run os on safe mode, repair disk permission, and pram reset
But now it has no sound. In sound preferences, it shows that no output devices found
What should i do ? -
My husband and I use the same itunes account and ID. I set up a new account in his name with a new ID but his purchases still come under my account. On his ipod I still see my username not his. How can I change it?
You shouldn't be using the same account on phone iphones. Have him setup his own and make sure his iCloud is logged in with that one

MacBook Pro Cost/Benefit to repair old, or sell and buy new?!
I have used a Apple MacBook Pro 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo (15.4-inch) for the past four years of college. In that time I've had it repaired once for some spillage, but other than that nothing has been done. The laptop has recently been showing serious age. I don't have a ton of extra cash, and was wondering if it would be smartest to A) Buy piecemeal repairs, and fix this one or B) sell/scrap this and purchase something new. I don't know the numbers enough to do a cost-benefit, so any help would gladly be appreciated!
INFO/BACKGROUND
Apple MacBook Pro 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo (15.4-inch) Bought in Summer 2006
• Track pad seems to be breaking/broken ($ fix cost?)
o Does not click appropriately
o Frequently messes up typing when barely touched
o Extremely finicky
• Screen sometimes displays lines of messy black lines in the middle of images with no rhyme or reason ($ fix cost?)
o What in the world could be causing the screen to display improperly in lines?
o Is this a video card failure?
o Is memory too low?
o Is it the logic board
• The battery is 100% dead and useless ($ fix cost?)
o Laptop must be plugged in to work
• Slow, and seemingly inconsistent performance ($ fix cost?)
o Memory/ram was never updated
o Safari has to be opened twice to work, first time it always just sits there
o Microsoft Office 03 applications run at a snails pace
• Still running original 2006 OS as well as all old OS applications ($ fix cost?)
• Case shows signs of use along edges with separation ($ fix cost?)
Also, if there are any ideas on what this would sell for, or a total cost to get it into solid running (and lasting!) shape would be awesome. I'm at wits end trying to budget for all this - thanks!Hi r,
Without addressing the cost of each item, I can give you my opinion that it is time for an upgrade (new/er MBP). You'd basically be replacing the logic board, RAM, HD, battery, upper case, lower case, and possibly the display and keyboard. That's almost the entire machine. And you'd have to buy Snow Leopard, the latest OS. Then you'd be left with a set of "new" old hardware which should work fine for another couple of years, but you could instead be driving the latest/fastest model for not a lot more money, which should last well beyond what the old machine would last, thereby actually making it cheaper in the long run. Also factor in selling the old MBP on ebay or craigslist for parts, and that makes a new MBP even more cost effective.

I have a 2007 MacBook Pro that needs its backlight replaced. How can I get this done?
I have a 2007 MacBook Pro that needs its screen backlight replaced. How do I go about doing this? I'm told it is vintage and Apple will no longer fix it. If I am paying why not??

Apple Mail crashes during launch in Yosemite
