Movies rented on Apple TV aren't transferable to another device. If its taking awhile to load then its an issue with your network.
What is your speed via speedtest.net
1080p requires 8mbps
720p needs 6mbps
You can change to SD in settings
Interference can cause issues, verify via istumbler or netstumbler
Should be using ISPs DNS (settings - network - DNS should be automatic)

Apple can only sell in a particular country what the book publishers grant them licenses to sell - if the publisher of that book hasn't done so, then Apple can't sell it.
Depending upon what country that are in, and therefore what apps and stores that you have access to (most ebooks have DRM which tie them to the store's own app), then you could try Amazon/Kindle, Nook, or Kobo etc and see if they have it

The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.

It sounds like your phone is unresponsive during the startup process, even after you reset the phone. If this is the reset you are doing:
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Expanding on what deggie said, with an iPad 1 the app you're using must support video out. Only the iPad 2 can mirror the screen. The apps included with the iPad that output to external monitors are given here:

The charger block is universal and is able to handle multiple votages. One hour to reach 50% seems fine to me if the phone was completely flat to start with. Just leave it on charge for as long as it takes to reach 100%. I leave mine connected overnight all the time and it does not harm the battery

You also mention that you are able to locate the serial number for Photoshop. Did that come as a part of the suite or did you purchase Photoshop as a standalone application?

We won't know until you try the procedure. The reset will not affect the content of the iPod.

If your Mac is new-ish and has one of the Lions as its OS, the drives, cards, USB sticks no longer show up, even though they're there. Go to Finder's Preferences and tick the corresponding items in the General and Sidebar tabs.

On the new laptop, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.

You should restore the the iPod to totally erase the iPod and add your own media to the iPod.
Connect the iPod to your computer and restore to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes.
