We have requirement to share reports without shared folder...

Hi to all,
we have requirement where we want End-user to share their build report in prod. enviorment with out having access to share folder!!
for e.g. if i am user xyz and you are user abc. if user xyz creates one report using answers and he can't save that report to shared directory, he can save that only in my folder.
and now he wants to share that report with user abc, is their anyway to enable these functionality?
Thanks in advance!!!

OK, then you have to do this:
1) Go to the Advance tab of the report. Click in the XML window, and press Cntrl-A then Cntrl-C.
2) Paste the XML in an email and send it to the other user.
3) The recipient then copies the XML to the clipboard.
4) Log on to OBIEE and click on any Subject Area.
5) Click on the Advance tab, delete the contents and paste the XML that was in the email.
6) Click on the "Set XML" button.
There you go. The recipient can view the report exactly as it was built and save it to his "My Folders."

  • Diff b/w creation of Report in Shared folder and in My folder

    Dear All,
May i know what's the diff b/w creation of Report in Shared folder and in My folder.
    Is there any features changes.
    Regards..

    Hi,
you can add shared folders to roles and so give users assigned to this role the permission to use the reports in that folder. Reports and folders in My Folders are not sharable.

  • How to have iMovie events in one single shared folder ?

    Hi,
I have an iMac configured with multi-user sessions (one per family member). I start with iMovie, and it seems that when working with events and projects, all data is located on personal user root folder.
My requirements are 1) to avoid duplication of data, and 2) allow every one to work with imported events.
I tried to locate all events & projects in the iMac shared folder, however iMovie does not recognize them anymore.
    What is the solution ?

    Good Morning tonitri,
I understand you want to share iMovie libraries, events and projects among different users on your iMac without duplicating or copying data to each user account.
My suggestion would be to use a large capacity external Thunderbolt, FireWire or USB drive for all of your video files so that everyone in your family has access to the libraries, imported clips, events, projects, and exported final movies that you create with iMovie.
You could organize the information any number of ways.  One way to start is to create a library for each family member on the external drive.
Take a look at the following resources for iMovie:

  • Is it possible to have many users share the same account folder in HD Users?

    Hi!
    New guy here.
I'm trying to set up somekind of Schedule for me to be able to use my mac only in the morning and only in the evening.
Parental control seems to be able to allow me to do that if i set up two different accounts and assign time limits and schedules for each one. But the problem is that i need to run some programs on both accounts and keeping the same settings throughout both accounts. Is like if i wanted to have one single account but split in two different users.
Any help on this? Thanks in advance!

You have two accounts and you can enable fast user switching to quickly switch between active accounts.
Any program installed in the Applications folder is global, so either user can open the same program into memory (I think, haven't been confirmed, don't see why not) as it just copies it into memory.
However the users setting for each program is placed in the users account folder. Say for instance the programs preferences.
You can't run two instances of the program at the same time, nor will they continue running when you switch out of a user account, it just keeps it in memory.
The Users/Shared folder is just that, it's global file holding account to share when switching between user accounts, however if the file is already open on one user, it's not going to open for the other.
If you want to pernamently drop files into antother user account, you use the Public > Dropbox and it's one way like a mailbox, stick it in and only the other account can access it.
    Hope this assists.
Would help to know why, perhaps there is a better solution.

  • How Do I Share items in Shared Folder?

    hi
Sorry but I copied a desktop folder to 'Shared Folder' but when I tried to copy to the ew user its said i have insufficient privileges to complete teh task even though I was an administrator?
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Zahid

    Hi Zahid,
When you drop a folder or file into the "shared" folder, you also have to set the privileges of the folder / file, to read only or read and write.
    Do this by
    1. Select the item to share, click on it > press "Command + I" for info. > you will see in the info. if you have read and write privileges
    2. If not, you can change it here by clicking on the arrow pointer next to "Owner, Group and Others" to read and write
    3. Now drop the item into the shared folder
    4. If this results in the same message, check that the "shared" folder is set properly by using 1. above
Try this, and if any problems, post back.
    Regards,
    Robert.

  • Share folio without sharing password

I've created an app in InDesign that I need to share with others before publishing. I've tried using the share feature in the folio builder, but this sends a link to the receiver that opens the browser, which says "unsupported browser". How can I get it to open in the Adobe Content Viewer without giving the receiver my account password? Or can I get a second ID and password that couldn't be used to log into my Adobe account?

Thanks for your reply Bob, but are you sure they don't have to have a DPS subscription to log into the Adobe Content Viewer? I'm testing with my husband's account and although he has an Adobe ID and password that works on Adobe's website, it isn't authenticating in the Adobe Content Viewer.

  • HT204053 My wife and I just bought iPhone's, we use to share an account under one Apple ID, is there a way for one of us to share music without sharing the same Apple ID?

We use to have multiple iPods, now we both have iPhones. When she wants to FaceTime with relatives she has to use my Phone because that's where the Apple ID is "tied" to. Now if we want to FaceTime each other it gets weird.
We share similar taste in music so the music is not the problem.
I'd just like her to have her own Apple ID for FaceTime, apps, etc.
    is this possible?

Sorry... Apple IDs cannot be merged...
I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • How do my husband and I share iTunes without sharing an apple id

My husband and I want to share a music library, but not apps, etc on our devices.  I was told that this is possible, but everytime we try iTunes keeps confusing our ids within our apps, and now the id on the PC has been switched.  I'm so frustrated!  Please help!

    Hi,
the content was purchased using two different Apple-IDs / Accounts?
If above is the case, then I fear you cannot merge the content using now one combined account. Content always belongs to one dedicated account. As well as a iTunes library can only belong to one dedicated Apple-ID. And also the iPhone can only belong to one dedicated iTunes library and also Apple ID (for the store stuff, for iCloud stuff you can use a second ID)

  • Restrict workgroup computers in accessing my shared folder

How to restrict workgroup computers in accessing my shared folder.
And only allow a specific system in the workgroup to have full control access to that shared folder.
    Operating System :Windows Server 2003

    Hi Tiju,
You cannot restrict access to a folder using computer accounts. The access to the share folder can only giving to everyone or local accounts if the network environment is
    Workgroup.
Because the computer account never tries to access the shared folders. The access attempt is made by the user account; and if the user account isn't in the ACL of the file, he won't get access.

  • "...write access was not granted" - shared folder

    Hi
When I try to save files (edited) to shared folder on another Mac - I get these errors:
"The disk copy of "file name" was changed since you last opened  or saved it. Do you want to save anyway?" - yes
"Could not save "file name" because write access was not granted"
    I'm working in Photoshop CS 6 (version 13.0.6 x 64) - System Yosemite on a iMac from 2014.
The shared folder is placed on a iMac from 2014, Yosemite. I have had Apple support on the shared folder - every thing is set correct.
I can see it's a common problem with Adobe Photoshop. Please send a link how to fix the problem or write the solution

I can see it's a common problem with Adobe Photoshop.
Or maybe it’s a common mistake on the user side.
Networks, removable media | Photoshop | CS4 and later
Anyway, this is a user to user Forum, so you are not really addressing Adobe here, even though some Adobe employees thankfully have been dropping by.
