We just bought our daughter a 4th gen ipod touch. Is there an app that we can download onto it so we can track its location?
Is there an app for a 4th gen ipod touch that can be down loaded so we can track its physical location, as she is famous for losing things around the house?
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn on FindMyiPod. It is off by default
To find and to have the iPod play a sound which is very useful for finding in home. Location is not that accurate to to find in a home.

Can the 4th gen iPod Touch run the same apps as iPhone 4?
I am sorry, I'm not much informed about stuff like this, so I'm pretty much a noob.
I got my eye on the new iPod Touch, especially because it is (from what I've read) an iPhone 4 without the phone and the GPS and a somewhat slightly inferior camera and display. I like the iPhone, too, of course, but the price is something that is really important to me, so it's iPod Touch for me.
I read about all the new features for the new iPod, such as games and other apps, but I'm wondering - can it run the same games apps as the iPhone?
From the fact they operate on the same OS and that they're very similar hardware wise (same processor) I concluded that they can run the same apps, but as I never seen it officially and as there only "iPhone apps" on iTunes store (not iPod Touch apps) I got the impression that might not be true.
So I am asking here now, does the latest iPod Touch run the same apps (games etc.) as the latest iPhone? And can I run the iPhone apps I buy from the appstore on the iPod Touch 4th gen?
I am sorry for my uninformativeness and I thank you in advance. Most of the iPhone apps will work the same way on the 4G iPod as they do on the phone. However, other that rely on the specific feature unique to the phone may install but will not work well if at all. The App Store should identify the system/device requirements.

My iPod 4th Generation does not let me download iOS 6.1.1...
The reason I want 6.1.1 is because I want to download kik and a load of other apps but I need 6.1.1.
The message is "Error. Unable to download iOS 6.1.1" or something, and I have no idea what it means or how to fix it because I know barely anything about the apple software things.
I've read a few things about it and discovered that this issue is common, but I can't get the answer I need, and the other posts about this issue were made like two years ago. I've got enough space, definitely, and last night it was downloading it so I put it on the charger and went to sleep, when I woke up it said "Cannot download. Internet connection is required." something like that. I had no issues last night, but now it's saying it cannot download.
Can someone please help?
I've not updated my ipod for a year or so now, but I'm still not sure why it's not working.
Thanks so much!
PS: I currently have ios 5 point something. You have to have an internet connection, either wireless or through a computer with iTunes. When you choose Software Update you can only update to the latest version for your iPod Touch, iOS 6.1.6

my daughters ipod wont turn on, i have tried to restore it via itunes to no avail.
what could be wrong?Read this.
There have been some problems accessing pages on the Apple web site. If the hyperlink doesn't work, try again. -
I dont know what to do I need help to fix this, my entire life is on that thing!
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Basically when i try to reinstall it says its only for iOS 7 or later and that I cant install it. Ive tried everything at this point.
someone helpUse this method:
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists. -
I bought my son a 4th gen Ipod Touch. It calls out on facetime and messenging just fine, but will not receive them from any of my apple products(iphone4,ipad2) 50% of the time. It especially seems to have a problem after its been idle all night. Once he has called out on facetime or messaged me first it seems to work ok. Any ideas on what it could take to fix this problem, it acts as if the wireless goes on standby but I cannot find anywhere that has that setting.

My 4th gen ipod touch will not work in a philips or Sony docking station
I bought a philips(DC320) clock radio and my ipod touch would not work in it. Thinking it was a problem with the connector on the radio I returned it and bought a Sony ICF-CS15ip because the store was out of the philips radio. When I plugged my 4th gen ipod touch into that again my Ipod touch would not play through the radio but the radio would recognize and charge the ipod. I tried my daughter's 2nd gen ipod touch in the Sony and it worked great. So It looks like there is a problem with the my ipod. Sony claims that the ICF-CS15ip is compatible with the 4th gen ipod touch and I have the latest IOS 5.1.1 on my ipod. Any suggestions before I go to the Apple store? The Ipod is only 6 months old.
You can try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPOd.
That has worked for some users.
However, sometimes an iOS update will break compatibility. In that case yo have to wait for either Apple or the dock manufacturer to issue a firmware update. -
HELP
Help needed to update a 4th gen ipod touch running version 4.3.5 (8L1) to the latest 6.0 version. When I connect and try to update i keep getting a box which states that a connection error occured and I cannot update.
I have been given a new laptop for xmas which runs on windows 8, and the new itunes version (which is in itself a hurdle as I am a technophobe!) and this is all becoming a bit fustrating.
I have connected, updated and synced my iphone successfully, but just hit a brick wall on the ipod. (which incidentally maybe where this laptop will end up!!)
Help if you can, but in laymans terms.......Thank you for you input so far.....
I think we are getting nearer to the solution sort of!
Let me get this straight...... I have paid for content on itunes, bought the apple devicds in order to play said content, now I have to subscribe $25 for the privilage of playing MY library content on MY other devices. Which wasn't such an issue to do before the new and improved itunes version!!
Have I got that correct. I think I cannot associate my other iOS devices with my library because I am unwilling to pay further through the nose!!!??? or am I missing something?
Thanks
Frustrated even more now!! -
My new 4th gen. iPod touch is not being recognized by my PC
When I plug in my new 4th gen iPod touch, the computer just says that it is a USB device that is not recognized, what can I do? My operating system is Windos Vista.
Does the iPod work OK?
Have you tied resetting the iPod? Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Next would be to place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore via iTunes. If iTunes does not see the iPod then the iPod is not usable. For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore -
My 4th Gen iPod Touch won't open up the apps I've downloaded. I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the app and it seems to only be a temporary fix. The reset and reboot didn't work either. Help would be appreciated.
In more specific terms. The apps that came on the iPod like the weather and maps and whatnot have been working flawlessly. It's just when I download an app and then disconnect from wifi it's almost like I'm on a timer until the app stops working. It acts like it wants to open, the screen flashes black then resets to the home pages. I've tried all of the basic fixes, rebooting, reseting, uninstalling then reinstalling. But like in my...long...question, the reinstalling option only seems to be a temporary fix. I just recently downloaded the 5.1.1 udate (I think that's what it was) does that have anything to do with it, or am I just derpy when it comes to iPods?Try the other suggestions here:

Then try a restore.
