We need an option to disable autocorrection on iPhone 3G

Dear Apple,
I'm an user from the new iPhone 3G, but I have a problem, I'm from Barcelona and here we talk catalan!
All the iPhones here, only use the predefined languages and the most used here is spanish.
Writing with the iPhone was a problem, because all the time you have to reject all the words and spend a lot of time correcting the phrases we write.
Please we need one of this options:
- Make a catalan dictionary
- Make an option for disable dictionary
- Make a dictionary with self-learning, that learn all we write
Please help catalan users!

Yes. It is obvious that for people that need to write in catalan (most catalans, valencians people from the balearic islands do write in catalan often even though they also use spanish), the iPhone is useless. Our society is highly bilingual and we cannot just stop writing our language because Apple does not support it.
I bought an iPhone in France, were I live. I was disappointed when I discovered that it is compulsory to use a dictionnary to write with the on-screen keyboard. At that moment, there was'nt even Spanish (a highly used language in the USA). So I only could use my phone to write to my English and French speaking friends, but not to most of my Catalan and Spanish speaking friends and family.
But I thought that, when the phone would be sold in Spain, Catalan and Spanish would be added. This should be expected by anyone that knows the bilingual areas of Spain.
But not. The version 2.0 of the iPhone did not include Catalan, nor a blank keyboard which I could train. Why? Doesn't Apple know that most human beings use more than one language in their everyday life?
It is URGENT for Apple to find a solution for all these people that want to write on the iPhone with not supported languages. This is not a problem just for catalan speaking people. The wold is full of languages and you should understand that I'm not going to write to my mother in another language than my mother tonge because Apple (contrary to Google, for example) is not able to acknowledge the multilinguism of the World. I guess that most people would do like me.

there must be a way to disable auto correct suggestion. It is a nightmare when messaging in another language.

No there is not.
You should, however, make sure that you touch the word it suggests to dismiss it when it comes up so that the iPhone "learns" not to suggest those changes.
It takes three of four dismissals before it will stop suggesting the word.
It takes some time, but it will be worth "teaching" your iPhone in the longrun.

Apple, can we please get an option to disable coverflow?

I have been lurking on these forums for About a month now. Patiently, hoping for Apple to release an option to disable coverflow. I´ve been loyal. I´ve been patient, but still not software update to fix this horrid feature. So far, one of the biggest and most voiced complaints has been on this coverflow feature. People Want -- no, need -- the option to disable it. And that is my only problem with the device.
APPLE, please give us a software fix pronto. As a software developer, I do not understand why this would take so long to do. Can anybody from Apple, who reads this forum, confirm that a software fix will be coming? I know there has been mention of it, but I have seen nothing official from Apple.
If there isn´t a software fix to allow us to turn coverflow off, I plan on getting rid of this device for a Sansa Clip. I bought this device for working out and being on the go, I cannot workout and be on the go, and use this device effectively when I have to constantly take it out of my pocket to adjust the volume. And putting the hold switch on to make sure it does not go into coverflow mode is extremely annoying. I want to be able to adjust it while it is in my pocket. There have been multiple threads on this. Can we have a fix already? And if not, just tell us. I will gladly get another device and hawk this thing on Amazon or Ebay or just flat out return it.
If a fix is coming, somebody from Apple should indicate this, because for me, personally, I am tired of waiting for something that should have been implemented right out of the gates. I can understand if they missed it, but it should have been fixed quickly.
What´s more, coverflow ruins the battery life. Is this just some plot to get the batteries to drain quicker or what? I would bet that Apple´s top selling Ipod is, in fact, the nano, and to not fix this problem might get loyal people like me to thinking, well, ¨Hey, maybe they want people´s batteries to run out quicker so they will buy a new one quicker, no?¨ Perhaps a little too tin foilish on my part, but you have to wonder. To me, the lack of contact regarding it in these forums and the lack of fix has got me to thinking that, and has me seriously considering dropping Apple´s digital media player lineup. It is a simple software fix, is it not?
Honestly, I could understand if this fix was something more complicated, like implementing a codec that needed hardware decoding. I could understand if it would take longer. But what we are talking about here is something to turn the coverflow off. This shouldnt be too difficult. After all, the firmware for the new nano does, in fact, allow us to tirn off shake to shuffle. Why not coverflow?
And, if it is not, if this option cannot be implemented because of some wierd thing with the hardware -- please explain that to us, Apple. I could have easily bought a Zune, or something from Sansa to go workout, but I stuck with Apple because I am loyal and usually the products are good, but this is absurd.
So apple, will there fix a software fix coming shortly?
Or will it be several months down the line (in which case, I will get rid of it)

Dude, your annoying. I was answering a question, so it would say I have 0 unresolved questions. What if a google search pulled up my question, though not as popular as the original coverflow thread? I know Apple already fixed this issue, but I wanted to make my question answered. A) because it could be helpful, if google pulled up my specific thread and B) I was tired of having an unresolved question in my menu whenever I logged on.

Need option to disable automatic Convert to Text

Using Acrobat DC under Mac.
So I open a PDF that is composed of multiple scanned pages.
From the (Tools?) panel, I click Edit PDF.
As I flip through the pages, I realize that Acrobat is automatically applying "Convert to Text"
However, I don't want this, and there is no way to turn this off. This is terribly inconvenient and distracting.
For the Settings, please add an option to disable automatic conversion. Not sure why I'm having to ask for this.

I see that your English is a little weak, but I believe that you are asking, "Why did you click 'Convert to Text' and not expect that all of the pages would be converted automatically."
Well, in a situation where I am working with a single page out of a collection, I need the following:
Cursor down to the page that I need, without the pages being converted automatically.
When I get to the page that I need, I click "Convert to Text."
There needs to be an option to turn off automatic conversion.

Feature suggestion: bi-langual - need hotkey to disable autocorrect

Hello
Having another native language selected for keyboard layout also decides the autocorrect language.
I am Danish, but every day I will use english as well. i cannot describe how big a ******* pain the native autocorrect is, when trying to write in english.
Since the iPad does not recognize me writing another language, the suggestions are idiotic. Many of them not even in my own native language.
Therfore please: it would make the user experience so much better, if you would include a hotkey in the keyboard layout to enable/disable autocorrect. It would even make it bareable that you included words like mé and dó in my native language autocorrect. These words do not exist. They are however very persistent when trying to write in english.

You can have more than one keyboard layout selected in Settings > General > Keyboard > International Keyboards, and if you have more than one selected then you will get a 'globe' key at the bottom of the keyboard that will allow to switch between them, and therefore have a different language for auto-correct.

Need option to disable CoverFlow

There's a huge thread about this for the iPod nano 4g, but I have always hated coverflow on my iPod touch as well. Now that the 2g iPod touch has Nike+ it's even more imperative that there be an option to disable Coverflow, but actually I'm not a runner. I still find Coverflow annoying as heck and really wish I could turn it off. I never use it and it just switches in when I don't want it to. I'd much rather have a landscape normal view, if it's going to do anything. It would be nice to be able to see more of titles. That would be genuinely useful.

Yep - it's annoying. Particularly the waiting for it to go back to normal mode as it seems to take longer then it should. I wish I could turn it off on my iPod touch too, but they haven't done that either. Mind you, I've never bothered to send them a request for that feature. I'd like to do that, but where can you send such suggestions? I seem to recall that they use to have this somewhere on their website, but now I can't find it.

Disable autocorrect and spelling/grammar check features with Computer GPO

We have two classrooms that need to have all the autocorrect and spelling and grammar check disabled. I know there is a way to do it by a user GPO, but is it possible to do it by computer (with a registry change, etc)? We can't do it by user
because outside of the class the students will need these autocorrect options for typing papers and such. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry that it's been a while since I posted on this topic, but I am just now having to revisit this issue. I tried just pushing out the registry entries though a GPO, but I have been told it is not working. I tried creating a Startup script
option, as in this article:

After Blackberry Desktop Software automatic updates. Software become part of Start-Up option or menu. I do not want Blackberry Desktop Software to automatically load during Start-Up. I've just completed loading v5.0.1 and again I need to hunt and peck a way through windows to delete this software from loading during start-up. When I loaded v4.x.x when I bought my blackberry your set-up wizard had this disable option, but all your subsequent software upgrades change my windows start-up to load blackberry desktop manager software. I too need to make "Real Copies" of images and hate doing anything directly from the OS because of the chance that my LR catalog gets out of Sync with the actual images on the computer. So I make the copies inside LR with an export routine and then move the copies inside of LR with the normal drag and drop. Once the export preset is created it can be executed from the Library Grid by right-clicking on the image (or selected images) to make the copies. My settings are as follows in case you are interested:

Option to Disable 4G on Q10 (and use 3G in lieu)

The new iphone 5 has an option to disable 4G and allow the phone to work in 3G mode. This disable button can be helpful for situations when the 4G service is weak.
I work in midtown Manhattan and the 4G/LTE service is weak in both my office and my commuting hub (Port Authority). Because the radio on the phone can find a whiff of 4G, it meakly attempts to use that to no avail. Emails get stuck in outbox, searching for webpages goes nowhere and the phone thinks there is no connection.
This is clearly a 4G issue. My old BB never had a problem with this. My friends who can disable their 4G do so for situations such as mine.
I spoke to the folks at BlackBerry and they said this was a "carrier decision" not to have a network connection listed as "3G only" in the Network Technology section of the Mobile Network. They told me other carriers did offer such an option.
When I spoke the tech support team at Verizon, they said a software update would need to be implemented to allow this "feature."
I understand that us BB users are akin to unicorns. However, those of us who use them like the new technology.
I strongly urge the Verizon customer support team to implement the software update that would allow Q10/Z10 users the ability to turn off the 4G. It would be the fair and right thing to do.

Maybe you misread my post? In it I mentioned that I work in midtown Manhattan and commute through the Port Authority.
To be specific though, the office zip code is 10017 (a block from Grand Central Terminal, another large commuting hub). The zip code for the Port Authority Bus Terminal (PABT) is 10018 (625 8th Ave., NY, NY).
BlackBerry specifically told me that Verizon is the blockage to a switch on my Q10 that would allow me to turn off 4G. Is that inaccurate?
If so, I would like to schedule a conference call between your team and the BlackBerry team to get to the bottom of this.

Like many others, I expect EX4 to be a 24x7 reliable storage system with good consistent performance. I do not need media streaming and cloud capabilities. I do not want to waste system resources to have my files analyzed to be classified whether they are videos or photos. I would like WD to provide the owners of My Cloud EX4/EX2 with the Dashboard options to disable the "convert," "wdmcserver," "wdphotodbmerger," and other processes that generate metadata, thumbnails, and hidden folders so that they will never run again on a future firmware update.

I have an EX2 also. Firmware is 10.02.08 as of now and it states this is the latest. CPU is usually above 80% usage but it is not constant. . Struthio: I can tell you, that this device is waaaaaaay better than what I have tested from other companies!! The worst experience I had was with Seagate and believe me, I work with these devices. These small flaws are there, apparently WD doesnt test too much but all-in-all these are working at least. As I see most flaws are security related and can be solved with a soft update. There is no way to do that. To have the right autocorrection apply to the right language, you need to switch between keyboard layouts.
