We need space!

We live in a small apartment and are trying to make the most of our space. We currently have a PC desktop with monitor as well as a CRT TV/DVD combo crammed in the bedroom.
Would the Mac Mini be a good option for replacing the PC and DVD player? I would ditch the PC monitor and old CRT TV for an HD flatscreen TV connected using the new HDMI output on the Mac. Add a wireless keyboard and mouse and we've got essentially the same setup taking up way less space.
Another question (on the side). If I keep my iTunes library on the Mac Mini and wish to listen to the library through Airport Express/ Airtunes in the other room, do I have to configure the Mini's audio output in the system settings each time to switch between HDMI for movies and the audio out for iTunes? That could be a pain.

The mac mini and an HDTV is exactly what I use. It works great. Mine is an Early '09, so I am using a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter with an HDMI to HDMI cable. So I have no audio signal. I use a separate mini-plug to mini-plug cable for audio. With the new mini you can do it with just an HDMI to HDMI cable with audio and video all in one.

You may have to do that, perhaps someone with a Mid '10 mini can say for sure. But there is an easy way to do that. If you have the audio volume in the menubar, if you press the Option key before clicking the volume control with your mouse, the volume changes to your input and output options and you can choose what you want to use with just a click.

You should never, EVER let a conputer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Look though other Apple Mail folders like the junk mail and delete the mail that is in there. Look through your sent items folders and see there is any mail in there that can be deieted.
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Other things you can do to gain space.
Once you have around 15 GBs regained, do a search, download and install OmniDisk Sweeper.
This app will help you locate files that you can move/archive and/or delete from your system.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.

Need space on Iphone, syncing/deleting doesn't free space

Desperate!!!
I need space on my Iphone for work + can't update anything anymore. So I synced everything on Icloud, synced on itunes. Despite those steps, here's my problems:
On my iphone: I have 40 pictures but in itunes it stills show that I have 400 pics on my iphone
I've deleted many many apps so I'm down to essentials ones
Musics seems to take a lot of spaces but I'm with Icloud...what else can I do ?
I have a 16gb iphone, that leaves 13.3go available. With the steps done above, I have only 1.7go available. To be able to install the update for IOS 8.1.2, it says I need 4,4go!!!! What the **** is that!
Changing Iphone to a 32 or 64gb is not an option money wise.

Updating over the air takes much more room than updating with iTunes, but see if you have any orphaned files taking up space.

I would certainly be putting a bigger disc in. Pretty cheap these days and easy to DYI. For the meantime you could go to HardDrive > Library > Printers and delete all the printers you don't use. Same with Modems, just leave the ones you use and download a free App called Monolingual and delte all but you native language. Of course, as per common sense, I would be making sure I had a full backup before doing this. But eventually you really will be needing a bigger disc for the modern computing environment.

I heard that Aperture makes alias files when you are editing and that might be what is clogging up my hard drive. I really don't know.

There is nothing that SHIFT reboot does to erase files. Have you restarted normally? It's quite possible that with a full drive you can't start nor can Aperture load its library file.
I don't know who gave you that advice but it's not a viable solution for a full drive:

If you have iTunes Match, and your music is in your Match library, you can access it from iCloud on all your devices, provided they are signed into your iTunes Match account. Make sure you keep a backup of your music somewhere though as the match process isnt' perfect and you may find that some of your iTunes Match music isn't exactly the same as the original (see https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4112).
The best way to back up your photos is to import them to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. If you are out of room on your Mac, get an inexpensive external drive to save your photos on.

I need space on my hard drive, how can i delete movies permanently?

My computer storage is completely full. I checked what is taking up the most space, and it came down to movies. They take up about 50 GB of my storage, and they are all movies I haven't watched in years! I don't want/need these movies anymore, but the only option I've been finding is to "hide" the purchases. That doesn't do anything for me though, because it's not taking away any of the storage!! I need to find a way to delete them off my computer to free up a ton of space. How can I do that?

Did you try to right click on a movie in your iTunes library/My movies and click on "delete"? A message will pop up to ask you if you want to remove the movie from your iTunes library permanently, click "yes" to move the movie file to the trash to delete it later.

Need Space between rows

I am using jdeveloper 11.1.1.5
I had dragged and dropped GlJrnlHd as a af:PanelForm And i had given rows = 2 and columns = 4
I need to provide space between 2 rows
How can i acheive this could any body pls help me!!!

From the property inspector drag and drop spacer in your af:panelForm (put it in location you need between your form field); , set the height and the width for the spacer as you need.

Do you REALLY need Space Designer and all those extra plugins/?

My quest to for answers to determine what machine (iMac or Mac Pro) to purchase for running Logic keeps producing more questions. There is so much talk in this forum about using Space Designers and other effects and plug ins (and all sorts of other hardware or software) additional to Logic. Is there something lacking in Logic's effects that necessitates Space Designers etc. or is this mostly a matter of preference, people looking for more precise/ extensive types of effects? I was hoping to utilize Logic for most of my drum, bass and synth sounds, most if not all of my reverbs and effects, and all of my mixing and mastering needs. I'd like to hear from people doing it this way-- using mostly Logic's sounds, effects and capabiliters, and if they think they are sufficient. For those who go with additional effects/plug ins, I'd like to know why -- do you feel Logic's effects are inadequate, or do you just prefer the sound of the addition plug ins?

in terms of what you get to start creating music with right off the bat, logic pro really is the most complete offer out there. it's basically like buying the equivalent of a sequencer, a mixer, a multitrack recorder, a rack of synths, samplers and drum machines, and a rack of effects, all at the same time.
the stuff it comes with right in the box varies from perfectly usable to world-class in terms of quality and creative potential.
you'll have your work cut out for you just getting up to speed on all the tools in logic in the first instance.. I don't think it's the best idea to start deciding about what 3rd party stuff you might want until you start getting your head around the gear in logic first. unless you have some specific plug ins or synths in mind that you're already familiar with and really want, get into logic first and then later go shopping for extra stuff that suits your tastes and the music that you make.
it's actually quite hilarious that in this day and age, you can easily buy, download and install some of the best sounding instruments and effects available anywhere, all in the space of a few minutes, with your trusty credit card. I can't tell you how much I like the fact that I never have to set foot in a music gear store hardly ever anymore. no more having to deal with incompetent (and stoned) frustrated guitar heros trying to sell me some rubbish from alesis that is on sale. not to mention the fact that since things went all plug-in, you basically get to chop a zero off the end of the price of what things used to cost.

Need Space

I badly need to make space on my iPad 2. Can I delete pictures and music on it wuthout affecting my iPhone or computers. I have the paid Apple music (whatever it's called) on my devices.

Since you pay for iTunes Match, all your songs are in the cloud, so you could technically delete all the songs from your iPad, but then redownload them if you want to listen to them (you can only download the ones you want.) If your pictures are saved on your computer's harddrive, then yes, you can delete them from your iPad, but make sure they are saved in a folder on your computer (just to be safe. I don't think this is necessary but if you're a little paranoid it can't hurt to be safe!). Your iPhone's pictures won't be affected.
My personal advice, however: If you're hesitant about deleting music/pictures, first try going into Settings>General>Usage. Here you'll see all of your apps and how much storage they take up. From this information, you can delete certain documents and data you don't need, or get rid of old apps you don't use anymore but still take up a lot of space on your iPad.
