My husband and i share a apple account we both have i phones , i pad and apple tv. My husband just upgraded to iphone 4s why when he sends me a text now dose it say its from my e amil account address which is the one the i tunes is set up on ???
On the iPod go to Settings>iCloud>Send and Receive and add a uniqueemaill address for him and uncked to Apple ID email address and iPhone number.
You might want to do similar for Settings>FaceTime.

another way to change it is :
go to settings -> phone -> my number (iput your phone number)
and then do what razmee209 said,
after you change it, your phone number will authenticate with the operator that you use,

I also cannot get myphoneto sync with itunes.This could be caused by using the same Apple ID for iMessage. If you are, to fix this you have two choices:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID. Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at". -

When I send a text to my wife i get her reply under another name. How do I fix this?
Since I got my iPhone 4S when I text my wife her replies come under my old hotmail address name. Very strange indeed. I have tried deleting her as a contact and then renaming her but still the same. The old hotmail address isn't even listed as one of my contacts so I'm puzzled as to how this is possible.

You should use a different Apple ID. If she's 13 years old or older, she can create an Apple ID without credit card > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534
If you don't want, in her device, open Settings > iCloud and turn off Contacts keeping her data. Then, open http://www.icloud.com, login with your Apple ID, choose Contacts and delete her contacts -

Sorry, no way around this limitation on an iOS device. To use a new iCloud account, you need to create such on a computer first, then setup the account on your iOS device.

i put money to my itunes account. and now when i try and buy a song it keeps saying that it has to charge my card. why wont it let me use the giftcard money? how can i fix this?
If you still have your old card listed on your account then try selecting the 'none' option and remove it and then try entering the card's details from scratch. If that doesn't work then what is the full error message that you are getting, and the card is registered to the same name and address (including format and spacing) that you have on your iTunes account ?

Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and make sure that only your personal email addresses are listed under the individual phone number.Remove the "shared" iCloud email address.
For the Contacts, if you are syncing them via iCloud and you both have the same iCloud account, you will both have the same Contact list.

Yes you can redeem the card if it is a U.S. gift card, you have a U.S. based iTunes account and if you are using the U.S. stores on the iPad.
On the iPad - Swipe to the bottom of the screen in the App Store or in iTunes and tap on Redeem. If you are using iTunes on your computer, you should see Redeem under Quick Links (i think that is where you will see it) after you sign into the store. -

As you have found in the View Menu of iChat is the option to Display the Recipients Bar
This bar when clicked will display the Screen Names that you know for your Buddy and your own Screen Names.
The Buddy's names are in the "To:-" section whilst your own are in the "From:-"

The Chat window has to Be Open.
The Buddy's current name becomes a Drop Down that show the To and From names.
It appears to allow you to Connect Google or Jabber IDs to AIM Buddies but the tick will move to any valid Account if you change either the To choice or the From choice.
AS you say about the add Buddy drop down that appears - when your Buddy list are displayed as one an extra drop down appears fro you to Select the account/list it is joining as a Buddy

When I send a text to my email, my wifes phone recives it as an iMessage.
After setting up all 3 of our iPhone 3GS phones on iCloud so we could us ehte find my phone feature an anoying thing happened. When I send a text message to my email address my son's phone and my wifes phone recive that message as a text message. Also when she texts me I recive it as if it is coming from my email address. I went threw my contacts any my email is not associated with her contact.
After a trip to the apple store we found out that suposedly it was because we all share the same iTunes account. So I created an apple ID for my wife and my son and set the iCloud to use thier respective accounts. It appears that my sons phone does have the issue anymore but my wife and my phone still have the issue.
A side note, my Son's phone when plugged into the computer (windows 7) pops up labled his phone. When my phone or my wifes phone is plugged in it just says Apple iPhone. It doesn't show our iPhones name. iTunes does show the proper name though.
This is a very anoying thing and I would love to get it resolved with out having to go back to the apple store.Have a look here...
