!!! We Want Design-Specs Of The MEGA LED-displays !!!

Every once in a while someone opens a topic in which he/she askes for a possibility to control the LED display. Some have even sent e-mails to MSI support, only to receive no for an answer. I see no reason why MSI could not release more details about the LED panel, specifically because most of us feel like a bunch of Beta-testers. Hey, we don't even ask for a complete SDK-kit, I think that sufficient knowledge about (hardware)programming is available amongst the users of this forum to make direct use of the design specifications.
Therefore I would ask you to reply to this post to make a general statement towards MSI, and hopefully convince them of releasing the so-wanted data.
JaDi.

I think you know that I want this for a long time:
  sure I will support you
But unfortunatly I see just two solutions for this problems you won't like:
We program it
We all travel to the Taiwan headquarters and start a hunger strike on front of the main building.
I prefer 1
Second thing: I worte to MSI (germany) for the specs of the LCD and they transfered by to a technician/programmer in Taiwan. After his holiday he told me that he mustn't give any information about it out. This is again one more example of data protection that just blocks every kind of progress. At the moment I AM expecting an SDK. I won't spend my whole free time to do THEIR job - well and if I do - I'm sure I will charge. I've seen this trouble with the girder plugin which was very very little work compared with an LCD control - enough is enough
Why should anybody of us HELP MSI do make their products more attractive? That's what it's really all about.

• Anyone using the 24" LED Display

Just wondered if anyone here uses the new 24" LED Display with their 13" MacBook? How does it perform and look? Any issues with the latest 10.5.6 upgrade?

• What I want to see on the next thunderbolt display.

One of the problems with the current version of thunderbolt display is that it isn't aligned with the iMac. One great solution is if the height is adjustable, ii it`d be ergonomic (every table and chair is different) and align perfectly both on the bottom or top (assuming different screen sizes).
There is also no decent solution I could find to rotate screens 90 degrees so it facilitates writing and coding. The best solution in my opinion is to unlock rotation when the user rotates to the back, then when the user rotates to the front to be able to use the screen it would lock again and the OS would rotate the image automatically. The upside is that when the user rotates to the back to unlock rotating to the sides it would stop the screen from hitting the table and would be an elegant solution as it keeps the back of the screen with no unnecessary buttons.
If anyone knows a great screen with rotation, let me know that I want to buy it.

#1 new feature: Render Faster Button!
#2 new feature: Steampunk control surface! Real world cranks, dials and knobs! Fine Victorian gingerbread wood inlays. The sweet smell of burning coal.
But seriously, if you've been keeping track of when Adobe releases software, chances any new features would have to have been locked down by now so they can program it in and test it thoroughly.
So really, what would you like to see in CS8? But you can't answer that until CS7 comes out!

• Macbook Design specs help!

Hello... im looking for the design specs for the keyboard area of the macbook, like something i can print off and it will be the exact layout of the computer
like this
http://images.apple.com/macbook/images/specs_input20081014.jpg
but in real life size that i can print and cut out and it will fit over
basically what im trying to do is buy a gelaskin ( https://www.gelaskins.com/skins.php?Skin=121&Category=7 )
and cut it so it will fit around the part where your wrist goes to protect it from scratches, and around the top of the macbook and also cut out a part for all the keys so i can have a picture where you type, im not daring enough to buy the skin and try to cut it perfectly so i was looking for a specs or a print out thing that i could print off, and stick it behind the gelaskin and cut it then stick it on.... does that make sense ?
any help is much appreciated... wanted to make something sweet that no one had.

im basically trying to do this

• How to switch the Isight webcam with 3 LED displays connected to my MacPro

How you select among connected cameras depends on which application you are using to operate your iSight. Here is how camera selection works in a few examples:
(1) For iChat, you can choose which iSight you use in the "Camera:" choices bar in iChat > Preferences... > Audio/Video that appears when more than one compatible camera is connected. Although your camera choices will be different, the choices bar will look something similar to the Preferences settings shown here:
If you cannot see the "Camera" choices bar, your Mac is recognizing only one (or none) of your iSights. In that case, consider the suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
This particular choices bar solution applies ONLY to iChat. Most other applications also have settings that allow you to choose which camera to use. However, they do not all work the same way.
(2) For instance, iMovie HD's camera choice is NOT set via Preferences. When you have more than one compatible camera connected, iMovie uses a drop-down menu choice something like this (depending on which version of iMovie you use):
Note: Because I had no built-in iSight connected when I made this example, and because my external iSight was not connected, the drop-down menu showed only "Time Lapse." Because your Mac has a built-in iSight, your built-in iSight would show in the drop-down menu even when no other camera is connected. Connecting an additional Mac compatible webcam should allow you to choose either camera.
iMove 9 (from iLife '11) uses a different camera choice button shown in this article:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/9.0/en/mov39f84285.html
iMove 8 (from iLife '09) is slightly different as explained in this article:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/8.0/en/10172.html
In general, you can use your Mac's help for the application in use to find out how to select among more than one connected camera.
(3) Photo Booth in Snow Leopard 10.6.x uses the Photo Booth > Camera menu command to select which camera to use.
Note for readers with older Mac OS X: The previous version of Photo Booth that came with Tiger (10.4.x) is such a simple, basic app that it offers no menu selectable choice. Unless your built-in iSight is already occupied as the camera being used by some open application before you launch Photo Booth, Photo Booth will use ONLY your built-in iSight.
However, you can use the trick from ¶ 4 of http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302781 to let Photo Booth use an external camera.
(If you have an external Firewire camera connected, it may be used in preference to any USB webcam. If that is a problem for you, merely disconnect the problem Firewire device.)
(4) For FaceTime, launch the app and click the Video menu item.
If your Mac recognizes more than one connected compatible camera, a "Camera" section listing the cameras from which you can choose will appear there. Clicking on the desired camera name will let you select the one you want as shown in this image from my Mac Pro and LED Cinema Display:
If your Mac recognizes only one compatible camera, the "Camera" section will not appear in the Video menu, but FaceTime will automatically use the connected camera that is recognized by OS X.
(5) For other apps, see Help for each app for info on how to select your desired camera.

• Headaches with the new LED

I recently bought a new 15 inch Macbook Pro to replace my old 13 inch white Macbook (which I LOVED). I am finding now that the new LED display on the 15 inch gives me strong headaches whenever I use it, like I've been using it all day even if I've only been on it for 1/2 hour, and I almost dread looking at the screen now. This is a major problem since I need to use my computer every day for work. I am almost tempted to return it and buy whatever necessary to fix up my old Macbook simply because of the CCFL screen, but I know it will only be a matter of time before it wears out.
I am frustrated because I would love to get used to this Macbook as my new computer, but the screen is wearing out my eyes and my brain, and I've only had it for about a week and a half!Anyone else?

Scott,
The new display isn't shipping from Apple until some time in November so the only direct feedback you'll get is from anyone that's been to the store and played with the demo unit.
With that being said, it would appear (based on the system specs and requirements, posted on the site) that the new display requires the new adapter type that's found only on the new MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

• 24" LED display: height without attached stand?

I'm interested in the height of the 24" LED display, not including the attached stand. I'm considering this display for a confined space, using the optional VESA mounting adapter and a wall-mount.
Apple lists the height of the display as 18.84" but I suspect that includes the stand.
Would anyone with this display mind measuring its height, not including the stand?
Thanks!

Excellent - thank you!
I ended up calling Apple's online store people. They didn't have specs on file, so they found one to measure and gave me an "about 15 inches" measurement as relayed to the person on the phone. So it's good to get a real number from a real customer.
One interesting tidbit is they said it vents in from the bottom and out from the top, so to be careful with mounting. Shouldn't be a problem here but good to know.
Thanks again.

• Stereo from dual LED displays

I've got a workstation with dual 24" LEDs at the office, but I work in a room with another person and am regularly back and forth between headphones and speakers. A few times out of just not wanting to get to the back of the tower and switch the Line Out I went to the system preferences and changed to Display Audio.
This was more convenient for something fast, and each display clearly has left and right channels, but I can't help but wonder if there's a way to set one of the displays to be the left channel and the other one to be the right? If it makes a difference they're both going in over the small, proprietary connector. I don't remember what it's called.
Also, sidenote, the brightness button on the keyboard only adjust one display, not both. I wondered if it would be like the disc drives where you hold option and hit eject and the other display's brightness changes, but not the case. Seems a bit inconsistent, but not a big deal really.

Thanks! Yes I bought the 24" LED display. I love it! Pulled away the glass, with a suction cap but seem quite sacrificial on this display so put it straight back!

• 27" LED display drawing too much USB power?

I'm having the infamous "USB device is drawing too much power" issue, but in my case it's a little different. Whenever I plugin the USB cord from my 27" LED display to the MacBook, it results in the above error (too much power, USB is disabled).
I've narrowed down the following:
1. Happens on two different MacBook Pros.
2. Happens when LED display is powered from different outlets.
3. It seems 2 of the 3 USB ports on the back of the display are not working.
This started happening after I moved about a month ago and reconnected everything, including a USB Hub I was using previously. I also have a SD card reader, all of which was plugged in and ready to go. When I powered up everything, the lights on the Card Reader and USB were actually pulsing, which didn't look right so I immediately powered everything down. Checked all connections and tried again. Same thing happened, so I unplugged the card reader and USB hub.
At this point, I had my keyboard plugged into the monitor which is how it was prior (before my move). I powered up everything again and while waiting for the keyboard to come on (the keys are illuminated), I noticed it was actually VERY hot - the underside of the keyboard. So I unplugged it and had a little bit of a sonofa***** moment. The keyboard seemed fried. It wouldn't come on for anything, so I went and bought a new one.
Soon as I get home, I plugged the new keyboard directly into the laptop and ignored the external LED display. Everything seemed to work fine, so I tried plugging the external monitor in, but soon as I connected the USB cord... this error pops up every single time.
Is this a USB cord issue (on the LED display) or what?  I'm at a loss of what could have happened, since when I moved everything was transported very carefully. The LED display was even in it's original retail box, so nothing was damaged in the move, USB cord included.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. I know ultimately I may need to bring it in for repair (still within warranty as I purchased the display in May 2011)... but I'm trying this first incase anyone has any ideas that could help me avoid that hassle.

Smc reset sometimes addresses some power issues.
It is possible that when that first keyboard failed when plugged into the back of the display it somehow damaged the display usb ports.
If you are under warrantee, take it to apple and let them deal with it.

• Plug 24" LED Display into Mac Pro, Still Charge MacBook Air?

Just set up my Mac Pro using the 24" LED Display I used to use with my MacBook Air. With the USB and Mini DisplayPort now plugged into the Mac Pro, could I still plug the MagSafe power cable into the Air to charge it in a pinch, or is there any reason I'd need to unplug the Mac Pro connection first?
(Rather be safe than sorry...)

Thanks much! Unless anyone cares to chime in with an opposing view, I'll be using the 24" as a spare MagSafe to recharge the Air when I'm at home...

• IMac with LED display rather than LCD?

I was in the Apple Store checking out the new LED display and I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything about the iMacs being updated with LED displays in the near future. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to Discussions,
no one except Apple does know when and what models they will release.
And the Tems of Use http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa here do not allow to speculate of future Apple products.
MacRumours http://www.macrumors.com/ is a better place for it.

• 21.5" LED display...is it best to keep it on mid-brightness for longevity?

I love my new iMac. The size and quality of the new LED display is remarkable. I keep it on maximum brightness, but worry that that will wear it out after a couple of years. If I plan on keeping this machine for 3 years, should I lower the brightness to ensure that it will be just as bright 3 years from now?
Hugh

Hi Hugh
To help save energy and prolong the life of the graphics chip and display:
1. Go to: *System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Screen Saver* and set *Start screen saver:* to Never. +(just me, but they waste energy, pound the graphics chip and hog resources)+
2. Go to: *System Preferences > Energy Saver* and set the *Display sleep:* time down to around *10 to 15* min. +(for me, 5 min. works if it's not in use it sleeps)+
3. Go to: *System Preferences > Exposé & Spaces > Exposé* and set an *Active Screen Corner* to sleep the display. +(for me optional, if I forget auto Display sleep kicks in)+
On Jan 21 2010 my Early Core Duo will be 4 years old and I hope to have it for many more.

• How to control the data to display for every users?

Hello Experts,
Im creating a module in ORACLE forms6i and I want to control all the data to display for every USERs. I have 1 Table and it has 5 columns.
My module has 5 columns and 5 rows of records to display.
Problems:
For USER1, I want to display all DATA in column3 and column4 only and all remaining columns shoud be null.
For USER2 , I want to dislplay all data in Column1 only and all remaining columns should be null.
How can i control all the data to display for each columns? Can you help me please. Im using the Clear_Items but its not working only the first row are null but the remaining
rows has its records.
Thanks.
Lala

I understand that you want certain columns not to show at all on the canvas when a certain user opens the form. Then, in the when-new-form-instance trigger, you should set_item_property(x_item, visible, property_false) for each item you do not want to be dislayed, depending on the user.

• 24" LED display with MacBook Pro & DVI output

Simple question. Just bought the 24" LED display. then learned that it won't connect to my 18 month old PacBook Pro out of the box. People have suggested many scenarios for solving this seemingly simple problem, but the two leading threads are in conflict.
Some say i need a complete adapter box. others say i can make the connection with a simple MDP-to-DVI connector.
Need more recommendations please. Thanks to all

The simple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapters are for connecting DVI displays to Mini DisplayPort computers. To connect a Mini DisplayPort display to a DVI computer you need a converter
