  • Unwanted grey lines when importing into FCP?

I have a simple lower 3rd in LT that consists of a 600 x 40 px background (rendered in After Effects as a QuickTime) and a static type track. The setup is standard 720x480 DV. When I import this into FCP, there's an unwanted dark grey line on both the top and bottom edges of the imported element (1 pixel horizontal lines).
All project settings match, and background is not being rendered. This is about the most basic compositing setup, so I can't figure out why it fails to render this properly. All other aspects of the files look fine -- type quality, drop shadow, etc.
Any thoughts? I'm happy to post screenshots if that would help.
    Thank you.

  • White Lines when importing PDFs to Photoshop

Please see this thread for further information:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop_cs6_pdf_import_adds_artifa cts_to_images
Photoshop-Team says its an error with Indesign, not an error with Photoshop.

@Dov – let us hope, that PDF/X-4 will be adopted soon; by every printing company.
    Just an additional note:
some of the biggest European online printers demand PDF/X-3 with restrictions that in effect mean you have to deliver a PDF/X-1a with fonts converted to outline paths. This is really rediculous…
PDF/X-3 has it's own problems and I would never recommend using that standard as export format. Either the old PDF/X-1a or (much, much better) PDF/X-4. For the online printers mentioned above I use always PDF/X-1a disguised as PDF/X-3. No "technical" problem here. It's just a hack, because PDF/X-1a can be regarded as a subset of PDF/X-3.
But I made that point already on another thread a couple of months ago…
Regarding the thread, that the OP has linked to:
I cannot understand that a professional workflow is based on rendering PDFs in PhotoShop.
This might be good for illustration purposes, but as a direct output-to-device workflow? I don't know…

    Hi
The value of the Channel Strip volume etc is not stored within the C Strip setting, as you have discovered.
If you really wanted, you could add a Gain plug to the strip, with it set to give the correct output level with the Fader set to 0
(Or just set the fader manually in MS)

  • Flashing/noisy line at top of video clip when importing

    Hi,
I am running into a strange problem when importing from my video camera. The top scan-line (or two) of the imported video clip is flashing! If anyone knows the reason for this, or has a solution to get rid of this problem altogether, please let me know! (its the first time I've ever tried importing!)
The workaround is to manually crop the top of the video, which I cant really do in imove for free? and would mean having to edit each clip...there goes onestep iDVD
I have a sony tvr310 digital 8 camera and am importing using firewire on my imac.

Analog-to-DV conversion adds narrow black borders to the left & right (and some analog "head switching" noise to the bottom).
If you view the output on a TV, then the overscan will automatically crop the borders out. But if you view the output on a computer monitor, you might want to crop them out. You can do this with MPEG Streamclip ($0):

My TRV320 D8 doesn't have such lines so your problem sounds strange. Have you tried to clean the camcorders heads?

  • ITunes for Windows freezes when importing a library. I have a large but not huge library of mostly iTunes purchased music on two authorized computers and would like to sync the files, export the library as a playlist, and import it on the other computer.

I am running iTunes for Windows 10.2.2 on Windows 7 Home. I have my iTunes library on both this computer and another authorized machine running Windows 7 Professional. I have a large but not enormous library, as I'm one of those people who doesn't pirate, use torrents, borrow from a dozen friends, or whatever other shades of gray you might imagine. It's mostly iTunes purchases with my old CD collection imported. I have started using the following technique to sync my libraries between my two authorized computers, an ability which you can probably all agree should one day be added to iTunes -- that would be different from Home Sharing, because the music would be stored locally and thus available on the road. With the added benefit of the entire library being backed up on the other machine in real-time. Anyway, when I switch from my desktop to laptop and vice versa, I use the following technique:
Connect both machines to the home network. One machine is the "Active" machine, which has most recently been used for iTunes media, purchases, ratings, etc.
On the "Active" machine, File-->Library-->Export. Save the file as "Library.xml" on the shared drive of the other machine.
Right-click "Library.xml" where it's been saved, and open another file that has two lines in it: The root path of the iTunes library on one machine and the root path of the iTunes library on the other machine.
Do a find/replace all in Notepad to make the library XML file point to where the files will be saved on the "Inactive" machine.
Run Microsoft SyncToy to synchronize the files between both music libraries; the most recent files win. This avoids copying the entire multi-gigabyte library over the network.
Open iTunes on the "Inactive" machine.
Go to Music, Select All, Delete. Keep files.
Do the same for Movies, Music Videos.
Go down to Playlists, select the top one, hold down the delete button until they're all gone.
File-->Library-->Import Playlist. Choose the "Library.xml" file you saved.
First a status bar comes up that says, "Importing library." It has the continually-scrolling progress bar, not the one that starts on the left and steadily creeps right. Then after about 30 seconds, that clears out. Wait. Typically a few minutes. Eventually a status bar will pop up saying something like, "Evaluating gapless playback information," or something like that.
The "Inactive" computer is now the "Active" computer. I can now play my library, it has all my playlists and metadata from the other machine.
Delete all the duplicate playlists named "Music," "Genius," "Purchased," and "iTunes DJ."
Well, I just upgraded to iTunes 10.2.2 a few days ago and tried to do this again like I've done it dozens of times before. Now, iTunes just goes unresponsive after the library import. It got through the "Importing library" bar to the long wait and stopped. I can still multiprocess and use other programs, but iTunes is hovering back there not responding to clicks. Task Manager doesn't seem to think iTunes is using my CPU, and I don't see my hard drive rattling. Any thoughts on why iTunes might hang up when importing a large library?
... Also, please help lobby Apple to come up with a network sync tool built into iTunes for a user with multiple authorized computers. Something different than Home Sharing so I can pull my laptop off the network and still have the synced library with me. And all my metadata changes will sync. The technique I use seems a little kludgey, don't you think?

iTunes isn't an editor. You need an app that's intended for editing audio files, like Adobe Audition (http://www.adobe.com/products/audition.html) or Audacity (free in the App Store).

  • What happens to CC or Watermarks when imported into PrPro

    HI all,
my question (s) are about information that is stored in the out of tv safety feilds when imported into Adobe premeir pro. files will be mpeg-2 video files SD and Hd
    1) what happens to closed Captioning data (does it get moved or is it stripped)?
    2) what happens to Nielsen watermarks on line 22 and 20?
Can anybody give me an understanding of this.
    thank you much!!

Nothing happens to the music on your computer. Nothing will "combine" unless this other person actually downloads something to your computer. Simply logging into an iTunes account does not instigate any automatic downloads of anything.

  • Error when importing Web Service Model

    Hi,
I am having trouble importing a Web Service model into my Web Dynpro component.
I have successfully published my SessionBean method as a Web Service which works correctly when used from the Web AS Web Service Navigator.
However, my Web Dynpro cannot correctly create a model from the WSDL. The problem seems to be with the last parameter of the method, a two-dimensional array of Strings. When importing the web service model, the following line of code get created in the respective Model class:
    logicalPort.generateMetadata(this.getKeywordsAsArray(), this.srcLang, this.getTgtLangAsArray(), ERROR no prop = parameters
Obviously there is a problem with the code generation for the last parameter (the two-dimensional array) which results in this "ERROR no prop = parameters" message.
Does anyone have an idea what I might be doing wrong? Is there a problem with multidimensional arrays in Web Dynpro model classes? I originally wanted to use a HashMap but naturally had to use a simple data type - any other ideas for a workaround?
    Cheers,
    Tim

    Hi,
First, can you check whether you able to access your web service url in browser?
    or
you can test your webservice from the NWDI Web service perspective, here you can test your web service is correctly functioning or not before using in your Web Dynpro application.
This document clearly explains How to test the web service url and what is the correct procedure to consume the web service in SAP portal.

  • Logic Pro X loops not changing key when imported

    Hi everyone,
I am a newbie and I have found a problem when importing Audio files (Loops) from the Loop section into a song I am working on in the project area. When I do this instead of the imported loop changing its key to fit in with the Key signature of the song I am writing it stays in its own key. For example the song I am writing is in C Major and the imported Loop is in A sharp. I have been told that when you import this loop by dragging and dropping into the project area that it should automatically change to the key of the project which of course is C Major but this is not happening and I do not know why?
When I then try to add other instruments in the key of C Major for example a bassline I discover that playing a bass line in C Major is completely out of the tune with the imported loop which is in A sharp. When I play notes from the A sharp scale over this imported loop it is perfectly in tune so its clear that for some reason the loop is not changing its key when its imported.
Any solutions for this would be greatfully received.

  • Problem with File Naming when Importing in LR 3

When I previously imported in LR 2, under File Naming, I used a custom template:
{Custom Text}_{Date(YY)>>}_Sequence # (001)>>}.  Sometimes I added custom text and it showed up in my file name and other times I didn’t and then the file name just included the Date and the Sequence # without the Custom Text.
I am having a problem when importing in LR 3.  The dialog box on the right is now called File Renaming instead of File Naming. I am using the same Custom Template I used when importing in LR 2.  There is a line in the dialog box for Custom Text as there was in LR 2.  If I add a custom text name, it shows up at the beginning of the file name correctly as it did in LR 2.  But if I leave it blank, you’ll remember in LR 2 the resultant file name just included the Date and Sequence #, but in LR 3 the file name now is “untitled_Date_Sequence #”.
How do I do this so it doesn’t have “untitled” in the file name?
    Thanks,
    Matthew Kraus

Thanks for reply.  I am using Windows 7 64 bit. I am using 'Copy", not copy to DNG. There are 2 screen shots attached.  The first screen shot is from LR2 and you can see there is no "untitled" in the file name example.  The second is from LR3 and you can see "untitled" is in the first part of the file name in the example.  Do you need any other information?

  • Lightroom 1.4.1 Old thumbnails appear when importing new photos

I have recently been having a wierd issue with Lightroom 1.4.1 that on an initial scan of the forums have not found answered (apologies if this is has appeared before)
When importing a new batch of photos, the initial preview thumbnails display old images that already exist in my library.
These preview images sometime change quickly to the fresh imported image but when I import a large volume of RAW files the old images sometimes take a long time to change to the new ones, and sometimes require me to open each photo individually in order to update the thumbs which is slow and laborious.
I'm assuming that the numbers of my new images may be the same as existing ones and that's where the confusion arises.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    cheers
    Olly

The problem could be another program that's indexing your files.
Try installing Process Explorer (or the command line "Handle" program), both from Microsoft/SysInternals, and see if there's a process other than Lightroom that has the file open.

  • Loss of quality of photos when importing from iphoto to imovie

A question... When I import high resolution photos from iphoto and look at the preview on imovie HD, the quality is the same great quality that I can see on iphoto. Once I import the photo clip onto imovie, however, the quality is very poor on the imovie playback. This drop in quality is regardless of whether Ken Burns effect is used or not.
I already checked the quality on imovie preferences and it is already selected as the highest quality (default setting)
Any clues as to why the photo image quality should drop to such a poor image when importing a photo from iphoto to imovie?

    Hi L
There are a great difference on photos shown on a Mac with eg. iPhoto or
PhotoShop and what's going to video.
    a. Different resolution. Just the number of lines as the selected type of project
eg: PAL 4x3 = 625 lines ≈ same in pixles (But square not elongated or visa versa)
    b. iMovie "Viewer" is just an approximation. I connected my miniDV Camera
to FW and analog to a TV. Select in pref - Play back via Camera. Now I see
the final quality on my TV. Usally much better.

  • CL_SFW_SYSTEM_SETTINGS error when importing SPs

When we want to import the support packages SAP_BASIS, SAP_ABA, SAP_BW,

    The following is the solution.
    Symptom
When you import the Support Packages SAP_BASIS 7.00 Support Package 14 and
Support Package16 in a queue, the runtime error SYNTAX_ERROR occurs in
    class CL_SFW_SYSTEM_SETTINGS (program CL_SFW_SYSTEM_SETTINGS========CP).
    More Terms
    Syntax error, CL_SFW_SYSTEM_SETTINGS, SPAM, SYNTAX_ERROR,
    CL_SFW_SYSTEM_SETTINGS========CP
    Cause and Prerequisites
This problem is due to a program error.
    Solution
    Option 1:
Import Support Package 14 and Support Package 16 in separate queues.
    Option 2:
After the error mentioned above occurred, regenerate the enhancement spot
    SFW_SWITCH_CHANGED in transaction SE18.
To do this proceed as follows:
    1. Call transaction SE18.
    2. Enter the enhancement spot SFW_SWITCH_CHANGED.
    3. Choose "Display".
    4. Choose the menu option "Enhancement Spot -> Activate".
You can now import the queue using the Support Package Manager

  • Raw files become dull and lifeless when imported

i have an isue with the fact that i spend time setting up my camera for the rite white balance and exposure to get a quality image that might use some spot removal in post but thats about it, to have the images become dark, dull and lifeless in lightroom when imported.  when i try to bring the color back its just not the same.  why is this happening and how can i fix it.  i am glad that i saved the files elsware first, the raw images look fine in other sofware its just lightroom that is doing this. here is an screen shot of the same image side by side the one on the left is raw exactly how it lookes in camera with canon software and the one on the right is in lightroom. at first it looked the same but 2 seconds later it was dull and imo ugly.

You lack a basic understanding of what a Raw file is and what it isn't. It is data from the sensor siphoned off the camera's pipeline immediately after it is converted from analog to digital data, a checkerboard of the intensities of light received by red-seeing pixels, green-seeing pixels and blue-seeing pixels. A record of the intensities only (greyscale) and not the colors. All the colors will be created by the camera further down the line, on the way to a jpg. The Raw can, at best, be characterized as a b&w image, dark and flat because it is linear. The later processing will also apply a Tonal Response Curve to make it brighter, contrastier and more vivid. Since the Raw has been pulled out of the camera before it gets a chance to do all this, it has to be done by the Raw converter - Lightroom in this case. But the camera needs to display on its LCD a review of the shot, so it does do the rest of what is needed to produce a bright and pretty jpg, purely for display purposes, and then embeds that jpg in the Raw file. When you view the Raw on an application that is not a converter, it shows you that jpg. Open the Raw in the converter from the camera maker and it uses the same processing as the camera to produce a very similar image to that jpg, a more or less finished product. But the initial processing done by LR is more restrained and moderate because it is assumed that if you shot Raw you will want to design your own personal processing, an expression of your taste, judgement and vision. By having defaults that add only minimal processing LR is providing a starting point that leaves the road open to whatever direction you want to take it. But if you don't want to make that investment, Adobe bundles with LR a collection of presets that will move the sliders for you and there are many hundreds more on the internet, both free and purchasable.

  • Captured .avi file much shorter when imported as Premiere CS3 clip.

I'm new to Premiere CS3. My first project is to convert several old VHS tapes to DVD. My analog camcorder plays into an analog video-to-Firewire converter (ADSTech Pyro A/V Link). The Firewire digital stream was smoothly captured by Premiere and sent to my NTSF-formatted scratch disk under MS Windows XP Pro. The single .avi file (about 5 GB) plays back nicely in Windows Media Player which indicates a total length of 18min, 34sec. But when imported into a Premiere project, only the first 1min, 18sec appears.
    What's up?

    John--
I downloaded and ran GSpot v2.70a on my AVI file. Lot's of data!
In the GSpot "Container" window it reports these lines:
    File Length Correct
    DV Type 2 AVI
    Multipart OpenDML AVI (5 parts)
(41160 frames in first part, -96 frames follow)
The "Video" report window says "Codec(s) are installed" with the name "DVC/DV Video." Actual length is 22m, 46.979s (which differs from my original statement because there a stretch of blank tape conversion after the actual content).
I think I'll repeat the transfer and be watching at the critical times.
Thanks for the pointer to GSpot and also thanks, Jim, for your response.
