    Windows 7 x64
I used to be able to debug, around April 2011, but for many months I have not been able to.
I've search every thread on the internet regarding this problem and none of them have helped.
    I've tried:
Uninstalling CS5 (or CS5.5), including deleteing preferences
Uninstall Flash and ActiveX and reinstall the latest
Changed my Windows "hosts" file to include "127.0.0.1 localhost"
Uninstalled many programs such as VirtualBox, WinPcap, Wireshark
    Reinstalled Flash, Java, Adobe AIR

Played with settings on my network adapter (disabling IPv6, change advanced options etc)
I am able to ping myself successfully (ping 127.0.0.1, ping localhost) - both work
What could be causing this problem?
Are there any known software conflicts with Flash Professional?
If anyone can help resolve this, you will certainly win thousands of internets. I've been at this problem for months.

I had this same issue just this morning after updating from cs5 to cs5.5. I took a sort of shotgun torubleshooting approach to it, so I'm not sure what actual step did fix it but it did start working. I checked for updates through adobe help and updated(didn't fix it). I did the host thing as stated above, and restarted flash, didn't work. So i undid that. I then moved my cs5 fla file to a new folder only taking my images that were associated with it along too. I then cleared the debug log. I tried debuging and it worked. I think what really fixed it though was that I also go rid of the old debug xml file that gets created. When I moved to the new folder, I didn't take that file with me. It recreated when I tried debugging after the move. Hopefully this helps someone else that had this issue.

  • Is there a way to update Flash Professional CS5 / Air to publish for iOS7?

    Hi all,
I'm fairly un-knownledgeable about AIR but here's my issue:
I've been developing and prototyping an app in AS3 for some time- publishing to iOS from the iPhone OS Settings in Flash Professional CS5, and testing on my iPhone 4. However, ever since the iOS7 update, when my app runs on my iPhone it simply turns white. Too old a version of AIR, incompatible with iOS7? CS5 has AIR 2.0, and I've gone through steps to try and replace and update it with 3.9, though I can't find any tutorials or info on how to do anything earlier than CS5.5.
Having swapped some files around to get Flash to recognize AIR 3.9, the best I was able to get happen was for Flash to run the app in debug mode but instantly close it.
Any way I can update CS5 to support iOS7 Publishing?
    thanks

I've got my .bat file fully written out, but now the error the command-window brings up is:
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file.
The entire contents of the adt file in the AIR 3.9 compiler package is:
    @java -jar "%~dp0\..\lib\adt.jar" %*
I have little idea what this means, though I do have the latest version of java. The compiler package I'm using is the one found here: http://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/archived-air-sdk-version.html -the Adobe AIR 3.9.1030 SDK & Compiler Windows (218.2 MB).
    Further ideas? Thanks so far

I need this for my job and I'm unsure as to why this is happening. Has anyone else encountered this problem? And if so, how did you go about fixing it?

I am facing the same problem. My OS is Win7 and Hardware is Dell Inspiron laptop.
I have installed CS5 Premium 30-day trial. All app work fine except Flash CS5. Can someone help?

  • Allocator race detected, Adobe Flash Pro CS5 on Mac OS X 10.5.8 using network accounts

    Hello,
I manage a number of academic computer labs, three of which are Mac OS X 10.5.8 units with Adobe Flash CS5 installed. Users log in using AD credentials and the client computers are managed with settings in OD Workgroup Manager (MCX records). The AD plugin is set to not force local home directories and users' home directories are located on network storage. ~/Library/Caches/* has been redirected locally, but no other folders are redirected.
Users have been reporting an issue where Flash sometimes appears to freeze during loading. I've been told this has been happening for about two semesters, but I was not aware of the issue until today. It sounds like students have been powering off the machines and logging back in, and hoping Flash will work on that attempt. When a 'freeze' is encountered the Flash splash screen appears and the status below the "Adobe Flash Professional CS5" text states it is "Copying First Run Files..."
Checking the console, I can see that Flash appears to be attempting to access files, but is encountering issues. Dozens of times, I see errors like the following:

Messages like these, but listing different files, have been going on since I launched Flash at 11/3/11 3:06 PM.
If you have encountered this problem or have any information for me, please let me know.
    Thank you,
    Branden Ohlinger

Based on some searching and testing, it seems that if you redirect ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5 to a location on the local hard drive, rather than the network account storage, the problem ceases.
I hope this helps anyone else who may run into this problem.
    Take care,
    Branden

  • Very strange thing happening

I developed a spreadsheet today and had a very strange thing happen while I was working in Numbers.
Every minute or so Stuffit Expander would open and expand a file and place it on my computer. It started out as a quick flash on the screen and would be gone in an instant. I saw that it was being made by Stuffit so I opened up Stuffit and went into Prefs and told Stuffit to ask before expanding the file. This, then, stopped the process so I could see what was going on.
A folder was make called "[file name].numbersFolder"
Inside the folder are two files called: "buildVersionHistory.plist" and "index.xml". Along with these files is a "QuickLook" folder that has a thumbnail of the spreadsheet I am working on inside.
The xml file is large and has several URL's embedded including the Apple developer site (http://developer.apple.com/namespaces/sfa).
Can anyone tell me what is going on here.
    Looks fishy to me!

If I recall, this is StuffIt expanding what it thinks is a ZIP file. It is correct, in a way, but you don't want it to do that. I do not have StuffIt so I do not know what settings it has. Hopefully it has one along the lines of "automatically unzip zip files" and you can turn it off.

  • The Error Message 'Application descriptor file cannot be parsed' shows when compiling (Ctrl + Enter) Adobe AIR for Android applications on Flash Professional CS5.5

The Error Message 'Application descriptor file cannot be parsed' shows when compiling (Ctrl + Enter) Adobe AIR for Android applications on Flash Professional CS5.5
This is happening for most of the pupils and staff at our school and they are unable to complete their work.
This also happens on a fresh copy of windows and CS5.5 without any updates and also with all latest updates.
I have tried it on 32-bit and 64-bit CS5, Windows, Air and Java with the same error every time.
There are a small minority of users where this works fine for them with no issue.
I have tried re-setting user profiles.
I have tried a local admin and domain admin account with the same issue
I have noticed however that if the file is moved to the shared area it will compile. If it is on their documents area it will not compile. The users have full control in both locations. This is fine for staff but we are unable to give full control or modify access to the shared area for the pupil's
I have been through the online support section and it directed me to phone Adobe Customer care who informed me that all support has been discontinued for CS5, CS5.5 and CS6 and they will only support creative cloud.
Any ideas what to try next? There is no other information about this error and I cannot work out what is causing it.

I have tried and  able to package an apk using your XML file.Could you please make sure your XML file starting from line 1 and coloumn 0.Any space will results in the error (Application Descriptor file cannot be parsed)

  • Flash Pro CS5.5 "Debugger Failed to Launch"

I'm running Flash Pro CS5.5 on Win 7 Pro x64 with 8GB RAM.  My .fla is HUGE (it's a game I'm working on) ~750mb.  My exported .swfs are ~35mb.
I can open my project and test the movie one or two times (usually once) before I am unable to test the movie.  I'll see the "Exporting SWF Movie" splash screen and when that closes, nothing happens.
If I try to debug CTR+SHFT+ENTER the movie, I see the "exporting SWF Movie" screen and then get an error statin that the debugger failed to launch.
I have a feelin that this is due to the Publish Cache.  My machine is hovering around 4GB or RAM usage while rendering the movies.  Flash Pro CS5.5 is 32Bit so maybe the debugger is crashing trying to access memory outside of it's allocation?
I have uninstalled CS5.5, run the Adobe cleaner and reinstalled and have the exact same problem.
    Any ideas?

If you use timelines (ouch) you can get seamless video or audio loops. Although I imagine you may be doing some transforms on the sound and I myself would rather keep everything in code. But I have still to this day had very little luck with seamless looping via code-only. But the compression Flash does is no different at all than you batch compressing down all those audio files using Adobe Media Encoder.
It's not hard and will save you tons of memory. Just duplicate your full quality audio folder so you have them save. Make a MP3 preset in Adobe Media Encoder with your desired mp3 settings. Drag the folder you want to have better compressed versions and apply the preset to them. Bonus points if the folder is in the same location you initially imported from because you can just select all audio and hit update in flash and you're done. File size should drop drastically. Then while you have the audio still selected you can hit properties and tell them all NOT to compress on export so it'll use the compression you already did (in a cleaner way). Then your export time will drop significantly and your filesize will too. Your memory issue should be gone and flash should be stable.
Let me know if you want me to test exporting. I doubt I'll have an issue but unfortunately all that can tell you is either your Flash is acting up (8GB should be WAY more than enough), or you really somehow are running low on ram.

  • Flash Professional CS5.5 crashes while publishing for iOS

    Greetings,
I'm having the same problem as is detailed in the forum post below from March 8th:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/972499
The problem is that Flash Professional CS5.5 crashes every time I try to publish my 'Hello World' project for iOS. The crash happens anytime I press the OK or Publish buttons while configuring the iOS Settings. This is the tutorial I am attempting to complete:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/iphone/WS789ea67d3e73a8b2-240138de1243a7725e7-7ffc.html
I sent a crash report to adobe, which I could duplicate if that helps.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks,
    Jeremy

    Hi,
There could be an issue with your latest Java Runtime Environment. Could you please uninstall your current JRE and try install a version prior to that?.
You can find a list of JRE updates here at http://www.filehippo.com/download_jre_32/history/
    Thanks!

You should try contacting someone at Adobe Customer Support or Tech support (?).  While it would be nice, Adobe personell do not monitor these forums as a general practice.  These are user-to-user forums and getting help or attention from folks at Adobe by posting here is less likely to happen than if you try contacting them directly.

  • Flash Professional CS5.5 Runtime Error C++ Visual Basics

Basically, as I open flash professional CS5.5, it starts to load then all of a sudden., seems to stop loading and freeze ( and I've noticed it is always as it prepares the workspace), then an error message apppears saying that "flash has requested to open Runtime in an unusal way". I am not an expert, So I have no idea what this means. I have looked on support to find I have to pay to have my problem talked about, so I would just like to know has this happened to anyone else?l
Also, I was able to install fash properly, it worked the first day, then started coming up with this error. I have also bought a £600 PC tower, so I know it shouldn't have anything to do with any of the hardware, cos it's litterally top notch
So I would like to know is there a solution to this? and has anybody else had the same problem?

You're referring to Lesson 5 in the Adobe Flash Professional CS5: Classroom in a Book.  I found the same problem.  There is already a post about it here.

  • Flash pro cs5.5 project panel librarypath different from fla librarypath

    Hi,
I have a flash pro cs5.5 project which i can browse in the project panel. (Window -> Project to open panel)
I went to the settings dropdown in the panel -> project properties -> paths tab -> library tab
I added a path to a swc here.
However if i open the startup fla of the project
and go to File -> Actionscript settings -> library path
the previously added path is not there!
Why are these two paths different?
The startup fla needs to use some classes in the added swc.
I only added the swc to the library path from the project panel.
I was hoping the fla will compile and publish swf successfully!
This does not happen . So what good is this project panel -> library path settings for?
I need to use the project panel library path because i am opening this flash pro project in flash builder and any changes to build path done in flash builder only reflect in the library path in the project panel back in flash pro cs5.5
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks
    Soham

the project panel is just a convenience panel for you to use to access your flash project's files without using a file browser.  it has nothing to do with your publish settings.
if you don't see a great need to forego using your file browser, join the crowd.  the project panel was an idea with no great benefit.
someone probably made a big to-do about it and got enough people to vote for the feature so adobe added the feature.  and then found nobody cared so, it's not going to be in the next flash pro version.

  • Flash Pro CS5.5+AS3 + iOS (iPhone) build specifically

To start with, I really need some simple, definative examples of building a Facebook app for the iPhone using Flash Pro CS5.5+AS3 + iOS (iPhone).
There are endless examples for nearly every platform on the planet - except this one, and in nearly every language except Flash Pro CS5.5+AS3 + iOS (iPhone).
This is just one I have found that has some very good descriptions - albeit using coding other than what I want - but there is a link at the bottom to a downloadable AS sample.
    http://blog.yoz.sk/2010/05/facebook-graph-api-and-oauth-2-and-flash/
    So in simple terms.
    I'm using
Flash Pro CS5.5+AS3 + iOS (iPhone)
    I have the
GRAPH 1_8_1.swc files ... and as near as I can figure, I use the mobile.swc version?
My problem is that I don't see a lot of development on the Adobe discussion forums specifically targeted at the iOS iPhone/iPod touch model
Does anyone know of good tutorials, samples, (please no videos - impossible to follow usually, and often very poorly done...)
I want to be able to Authorize a user for Facebook, and store the login in a "private var sharedObj:SharedObject;" setup, and the authorization is done in a StageWebView setup,
and after all is authorized, the webview closes, and the user then only has to tap a button, and a pre-formatted string is posted to their newsfeed, any time they press the Post to Facebook button, the updated string will be posted.
Simple really. I don't want lists of friends, photos images or even to be able to read the newsfeed - just post to it.
    but ... I can't find a darn thing.
    thanks
