Weather app missing delete option

One can add a city but the option to delete a city from the list is missing.

To delete a city, click on the three horizontal lines in the lower right corner.  Then swipe the city you wish to delete from right to left.

iPhone default weather app : I can't delete cities.
I'm using iPhone 4S with latest updates of iOS.
In the default weahter app, I added several cities (Detroit, Seoul, Shanghai, etc) for the weather conditions but recently, I changed my mind that I need only the weather in my local city wherever I am.
So I decided to delete the cities I already registered, but checking after several hours after delete, the cities I deleted were shown up again automatically, I don't know why.
This is very annoying and this kind of weather app should work flawlessly because it's very simple.
I don't see iCloud backup this cities in the weather app, so I don't think this is synced, and if I delete cities, that is locally affected for my iPhone only, not other iPhone or iPad I have.
One potential problem I think is.. I found that the default weather app uses yahoo's weather service. When I clicked the trademark on the app, it directed me to Yahoo Korea site (yes, I live in South Korea), but Yahoo Korea's service discontinued 12/31/2012. Maybe, this is the issue, Yahoo Korea's service discontinue is causing this issue?

@LexSchellings I appreciate your advice on how to delete a city.  However if you read the thread that is not the problem.  We all know how to delete cities.  In fact most days I go into the weather app and delete cities I don't want.  The next day I come back and they have re-appeared.  This happens on my iphone (my Apple ID) but if I borrow my wife's iphone and her Apple ID (both phones are on IOS7) I can remove cities from her weather app
    This proves to me
    * That I know how to delete cities
    * That my finger is not the problem since it seems to be compatible with iPhones in a pink case
    * That there is a bug in the weather app [shock!]
This has been written about across a number of threads in Apple communities over IOS6 and IOS7.  Apple just ignore us.  I used to be a developer and the intermittent, doesn't happen all the time bugs are really irritating.  The best strategy as a development team is to find a device that does not cause the problem, "prove" it is fixed and move on.  That seems the be the current Apple strategy.
My real guess is that somewhere there is a record of the cities I want to see (perhaps created on an old phone or an old iPOD touch that shares the same apple ID) - when I delete a city, it stays away for a while but then my local app refers to this reference list and reinstates cities - not sure if that makes sense. (BTW I have gone back to my current iPod and tried deleting cities there but that doesn't help)

  • I have tried everything to delete a city from my weather app in ios7 and nothing works.  Does anyone know what to do?

How do you delete a city from the weather app in ios7?  I am stumped.

  • My weather app is missing

My weather app went missing on my iPad (3). Is Siri the only way to access it now?

Never mind... I just found the answer - there is no weather app on the iPad like the iPhone - (other than using Siri). I have other weather apps - I was just wondering if I pooched my iPad or not.

  • How can I delete the 1st city in the weather app

Hi, would any one know how can I delete the 1st city in the weather app. I can delete all other cities but not the 1st one. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Not sure why you can't delete it. I was able to delete all of them including the first one in the same way -- sliding to the left in the list and then tapping Delete. I didn't encounter any difference on the first one.

  • How to delete duplicate location in weather app

I have type in 2 duplicate location in the weather app. Any idea how to delete the duplicates?
    Regards,
    Janice

    Hi Tidbits,
I ended up going to Best Buy, where I got my LG G3 Verizon phone. The Tech tried everything to correct the duplication, but could not find how to do it. He deleted everything, and went back to factory settings. Darn if the duplicates didn't come back.
He went to my Verizon account, and went to the Verizon Cloud. Clicked on Contacts, and there were all the duplicate contacts. He deleted the duplications, leaving the original for each contact. BINGO the problem was solved.
I am using the Standard Messaging instead of Verizon messaging Plus. The Tech said that if I had been using Using Verizon Messaging Plus this may not of happened. I just down want the added cost of Messaging Plus.
    Thanks for the response.

  • How completely delete weather app since it doesn't work?

I finally got a phone (first one besides trust flip phone), and is iPhone 5s.  I was surprised to see it came with reinstalled crapware like a computer.  Since the weather app thing doesn't work anyway (has day/night mixed up, says sunrise is at 9:42 pm), how to just delete it?

I will try rebooting as suggested by the other reply.  (which I assume is intended to correct the apparently unremovable program)
No, resetting the phone will not enable you to remove the Weather app. Included apps cannot be deleted. What it may do is help solve the issue you have with the app.
And the people who are voluteerng their time to help you deseve a bit more respect than being called "dude".
    Best of luck.

  • How do I delete a city in Weather app on iOS 7?

I'm trying to delete a city on Weather app on my iPhone 5 using iOS 7.  How do I do that?

Thank you jimmyk11!!!! I've wanted to find simple, step-by-step instructions for this very frustrating topic, for quite sometime now.
Although, most iOperations, since iOS 7, require you to swipe lft/rght, then select the delete button. When I first read your reply, I thought to myself 'aha! So that's how! Little obvious tho, how could I not see it before?!' Awe well, as they say, Hindsights a you know what.

  • Downloaded new iOS 7 to my phone and it deleted all my downloaded apps. They are all in the App Store but not on the phone-any suggestions? Also the weather app is now in Celsius, how do you change back?

I downloaded ios7 to my iPhone and it deleted all my downloaded apps. Some of them can be opened in the App Store. How do I restore the apps. Also, it changed the weather app to Celsius, how do I change it back?

Any Apps purchased with your Apple ID can be downloaded again, no charge.   Tap Apps icon, tap purchases.   This should pull up App Store and past purchases.   Apps made on another ID must be downloaded with that ID    ( my sons and I share a library on the computer! but have separate IDs.
Weather app has a settings function to change to Fahrenheit

  • The basic weather app is worthless. Can I delete it?

It's always wrong. Always. It is the crappiest weather app in the history of weather. Who makes this pile of crap and why can't I leave them the nasty review they deserve? And why can't I delete it?

It uses Yahoo weather information. No, you can't deleted it. You can't delete any preinstalled apps. You can move it to a folder or to a page you don't use.
If you want to leave feedback about it, use the appropriate link on the Apple Feedback page:

  • Weather App that reports to your notification center at a specified time?

    Here's the scenario:
I work outdoors and live in the Midwest so the weather can and often does vary A LOT from day to day.
I plug my iPad in for the night and go to sleep.
When I wake up, I hit the home button to see my notification center. Contained there is the report from this weather app, telling me the basic information immediately: Current temperature, the day's high/low, any preciptiation chance.
Now here's the added bonus that I really want:
Everyone knows the temperature changes drastically from night to day, so a temperature reading would need to be taken near to the time that you wake up. What if you could set this app to display the information at a certain time? It's a concept just like an alarm where an action is triggered at a specified time, in this case, weather readings. Say I'm getting up at 6am. I'd set the app to report at 5:55am or something like that.
OR the much simpler apprach would just be to add a weather widget of some sort to the lock screen. If that's an option, I'd gladly go for that as well.
So does anything like this exist?
    Thanks to all!
    [EDIT]
I found the solution to my question. I had a feeling it was something really easy that I was just missing. Thanks! Feel free to delete this thread. I would but I'm not sure how or if I even can.

You are correct that things would be easier if it was automatic. However, you will generally find that it is a program with a built-in scheduler, such as a backup program or a video recording program, that left some code behind even if the program was trashed or removed from the system.
As far as the PDP11, I don't think I could afford the electricity to run one even if I had one. The PDP11 is the first computer I was exposed to in medical imaging. I list it because every once in a while it draws out the truth from folks like yourself when they admit to knowing what one is.
I think the first disk drives that thing used were housed in recycled washing machines using the old motors to drive the spindles.

  • How to set the weather app to follow location

is so there a way that you can set the weather app in iOS 8 to follow your location, I know you can set the location services in privacy this is set to always but it still doesn't follow the location I'm in.
    APriam I missing something?
    THank you

The weather app already does follow you. There is nothing to set. The first entry is always your current location and cannot be deleted. You are able to add other locations as well.
