Weather icon (just a dummy icon?????)

Why doesn't the weather icon show an actual temp??? The calendar shows the actual date???

The date to display on the calendar icon can be obtained locally... for the weather, it would need to access the network to look it up.
I guess it would be slick to offer a configuration setting to allow / disallow "live" icons, as I'm sure some people would prefer to disable to maximize battery life.
Wouldn't be surprised to see this kind of polish added over time... this will be a fun platform to watch as it matures.

  • Calendar Weather Icon & Temp

Would Apple consider adding a small weather icon and temp to the current and following 5 days in their iCal and iOS calendar? The data could be pulled from the same place the weather app does, it would give folks better, quicker planning at a glance..."Hey, what are you up to this weekend? Would you like to bring the families to the park?"....glaces at calendar "Schedule seems open...and the weather looks to be sunny and 82 degrees."
If they tap on the weather icon/temp, they can see more, but having the weather in the current schedule at a glance would seem to be handy.

    No.
The Weather icon is not updated with actual information.
Think about it. If 4,000,000 iPhones(presumably more now) were constantly updating that icon it would(could, rather) create a tremendous load on the servers. That isn't to say it's not possible or that other phones/devices don't do it, only, it's just wasteful - in my opinion...

  • Intereractive weather icon

In the next iOS the weather icon should be interactive like the iCal icon, showing how warm it is instead of just saying 23*

  • Why does my temp on my weather icon say 23?

Why does my weather icon say 23 when my other iphones say 72degrees as the main icon?
Is there a setting I need to fix to have it say 72? All my temps are set to farenheit...this bugs the **** out of me.
    please help.

well my weather icon shows 73 on it. for a few months when running 1.1.4 it showed 23 and then one day it just switched without changing any settings. it has showed 73 ever since, through 2.0 and 2.0.1, who knows might just be a bug in the software!!

  • Weather icon changed from 23 to 73 after restore

Is this a way of apple knowing which customers have restored thier phones if they send them back?
    Or what's the point?

Mine has always said 73. Sounds like maybe your weather icon was just showing Celsius before and is now showing Fahrenheit.

  • Weather icon missing

Im missing the weather icon on my iPad just like the one on the iPhone. What can I do pelease help?

    Herbalife1205-
It is possible the iPhone's Weather App is not compatible with the iPad, so it was not transferred  when you synced the iPad.
Run iTunes on your computer and select Apps on the left side.  The various Apps will appear in groups according to what devices they are compatible with.

  • Weather icon should show current weather

if they can have the Calendar icon show the current date and day, they need to have the Weather icon show the current temp and weather.

Nevermind, read the question wrong. I missed the word "icon" and to spare myself embarassment, I'll just delete. I agree with the OP, it would be cool.

  • Does anyone know how to correct the default city name in the weather icon in ios7

The name of the default city for the weather icon in ios7 on my iPhone5 has mysteriously changed from Seattle, WA to Marietta, WA, does anyone know how to change it back?

okay so youll go to the weather app. you'll click on the bottom right corner icon that looks like three lines. you'll type in your correct citys zip code or just the city whatever you decide. thats how you add the new one, now to get rid of the wrong one. if you swipe to the left on the incorrect city in the same screen where it shows all of your cities, it will give you the option to delete it (the same way as if you were deleting almost anything in ios7) I hope this makes sense!! feel free to reply for any questions or screen shots!!

  • Why doesn't the weather icon display the current temperature in your "local" city?

Why doesn't the current temperature display in the weather icon on the home screen?

The application works and I do have location-based services on. I'm just wondering why the icon itself does not show the current temperature. Sort of how they upgraded the clock after show the current time.

  • Conky weather icon issues

Ok, I have been using the conkyForecast script for a while now, and it's been nice, but, for some reason it decided not to show anything until today actually.
So, I started investigating the conky man page, and found that it has weather information available to it as well.
    You have to use --enable-metar and/or --enable-xoap.
The xoap apparently enables metar as well.
Anyway, I used the conky-git package, but had to change the ccmake to cmake-gui in order to get it to build.
After all that, the weather works fine, except for when displaying the weather icon.
The icon argument returns a number, which apparently corresponds to pngs from weather.com  (not that I've been able to find the kit), but the icons are provided with conkyForecast (for which I'm thankful).   But how do I get conky to display the icon?
I'm starting to think that feature may just be broken at this time, but I'm just curious to see if I've done something odd with this and didn't intend to.
When I look in the weathericons, there is a 26.png that would correspond with the cloud_cover option, but the icon shows 26, rather than that png.    Do I need to have the images placed in a certain place or what?
I've searched all over the place, but most things that pop up are for conkyForecast, rather than for any information on this within conky.
I looked at the weather portions of the code as well, but can't tell where it's looking for the icon, if it is at all.
Any suggestions as to where to look for more info?  I don't do irc really, but I may have to break down and install an irc client and go ask on the #conky channel.

There is no stock weather app on iPads. Use the App Store app to search for, download or purchase a weather app of your choosing.

  • There are some sma;l; weather icons in the upper right. However they show weather for New York. How do I change that to San Francisco?

The small icons for weather just appeared. I used to have a weather for San Francisco box on the main opening page for Google, but everything I had there simply disappeared one day. These small weather icons appeared at the upper right . They are for New York.
I would klike to change them to San Francisco, but actually I would like to GET BACK what I had before. No idea why it disappeared.

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • The weather Icon on trhe verizon homepage

How do you set the weather Icon on the home page ,so it will stay where you set it?

    See the following topic:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5326470?start=0&tstart=0
Also note there is no built-in Weather "app" on the iPad (if that's what you were looking for), accessible from the home screen as there is on the iPhone. The iPads never came with one.

  • Change weather icon to show local Camp Hill, PA

The Weather icon shows 73 degrees for some location it came pre-set with and I want it to show the current Camp Hill, PA which is one of the sites I setup.

Tap on the i in the lower right hand and then the + in upper left to add a location. To go between the different locations you can have you swipe the screen left or right.

  • Weather icon disappear...

I have never jailbreak my new iPhone 4, but after I have sent a email out, I jumped back to the home screen, I notice the Weather Icon disappeared. Restart and reboot my phone, but still can't get it back.
Anyone know how to restore this app without a complete restore?

I have checked all my folders, all the screen, did a sync, its not there. Indeed at one moment my Contact starts to disappear as well.... the icon is gone but the word Contact is still remain, I click on it and I still see my phone book, as I exit the app, I saw the Contact icon re-appeared.
