Weather Widget Changing location

I'm new to MAC and I am trying to customise my weather widget, I live in Brisbane Australia, but every time I try to change this widget, it reverts back to Brisbane, CA. Any tips anyone? Thank you. G

• press the return / enter key on the keyboard
Three choices should drop down:
• Brisbane, Australia (Queensland)
• Brisbane Archerfield, Australia (Queensland)
• Brisbane International, Australia (Queensland)
Make your selection and click Done.

My Mom has a G4 running OS 10.4.11. She likes to use the weather widget (I never use widgets). However, the default location changed to another city. All I'd like to know is how I can change it back to the city or zip code she lives in. Thanks a lot for your time and assistance.

What weather widget?
Identifying the exact app would help enormously with providing a solution.
Some of these have a 'rollover' functionality so you wont always see the component you are trying to identify. Move the mouse around the widget face.
FWIW- AccuWeathers widget has been playing up[for a month or more]. They have been cycling their urls on the site (witness broken bookmarks too) and mine has broken frequently, based on SQL or whatever location the widget has to look up.
It does restore, but IME has rebroken several times. Good luck.

Mac weather widget change city always reverts when restarting system?

I go to the mac widget, change my city to where I am from but then every time I restart the system the weather location is Cupertino. I've tried removing the widget and then bringing it bak to the dashboard but it doesn't fix the problem. What can I do??

I am guessing we just need to help the app talk to what ever server it was talking to, or give it a new server if there is one out there.

The part in bold( v1 ) is the part i added. because a different widget that does work has that, as
what i am guessing, is the server it comunicates with. But I am having trouble changing the permissions
for the .plist file this comes from. It won't let me save my changes. Any ideas anyone ?

Xperia Weather widget GPS location automatic update issue

Folks,
Having an issue with Xperia Weather widget location automatic update. It just stays whatever I set manually before even selecting "use my current GPS location".It finds location OK, but should it follow then automatically or it works only in "manual mode" ?
GPS settings are activated OK.
On other weather app this feature works fine.
Anybody experiencing the same problem?

That "use my current GPS feature" is just to set the location. It doesn't works as automatic mode to update your location on it's own.
You will have to do it manually again if you wish to change the location.

While viewing the weather or news headlines, press the Menu Key and touch Refresh to get the latest information.
Changing News and Weather Settings
You can configure a number of settings for News and Weather.
The location and related settings also affect the display of the News and Weather widget and the Clock application.
To open the News and Weather settings screen, press the Menu Key and touch Settings.

Weather widget - location

On my yoga 2 10 tablet I would like two weather widgets. One for my current location and the other for the city where my daughter lives. How do I prevent widget two from defaulting to my current location?

I actually somehow broke it on my lenovo phone, but i think that i have 2 different lenovo weather widgets, and i can use them separatelly with different cities, but i don't know how i did that. One more stupid thing about lenovo weather widget is that you can't change the weather provider, as accuweather is not very accurate. I'll check how i did that if you like to use exactly the lenovo widget.

Location Service not Working with Weather Widget in Notification Center

Is ibt just me or is the weather widget not validating locations? I have restored iOSS 6.0.2 and toggles location services (enable/disable) for the app and removed it from the notification menu. It is working on both my iMac and MBP. Any suggestions? Anyone else having issues?

I see your point.
Launching the Weather app updates, but that's not push, right? So it could be that the widget in the NC relies on push. But why does it need to? Why doesn't it request an update when I pull down the NC, just like when I start the Weather app?
It seems to happen quite often, not like it's a one-off kind of server problem. I haven't been able to discern a pattern, but it's often enough to be so annoying that I almost want to remove it from the NC.

Weather Widget Problem - UK Locations

Has anyone noticed that for many UK places, there are multiple locations listed by the weather widget for the same place (enter just the village/town/city then press enter to get the list of matches)?
I tested a couple and clicked the place name (to take me to the accuweather.com page for that location): the page was the same for both versions of the location, despite the widgets displaying different data.
Sometimes if 2 widgets are set up with each having different versions of the same place, they will be different enough to show day (blue) and night (purple).
How can i tell which place to choose? It's not even like i can follow the widget through to the web page with the full data to work out which is correct, as they both result in the same info.

Are you using the Apple weather widget? If you type in the place (just the place) the drop down menu will list your options. As you can see, I am not in the UK. However, I have not had any trouble with identifying a proper location. If you could provide a couple of examples, perhaps I (or someone) would be able to help.
FWIW, I use the weather bug widget - I like the presentation better and it certainly lists all of the options.

Weather Widget Only Recognizes U.S Locations?

Hi everyone.
I'm a new MacBook owner, and during the process of trying to customize my weather widget I can't seem to get it to recognize Calgary, Alberta, Canada (where I live). I found the little "i" feature in the bottom right-hand corner and have tried both the city name as well as my postal code, but nothing changes. It defaults back to Cupertino every time I try to reset it.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance for your time.

The weather widget isn't US only - I'm in Canada, and no problem here. Type in Calgary and hit "Return", and a menu pops up, offering a choice of "Calgary, Canada(Alberta)" and "Calgary Okotoks Air Park, Canada(Alberta)".
Assuming your network connection is working OK and your isp isn't illegally blocking access to any web sites because of a labour dispute, perhaps you could try deleting the "~/Library/Preferences/widget-com.apple.widget.weather.plist" file in your "home" folder...

Change to Weather Widget

I am incredibly disappointed with the change to the weather widget. The appeal of the widget was that I could easily check the current and future weather without changing the channel! Now, when I select the weather widget it takes me to a muted weather channel screen that only displays current conditions, not future ones, and does not even seem to offer an option to see future weather conditions. THe absolute worst is that it takes me away from whatever I was watching and to get back to it I have to exit out of the weather widget. If I wanted to be redirected to a different channel I would go to the weather channel, not use the widget.
I cannot overstate how much I HATE this change. Is there a way for me to change it back to the way it was?

I also hate the change because when I go to expand the weather ,now I am getting Dallas weather but I live in NYC,what happens tried to delete Dallas ,but it keeps returning.

I change the weather to my location and it goes back to VA when it reboots. FF5.0 Fedora 15

I have used FF since 2.0 I have always been able to personalize the weather to my location and could on FF 5.0 for a few days. Not now. It always goes back to VA>

Weather Widget bug: doesn't display full city name initially

I have a brand-new Mac Mini.
The weather widget is configured incorrectly if you go through the default set-up process for Philadelphia.
I went through the standard Mac OS X first-time setup, telling it my location (Philadelphia, USA). This pre-configured my time zone correctly for east coast, but for some reason pre-configured my weather widget for Philadelphia, NY (instead of the MUCH more likely Philadelphia, PA).
BUT it just said "Philadelphia" on the widget, and in the widget settings, so it looked correct... it took me a week to figure out why the weather data was always so wrong. It was just on a whim that I tried re-entering the location in the settings (even though it appeared to be correct.)
Really, it should be smart enough to assume the larger city, but at the very least the widget should have displayed "Philadelphia, NY" in the settings instead of just "Philadelphia".

I can't help with a fix but I can confirm seeing the same behavior, not only with the 'snow' image but with others. It is very erratic: sometimes the city name underlines & I get the hand pointer on mouse overs, sometimes no underline but the hand pointer, sometimes nothing but a flicker of the hand that reverts to the arrow as soon as the pointer comes to a stop over the name.
Worse, this seems to have little to do with the ability to click through to the web page. Sometimes there is no visual pointer change or underline cue but the link is live; other times it isn't.
Try this: Cmd-option-clicking on the weather graphic icon cycles through all the graphics & changes the location to "Nowhere." Cute, but sometimes "Nowhere" sticks as the location the next time Dashboard is displayed, sometimes not. Other anomolies have been noted in other threads, too.
Bottom line is I think the weather widget isn't very sophistocated & is easy to confuse.

No kidding. It took me a second to realize what you meant, but yeah. If the calendar icon can change, why is the weather widget left static?

A slight modification suggested to William's procedure:
In the "City, State or Zip Code" field, type your Zip Code and press Return. After a moment, it will change from the Zip Code you typed to your exact city and state. Then click Done.
Sometimes typing City/State or Zip without pressing Return does not find the correct location. Typing Zip Code, pressing Return, then clicking Done after the correct city displays is the most reliable method for setting the location of the Weather widget.
