Does anyone know the source of the Weather Widget data?  (ie. Accuweather or TWC another).  I did an inspect the IP data from my STB which indicated the source of the data (169.254.1.42), but ns reverse lookup only provided:

Not sure where you got the IP address from, but as listed in the wikipedia article, it is only used for local comms. Most of use have a 192.168.x.y IP address on our STBs. This is just used to communicate to the rotuer that then will nat the address out.
I know this doesn't answer your real question though. My guess is either accuweather or weatherchannel. Try going to either one of these sites and enter your zipcode (same as you did in the widget). See which forecast more closely matches.

  • Weather widget date screwed up post 01/01/09

Hi. I'm in New Zealand, and as of yesterday my weather widgets are showing the wrong day. It's Saturday morning here, and any New Zealand (or Australian) city I add on my dashboard displays as Friday. Up until a day or so ago this has never been a problem. I've called a few other Mac-users in NZ, and they're all having the same problem, where the dates/forcasts on their weather widgets seem to have defaulted back to American time zones. Any other non-Americans having this issue? Thanks.

  • The time on the weather widget on my home screen does not match the phone time.  Initially it did, but one day it started being 1 hour earlier than the phone time.  I went into Settings/Date

The time on the weather widget on my home screen does not match the phone time.  Initially it did, but one day it started being 1 hour earlier than the phone time.  I went into Settings/Date & Time & now the time on the weather widget is correct, but the phone time is 1 hour earlier.  Any suggestions??

Settings | Date and Time  then select Automatic date & time, and Automatic time zone. In this way, the carrier time will populate the phone. If it's still going 1hour off, then I'd call VZW and inquire if they have a tower issue, specially if it happens in one particular place.

  • My weather widget is set to California, and I am on the east coast. Way to reset it?

For some reason, my weather widget (the slide down screen) is set to Cupertino, California. Problem: I'm in Washington, D.C and there isn't a real reason for it to be in California....
I updated my phone, so it is the most up to date.
My locations services is on, and it is set to D.C, so is there any way to fix this problem?
    Thank you so much!

Sure, bring up the weather widget and select it.  Select "i" at the bottom right corner and turn Local Weather ON

  • Weather widget not working after upgrade to Snow Leopard (Australian areas)

The weather widget is not working since I upgraded to Snow Leopard.
The feed seems to have changed from Accuraweather or something like that to Yahoo!Weather, and Yahoo!Weather seems to have problems (at least concerning weather data feeds from places in Australia).
I live in Kempsey, New South Wales (Australia). I can't input that address, because it won't validate. When I try typing my address in the widget autocompletes with "Kempsey, Austral Eden, New South Wales (Australia)" (FYI, Austral Eden is a rural parish near Kempsey, but Austral Eden is not in Kempsey and Kempsey is not in Austral Eden). That address will validate, but there seems to be no weather feed: ie. I don't get any information displayed in the widget.
The nearest address that will validate correctly is "Port Macquarie, New South Wales (Australia)". The Yahoo!Weather feed doesn't provide any information about that, either.
I can get a weather data feed for Canberra. But Canberra is 800 kilometres from here.
I think I want to change back to AccuraWeather. How would I do that?

I'm annoyed by this as well.
I was planning on buying my father the Snow Leopard upgrade for Christmas, but there is no way he'll want it without a working Port Macquarie weather widget. ( I'm not kidding! )
I've looked at the AccuWeather widget as well, but it is really ugly!

  • Weather Widget bug: doesn't display full city name initially

    I have a brand-new Mac Mini.
The weather widget is configured incorrectly if you go through the default set-up process for Philadelphia.
I went through the standard Mac OS X first-time setup, telling it my location (Philadelphia, USA). This pre-configured my time zone correctly for east coast, but for some reason pre-configured my weather widget for Philadelphia, NY (instead of the MUCH more likely Philadelphia, PA).
BUT it just said "Philadelphia" on the widget, and in the widget settings, so it looked correct... it took me a week to figure out why the weather data was always so wrong. It was just on a whim that I tried re-entering the location in the settings (even though it appeared to be correct.)
Really, it should be smart enough to assume the larger city, but at the very least the widget should have displayed "Philadelphia, NY" in the settings instead of just "Philadelphia".

I can't help with a fix but I can confirm seeing the same behavior, not only with the 'snow' image but with others. It is very erratic: sometimes the city name underlines & I get the hand pointer on mouse overs, sometimes no underline but the hand pointer, sometimes nothing but a flicker of the hand that reverts to the arrow as soon as the pointer comes to a stop over the name.
Worse, this seems to have little to do with the ability to click through to the web page. Sometimes there is no visual pointer change or underline cue but the link is live; other times it isn't.
Try this: Cmd-option-clicking on the weather graphic icon cycles through all the graphics & changes the location to "Nowhere." Cute, but sometimes "Nowhere" sticks as the location the next time Dashboard is displayed, sometimes not. Other anomolies have been noted in other threads, too.
Bottom line is I think the weather widget isn't very sophistocated & is easy to confuse.

  • Apple weather widget

Does anyone by chance know if in the new iOS 6 which I have installed on my iPhone they will update the weather widget to show a real time temperature dispaly instead of the constant 73' icon. Or at least can they give the option of having the temperature displayed by the battery icon or wi-fi 3G/4G icon. It would be nice if the weather widget was a little more up to date considering todays technologies... Just a thought.

We are all users here, just like you. But you can tell Apple about your wishes here:
    Apple - iPhone - Feedback
And there are many 3rd party weather apps in the Store as well.

  • Rss Weather Widget

Does anyone know of a good rss Weather widget that will not
only display text, but the appropriate weather image (sun, rain,
etc.) like weather.com has? I'm not familiar enough with XML to

    Hi --
I am working on just such an item for my company's website

  • Weather Widget Problem - UK Locations

Has anyone noticed that for many UK places, there are multiple locations listed by the weather widget for the same place (enter just the village/town/city then press enter to get the list of matches)?
I tested a couple and clicked the place name (to take me to the accuweather.com page for that location): the page was the same for both versions of the location, despite the widgets displaying different data.
Sometimes if 2 widgets are set up with each having different versions of the same place, they will be different enough to show day (blue) and night (purple).
How can i tell which place to choose? It's not even like i can follow the widget through to the web page with the full data to work out which is correct, as they both result in the same info.

    Hello Richard:
Are you using the Apple weather widget? If you type in the place (just the place) the drop down menu will list your options. As you can see, I am not in the UK. However, I have not had any trouble with identifying a proper location. If you could provide a couple of examples, perhaps I (or someone) would be able to help.
FWIW, I use the weather bug widget - I like the presentation better and it certainly lists all of the options.

  • Weather widget replacement for Windows 7

I work as an IT for a small business. And I believe that Microsoft once again has removed one more of their products that was sold to us. I keep getting tech support calls about weather widget not working on Windows 7 desktops installed in our offices. I
    need to replace this:
with something that actually shows a weather forecast and runs on a Windows 7 desktop.
    Any ideas?

    Ok,
There is a serious issue with the Widgets platform, that has been clearly stated before.  If you are not technically oriented, maybe you should use any of the other alternatives on the replies for your question (except the answer to look out the
window which is between silly and idiotic, plus mean.
Now, if you *do* want to fix the widget. The solution is somewhere else and is basically to "touch" a configuration file and restarting the widget.  The solution is temporary so a [hopefully] definitive solution is exposed on the thread and
is basically locking down the file after "touching" it, with a date in the future.
    The solution is

As to why someone would want to run such an outdated and unsafe piece of software?   Simple: Some people do not mind, and in fact are willing to take responsibility (to him/herself) if somehting bad happens to the system, plus this particular
widget is simple, unobtrusive, light (doesn't slow anything down), not spammy and is "always there" to glance at instead of going to a website as someone suggested.   It reminds me in fact of the beautiful Windows 8 Weather app.
So, some people may still want to run this widget. Above is the solution to this pestering issue.
Since you are the IT for other people, not for yourself, I do recommend to use an alternate product.

  • Weather widget fails for my town.

As of the end of December, roughly, the weather widget has failed to receive info for my town, on two different computers, so I'm certain this isn't based on my own computer.
If anybody is willing to confirm, try adding, "Roblin, Swan River, Manitoba (Canada)" to a Weather Widget. It'll validate the name, but once you click it and click done, it fails to load any data.
Any way to get this fixed?
    -Chris.

Clicking on "The Weather Channel" logo on the back and searching for my town on their site will give me the weather, and my iPod touch still receives data for my town in the weather app as well.

  • Weather widget stopped working

I'm using Macbook Pro Retina 865 with OS X 10.9.4
Recently, I noticed that my weather widget stopped updating new data of my place 'Hanoi, Vietnam'. I tried to close the current widget and re-open it but no avail. However, if I enter new place, the widget still worked perfectly. I don't know what the cause of this problem is and hope that someone can help.
    Thanks in advance.

Looks like this is a problem with Weather.com (the provider of the data). When I type in 'Hanoi' nothing shows.

  • Strange Weather Widget Issue

I have three weather widgets added to my iPhone: 44319 (Akron, OH), 44115 (Cleveland, OH), and 44094 (Willoughby, OH). The Akron and Cleveland ones work just fine, but the Willoughby one always says 90 degrees and day time no matter what. I know the information is getting updated because I have the same location setup on my iMac and it works fine. Any ideas why it's not updating on my iPhone? I've tried removing it and re-adding it multiple times.

Hrrmmmm. Upon further inspection the problem appears to apply for all towns immediately surrounding Ft Collins (Loveland, Windsor, Wellington).
If it is because a person manually supplies the data, they must be on vacation. It's been 81 since Sunday.
If it is AccuWeather providing incorrect data it is just to the iPhone. The information for Ft Collins updates correctly on my dashboard in 10.4.10.
The surrounding areas not showing correct information seems to support the theory that it is something to do with the information supplied being incorrect. If so, who should we contact to have the issue resolved?
Edited to add: I've also tried deleting the city, resetting the device and going back to the application to add it back. When I return to the weather widget the listing is already there, even though I had deleted prior to resetting. Has anyone who has this problem tried restoring all the settings or restoring the entire device yet?

  • Which weather widget? Or can Apple's weather widget be hacked?

The default weather widget has stop working since upgrading to Snow Leopard (because of some plonker's decision to change data providers). Any recommendations for a different weather widget? I'm looking for something as graphically nice as Apple's haven't been able to find one so far.
Or can Apple's weather widget be hacked to use a different data provider?

The default weather widget is working fine for me. I also tried this one:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/information/weatherbuglocalweather.html
It's working here also. Are you in the US?

  • My weather widget keeps saying "weather offline" when im on wifi or have full service?

on my iphone 4 in the notification centre, my weather widget says "weather offline" sometimes, most of the time is shows the weather, but sometimes it is offline even when im on wifi or have full service. its so annoying. how can i fix this?

I'm seeing it too, and I know of no fix. So it's not just you. And, I'm in the US so it's not a problem in your country only.
I have found no pattern as to why I get "Weather Offline" but other times it's updated just fine.
Sometimes the Weather app refuses to update the local weather, other times it gets updated. I assume the issues are related. All the other weather locations I create in the app are updated, so I know it's not the weather server that's the problem. It's just the local weather in the app and notification center (or centre!)
Guess it's another iOS 5 bug. Let's hope it gets fixed in the next release.
