Weather Widget Has Stopped Updating

Last week I started transitioning from a satellite internet connection to a wisp (wireless isp). When I am connected to the satellite connection, the weather widget updates when I bring up the widgets on my screen. When I am connected to the wisp, it doesn't. Right now the 5 day forecast is for Friday - Wednesday (it's Sunday).
The calendar widget updates to the current day.

  • ITunes stops updating podcasts / iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?

    Hi,
My iTunes is set to automatically update podcasts and keep the last five episodes of each podcast.
However, iTunes appears to stop updating podcasts after several (five?) unwatched episodes and gives me an exclamation mark in the podcast overview. Clicking on that, I get the message: "iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?"
This is not what I intend... and not  what I  told iTunes to do... (at least this my reading of the below settings)
This stopping is rather less then ideal: (1) if I am going away for two weeks, which I often do, I would still like to have the last five days of news, not the last five days of news back from the date I left, (2) I need to click update for approx. 20 podcast on regular basis, (3) my iPhone is synced to iTunes as soon as I come home, if iTunes does not have the podcasts downloaded, they are not copied over to the iPhone, and the iPhone will attempt to download the episodes via 3G next time I play the podcast on the go, (4) I am mainly using iTunes functions, such as smart playlists and podcasts, through another app (Plex, a fullscreen media player) and it is a pain to have to go to iTunes to manually do things. That is why this bothering me...
How can I get iTunes to behave as intended? (From reading through old posts I know that there is a Doug script adressing this problem, which I have just set up, but I would prefer to use internal settings if possible... maybe I am just missing a setting)
    Thank you for your ideas!

Thank you for the response, Roger!
OK, that's how it is then.
The iTunes podcasts settings should be reworded in that case because it suggest something different from what it does. And, of course, it would be ideal for Apple to make this more flexible and allow users to set up their podcast downloads in their way and not be so motherly (c'mon, Apple, your users are not as dumb as you think, and they have uncapped Internet connections these days anyway)...
Btw., for anyone interested, this is external script I am using now:
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=updateexpiredpodcasts
Including the "cron job" setup here:
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/2011/12/updated-update-expired-podcasts-v2-2-and-l aunchd-project/
Cannot tell how well it works because I have just set it up, other members of the forum say it works for them...
If anyone knows of in-app solutions, please share...

  • ITunes has stopped updating this podcast...

I'm curious if anyone has a fix for this ACTUAL iTUNES MESSAGE:
"iTunes has stopped updating this podcast becasue you have not listened to any episode recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?"
It seems crazy to me that iTunes would just stop updating my podcasts because I haven't listened in a while. It would be just as ridiculous if Tivo stopped recording TV shows because I haven't watched them in a while. It doesnt mean I dont want to listen/watch in the future.
    APPLE: FIX THIS!

Apple, count me as another user who wants you to do something different here. I would prefer to simply get a message that I haven't listened to a podcast in a while then not have it being downloaded. Especially now with advanced subscription settings that let us change the subscription on a per-podcast basis, this behavior should be changed. Maybe it's already in the queue?
    Suggested change:
Just warn with option to stop warning, but always continue to download as per subscription settings.
I have a number of podcasts that I'm "subscribed to" but I don't listen to as regularly as they are published. However when i'm going to hit the road, I want those episodes there, especially on my ipod. I don't want to have wait for them to all update!

  • ITunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened . .

I found an archived article from two years ago: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8453115 and have found subsequent articles talking about outboard solutions that I have tried and do not work. The problem continues to this day. Why doesn't Apple just fix this themselves?
Exact text of the message, as if it is a mystery: iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?
Yes. Yes. Permanently, yes. Stop asking the question.

Although you may not like the way it's set up, Apple appears to have done this deliberately and therefore does not consider it broken. I suspect that they do it that way to conserve bandwidth.

  • ITunes has stopped updating my podcast, posted weekly

iTunes has stopped updating my podcast, posted weekly: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/kpfk-4-oclock-report-jon-wiener/id492010645
first one missing is Oct. 29, http://archive.kpfk.org/mp3/kpfk_141029_160001johnwiener.MP3
    http://archive.kpfk.org/xml/johnwiener.xml -- how can I fix this?

iTunes is not reading your feed at all because there is a parsing error in Episode 7:
    <item>
    <title>Episode 7 - How to Invade Africa</title>
    <link>http://thehistoryofpodcast.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/a-history-of-hannibal-episode- 7-how-to.html/link>
There is no '<' in the closing 'link' tag and this is wrecking the feed.

  • Mail rss feed has stopped updating

my RSS feed in Mail has stopped updating. The last updates were on August 10. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Same here for a couple of weeks now. Only thing that helps is restarting mail. As seen from all the complaints here, it is a random problem and is continuing for some time now. And i think there will be no help from Apple since they have decided in there wisdom to drop the RSS feeds in the mail app all together from the newer OSX versions. I'm on OSX 10.6.8.

    OK. I will work backwards.
You certainly don't want to have to delete apps every time that they need an update, for any number of reasons. Losing data first and foremost would be a drag, but the overall hassle would be absurd. All things being equal, you should be able to update apps in the future after you delete them and reinstall them. I delete and reinstall apps all the time and I am also able to update them when updates are available for the apps. I just wanted to know if you had any success in any fashion installing apps.
Resyncing/refreshing the Apple ID/iTunes account wouldn't seem to be the issue either if you can download apps or other content from the iStores. Your ID is being accepted.
That leaves us with I'm not sure what. But I think I would try this trick fix and see if it helps.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.

  • My I phone 5 has stopped updating emails, Facebook and the App Store won't load

My I phone 5 has stopped updating email, Facebook and the App Store. Any thoughts please

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

it looks like my iphone has stopped updating, what can I do?

If the progress bar stopped during the update process, press and hold the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again.
After that start the update again.

    Hi--
Suddenly FCP has stopped showing color correction, etc. on my ext. monitor.
I've tried restarting FCP, and resetting the A/V prefs, to no avail.

    One more stupid answer...
Let's make sure you are actually sliding the sliders on the clip that is active on the canvas!!!
    hahaha
If you were smart enough to check those other things... well -- Can't tell you HOW many times that has happened to me.
But yes, I didn't actually read your post... I read the title and scanned. You said no longer updating CC. This happens to me too.
Not sure why. I usually trash my preferences and restart etc. Generally fixes it. Not sure if it's a ram thing or what.

  • My Calendar has stopped updating from iCloud.

I am using Windows Vista Ultimate on a 64bit platform. For some reason my calendar has now stopped updating from iCloud. Everytime I open the iCloud Control Panel it tells me to repair iCloud. I have done this several times and even uninstalled and reinstalled the iCloud Control Panel but still no luck.
The iCloud Control Panel tells me the Calendar etc is available on iCloud but doesn't let me change any options. I can only change options for bookmarks and photostream.
    Please help.

I have the exact same problem.  Has anyone found a solution?

  • IPod has stopped updating

I drag songs/videos or even delete them, and it looks like I changed it. But when I unplug it from the computer nothing changed. My new videos/songs aren't there. I tried to see if the reverse was also true, and removed everything I had on my iPod. Looked empty, reloaded it, everything was back.
    Umm...what do I do now?
Edit: it is still displaying the songs I deleted, but they are not playable anymore.
    So something is updating
Edit 2: When I delete my iPod songs from iTunes, the amount of space used remains the same. It does not go down. But when I add more songs the amount does go up, but then they're not there when I unplug the iPod, but the smae taken is still taken.
Edit 3: Lol, after 3 hours of trying to get it to work it just started updating again. Oh who knows?

    chris -
My ipod is doing something similar. It has stopped syncing with itunes. I added new songs into my itunes and when I plugged in the ipod it acted like it was updating. It even said "update complete". But, when I went to play my new songs, they were not in my ipod. So, I updated my ipod software, updated my itunes, restarted my computer, and reset my ipod. I plugged it up again - and it did the same thing. It acts like it is updating, but the songs do not transfer. What should I do now?

  • Podcast has stopped updating

    Hello,
The podcast on this website http://tec-online.com/resources/sermons/ has not updated the latest episodes for a few days now. Usually it updates at least within 24 hours. No changes have been made to the feed.
    Any ideas why?
    Thank you

I assume this is the Store page for the podcast you are referring to
    https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/trinity-evangelical-church/id621713982?mt=2
    The feed is at http://tec-online.com/feed/podcast/
The episodes of 5th and 12th May are in the feed and appear when subscribing. They have not yet appeared on the Store page.
Usually the Store takes 1-2 days to show new episodes (it caches the feeds and visits them in rotation to check for updates) but sometimes it seems to get stuck and can take rather longer. There have been several complaints recently that it's in one of its slow patches; I'm afraid there is nothing you can do about it except wait - the episodes should appear eventually. In the meantime they are available to subscribers (because when subscribing iTunes reads the feeds directly and the Store is not involved).

  • "Itunes has stopped updating your podcast" message -- is there away around?

When new podcasts are downloaded into Itunes, I transfer them straight to my ipod. I don't play them in Itunes.
As a result, I have to tell Itunes that I DO want to continue downloading new files - for every podcast to which I subscribe, on a recurring basis.
Seems to me that transferring the file shows signs of interest - same as playing.
Is there a way to set Itunes to treat a transfer to the ipod the same as playing it?

You're right, there is no way to turn off this asinine, infuriating feature. It's this kind of thing that drove me away from Windows and made me so happy when I got a Mac. I felt like I didn't have to fight the Windows Big Brother anticipating my needs and only allowing me to do things in a way that Windows wanted me to.
Anyways, there is a partial solution, although its pretty sad compared to how easy it would be if Apple included a little checkbox in the options menu that said "Do you want iTunes to stop downloading your podcasts if you listen to them in any other way than on iTunes, even if you listen to them on your (Apple) iPod?". Go to http://www.dougscripts.com and check out the NeedleDrop script. It will let you automatically play 1 second or so of each podcast in your directory. You can then tell iTunes to update your podcasts and it will retrieve all of them, as it should anyways. One downside is that you'll have to run the NeedleDrop script every so often to update the playcount of your podcasts. Another downside, if you're a Windows user, is that the AppleScript will only work on Mac.
As a tangent (read "rant"), iTunes is becoming really annoying lately. For starters, the interface has been looking more and more repulsively Windows-esque for the last few versions. Just recently, when I updated to the latest version of iTunes, it took me a week or so to delete the previous version because there was an application called "iTunes Helper" that wouldn't close. It didn't appear in the list of processes on my computer. Finally I found that it was a startup item in my list of startup programs. After disabling it, I was finally able to delete the old version of iTunes. Now iTunes doesn't update my podcasts if I don't listen to them in a way that iTunes deems fit. What is going on? Ugly interface, hidden processes, uncontrollable "features". Is Apple outsourcing their development to Microsoft or something?
