Weather widget iOS 6.0.1 misleading information

From Russia with love!
When I had the iPhone 4 with iOS 5.*.* weather widget worked fine.
Now I still have My iPhone 4 and My new iPhone 5, as well. iOS 6.0.1 both of them right now!
I live in the city (Morshansk, Russia) — not in the district around the town.
I want to make it clear. 2 years I always saw correct info in the Notification Center. I mean I saw Morshansk always.
But now I constantly see some districts around — Skol'niki, Ust'e, Korshunovka and maybe others in My NC right now.
Skol'niki, Ust'e, Korshunovka is just a small districts around My city, and I've never been there!
It started when I upgraded to the latest version (6.0.1) both phones — iPhone 4 & iPhone 5.
Look carefully at the screenshot:
Green — Morshansk area.
Blue — I visit almost every day.

I've had the same problem since the update too. The temp no longer shows and it doesn't update. I was hoping they would push a new release to fix it but, it's been awhile and I've given up hope. You're not the only one with the problem tho!!

  • I just update my iphone 4s to ios 7 and the weather widget is gone

Just this morning, I updated it until after I realised that the weather widget was gone.
I searched how to get it back but there was no way. It is because the phone is an iphone 4s? Because all the videos I watched seemed to be iphone 5's

This is what i had thought at first too. APPARENTLY. Apple has done away with the widget, Now all there is is a fancy description of Todays Forcast, and if you can't see it; you have to do the following ON IOS7:
First go to SETTINGS > PRIVACY > LOCATION SERVICES , This has to be ON, now scroll down and make sure WEATHER is turned ON as well, in order for it to be used by Location Services
After this, You must go into NOTIFICATION CENTER > then have TODAY'S SUMMARY turned ON, These are the only 2 Conditions needed to see your weather from notification's center
Pros: You can see your weather from Lock Screen accessing Notifications from the top.
Cons: Your locations services on 24/7 WILL DRAIN BATTERY
My Take: If you must really see your weather on your front screen, get ready for a 5-8% FASTER LOSS in battery (IP4s); or....depending if you use IP4 (Maybe Faster), Location services is one of the biggest battery drains on iphone depending how you toggle and what you like to keep on.
Dispute to apple: I kinda wish you guys BRING BACK THE OLD WIDGET, which required no need for TURNING ON LOCATION SERVICES FOR WEATHER in order for it to work.
I hope this helps anyone who is curious.. I spent a whole 20 min figuring it out..
    Currently using: Iphone4s  IOS 7

  • In ios 5 my weather widget isn't working!

I have iPhone 4. Yesterday, I updated my phone to iOS 5, but I noticed that my weather widget is not working. It can not be upgraded. I tried every way but I could not fix it. Is there anyone who has the same problem or am I the only one? How can I fix this problem?

If you are having Issues with downloading iOS 5....

  • IOS 8 stock weather widget

Straight to the point...... How do I get rid of the stock weather app widget from notifications. Kind of pointless to have other weather widgets if i have 2 to look at. I like to keep it simple...... Less is more!

Slide the notifications window down. Today>>At the bottom of the window EDIT. Activate/deactivate what you want to show/not show.

  • The weather widget doesn't appear in the notification center for ios7

I can't find the basic weather widget which was part of the earlier iOS in the notification center. Has it been removed or do I need to change some settings?

System Preferences/Notifications - check the setup there. Also check the daily reminder in the Reminder application.
    Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.notificationcenterui.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

  • My weather widget keeps saying "weather offline" when im on wifi or have full service?

on my iphone 4 in the notification centre, my weather widget says "weather offline" sometimes, most of the time is shows the weather, but sometimes it is offline even when im on wifi or have full service. its so annoying. how can i fix this?

I'm seeing it too, and I know of no fix. So it's not just you. And, I'm in the US so it's not a problem in your country only.
I have found no pattern as to why I get "Weather Offline" but other times it's updated just fine.
Sometimes the Weather app refuses to update the local weather, other times it gets updated. I assume the issues are related. All the other weather locations I create in the app are updated, so I know it's not the weather server that's the problem. It's just the local weather in the app and notification center (or centre!)
Guess it's another iOS 5 bug. Let's hope it gets fixed in the next release.

  • Weather widget not working after upgrade to Snow Leopard (Australian areas)

The weather widget is not working since I upgraded to Snow Leopard.
The feed seems to have changed from Accuraweather or something like that to Yahoo!Weather, and Yahoo!Weather seems to have problems (at least concerning weather data feeds from places in Australia).
I live in Kempsey, New South Wales (Australia). I can't input that address, because it won't validate. When I try typing my address in the widget autocompletes with "Kempsey, Austral Eden, New South Wales (Australia)" (FYI, Austral Eden is a rural parish near Kempsey, but Austral Eden is not in Kempsey and Kempsey is not in Austral Eden). That address will validate, but there seems to be no weather feed: ie. I don't get any information displayed in the widget.
The nearest address that will validate correctly is "Port Macquarie, New South Wales (Australia)". The Yahoo!Weather feed doesn't provide any information about that, either.
I can get a weather data feed for Canberra. But Canberra is 800 kilometres from here.
I think I want to change back to AccuraWeather. How would I do that?

I'm annoyed by this as well.
I was planning on buying my father the Snow Leopard upgrade for Christmas, but there is no way he'll want it without a working Port Macquarie weather widget. ( I'm not kidding! )
I've looked at the AccuWeather widget as well, but it is really ugly!

  • Is there a Europe weather widget?

    Hi all,
I'm in Europe for two years for school, and miss knowing if it will rain. Is there a Europe version of the Apple Weather widget? Thanks,
    Brad

    See if this helps.

  • More accurate weather widget?

Can anyone recommend a more accurate weather widget than the default Apple one? I don't need a ton of information, just something which at least maybe divides the day into a.m. and p.m. (so that if you see a rain cloud you don't think it's going to rain all day for example), plus better accuracy, if that's possible to get (seems like it should be).

    This one?

If you do a Google search on "weather widget mac", you'll see other choices.

  • Apple weather widget

Does anyone by chance know if in the new iOS 6 which I have installed on my iPhone they will update the weather widget to show a real time temperature dispaly instead of the constant 73' icon. Or at least can they give the option of having the temperature displayed by the battery icon or wi-fi 3G/4G icon. It would be nice if the weather widget was a little more up to date considering todays technologies... Just a thought.

We are all users here, just like you. But you can tell Apple about your wishes here:
    Apple - iPhone - Feedback
And there are many 3rd party weather apps in the Store as well.

  • -2 emails in inbox and weather widget gone on home screen

Inbox says I have -2 messages in my inbox and the AccuWeather widget is gone from my home screen.  Android 4.1.1  Any ideas or comments on what happened?  I did a system restart and no effect.

        @Greg-O
Thank you for bringing your concerns to the attention of the forum. I can understand how these two instances can be very unexpected. I would love to help come to a resolution.
To ensure that the AccuWeather widget is in place. Follow the instructions below.
    1) From the Home Screen, select Apps
2)From the Widgets tab, select and hold the weather widget
3)Drag the widget to your desired place on the home screen.
In terms of the e-mail providing inconsistent inbox information. I would suggest re-adding the e-mail account to the phone.

  • 10.6.8 weather widget not working

The weather widget on my dash no longer recognizes Surrey, BC Canada and instead defaults to Vancouver even when I enter my postal/zip code, BC. Surrey use to work before the update.. I've tried other smaller cities around my area and they too all seem to work.

    Hi orangextc,
i think it's a generally problem on macs to synchronize the canada weather to your mac. Try this download link:

And write back if it works.

Not sure where you got the IP address from, but as listed in the wikipedia article, it is only used for local comms. Most of use have a 192.168.x.y IP address on our STBs. This is just used to communicate to the rotuer that then will nat the address out.
I know this doesn't answer your real question though. My guess is either accuweather or weatherchannel. Try going to either one of these sites and enter your zipcode (same as you did in the widget). See which forecast more closely matches.

  • Strange Weather Widget Issue

I have three weather widgets added to my iPhone: 44319 (Akron, OH), 44115 (Cleveland, OH), and 44094 (Willoughby, OH). The Akron and Cleveland ones work just fine, but the Willoughby one always says 90 degrees and day time no matter what. I know the information is getting updated because I have the same location setup on my iMac and it works fine. Any ideas why it's not updating on my iPhone? I've tried removing it and re-adding it multiple times.

Hrrmmmm. Upon further inspection the problem appears to apply for all towns immediately surrounding Ft Collins (Loveland, Windsor, Wellington).
If it is because a person manually supplies the data, they must be on vacation. It's been 81 since Sunday.
If it is AccuWeather providing incorrect data it is just to the iPhone. The information for Ft Collins updates correctly on my dashboard in 10.4.10.
The surrounding areas not showing correct information seems to support the theory that it is something to do with the information supplied being incorrect. If so, who should we contact to have the issue resolved?
Edited to add: I've also tried deleting the city, resetting the device and going back to the application to add it back. When I return to the weather widget the listing is already there, even though I had deleted prior to resetting. Has anyone who has this problem tried restoring all the settings or restoring the entire device yet?

  • No Forecast on Weather Widget

Does anybody know why my weather widget doesn't show my forecast? Is it because I'm in Canada? Anyone know?
    Jim

I'm in Canada too. Montreal to be exact. It's grey and overcast today, and the temperature is 15C.
The weather widget shows a bright sunny day and 26C.
Any idea why the weather information shown on the dashboard would be incorrect?
