Web ADI and Autopost

Currently, we are setup in GL to autopost all GL journals. I am trying to troubleshoot a Web ADI issue and for a particular user, I'd like to have the uploaded spreadsheet data stay in the interface table rather than post to GL. I believe there is some problem with this template. I'm told setting the profile option BNE Allow Set Parameters would all the person uploading to choose whether to post or not, but from my understanding, if you change that option, don't you have to download a new template for that to take effect? If so, that would defeat my purpose of checking out what is wrong with the existing spreadsheet. If this is the case, is my only other option to disable autopost?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking originally until someoneone told me about the profile option. I was hoping I could do it by profile option and really just trying to understand how this works with Web ADI as I am a Web ADI newbie. From what I saw elsewhere it didn't sound like the profile option would work for my purposes and was trying to confirm that here. If it requires downloading the template again after changing it, then it won't work for me.

Web ADI and Windows error 1706

Hi everyone,
In a test instance I've configured Web ADI. When an accountant tries to create a spreadsheet he gets a popup box saying, "Please wait while Windows configures Oracle Client." Followed by the error, "Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Oracle Client. Windows Installer cannot continue." He can click OK and get past the message but it happens every time.
I've searched MOS but came up empty. Does anyone have any ideas?

I can't get anyone else willing to test until I get this problem resolved on this one work station.Please try from some other machine as suggested before in my previous reply and see if you can reproduce the issue.
Also, check the BNE.log file for any errors and post it here.

Web ADI and Excel XP

Hi,
I am trying to create a custom integrator using HR Integrator setup. The downloaded excel sheet shows up a modal window " Processing: Create Document" and it remains in that state forever. I also dont see Oracle menu option in the menu bar. My desktop configuration is: Windows XP home & Excel XP and I have set required options in IE and Excel. I tried on another desktop with Excel 2003 and it works fine there. So did any one face any issues working with Excel XP?Any help is much appreciated.

I am using Web ADI with Excel XP and it is working fine. Please ensure that the Security Level is set to Medium and Trusted publisher is also set to "Trust access to Visual Basic Project".
Also, for the browser set browser security correctly i.e
in Local Intranet -> Custom Level -> "Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked safe" to Prompt

R12 Web ADI and Internet Explorer 7

Hi,
We have recently upgraded from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.1
We are using Web ADI now, instead of Client ADI.
We had to stay on Internet Explorer 6 while on 11.5.10.2 due to needing Jinitiator.
Now we're on R12, and using Java, we would like to move up to Internet Explorer 7.
However, I can't find any official documentation / certification to say that Web ADI will work with IE7.
Testing seems to show that it works with IE7, but I'd like to find something official from Oracle to show to my desktop colleagues.
Does anyone know of anything like that? I've looked on My Oracle Support but cant' find anything.
Any advice much appreciated.

Web ADI Error: Permissions and Connection Issues (Please Help)

I'm new to WEB ADI and I'm trying to set up on an 11.5.10 Oracle Application. I'm reading the white paper "Understand and using Web ADI in Oracle HRMS" From metalink
I created the functions Create Document, Web ADI Layout Definition, Web ADI Text Mapping and HRMS Create Document. I also create the sub menus HR ADI Seeded Integrator Form Functions and HR ADI Skills Seeded Integrator Form Functions in the menu US_SHRMS_NAV, and made sure the ‘BNE Allow No Security Rule’ is set to Yes
I was able to get the seeded download procedure to work, however the seeded upload procedure didn't work for me. I received an error " The connection to the server is unavailable". I also notice that I don't have access to HR Update Salary Proposals Integrator or the HR Integrator Setup integrator, when I select them from WEB ADI I get the following error "You do not have permission to access this functionality."
Can someone please assist me in get passed these issue?

Getting SQL Exception occurred during PL/SQL Upload instead of custom message in Web ADI excel.

I am using procedure driven WEB ADI and want to do basic validation for the same.
The code for validation is:
BEGIN
         SELECT 'X'
           INTO V_X
           FROM DUAL
          WHERE P_FROM_DATE IS NOT NULL
            AND P_TO_DATE IS NOT NULL;
      EXCEPTION
         WHEN OTHERS
         THEN
            HR_UTILITY.SET_MESSAGE (800, 'PLEASE FILL THE DATES');
            HR_UTILITY.RAISE_ERROR;

The error is fired as required, but the message is not the one which I want to show. In the message it says:
SQL Exception occurred during PL/SQL Upload instead of 'PLEASE FILL THE DATES'.

I have a few questions about web adi , and I would much appreciate your help.
1. Is there an Oracle Web Adi Developer's Guide, or any other official documentation besides the "Oracle Web Applications Desktop Integrator Implementation and Administration Guide" .
2. Can I create LOV's for the parameters i defined for a custom integrator with HQ Create Standalone Query ? If yes, how ?
3. Can I break the generated spredsheet into several worksheets, based on the distinct values in a column ?

Unfortunately it doesn't help .
In the topic you posted, the last answer is that there is no developer guide. I thougt that since then, something came up.
I read that for cusomizing the interface for custom integrators , I should use Java , but I haven't been able to find some documentation as to exactly how i i do that.

WEB ADI Access

I create one custom integrator in the web Adi, and its working fine from desktop integrator responsibility,
but I want to give the access on this one Integrator to particular user, but when I attach the desktop Integrator Resp to user some other integrator also available to that user,
Please guide me how to give the access of only one Integrator to user, means in the list of LOV only one integrator need to be visible.

Hi Sathish,
when I attached the custom function into the custom menu and responsibility its not visible into the responsibility,
so I attached "Desktop Integration - Create Document " then only my web adi comes into the list of values into the desktop integration form,
but the issue is some more web adi also comes into the list.. I want to restrict other web adi from that list. so that HR people only access HR related web ADI. now some finance related web adi also comes into the list of values.

Web ADI Run a database sequence per row

Hi,
I'm new to Web ADI and I'm trying to call a database sequence for column A to generate value per row for the upload in a custom web ADI, but every time the sequence runs once for the whole batch generating duplicate values.
This is what I've tried so far:
1. Called the sequence in the interface section as default SQL Query for a column A. Made the column to appear at Line in the layout.
2. Added an import rule sequence
3. Wrote a database trigger for the temp table and called the sequence before insert: in this case the sequence runs fine and generates values per row but $PARAM$.ColumnA is null.
I need this for row identification, otherwise if there is duplicate rows the error message overlaps.
Please help.

The following error is received when trying to install MS Projects Integration:

Exception Name: oracle.apps.bne.exception.BneFatalException
Cause: Microsoft VBScript runtime error: 429 - ActiveX component can't create object.
Action: Assure is installed, and check your browser's security by navigating to the Internat Explorer Tools Menu > Internat Options...
They follow the steps given and yet the error remains. The customer is using Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7.0. According to the certify tab, this is NOT a certified combination for Web ADI. When the customer tries this exact same thing using IE 6.0, no error is received. Does not running a cerified combination become a showstopper from development's perspective or should I continue my research?

How to create a Web ADI template and save it in our apps?

Hi all,
I want to create a user enrollment template it Web ADI so that I can send the form to the client and they will just fillup the spreadsheet with all the users they want to add to the system then load it using Web Adi.
For example this form is:
I want to create a Web ADI template for the forms above, which is saved in the apps database. Just like the template sample below:
1. Add Oracle WEB ADI you your responsibility. Explore how to create document etc
2. Using Oracle General Ledger, go to Enter Journal and click on Launch Journal Wizard..from there you can create document similar to attached

web ADI is already installed. Please check for example if the responsibilities are present. This is not said you will have to patch up when you try it out.

How do we define a Web ADI integrator and Associate it with a window?

Hi,
I'm on Oracle HRMS 12.1.3. I would want to export data into Excel from a form window (Navigation Path is: Leave Management > List Employees By Absence Type > Query).
When I try to export data, it says: APP-PER-289792: Before you can run a mail merge or data extraction from this window, your system administrator must define a Web ADI Integrator and associate with the window ...
I've tried looking around for articles on how to create Web ADI integrator s, but couldn't find one that explains how to associate the integrator with a given window. Any advise will be highly appreciated.

Uploading Projects and Grants through Web ADI

Is it possible to upload both Projects and Grants through a Web ADI?
Do we have to create two separate templates to accomplish this or can it be done through a single template?

I've not run a web gallery where others could contribute to so don't know if the downloads will be the same size as were uploaded. I know that iPhoto will optimize somewhat, i.e. reducing the file size but not the image size. All I can suggest is you create a text gallery, set it for maximum size download, allow others to contribute and have someone upload a file so you can download and test.
Otherwise you could open your Public folder on the iDisk to them and let other upload folders of image files to it. That would be exactly what goes up comes down.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
