Hi,
I am running an oracle8.1.7 on NT4.0, and trying to install the web agent on the apache(1.3.12 with JServer). coming with the oracle817.
I downloaded the web agent zip file, and installed the web agent for apache web server. Then I modified the httpd.conf following the instruction in wscape.html.
After i restarted the web server, i cannot display http://webserver/intermedia/~about.

  • Problem Web Agent IIS5.0 in win2k

    Hi All,
I have installed Web Agent for IIS5.0 in a win2k system.
I have edited the amagent.properties file so that it enforces polices from the Identity server.
When i try to access a web resource protected by the web agent , it dosen't seem to work on the basis of policies mentioned in the identity server.
Also the log gives out an error like this.....

Help me out in solving this problem.
Also kindly explain how SSO functions here in accessing the application.

    Hi Sriram
I haven't such any documentation for sun one web server 6.1. Actually i followed the SM Web agent installation doc for iPlanet web server.
Morover i tried to configure Sun one web server 6.1 with SM web agent also but got the same error as with web server 7.0.
I have seen in this forum only that we can configure SM web agent with Sun one web server 6.1 But any special step needed or version incompatibility that i want to check.
For your referrence u can check this forum which states that SM web agent can configure with web server 6.1

  • How to install interMedia web agent

    Hi folks,
I downloaded im8154_lnx.zip (interMedia Web Agent 8.1.5.4) for linux
from Oracle. The webserver I am using is Oracle HTTP server.
Before I install the web agent, the HTTP server works fine.
I read the document for installing interMedia web Agent, however,
it is not the case when I tried to install the agent. For example,
the doc asks me to include mod_oraordwscias.conf in the oracle_apache.conf file,
but the mod_oraordwscias.conf file doesn't exist. I only have three
    files in the /ord/web/apache/:
    mod_oraordwsc.c mod_oraordwsc.h mod_oraordwsc.module
    I also don't understand what's the file mod_oraordwsc.module for.
Does anyone know how to make the interMedia Web Agent module works with
Oracle HTTP server? Thank you so much.
    Best regards,
    Kai Huang

    Hi Kai,
The interMedia Web Agent is not available for the Oracle HTTP
server on Linux, nor are there plans to port it or support it on
any platforms or web server configurations other than those shown
below. For information on alternatives to the Web Agent,
please see the interMedia software page on OTN:
    http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/intermedia/software_index.htm
The closest equivalent of the Web Agent is the interMedia Code
    Wizard for the PL/SQL Gateway.
    Regards,
    Rajiv

  • The Web Agent for IIS will not work

    Environment: NT4 Server, IIS4
I try to install the Web Agent in use with IIS but IIS fails to load the dll. After the installation I can read the event-log :
The HTTP server was unable to load the ISAPI Application 'C:\Oracle\Ora81\ord\web\bin\wsciis81.dll'. The data is the error.
    And the Browser gives me:
A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.
    What can be wrong?

Note: On Windows NT, use \ instead of / to separate file system directory
    paths.
    1. Check the Web Agent's log file.
Look in <oracle_home>/ord/web/logs for a log file in the form
wsc_<yyyymmdd>_<pid>.log. If the file exists, review it for errors,
then take the necessary action to remedy the problem. Possible
problems that might be logged are non-recoverable errors in the Web
Agent's configuration file <oracle_home>/ord/web/admin/wsc.cfg. If the
configuration file or the <oracle_home>/ord/web directory hierarchy
doesn't exist, then re-do the installation.
    2. Check the Web Agent's "last-chance" error log file.
If the <oracle_home>/ord/web/logs directory exists, but there are no
log files, check in the %SystemRoot% directory on Windows NT or the
/tmp directory on Unix for a file named wsclstch.err. This is the Web
Agent's "last-chance" error log file. The Web Agent will try to write
to this file if it encounters a fundamental startup error, such as a
problem initializing CORE or NLS, creating a log file, or opening its
message file. If the file exists, review it for errors, then take the
necessary action to remedy the problem. (In a command window on
Windows NT, type set SystemRoot to find where the wsclstch.err file
    would be written.)
    3. Check the web server configuration.
If the Web Agent failed to create either its normal log file or its
"last-chance" error log file, verify that the Web Agent has been
configured correctly for the particular web server being used and that
    the web server is running.
    o Microsoft IIS
Use the Internet Service Manager to verify that IIS has been
configured correctly for the Web Agent. Review the installation
and configuration instructions in the wsciis.html or wsciis.txt
files to verify that the Web Agent has been configured correctly
and to make any changes or fixes necessary. Check that the filter
is up and running and that the virtual path has been configured.
To check the filter, select the web site, then click the
properties button (or right-click the web site icon). Select the
Filters tab. The Web Agent should appear in the list with a green
up-arrow. If it appears with a red down-arrow, check the Windows
NT event log for any errors relating to the Web Agent. IIS
doesn't always write detailed error messages. For example, if a
DLL used by the Web Agent can't be located, then IIS typically
logs the fact that a load error occurred along with the message
"the data was the error". Note that the installation and
configuration instructions describe the case where the filter
must be installed manually if there were no existing filters
registered at the time the Web Agent for IIS was installed.
If the filter looks OK, check the oracle_intermedia_bin virtual
path by clicking the properties button (or right-click the
virtual path icon). The path should reference the
<oracle-home>\ord\web\bin directory, which should contain the
wsciis81.dll file. In the properties window, select the directory
security tab, then click the anonymous access and authentication
control button. Verify that Basic authentication has been checked
and that Windows NT challenge/response has been cleared.
To function correctly, the Oracle8i home must be specified
correctly for IIS. Use the Oracle Home Selector to verify that
the Oracle8i home is specified as the default home. Use the
System Control Panel to verify that the Oracle8i home /bin
directory is specified prior to any other Oracle homes in the
    PATH environment variable.

    Hi,
The problem here is that the web agent has to be installed into the same Oracle home as Oracle HTTP Server/Oracle Portal. Unfortunately, this was omitted from the web agent's installation README. (This has just been fixed and the new version has just been replaced on OTN.) To get the web agent up and running, de-install it from the Oracle8i home and re-install it into the Oracle HTTP Server/Oracle Portal home.
Sorry about the README, hopefully this will get you going.

  • FAM 8.0, Tomcat J2EE agent installation problem

    Hello:
I was able to install FAM 8.0 in Tomcat 6.0.14 on Ubuntu (7.04) Linux. Everything seems fine. In the end, the applications I want to use with OpenSSO also make use of Tomcat 6.0.14. I noticed on the opensso users email list that the Tomcat 3.0 agent won't be available until early next year; but that the 2.2 agents should work with FAM 8.0. So, I got the the J2EE agent for Tomcat - SJS_Tomcat_Server_55_agent_2.2-01.tar.gz. The documentation makes no references to Tomcat 6, and I'm hoping this is due to the fact that Tomcat 6 was not available when the documentation was written.
Does this agent work with Tomcat 6? I have this problem when installing the agent (agentadmin --install):
$CATALINA_HOME environment variable is the root of the tomcat
    installation.
    [ ? : Help, < : Back, ! : Exit ]
Enter the $CATALINA_HOME environment variable: /Users/jas/Development/opensso/tryout/apache-tomcat-6.0.14
Invalid directory specified for the $CATALINA_HOME environment variable
    Invalid CATALINA_HOME directory :
/Users/jas/Development/opensso/tryout/apache-tomcat-6.0.14I can see in debug/agentadmin.log the following:
    [05/24/2008 13:06:37:684 PDT] FileSystemValidator : Is directory : /Users/jas/Development/opensso/tryout/apache-tomcat-6.0.14 valid ? true
    [05/24/2008 13:06:37:686 PDT] HomeDirValidator : Is $CATALINA_HOME directory /Users/jas/Development/opensso/tryout/apache-tomcat-6.0.14 valid ? false
[05/24/2008 13:06:37:686 PDT] Invalid CATALINA_HOME directory : /Users/jas/Development/opensso/tryout/apache-tomcat-6.0.14This directory does indeed exist, and is accessible by the user I'm logged in as. It appears FileSystemValidator agrees with me, but HomeDirValidator has a problem. I tried this on both Ubuntu 6.04 and Mac OS X 10.5.2. Does this indicate that Tomcat 6 is not supported? Or is it indicative that neither OS on which I've tried to install the agent is officially supported?
    Thanks!
    Jeff

    Hi Denis:
Before being redirected to another short term task, I did indeed get the Tomcat 6 agent to work. I probably won't be able to look at OpenSSO again seriously for another couple of months. :(
I have the OpenSSO server running on Tomcat 6.0.14 on Ubuntu 6.x Linux running in a virtual machine on my Mac. I was not able to get the server to run directly on the Mac, and I cannot remember the reason at this time.
But, as far as the agent goes, I run it again using Tomcat 6.0.14 on my Mac (Mac OS X 10.5.2), using the 1.5 JRE. I do have the agentapp war deployed as well as the agentsample web application to play with. In my catalina.out file:

I checked out the source code for the Tomcat v6 agent (2.2) on May 27, so I don't know how that compares to yours or what's been checked into CVS since my build. I also don't know what the OpenSSO NamingService is.
I assume you used fully qualified domain names to specify the web application to be protected by agent as well as the OpenSSO server itself. The following is the output of the conversation when I run the agent installer script on my system. It has been redacted a bit (domain name and encryption key) to protect my client, but otherwise this is what I supplied to the installer:

  • Integrating WebLogic Server with CA SiteMinder Web Agent R6

Hi I have searched on the topic of integrating WebLogic Server with the CA SiteMinder Web Agent R6 to provide single sign on services, and have been unable to find anything. Does anyone have any experience with this that could provide some tips, or could direct me to some documentation?

It definitely can work. We have done the same thing in several installations. The question is "How secure does it need to be?" You will be using SM to do authentication. You will configure SSO to trust the SM header variable. If you really want to be secure you need to configure your boxes so that the http server on you SUSE box (for Portal) can only be accessed from the Reverse Proxy. If another machine can access it someone could spoof the header variable and log in as anyone they want.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • InterMedia Web Agent

I have found documentation on InterMedia Web Agent for 8.1.5 and 8.1.7, but not for 8.1.6.
We are running RDBMS 8.1.6, OAS 4.0.8.2 on Solaris 2.6. I have configured one of our databases with the InterMedia Text option, and plan to configure our OAS for it. Where can I get related InterMedia Web Agent documentation and download for this environment? Metalink couldn't give me an answer.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Your posting references both interMedia Web Agent and interMedia Text option:
    <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">quote:</font><HR>
I have configured one of our
databases with the InterMedia Text option,
and plan to configure our OAS for it. Where
can I get related InterMedia Web Agent
    documentation and download for this
    environment?
    <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
There is no relationship between interMedia Web Agent and interMedia Text option. interMedia Web Agent is designed to facilitate the web-based upload and retrieval of multimedia image, audio, and video data stored using the corresponding interMedia multimedia object types in an Oracle8i database. interMedia Text option is a powerful text-based indexing and search tool with support for a range of [text-based] content formats.
You do NOT need interMedia Web Agent to use interMedia Text option. However, if you need interMedia Web Agent to upload and retrieve multimedia data using HTML forms and pages, you can download release 8.1.5.4.1, which includes support for OAS 4.0.8.2, from the interMedia software download page on OTN.
    Hope this clarifies the situation.
In order to better understand the variety of ways in which our customers are using interMedia, we'd be very interested in knowing a little more about your application, the interMedia functionality that you are using, and how you are developing and deploying your application. If you are able to help us, please send a short email message with some information about your application, together with any comments you may have, to the Oracle interMedia Product Manager, Joe Mauro, at [email protected] Thank you!

  • InterMedia Web Agent & BC4J

I've seen the code for Oracle8i interMedia Web Agent to store BLOBs in the DB but i see that it does not fits the OBC4J Framework.
How do we create a domain in my EO/VO for a BLOB column to be able to stream the bytes?
(I know already how to put/get the BLOB using JDBC.)
    Thanks.
    null

We (the interMedia group) will be shipping new JDBC compliant JAVA classes for interMedia on OTN in the near future. With these classes (and JDeveloper 3.1 with its improved object support) you can create bc4j domains for the types you need by extending the interMedia java classes and adding extra methods and overriding existing ones.

  • Filr Web Agent crashing

Our Filr system stops syncing files about every 6-8 hours. It's a large deployment with 1 of each appliance at version 1.01. Restarting the Web Agent gets synchronization going again until it stops. Here are some log snips from ssf.log and catalina.out of our Web Agent:

Looks like it might be famtd that's crashing. If so, you'll want not
just HP1 which is publicly available but also FTF2 which installs on
top of HP1. You'll need to open an SR to get FTF2. There are a number
of fixes for famtd crashing in HP1 + FTF2.

  • Web agent 8.1.5.1

I have a question concerning the installation of the intermedia web agent.
I have chewed through most of the documentation but have the follwong question.
Is the web agent compatable with the webdb listener supplied with webdb 2.2 or do I have to be running Apache ?
    Thanks Dave.

The web agent was designed to be able to be 'plug-able' into any web server that supports server plugins. The WebDB light-weight listener supports file-system access and the PL/SQL gateway, which calls PL/SQL procedures that use the HTP_*, OWA_*, etc, packages to build HTML responses. However, it doesn't have a general purpose server plugin API. The web agent supports the following web servers on NT:
    - Oracle HTTP Server, powered by Apache
    - Apache
    - Netscape
    - IIS

  • Windows Server 2008 (TS) and Lync Web App installation failure

    Hey folks,
I've run into a little big problem due the Lync Web App installation via mstsc on a stand alone Terminal Server 2008 SP2 64 Bit. When I tried to install the Lync Web App Plugin via
mstsc and standard user I get the message:
    "The system administrator has
set up a policy that the installation
    prevents"
    Till that it's just fine.
The next thing I did is to disable the UAC and DEP, but same problem as above. I also tried to extract the install EXE for the MSI packages to allow the installation. But did not work.
After I searched the internet for an answer relating to this problem I've had to create or change a RegEdit entry. So I switched to the registry to:
    HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
and created a DWORD entry DisableMSI and set it to 0. Then I tried the installation of Lync Web App Plugin via
mstsc and standard user again and this message appeared:
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2755"
Now the curious thing is, that when I am logged on locally, the standard user is able to install the Lync Web App Plugin. And it works fine. After the installation is complete I can switch to mstsc again and it works.
The only thing what doesn't work is to install Lync Web App Plugin via mstsc into the user profile.
    Any suggestions?

Before you install the application, change your user mode to installation mode.
You can run the following command with Prompt Command:
    Change user /install
After the application is installed, change back to execution mode, you can do so by running the following command:
    Change User /Execute

  • Installation of oracle8i (8.1.7) on linux 6.2

    hello,
This is regarding installation of oracle8i(8.1.7) on redhat linux6.2.
We are facing problems at the begining step of creation of "oracle" user accout & "dba" group.
Even though we are successfull in creating user & group we are not able to proceed further with installations.
is the problem is wrt O.S kernel parameters.
if yes please send me the solution.
the kernel ver which we are using is 2.2.14.
    does that makes any difference.
Or should "oracle" user or the "dba" group
    comes under special category.
bcos we are not able to find any oracle related environment variables nor we are successfull in accesing kernel parameters.
please let me know how to proceed further
    as soon as possible.
    thanks a lot,
    Bheemesh.

    hello folks,
i am having a problem in installing oracle 8.1.7 on linux 7.2 redhat.[...snip...]
    now installation starts,during Linking Oracle8i Enterprise Edition segment,,at 62 or 64%,,it start
    generating errors like:
Error in invoking target relink of makefile
    /dba01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7/precomp/lib/ins_precomp.mk
no effect on retry, just ignore ignore and ignore all the rest part,,
i have read a nearly similar type of problem yesterday in this forum where author suggested
to change LD_SELF_CONTAINED in ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh and then run "genclntsh",,but he did'nt
mentioned what change should we do??http://www.puschitz.com/OracleOnLinux.shtml
    From the above guide:
Edit the file $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh and change the following line (people have sent me emails pointing out that this also works for Mandrake 8.1 and Mandrake 8.2):
    LD_SELF_CONTAINED="-z defs"
    to read:
    LD_SELF_CONTAINED=""
Then run the script $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh as the user "oracle" and not as the user "root". Also make sure you have all the Oracle environments set! (I got so many emails because people were not doing this)
    $ su - oracle
    $ $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh
    Created /opt/oracle/product/9.0.1/lib/libclntst9.a

    Hi gimbal2 ,
    thanks for your prompt response.
I deleted jsf-facelets.jar from the lib.
    Also I removed      <context-param>
              <param-name>org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.ALTERNATE_VIEW_HANDLER</param-name>
              <param-value>org.apache.myfaces.trinidadinternal.facelets.TrinidadFaceletViewHandler</param-value>
         </context-param>
         <context-param>
              <param-name>org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.FACELETS_VIEW_MAPPINGS</param-name>
              <param-value>*.xhtml</param-value>
</context-param>Now that error has gone .But I am still not able to switch between the tabs for .xhtml page but it is working fine for .jsp page.
For .xhtml page , on clicking on the tab, console is showing something like below
    Aug 17, 2010 9:20:49 PM org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.component.UIXShowDetail broadcast
