Web Analysis Access- Cant create Data Connection.........

hi there.....I just installed hyperion reporting and analyis on my laptop.
When I opend the Webanalysis all the options i.e
File>new,open,save etc.. are greyed out for me..........
Is there any clue that I can create Data connection and so on.......According to my knowledge I configured everything properly.........

Hyperion Web Analysis Studio - Excel Export Data PATH TO EXCEL

I have a problem with Hyperion Web Analysis Studio by Export Data (Path to Excel) function on every client (windows Vista - IE 7 - Office 2007)
The problem is when I try to use the Export data to Excel, the Path to the excel program is missing and I have to go manually over the directory and choose the excel.exe to export the report, when I restart the IE I have to do it again...
Hyperion support suggested I try adding the Excel path to my webanalysis.properties file
So I now have:

Hello,
Even we have the same issue.And changed the path in webanalysis.properties file.And it worked in entire report but in drillthru reports, export to excel 2010 didn't work and prompting to select the path to excel.Does anyone has solution for this??

Connecting to Sharepoint Online Access Web Tables - error - The business data connectivity metadata sore is currently unavailable

I have a SharePoint Online E3 site kbhp2-public.SharePoint dot com on which I have created an Access Web App. Now, I need to use an External Content Type to access the underlying database tables, which I understand to be stored somewhere
in Azure. The ID of the server is bxh1ixb9lo.database.windows.net and the ID of the database is db_9857fa7d_4bf1_4558_be8c_24543b041e2.
I have done the following so far:
Set Metadata Store Permissions
Created Secure Store credentials Mapping
But when I opened the SharePoint site in SharePoint Designer and clicked on External Content Types, I get the Message:
The business data connectivity metadata store is currently unavailable.
Any guidance you can give me will be greatly appreciated

Hyperion Planning - Link a web analysis report in a data form

Hi all,
is actually possible to link a web analysis report in a planning data form? I tried from a custom menu but discovered that isn't possible. Any other way?

Indeed, it is possible to link a web analysis report in a planning custom menu.
Follow this procedure :
- From the explorer :
-> Go to the folder where your web analysis report is stored
-> Right click on the document and left click on "properties"
-> Copy the "smartCut" link
- From your planning application :
-> Edit the menu where you want to link your webanalysis report :
-> Create a URL item and past the link in the input field

Hi Rohit
are you working with interactive forms inside Web Dynpro? If so, Web Dynpro will create the data connection for you. The only thning you have to do is setting the "data sorurce" and "pdf source" in the properties tab of the interactive forms layout element. If you don't work with Web Dynpro, you can create a data connection as follows:
1. Open your *xdp-Template (Doubleclick: Lifecycle Designer is starting
2.Click on File-> New Data Connection.
3, Create the data Connection with the wizard, Your source can be
a) XML Schema
b) OLEDB Database
c) WSDL file

Regarding web analysis not responding for data export for a report

Hi all,
Iam new to web analysis we had a issue on one of the report
I can open the report and i can work perfectly on the report but when i export the data to excel its showing up as fallowing error
FATAL ERROR: gui report is inccorect
In the same application i have some other reports those are working fine and data is being exported to excel for those reports
What might be going with that report Please let me know if you have any ideas.

As report was exceding 65000 records we have modified the report by adding the pages and reduced the count of output records. So the issue was resolved.

Problem while creating Data connection In ABAP......

I am tryning to create a adobe form in which i need to create a data connection using a WSDL file. But i am coing across the problem as cannot find the path of th url.
i tried to create the WSDL in 2 ways and i came across the same error.:
1) using the URL of the WSDL file generated
2)alos saved the file as WSDL file on desktop, and used to create
in both cases i am coming across the same error.
Note: i am not creating using webdynpro, i am doing using ABAP.

Also check the error message(long text) and paste it here...
check if you are either creating a "second" Delta DTP ( if an existing Delta DTP exists, then system will not allow you create a second DTP) and will throw an "overlapping" error

Hyperion Web Analysis- Issue in fetching data 50000 rows

Whenever trying to fetch more than 50000 rows in a Hyperion Web Analysis report, the output is truncated to 50000 rows only. A message is displayed for the same.
As a solution we have tried the following
1) Increase the MaxDataCellLimit and MaxJDBCCellCount to 999999 and restarted the services
2) Ftchmembersize has also been increased and services restarted.
However inspite of trying out these options with few a more rows than 50,000 the report is not opening.
Please suggest a workable solution with Hyperion Web Anaysis to handle records between 50000-300000 range.( Source may be Essbase or relational).
Which tool in Hyperion suite 11.1.2.1 would be the best candidate to handle transactional rows of huge volume ?

Why don't you try Smart View or the excel addin, Web Analysis was not really designed to dump large amount of rows into it.
If it is just an extract you are looking for then there lots of export options.

Cant create JDBC Connections in RMI Server

I am having a pretty weird problem which I am struggling with for the last three days. In the main method of the Server object, following three things are supposed to happen:
1) Creation of a JDBC Connection
2) Creation of a Remote Object and then publishing the same to Registry.
3) Creation of another JDBC Connection (exactly same as in step1)
step 1 and 2 successfully executes and the third one always errors out. I just simply get a NullPointerException.
If I comment out step 2, step 3 executes successfully. Can someone please tell me the mystery? I need your response really urgently so please help me.

You can also quote the other part of my reply when it comes to snippets. There are so many pieces of code missing from your snippet that I simply cannot guess what is wrong. (Please do not put your entire class structures here.)
We get connections in many different classes at many different times. It is after all an application that does user work and the user work involves database accesses. Some of those accesses are before RMI (to establish repositories, etc). Most are after.
This URL (jdbc:oracle:thin:@wonder.cisco.com:1521:ODSDEV) appears to use a network connection (yes?). Is the 1521 a port? Are you trying to reuse this port? (the first conn uses the same URL). What port does RMI use?
There is nothing in your snippet that stands out obviously as "this is wrong".
RMI uses networking. JDBC uses networking.
Try substituting some other networking code in place of the RMI code and see if you still get a null trying the second connection. As you say, if you leave out the RMI code the second get.conn works.
Try leaving out the first get.conn. Do the RMI and second get.conn.
Try this and try that and try some more. I once had this problem with a network printer that would not print. The code was fine. The URL was fine. The response from the network and printer were both fine. The damn thing just wasn't printing. Turns out there was this bit, yes a single bit, in one word of a property called the "start print bit". If this bit wasn't on, nothing happened. I tried every combination until I finally found it.

You can edit the Database connection from Web Analysis. Perform the below tasks to edit the database connection..
1) Login to Web Analysis
2) Select the Database Connection which needs to be modified.
3) Right Click then Edit..

I cant create new web-site

hello,
i downloaded some iWeb templates and installed them. they work so far.
but since i added those templates i cant do several things:
-i cant create a blank web-site
-i cant create any web-site with my other user accounts
i got 3 users on my mbp. only 1 user allows me to create new web-sites. if i log in with another user (i also tried to create a new user) then i only get a grey + in the lower left corner of my iWeb. grey means i cant click it.
i deleted iweb preferences already. what else can i do to solve that?
is it a good idea to delete iweb from aplication folder and install it again? is there a full installer?

Can you do this in some user accounts and not others, as the case for the original poster, or is this a problem across the board?
If all the controls are greyed out, the easiest potential fix is to open iPhoto, select some pictures/and or an album there and click on the iWeb button at the bottom of the iPhoto window. This should "force" iWeb to create a photo page.
It that doesn't work, you will need to try to download one of the iWeb upgrades. Which version of iWeb are you using?

I tried according to the instructions of oracle ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/pr_studio/frameset.htm?data_connection.html ). See comments:
To create an Essbase data source connection:
1. OK
Select Connection on the main SQR Production Reporting Studio screen.
The Create Data Connection wizard is displayed.
2. OK
On the first page, enter a name to identify the data connection.
For example, you could enter Essbase to identify a connection to an Essbase data source.
3. OK
On the second page, select DDO to identify the data source provider.
4. NOT OK. The messages shown: "Unable to start the JVM. Ensure that the JRE section of the SQR.INI file contains the correct directory. (4)"
"Unable to erad DDo Registry.Properties file. Check location and accessibility, an that the sqr.ini DDO pathvariable settings are correct (DDO.3)."
On the third page, select an Essbase data source.
The wizard displays the available registries and data sources.
Seems some setting problems. We would check that. Any suggestions to that error??

Hi Ravinkanth,
1. Goto workspace .
2. Goto 'Explore' option in workspace.
3. Now,here you ll see all the reports created by any specific user ( for example , if you have logged in using 'admin' and 'password' in web analysis and had created reports , then you ll find admin -> reports-> all your reports .
4. IF you right click and select 'edit permissions', you get the provisioning part of it. You can do it per user, per group or even per role. i.e
If you want to give 'view' access of your reports to all the users ,who are 'report designers', then you can pull the 'report designer' role to the right side ,and give him the 'view access'.
Hope this helps.

2 I have installed apache and deployed testdrive war and I can see the employee data through the browser.

Not Possible Create Database Connection to Essbase From Web Analysis Studio

Hello
It is not possible to create a database connection to Essbase cluster from Web Analysis (WA) Studio. The following error message is displayed:
"Unable to retrieve the list of available databases"
And the detail:
[1033] Native: 1003 Error: Create connection failed [For input string:
[ApsServer=, OlapServer=[HOST];]]
Foundation Services, Agent, Financial Reporting and Web Analysis are enabled.
As additional information from EAS can seamlessly connect to Essbase server.
The EPM version is 11.1.2.2

Hi ,
For creating a WebAnalysis database connection, please make sure you do the following :
1. Verify if you have Essbase client installed on the WebAnalysis server.
2. Check if the path of adm drivers are mentioned in the system environment variable -> PATH entries.
3. Try giving the Essbase server name instead of the cluster name when attempting to create a connection.
4. The error 1003 means it doesnt seem to create a connection with the server and while attempting it fails.
Make sure you have all the parameters mentioned correctly in the server details.
To get detailed information on what is causing the problem, make sure you stop the WebAnalysis service and start it from console .
