Web analysis provisioning

I am new to web analysis. I want to know how to give authentication and provisioning of the reports or documents which I created in web analysis. Any help pls

Hi Ravinkanth,
1. Goto workspace .
2. Goto 'Explore' option in workspace.
3. Now,here you ll see all the reports created by any specific user ( for example , if you have logged in using 'admin' and 'password' in web analysis and had created reports , then you ll find admin -> reports-> all your reports .
4. IF you right click and select 'edit permissions', you get the provisioning part of it. You can do it per user, per group or even per role. i.e
If you want to give 'view' access of your reports to all the users ,who are 'report designers', then you can pull the 'report designer' role to the right side ,and give him the 'view access'.

Problem with Web Analysis

Hi,
With the help from some of the experts in this forum, I have finished installing and configuring the following 3 Hyperion 9.3.1 products (in this order) on our Windows 2003 development server.
V11229-01.zip (Hyperion Shared Services)
V11207-01.zip (Hyperion Reporting and Analysis - Services Release)
V11223-01.zip (Hyperion Reporting and Analysis - UI Services Release)
The backend is an Oracle 10g database.
I can successfully log into
(1) Shared Services @ http://localhost:58080/interop as admin/<default password>
(2) Web Analysis @ http://localhost:16000/WebAnalysis/WebAnalysis.jsp with the same userid/password (that I used to log into Shared Services)
(3) Workspace @ http://localhost:45000/workspace/index.jsp with the same userid/password (that I used to log into Shared Services)
This tells me I probably configured these componently correctly.
However, it seems that I cannot do something basic in Web Analysis Studio. For Example, if I try to do
File->New->Document Wizard, most of the menu options under "File" are grayed out.
To be precise, the following options under "File" are grayed out.
New, Open, Edit, Close, Close All, Save, SAve As, SAve as HTML, Properties, IMport, Export, Email As LInk, Print
so, I could not even do File->New.
In fact, the "Edit", "View" and "Display" menu items in the menu bar are grayed out as well.
As you can see, I can do very little in the Web Analysis Studio (I am logged in as admin user, which is the only user now).
Is this a permission issue? or did I fail to install some necessary components?
Also, in this forum, how do I post a screen capture (saved as an image)?

pls. try to give admin user more rights (Provision to "Report Designer" or "BIPlus Administrator" - I dont know exactly which roles are available concerning BI Plus suite).

Few Hyperion Web Analysis questions

Hi All,
We are using Web Analysis 11.1.2 and i am a newbie to it. I have few questions regarding reports which may be of very basic level;
Q1. If we right click on a report then we have an option of "Edit data" through which we can enter data directly into planning. My question is that how can i disable this option for all users as i don't want them to manipulate any data through a report?
Q2. As we have made a report in which we have used the dimension members that are used in Hyperion planning. The name of member in Hyperion planning for example is ABC and i want to change the name to XYZ in Hyperion Web analysis report. How is that possible?

Q1 depends on the level of provisioning and or useraccess permissions on essbase/olap level.
Use Shared Services in combination with EAConsole to restrict this.
Q@. In plain/ native essbase you can add aliases to the member. Normally you do not edit planning members in essbase (since you have to change them in planning it self) But perhaps you can. You can give it a try in a testenvironment.

Data not exist for member combination in web analysis report

When I run the report in web analysis studio iam able to find the data for a particular member combination.When I try to run the same report in workspace iam not finding any data for same member combination.Can U please help me to resolve this issue

You must've realized that- Even if you select only the desired members, you end up being able to drill-down unwanted members. Correct ? :)
The only way, I believe, is- To create a users' group at your Data source side, perhaps, Essbase & provision this new group with a Metaread filter which prevents him/her from Drilling down to the leaf node.
PS: Giving Read access might also let the user not see the data for children. But, if you want to hide the members also, Metaread+ is the way to go.

Security issue in Web Analysis

I have an issue with granting security to users and groups who are accessing a presentation in a shared desktop.
As per Web Analysis Studio Guide,you should also
"Edit Security file properties to grant access to groups hyperion web analysis"
Can anyone help me with how to edit Security File properties?
If this is not the best practice,can anyone suggest any other approach of provisioning security for documents in Hyperion Web Analysis?

can you tell me what inherit permission you gave to make it work.
I have a folder having a view access only. whenever i make new reports as admin...i cant see my new reports untill i refresh the "apply permission to children" options gain.
But thats not what i m looking for...i want it come on its own when I create a report.

Disable Drill options only for one dimension of Web Analysis report

Please help me on below issue.
I created a web analysis report with 3 dimensions Accounts, MRC and Measure. I have to disable drill down and drill up options only for Measure. Accounts and MRC should be drillable where as Measure should show the selected member as static and not drillable.

Web Analysis report recover

Hi guys,
Web analyssi 9.2... oracle 9i, aix 5.1 is the environment
some troubles here... by a error, someone change config information about Web analysis server, and we lost the connection with the relational database (oracle), after the smart guy erased all server info, except i could rescue the information contained in the Oracle database, where WA reports are Saved.
I reinstalled WA server, and reconfigured the relational database, deployed the server and configurated the server as well. The server works fine, but to recover the reports I was thinking that with just restoring the backup database (all tables) will let me recover the reports, but now what i get form the server is invalid login /password, even in shared services the user is registered and provisioned.
I could imagine some configuration info (server connection strings and like that) is stored in the tables of relational dabatase. I wonder if ther is any way to recover the reports with just the old data form de relational database, and how to do that.

Hi Giovanni Migotto,
Do you import all the reports from webanalysis and delete the database connections to the reports and export it into Workspace, by the time of exporting it will asks you the database connection and the application name.
provide those and try to run again those reports hope will work fine.

Error while importing Web Analysis reports using LCM in 11.1.2.1

Hi,
I am trying to import Web Analysis reports using LCM in 11.1.2.1. But while importing the reoprts I am getting the following error:
" The following object couldn't be imported:EPMRAF-31040:Provisioned user couldn't be found in target system."
FYI: Security is already imported successfully in the target system. Including reporting and analysis.
Please help.

Are the child forms that are included in the composite form imported into the destination environment?

Error occurred while saving document in Web Analysis Studio

We have encountered an issue when we tried to save a new report in Web Analysis. An error message box will prompt up displaying "Error occurred while saving document." (Please refer to the attached screenshots). Clicking the details button gives no response.
Originally we encountered this whilst creating a report with an SQL spreadsheet (JDBC connection tested successfully), which failed to save. Proceeding to test this saving a blank report also gave the same error message.
The report shows up in the Oracle view, however also produces an error when trying to open it. "Unable to perform request
Undefined exception encountered. Recommended Action: Contact your corporate technical support." (Please refer to the attached screenshots)

Thanks for your reply. I am already using the admin account which is given administrator provisioning under Reporting & Analysis. I have not had issues in the past of saving documents to the server location (e.g. with FR studio). Any ideas as to what else could cause this error? Thanks!

Can't see databases in Hyperion Workspace or Web Analysis 9.3.1

Hi,
I installed all the components of reporting and analysis (services, ui services, client). I had also installed Shared services, created a user and created an essbase database/application.
However, when I log on to the Workspace, I can't see any databases (including the sample/demo) in the Workspace or Web Analysis and thus am unable to create any reports. In the manual, it says the following:
Log on to Workspace, go to Navigate > Explore and Add Database Connection.
Alternatively, you can do it from the Edit Menu in Web Analysis.
Unfortunately, the first option doesn't seem to exist, while the Edit menu is disabled in Web Analysis.
Can anyone please point me to the right direction?

What have you Provisioned your user with?
Are there Projects Registered with Shared Services? Have you Assigned Users to those Projects?
I would suggest you refer to the Hyperion Security Guide as a starting point

User have total access in shared services and workspace.For the Workspace piece, do you mean you give the user access to the report/folder on Workspace?
In Shared Services, what kind of provisioning did you give this user?
What is the error message the user is getting when he runs the report?

Could not connect to the OLAP server web analysis hyperion

I created a document report in Web Analysis with an administrator user then I created a user in the shared services console and granted him access to the report, but entering with this user I can access the report, but receive the following error message: Could not connect to the OLAP server web analysis hyperion.

Is the user having correct provisioning in Essbase? Which version? (older versions, you'll have to synchronize Essbase with HSS)

Security settings for web analysis and finacial reporting

Would anyone be able to let me know when I am creating a group/user within Shared Services what provisioning I need to set up so that the user can create there own reports using finacial reports and web analysis.
Also If a user is to just refresh reports but cannot change them what access do they need?

Disable Save and Save As in Web Analysis

I have some standard Web Analysis reports that I want to share amongst users. I've created a common folder in Workspace and saved the reports (each is just a simple grid) to the folder.
If my users are provisioned as Viewers they can drill up and down on the grid but not navigate the dimensions (no pivoting).
But, and this is the question, how do I stop Web Analysis from prompting them to save the report if they have drilled down? If the user does click on Save the file is not saved. The same goes for Save As -- the user can type anything he likes -- regardless of location (personal folder or originating folder) or name (same value or a different one) the file is not saved.

Thank you for your answer -- that did the trick.
Bizarrely (I use that word a lot wrt Web Analysis), I cannot see this setting for Viewer provisioned users but I can for users provisioned as Analysts/Report Designers. In my case that's fine as I need to move users to that level of provisioning to allow them to swap dimensions and save the reports to their custom folders when desired.

P.S. Yes, having each user change it manually/separately is a pain but that can be addressed in training.

Charting with Web Analysis

I've got a combo bar / area chart built with Web Analysis which shows the vertical bars overlayed on top of the area graph. The problem is that the bars are really wide and I would like to make them a bit smaller so I can see a bit more of the area graph and I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I recall with previous versions of web analysis there was a property that you set which specified the amount of space between the bars but I can't seem to find anything like that.
Is there a way to specify the width of the bars on a bar chart with Web Analysis?
