Web App Cascading Controls

I am trying to implement this: http://blogs.office.com/2013/08/01/introducing-a-new-user-experience-feature-in-access-web-apps-cascading-controls/
I have a table Encounters with two rows: M1
(lookup to OMed) and M1LotNumber (ShortText).
There is another table OMed Attributes which has rows: Med (lookup to OMed) and Lot Number (ShortText).
In this view, M1 is an autocomplete and M1LotNumber is a dropdown. I want M1LotNumber to show items related to the M1 lookup value. This works flawlessly.
My problem is that once selected, the dropdown value will not save to the M1LotNumber row. Even though control source is set, when I save the view, the lot number does not save. Furthermore, if I open a saved record and change ONLY the M1LotNumber, the view
does not let me save - this tells me that Access is not recognizing the control source.
What about my setup is wrong?

Hi Dr.Cole,
Is there any error message when you click on the Save button in the web page? I can successfully save the cascading ComboBox's value into the current table without any problem.
If there's some errors pop up in the web page, in ordinary circumstances, the problem is that you didn't correctly set those fields for the cascading ComboBox, "Bound Field", "Display Field" or "Related Field" (especially the
"Related Field", you need to set it to the M1's control's bound field). So please try to change these fields.

  • Web App - different input type when submitting

    I have a Web App image field on a customer submitted Web App field.
    It is originally inserted as
    <input type="field" name="CAT_Custom_22222" ... />
    But I'm using it as
    <input type="text" name="CAT_Custom_22222" ... />
    and from another dropdown field input, a jQuery snippet would grab the value and insert into it
    so then it would look like this
    <input type="text" name="CAT_Custom_22222" ... value="/image/image-set/A/C/E/111.jpg" />
    The dropdown has set of pre-defined URL of images so when users change, it will print the image on the page as well as update the IMAGE field to be submitted.
    It was set up that way due to another "non-web-person-client-case"
    There are random "users" submitting the web form and they are meant to upload certain file from limited selection anyway so I set up the dropdown.
    If an administrator needs to change the image, he can log into backend and upload image and of course he's not capable of finding correct URL path and type it in
    (that's why it couldn't be a text field in the first place)
    Long story short, this has been working beautifully for last couple of years then suddenly stopped working. I guess there must have been a change where BC wouldn't accept type="text" for a field meant to be type="file". It's bit disappointing as BC database would still save it in string format anyway.
    Any suggestion to this ?

  • Web App Portfolio

    I am currently working on a website that will showcase the work of a business in a portfolio web app.
    I have a working list view that populates a web page with portfolio items. My detail view consists of the expanded information for any particular portfolio item. I would like to add a Flexslider to showcase more than one image in the detail view.
    What I am failing to grasp is how do I add the Flexslider web app to the detail page without having to create a separate web apps for each portfolio item? Does that make sense?
    What I would like to do, is add the Flexslider to each portfolio web app item and be able to only show the associated slides for that particular portfolio item. Is this possible? Do I have use categories to accomplish this? Or is there an easy solution that I am unaware of?

    Cedric,
    Thank you very much. Your recommendation was very helpful.
    I was able to get my web app up and running by a slightly different means. Turns out it was pretty simple.
    All I did was:
    Set up the web app as intended
    Added the flexslider to the detail view
    Placed {tag_description} between the <ul></ul> in the FlexSlider HTML
    And now, this allows me to add images and video in the wysiwyg editor. All I have to do is wrap each item between <li></li>.
    Not only is this simple, but I dont have to create and use a separate web app to control the portfolio slides like I first thought. I can now add as many slides as I need per web app item.
    Thanks again and take care!

  • Office 2013 - SharePoint Web App: How can I link a subform on two Master/Child controls?

    I have a form in which I have placed a subform in a SharePoint Web App.
    I also have 2 controls on the form, from which I'd like to link to two columns on the subform.  How can I have two Master/Child linking relationships to a subform.
    In Access desktop, it is done in a window "Subform Field Linker", like this:
    Master Fields:          Child Fields:
    <sorry I could not include a link until my account is verified>
    Thanks,
    Keith

    Hi Bruce,
    >>Are subforms in web apps different in this regard?<<
    Yes, there are two kinds of database. In an on-premise environment, Access 2013 apps are hosted by SharePoint 2013 while the data is stored in SQL Server 2012. SharePoint 2013 provides authentication, authorization, and security for Access 2013 apps.
    The back-end tables, views, macros, and queries are stored in a SQL Server 2012 database.
    You can get more detail about Access 2013 web app from link below:

  • Mobile app based on web service data control and VO with VC runtime error

    Hi,
    Jdev 11.1.2.3.0 + mobile extension.
    Windows 7, 64 bit.
    Reproduceable with Android emulator but not on iOS and iOS emulator.
    I can not test on real Android device because we do not have it in our office.
    So I don't know wether this issue is related to android emulator only or to android in general.
    Also not reproduceable by Oracle support.
    I have a VO "Employees" with a VC "department_id = :departmentIdVariable" and exposed the find method for this VO via service interface in AM.
    (see demo video from https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/developing_with_oracle_adf_mobile?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook).
    In a ADF mobile app I create a parameter form and amx:listView like demoed in the mentioned video.
    Whenever I test this app on android emulator I get the error below.
    Exact the same page used in a second feature works fine.
    I found out that the problem only occures on the first attept (this means when I open the page on the second feature first then this will fail and the subsequent call of the first page will be successfull).
    The problem does not occure when the web service data control does not contain a method based on VC with bind variable.

    I have recreated the model and mobile app more than 20 times, re-installed Jdev, re-created Jdev settings (integrated WLS & Co), ran the web services on a different machine.
    On my site this problem is 100% reproduceable with android emulator.
    regards
    Peter

    Hi, Peter, this could be an issue with proxy server setting. Are you behind a firewall when you test this?
    iOS simulator would use Mac's proxy setting. Android Emulator has its own proxy setup - it's a bit complicated to get to and varies based on the Android emulator you are using. For 4.1 emulator (you should always use 4.x or above emulators), you would need to go into the emulator itself, and go to settings - Wireless & Networks - click More... - Mobile Networks - Access Point Names. You should see an Access point used by the emulator to simulate network connection. Mine says "T-Mobile US". You click on it, and then you can select the proxy attribute and set it according to your office's settings.
    Hope that resolves the issue.
    Thanks,
    Joe Huang

  • Office Web Apps is not working

       Hi,
         We have tried to deploy Office Web Apps Server but, after a number of tests, we haven't been able to view PowerPoint presentations. We tested "everything" but it didn't work.
         Finally, to simplify and focus the problem, we just deployed Office Web Apps Server "on its own", that is: just Internal URL, HTTP, Open From URL Enabled and sharing docs from a shared folder in the same server. So we have:
         \\wacserver\share\<Docs> (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
         http://wacserver
         They work both "/hosting/discovery" and "/op/generate.aspx".
         If we try to view Excel doc, it works. If we try to view Word or PowerPoint, id doesn't work.
         For PowerPoint, it appears the PowerPoint Web Apps frame (FILE, START SLIDE SHOW, SLIDE - OF -, NOTES...) and, in the center, an animation
    "PowerPoint Web App .....". After a couple of minutes, it stops with "Either you've lost network connectivity or our server is to busy to handle your request".
         What we have seen from different sources:

    but SYSTEM, we have checked, has "Full control" permissions in those keys or folders.
         These errors appear by Office Web Server running itself, although we are not making a PowrPoint file request.

         We have tried a number of things but none has worked. The farm has just one server and it says ist's unhealthy. We have Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. We have read some ways to fix the health, like HTTP Activation feature, but it only works
    for Windows Server 2012 as fas as we know.
         Has anybody experienced something like this or have a posible solution? Office Web Apps Server should be so easy to deploy but we have spent a lot of time with this.
         Thank you very much. Your help will be very appreciated.
         Kind regards.

    Hi John,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you cannot view the PowerPoint files in Office Web Apps in SharePoint.
    Was there any error when you view the PowerPoint files in Office Web Apps?
    You can troubleshoot the error following the link below:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff431687.aspx#tshoot
    I also recommend to re-configure SharePoint to use the Office Web Apps Server to see if the issue still occurs.

  • Sorry, something went wrong - Open Office File from Search Results Page with Office Web Apps

    Hi,
    I'm getting "Sorry, something went wrong" error when I'm trying to open any office document from inside Search Results Page with Office Web Apps, the same error is appearing in the document preview as well.
    The error in SharePoint logs says that the file cannot be found.
    Please note that this error is coming only when the "Filename" of the document is not written in English (in my case its written with Arabic characters).
    If I try to open it from the document library, its opening properly with no errors.
    The only difference between two URLs (document URL in Search Results and in Document Library) is the value for "sourcedoc" attribute;
    In the case of Search Results page, the filename in "sourcedoc" attribute is kept as is with Arabic characters.
    While in the Document Library, the filename in "sourcedoc" attribute is converted into different characters (something like: "B9%D9%85%D9%8").
    Anybody have an idea on how to overcome this issue, implement a workaround or modify the "sourcedoc" behavior?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Hamza AlSughier

    Dear Wendy,
    Thanks for your efforts, I already tried your last suggestion before, but this didn't solve my problem.
    Actually my end users are accessing this portal using ADFS and HTTPS.
    Finally I got this solved, I have done below to get my overall solution working perfectly:
    - First I have configured Windows Authentication and ADFS Authentication on the same zone which is the default zone.
    - The issue when opening office documents with Arabic file name has disappeared as a result of first change.
    - Then I have faced an issue where we are not able to crawl content under Default zone, however we have to do so, after too many efforts, I found that its related to the Load-balancer/proxy, I have made the crawler server
    to crawl himself (http://CrawlServerName:PortNumber).
    - Also a change on Alternate Access Mapping was needed, I have set one of the extended zones (which is running Windows Authentication only) as Internal URL for the Default Zone, and this is was the URL I used for Crawling.
    I have configured Server Name Mappings to make sure we got proper URLs in Search Results.
    - Then we faced another issue, which is Authentication selection on login page (How to bypass this page, and authenticate using ADFS auto), I used this solution (Set Custom Sign In Page):
    http://0ut0ftheb0x.wordpress.com/2014/01/04/skip-the-authentication-selection-page-at-_logindefault-aspx-in-a-mixed-authentication-environment/.
    - I faced one more issue as a result of above workaround; Sign Out functionality wasn't working well; users get logged in automatically whenever I click on Sign Out. I solved this by modifying the "Sign Out" Control under _layouts;
    I made it to redirect users to ADFS Sign Out Page instead of SharePoint Sign Out Page (I know its not recommended, but I don't have any other option).

  • How do i add my access web app into a iframe on a "site page"?

    I just created a MS Access "custom web app", and published it on my site.
    Then i can open the Access form when i click on the link in the menu at my site. The problem is just that it removes my site logo and all the menu's. Well, its like fullscreen.
    What i really want is to show the form in the first page of my site, "Home".
    I have tested insert -> "Embed code", and then enter the following code:
    <iframe src="https://xxxxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/xxx/xxx/databaselist></iframe>
    It just shows this warning: "This content cannot be displayed in a frame"
    Then i found this site: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/officeapps/archive/2012/12/12/iframing-sharepoint-hosted-pages-in-apps.aspx
    Quote:
    SharePoint page developers can opt-out of clickjacking protection by adding the AllowFraming control to their .aspx pages:
    <WebPartPages:AllowFraming runat="server" />
    Well, does anyone here know how to do this with a access form?

  • Web Apps FAQ

    Hello,
    I am working on knowledge base entries for developing Web Applications with Sun ONE Studio. I would be interested in whether any of the following are helpful.
    Also, are there other entries you think should be added? Other comments? Corrections?
    Thanks
    Web Apps FAQ
    Creating a Web Application
    Q: Where do I put my JSP files in my web module.
    A: JSP files can go into the web module's document base directory or any
    of its subdirectories except for the subdirectories under WEB-INF. For example,
    the following is correct:
    correctWebModStructure
    + login.jsp
    ++ JSP_files
    +++ shop.jsp
    + WEB-INF
    ++ Classes
    ++ lib
    ++ web.xml
    The following is incorrect:
    incorrectWebModStructure
    + WEB-INF
    ++ login.jsp
    ++ JSP_files
    +++ shop.jsp
    ++ Classes
    ++ lib
    ++ web.xml
    Note that with the incorrect structure, the JSP files will compile but
    they will not run on a server.
    Q: Where should I put my servlet source and binary files when I create
    and execute a web module from the IDE?
    A: Your compiled classes must go in the appropriate package directory
    under <web mod document root>/WEB-INF/Classes. The easiest place to
    put the source code is in the same directory as the compiled class. To
    put your source code in a different directory, see "Can I put my source code in
    a different directory from WEB-INF/classes?"
    Note that when a class is imported by another class or by a JSP file, the
    class MUST be in a named namespace (package).
    Q: Where do I put my libraries (JAR files) in a web module?
    A: You can put the libraries in one of several places:
    o If the JAR file will be used only by the module, put it in the
    WEB-INF/lib directory.
    o If the JAR file will be shared by multiple web modules look at the server's
    documentation to find out how to make the library available across web
    modules.
    - If you are using the Sun One Application server, you can either copy
    the JAR into the <instance_dir>/lib directory (such as
         <AppServerInstallDir>\domains\domain1\server1\lib) or edit the
         classpath-suffix attribute of the java-config element in the
         server.xml file. For details about server.xml, see the Sun ONE Application
         Server Administrators Configuration File Reference. You must
         restart the server.
    - If you are using the internal Tomcat server, put the JAR file into one of
    the following directories:
    <ide-install-dir>/jwsdp/lib/
    <ide-install-dir>/jwsdp/common/classes
    <ide-install-dir>/jwsdp/common/lib/
    <ide-install-dir>jwsdp/shared/classes
    <ide-install-dir>/jwsdp/shared/lib/
    Note that for compilation, a JAR file must either be mounted as as an
              archive file or the JAR file must be put into <ide-install-dir>\lib\ext.
    When you add a JAR file to WEB-INF/lib directory tree, the IDE mounts
              the JAR file for you automatically.
    Q: Can I put my source code in a different directory from WEB-INF/classes?
    A: Yes. For example, say you have a directory structure as follows:
    myWebApp
    + WEB-INF
    ++ Classes
    +++ myPkg
    + src
    ++ myPkg
    1. In the Filesystems tab, mount myWebApp and separately mount src.
    The Explorer should look like this:
    <path>/myWebApp
    <path>/myWebApp: /WEB-INF/classes <-IDE automatically mounts this
    <path>/src
    2. Open Tools > Options > Building > External Compilation and select this Target:
    <path>/myWebApp: /WEB-INF/classes
    (By default, this setting is project wide, if you click the >> column, you
    can set it at the user or default level.)
    3. Whenever you create a Java file under /WEB-INF/classes, the IDE automatically
    adds a servlet entry and a mapping in the web.xml. Because you are putting
    your source elsewhere, you will have to enter these entries manually, or do
    the following.
    1. Right-click the web.xml node, and choose Properties.
    2. In the Deployment panel of the web.xml properties window,
    click the ellipses (...) in the Servlets value field to display
    the Servlets Property editor.
    In Servlets Property editor, click Add to display the Add Servlet dialog box.
    In the Add Servlet dialog box, type, or browse for, the servlet class name.
    Type in the name by which you want to identify the servlet.
    3. Click the Edit button for Mappings and add the mapping for the servlet.
    4. Click OK to close the Add Servlet dialog box, then click OK to close
    the Servlets property editor.
    Note: If you don't add the web.xml entries, you might get an error like the
    following:
    "The requested object does not exist on this server.
    The link you followed is either outdated, inaccurate,
    or the server has been instructed not to let you have it.
    Please inform the site administrator of the referring page."
    Q: Why do I get invalid package name when I try to add a package to my
    web module.
    You have two options for creating packages in a web module.
    1. Create a package in a subdirectory of WEB-INF/classes.
    2. Create a package in a directory that is not in the WEB-INF tree and
    put the compiled class in the WEB-INF tree. For example, if you have the
    following directory structure, set the compilation target to WEB-INF/classes.
    myWebMod
    + src
    ++ pkg1
    + WEB-INF
    ++ classes
    +++ pkg1
    ++ lib
    In either case, the WEB-INF/classes directory must be mounted. The IDE
    does this automatically when you create a web module or turn a directory
    into a web module.
    To set the compilation target, choose Tools > Options > Building >
    External Compilation and select the target. In this example, you would
    select:
    <path>/myWebMod: /WEB-INF/classes
    Do not use a directory structure like this:
    myWebMod
    + WEB-INF
    ++ src << wrong
    ++ classes
    You can alternatively keep your source code in the appropriate package
    directory under WEB-INF/classes.

    Q: JSP code completion does not work now that I use the Jakarta recommended
    directory structure and use Ant to build and deploy my web applications? Can
    I fix this?
    To make code completion work, you must mount the following libraries and
    directories in the Filesystems tab of the Explorer window. Mounting a parent
    directory does not work.
    * <working-directory>/src
    * <working-directory>/build
    * Every .jar file that is copied by the build script to
              <working-directory>/build/WEB-INF/lib. (The IDE automatically mounts
                   all the jar files in WEB-INF/lib when you mount working-directory/build.)
    * Any other libraries that are used by the web application, such as
              libraries that have been deployed to the server.

    Q: Can I change the URL that is used to execute a JSP page? For example,
    instead of http://localhost/welcome.jsp, can I have the URL be
    http://localhost/shopping/welcome.jsp?
    A: Yes, right-click on the WEB-INF and choose Properties from the contextual
    menu. In the Properties window, type /<name>. For example, type
    /shopping
    Note that youu can use servlet mappings in the web.xml file to control the
    mappings of URLs to servlets.
    Q: Is there a way to copy the compiled code to the server for testing
    without having to create a WAR file?
    A: Yes, this is the default action when you right-click the WEB-INF
    node and choose Deploy from the contextual menu.
    With Internal and External Tomcat installations, the deploy action causes
    the IDE to change the server's configuration file to add a context entry,
    which points to the document root of your working version of the web
    application. For example
    /myApp -> C:\My Working Directory\myApp
    When you deploy to the Sun ONE application server using the IDE's Deploy
    action, the IDE copies the web application's directory structure to
    the server's <instance>/applications/j2ee-modules directory.
    Q: How do I create a WAR file and deploy the WAR file onto different servers.
    A: To create a WAR file, right click the WEB-INF node and choose Export WAR
    file. See the online help for details about adding and filtering out
    components.
    Look at the server's documentation to find out how to deploy the WAR file
    to the server. Here is an example of deploying a WAR file to the Sun ONE
    Application Server 7:
    asadmin deploy user myusername password mypassword \
    -host localhost port 4848 type web contextroot /myApp instance server1 \
    c:\apps\myapp.war
    Note that when you deploy to a server that is registered with the IDE,
    you do not need to create a WAR file. Instead, you can right-click on the
    WEB-INF node and choose Deploy.
    Compiling a Web Application
    Q: Why do I get compiler errors when I compile from the IDE even though
    I don't get errors when I compile from the command line?
    As the IDE's classpath is derived from the mounted filesystems, the problem
    is most likely caused by not mounting the necessary filesystems. For the
    following web app, you must mount in the Explorer AWebApp, WEB-INF/classes
    (this directory is mounted automatically when you create a web app or
    turn a directory into a web app), and every JAR file in the WEB-INF/lib
    directory (which is also done automatically). Note that all classes and
    JAR files that the application needs must be in AWebApp/WEB-INF or
    AWebApp/lib or the server's location for shared libraries and classes.
    Otherwise, the module may compile but it won't run in the server.

    +++ classes
    +++ lib
    ++++ a.jar
    ++++ b.jar
    Q: Why do I get a "cannot resolve symbol" compiler error message for my JSP.
    A: Check the import statements in your JSP file. The import statement must
    specify the fully qualified class name (package name plus class), and the
    class must be in a namespace. The namespace restriction is because the Javac
    bytecode compiler in J2SE 1.4.0 is more strict than in previous
    versions in enforcing compliance with the Java Language Specification,
    and thus rejects import statements that import a type from an unnamed namespace.
    Valid import statement:
    <%@page import="org.alpha.beta.MyBean" %>
    Also, make sure your compiled classes are in a subfolder of
    <web-module>/WEB-INF/classes, such as, for the above bean,
    <web-module>/WEB-INF/classes/org/alpha/beta/MyBean.class.
    Note that you will also get this error if you have created a link under
    WEB-INF/classes to a package in another directory. Your package must
    physically exist in the WEB-INF/classes directory.
    Q: Why do I get " '.' expected" when my JSP is compiled.
    The Javac bytecode compiler in J2SE 1.4.0 is more strict than in previous
    versions in enforcing compliance with the Java Language Specification, and
    thus rejects import statements that import a type from an unnamed namespace.
    For example, if you have an import statement like the following, the compiler
    expects the imported class to be in a package. Therefore, the compiler
    assumes that MyBean is a package and expects the package name to be followed
    by a period (.) and either a subpackage or a class. To resolve the problem,
    put the bean in a package.
    INVALID IMPORT STATEMENT:
    <%@page import="MyBean" %>
    VALID IMPORT STATEMENT
    <%@page import="MyPackage.MyBean" %>
    Q: Why do I get a package does not exist error message when the package exists?
    A: The problem might be that you have not mounted the web module at the
    correct point. You must mount the directory that is directly above the WEB-INF
    directory. For example, if you have the following directory structure
    you must mount the webApp1 filesystem. When you specifically mount
    webApp1, the IDE recognizes the filesystem as a web module. The IDE
    automatically mounts WEB-INF/classes, so that it is in the IDE's classpath,
    and provides the execute and deploy actions when you right-click on the
    WEB-INF node:
    allMyWebApps
    + webApp1
    ++ WEB-INF
    +++ Classes
    ++++ myPkg
    You can also get this error message when you do not put your Classes directory
    under WEB-INF. For example, if you put the Classes directory in web-info, you
    will get this error message.
    You will get this error if you have created a link under WEB-INF/classes
    to a package in another directory. Your package must physically exist in
    the WEB-INF/classes directory.
    Running Web Applications
    Q: Why do I get the 404 error message "The requested resource is not available"?
    Why do I get the error message "The requested object does not exist on
    this server"?
    A: If you get either of these errors on a servlet, check the servlet's entry
    in the web.xml. The entry should be similar to the following:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>myServlet</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>org.alpha.beta.MyServlet</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>myServlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/MyServlet</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    The name can be any name as long as it is the same in both mappings.
    The class must be the fully qualified class name. The pattern
    must be a pattern that matches the URI that invokes the servlet. In
    this case, the pattern matches the URI http://localhost:8081/MyServlet.
    Q: Why do I get a Generated Servlet error "Class not found."
    A: This error can occur if the class is not in a package. To resolve the
    problem, put the class in a package.
    If the class is in a package and you still get this message,
    check the import statements in your JSP file. The import statement must
    specify the fully qualified class name (package name plus class).
    For example:
    <%@page "org.alpha.beta.CustomerBean" %>
    Q: Why do I get the error message "Unable to load class" when my JSP calls
    a class from a library?
    This message usually appears because the library's JAR file is not in the
    WEB-INF/lib directory. The server expects all of the web app's JAR files
    to either be in the WEB-INF/lib directory or in the server's
    shared library directory.
    For more information, search for the "File Location in a Web Module" topic
    in the online help.
    Q: Why do I get an error message during JSP compilation that a tld file is not
    found when the file is there?
    A: The problem might be that you have not put the tld file in the correct
    place. It should go in the WEB-INF directory.
    This problem also happens if have not mounted the web module at the
    correct point.
    You must mount the directory that is directly above the WEB-INF directory. For
    example, if you have the following directory structure you must mount the
    myWebApp1 filesystem. When you specifically mount webApp1, the IDE recognizes
    the filesystem as a web module. The IDE automatically mounts WEB-INF/classes,
    which in turn adds the path to the IDE's classpath and provides the execute
    and deploy actions when you right-click on the WEB-INF node:
    allMyWebApps
    + webApp1
    ++ WEB-INF
    +++ Classes
    ++++ myPkg
    Another cause of the problem could be that the uri in your taglib statement
    is incorrect. For example, this statement is wrong:
                        <%@ taglib uri="struts-html.tld" prefix="html" %> <- Incorrect
    Instead, it should be:
                        <%@ taglib uri="WEB-INF/struts-html.tld" prefix="html" %> <- Correct
    Q: Why do I get a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException when I run my JSP file?
    Everything compiles successfully and the source editor does JSP code completion
    for the class. However, when I execute, the runtime system can't find the new
    classes.
    A: There are several causes of this error. Here are some things to check.
    1. If the class is in a library, make sure the JAR file is in the
    WEB-INF/lib directory or the server's directory for shared libraries.
    Otherwise, make sure the class is in a package under the WEB-INF/Classes
    directory.
    When compiling, the IDE builds the classpath from the mounted filesystems.
    However, when you use the deploy action, the IDE only deploys the classes,
    libraries, and files that are stored in the mounted web module.
    2. Make sure all usebean statements use a fully qualified name for
    the class name.
    WRONG:
    <jsp:useBean id="myBean" class="MyBean" scope="request" />
    CORRECT:
    <jsp:useBean id="myBean" class="org.alpha.beta.MyBean" scope="request" />
    Q. Why am I getting a 500 Internal Server Error? My application compiled but
    when I try to run it, I get an Internal Server Error.
    A: There are several reasons for internal server errors. The "root cause" or
    the "Exception" information can help to narrow in on the problem. Here are
    some common causes:
    a) One common reason is that the compiled classes are not in the right directory
    or a required library (JAR file) is not in the WEB-INF/lib directory.
    When you compile, the IDE uses the classpath to find the resources. However,
    when you deploy an application, the application must strictly follow the
    web module directory structure:
    <document root directory>
    + JSP, HTML and other public files
    + WEB-INF
    ++ web.xml
    ++ <tld files>
    ++ classes
    +++ <pkg 1>
    +++ <pkg 2>
    ++ lib
    +++ <.jar>
    For more information, search for the "File Location in a Web Module" topic
    in the online help.
    b) If you are connecting to a database, make sure the driver is put in the
    server's shared library directory or common library directory.
    c) An error occurs when the server compiles the JSP into a servlet. For example,
    the import or usebean statement is not using the fully qualified class
    name for the bean. The following statements show an incorrect and a correct
    import statement.
    import="MyBean" << wrong
    import="com.myCompany.MyBean" << correct
    In this case, the "Exception" or "Root Cause" might be "Class <bean name> not
    found in import."
    Note that a bean must always be in a package. A bean cannot be put into the
    WEB-INF/classes directory. Instead, it must be in a WEB-INF/classes
    subdirectory.
    Accessing Databases from Web Applications
    Q: I put my database driver in WEB-INF/lib but I still can't access the
    database. What do I do?
    A: If your application performs queries or run statements through JDBC, then
    putting the driver in WEB-INF is sufficient. However, if you are connecting to
    the database through the server, you need to put the driver in the
    server's shared library directory or the server's common library directory.
    You must also set up a connection pool in the server.xml file. See the
    documentation for your server on the specifics, as the details vary for
    each server.

    + login.jsp
    ++ JSP_files
    +++ shop.jsp
    + WEB-INF
    ++ Classes
    ++ lib
    ++ web.xml
    The following is incorrect:
    incorrectWebModStructure
    + WEB-INF
    ++ login.jsp
    ++ JSP_files
    +++ shop.jsp
    ++ Classes
    ++ lib
    ++ web.xml
    A: Yes. For example, say you have a directory structure as follows:
    myWebApp
    + WEB-INF
    ++ Classes
    +++ myPkg
    + src
    ++ myPkg
    The link you followed is either outdated, inaccurate,
    or the server has been instructed not to let you have it.

    assumes that MyBean is a package and expects the package name to be followed
    by a period (.) and either a subpackage or a class. To resolve the problem,
    put the bean in a package.
    INVALID IMPORT STATEMENT:
    <%@page import="MyBean" %>
    VALID IMPORT STATEMENT
    <%@page import="MyPackage.MyBean" %>
    Q: Why do I get a package does not exist error message when the package exists?
    A: The problem might be that you have not mounted the web module at the
    correct point. You must mount the directory that is directly above the WEB-INF
    directory. For example, if you have the following directory structure
    you must mount the webApp1 filesystem. When you specifically mount
    webApp1, the IDE recognizes the filesystem as a web module. The IDE
    automatically mounts WEB-INF/classes, so that it is in the IDE's classpath,
    and provides the execute and deploy actions when you right-click on the
    WEB-INF node:
    allMyWebApps
    + webApp1
    ++ WEB-INF
    +++ Classes
    ++++ myPkg
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>myServlet</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>org.alpha.beta.MyServlet</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>myServlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/MyServlet</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    + webApp1
    ++ WEB-INF
    +++ Classes
    ++++ myPkg
    WRONG:
    <jsp:useBean id="myBean" class="MyBean" scope="request" />
    CORRECT:
    <jsp:useBean id="myBean" class="org.alpha.beta.MyBean" scope="request" />
    <document root directory>
    + JSP, HTML and other public files
    + WEB-INF
    ++ web.xml
    ++ <tld files>
    ++ classes
    +++ <pkg 1>
    +++ <pkg 2>
    ++ lib
    +++ <.jar>
The following statements show an incorrect and a correct
    import statement.
    import="MyBean" << wrong
    import="com.myCompany.MyBean" << correct

  • Is it even possible to dynamically apply view criteria in an ADF Web App?

    This is one of those situations where something that should take an hour ends up taking days.
    * I have a view.
    * The view has Bind Variables associated with it.
    * The view has View Criteria associated with it.
    * Each of the View Criteria use different Bind Variables.
    * I have a search criteria input page that receives from the user what will ultimately be used to set the bind variables.
    * I have a search results page that uses the view to display a table.
    * I have the code that dynamically sets view criteria and parameters. It is based on the following:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/b31974/bcadvvo.htm#BCGFHAGA
    * This code works great, until the iterator associated with the table binding to the view is initialized. At that time, the view is reset to its defaults, and all of my code's doings are discarded. How do I know this? Because I have gone so far as to run my code that sets view criteria and binding variables dynamically in a phase event handler for the search results page in the render response phase. There is no other point at which to dynamically modify the view.
    This is turning into a situation where it seems I will need 5 different views and 5 different pages in order to show a single set of query results. I cannot get dynamically applied view criteria to work in an ADF web app. Has anyone else done it? Can anyone relate to this? Are there any other suggestions before I conclude that it's not possible for this framework to handle this simple scenario?
    Thanks

    There must be a setting or something that I am still missing here. If I write code just like this and make sure it is executed, I still only see the results of my view executed without the view criteria applied using the default bind variable values that I supplied in the view object.
    It's like the fact that I set the bind variables, the view criteria, and executed the view query programmatically is lost on the iterator -- it's like it never happened. What setting is used to ensure that the iterator uses the outcome of what I executed programmatically? There has to be a critical set or setting that I am missing.
    Here is the iterator and search region definitions defined in the page def "executables" section:
      <executables>
         <iterator Binds="CustomSearchView1" RangeSize="25"
                  DataControl="AppModuleDataControl"
                  id="CustomSearchView1Iterator"/>
        <searchRegion Binds="CustomSearchView1Iterator"
                      Customizer="oracle.jbo.uicli.binding.JUSearchBindingCustomizer"
                      id="CustomSearchView1Query"/>
        </executables>Here's the "tree" binding in the page def file:
      <bindings>
       <tree IterBinding="CustomSearchView1Iterator" id="CustomSearchView1">
          <nodeDefinition DefName="Model.CustomSearchView" Name="CustomSearchView10">
            <AttrNames>
              <Item Value="CustomId"/>
              <Item Value="CustomProjectNumber"/>
              <Item Value="CustomName"/>
              <Item Value="CustomStatus"/>
              <Item Value="CustomStatusDate"/>
            </AttrNames>
          </nodeDefinition>
        </tree>
      </bindings>In an effort to take page flow out of this mess, I had modified this to include the search criteria and search results on a single page. So, I now have a "Search" button. When the "Search" button is clicked, the action method does the following:
        public String searchActionListener ()
              // Get search criteria from select one choice and text input controls.
              AppModule appModule =
                    ( AppModule ) Configuration.createRootApplicationModule (
                        "Model.AppModule",
                        "AppModuleLocal");
              appModule.customSearch( searchCriteria1,
                                                   searchCriteria2,
                                                   searchCriteria3 );
        }In my application module this translates to:
        public void customNoticeSearch ( String searchCriteria1, String searchCriteria2, String searchCriteria3)
           CustomSearchViewImpl searchViewImp =
               ( CustomSearchViewImpl ) this.getCustomSearchView1 ();
           searchViewImp.customExecuteQuery ( searchCriteria1, searchCriteria2, searchCriteria3);
        }Finally, in my custom view object implementation code:
        public void customExecuteQuery ( String searchCriteria1, String searchCriteria2, String searchCriteria3 )
            // Set-up the parameters that are part of the core query.
            this.setp_searchCriteria1( searchCriteria1);
            this.setp_searchCriteria2( searchCriteria2);
            if ( searchCriteria3 != null )
                ViewCriteriaManager vcm = this.getViewCriteriaManager();
                ViewCriteria vc = vcm.getViewCriteria ( "WithLastCriteria" );
                this.setp_searchCriteria3( new Number ( searchCriteria3 ) );
                this.applyViewCriteria( vc );
            System.out.println ("This is fun.");
            this.executeQuery();
        }This code executes, but the results table is empty, and I know that there are results, because I can execute use execute with params to execute the base query and get the correct results back.
    Thanks for taking a look at this.

  • Office Web Apps Server Antivirus Exclusions

    Hello,
    Are there any guidelines for Antivirus exclusions with respect to Office Web Apps server like we have for Exchange, Lync and SharePoint servers. I would highly appreciate if any help in this regard.
    We have office web apps server that we are using with Lync 2013 and SharePoint 2013.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    There is no Official documentation about it.
    For servers running antivirus software, include all servers running Lync Server 2013 in the exception list in order to provide optimal performance and audio quality.
    You may refer to the link below:

  • Office Web Apps Server 2013 patching and reported build numbers

    Sorry ahead of time for asking this on a Sharepoint forum, but I can't find OWAS forums anywhere.
    When applying patches to Office Web Apps Server the build version as reported by Control Panel | Program and Features does not change.  RTM build number is 15.0.4420.1017.  KB2760445 moves version to 15.0.4481.1005.  You can install it but
    the version/build number as reported by control panel will not change.  I can't find information on build versions on MS website.  I am using Roger Haueter blog
    here to help me with that.  I tries manually downloading updates and applying them as well as relying on WSUS and MS Update.  Results are the same.  You can see the updates under "installed updates".
    Please, share you knowledge.

    This is normal. See these sites for how to identify the build number of the farm:
