Web AS 640 Sneak preview Installation fails

Hello All,
I recieve an Error while installing WAS 640.
I downloaded the file WAS installer , Extracted it and as described started the sapinst.exe
Installation starts but when it reaches Second step that is "SAP System Installation" it fails with Following Error
ERROR 2004-08-05 18:09:32
MOS-01011 'C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\exe/sapstartsrv.exe' returned with '-1'.
Before this Error Following Warning is generated
WARNING 2004-08-05 18:09:32
Execution of the command "C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\exe/sapstartsrv.exe '-r' '-q' '-p' 'C:\usr\sap\J2E\SYS\profile\START_JC00_inld50025435' '-s' 'J2E' '-n' '00' '-U' 'inld50025435\SAPServiceJ2E' '-P' 'XXXXXXXX' '-e' 'inld50025435\j2eadm'" finished with return code -1. Output: S
As this error indicates this service could not be started and a timeout occurs. i also tried to start the service directly from the "Component Services" but it fails there as well.
System is Win2000 and i checked the user is a "Administrator" for the system .
Any suggestions are welcome,

Hi, according to my experience you should:
1. Open sap mmc
2. stop sap instance
and return to installation progress and click "Retry" button again.
I do like that and I can get rid of that error.
The reason why you get that error is:
'During the time we install SAP instance, we still not yet install DB instance, so if you come the log file you will file that we have 'one of the service of SAP can not start'
So during the time you install SAP DB Instance you need restart the instance again for SAP Central Instance can be suitable adapting to SAP DB instance.

I am trying to install Netweaver7.0 sneak preview at my local PC. I have met all required configuration for installation. I am getting an error at step 3 , while setting OS User Passwords.
1)I have manually created two users
SAPServiceJ2E
SAP System > OS User Passwords
Default is abcd1234, ie. the master password. If the password does not match you Windows password policy (eg., 10 letters, at least on digit), installation will fail.

WAS Sneak Preview Installation problem???

Hi,
I was successful in installing the WAS sneak preview installation from sdn.but since I had problems in using sdm password for deploying webdynpro I uninstalled the entire setup of sneak preview.
Again when I tried to install sneal preview,it is stopping at 17th phase of 28 for a long time.The phase is "Load Java Database content".Neither it is giving any error in log file nor moving forward to next step for more than 2 -3 hours.
Has anybody encountered this problem earlier?
Useful answers will be suitably rewarded.

Hi,
it could very well be that your LOG volume is filled 100%. Please check your (<drive>:\sapdb\data\wrk\<SID>\)knldiag and/or knldiag.err file for LOGFULL messages.
In order to free up log, you need to make a Log backup. Prior to your first Log backup, you need to have made a Data backup.
So, if you haven't done any of the above previously, you would need to:
1. define backupmedia for both Log and Data backups
2. perform a data backup using the data backupmedium created in step 1
3. perform a log backup using the log backupmedium created in step 1
Afterwards, you could also create an Autolog backupmedium and switch on the Autologging feature, it would save the log automatically from filling to that degree.
All done conveniently using the Database Manager GUI.

Web AS 6.40 sneak preview installation hangs

I try to install Web AS 6.40 sneak preview on My Windows XP machine. However, the installer hangs on this step:
"MaxDB Database Internal Installation (post processing)"
I have checked sapinst.log, sapinst_dev.log and XCMDOUT.log. There is no error message regarding MaxDB in it.
Am I missing something? Is there other place that I need to check?
I am running Windows XP Professional SP1. My machine has 1 GB of RAM and it has a Pentium M 1.6 GHZ CPU.

I waited for about 15 hours, and still no activity..
Apart from RAM , I have no issues in other front and there is no log activity for 14 1/2 hours.
RAM = 512 MB
Windows Service Pack 4
Internet Explorer 6
NTFS File System - Yes
J2SE SDK 1.4.2_03
Hard disk space = 15 GB
I increased the paging size to 1024 MB
Any thoughts, before I get way frustrated....
I must also add that, I am facing all the issues as indicated in the above posts and the issues are a perfect match.
If there is any more details that I need to add here, please let me know.

Sneak Preview-sdm failed during deployment on web AS

Hi All,
I have downloaded Sneak Preview SP14 and installed in JAVA+Oracle Central mode. I can deploy .par files via portal.At this point, the server and SDM are running without any problem. But when I tried to deploy my first xapps, the SDM turned to be yellow and of course I failed.
Has anyone met this issue before? Any hint or suggesstion will be very useful.

I really wonder how you can install any of our previews on Oracle, as we do not provide such a version.
Of course with a lot of work it would be possible to do so and if you copied the tables to a oracle system it might start. Unfortunately there is more then this. If you want to run with oracle, I recommend to buy a full version and order the oracle package.

SAP NW sneak preview install fails due to error on util_connect

I am attempting to install netweaver sneak preview 2004s on a windows server. When I get to the MaxDB database installation step, the install fails and the following data is in the XCMDOUT.LOG log file:

-24988,ERR_SQL: sql error
1,could not create comm. shared memory [5]
I get the same error when I attempt to provide the command util_connect manually as well.
Please let me know if you can provide any advice on fixing this issue.

if you're installing on the target machine using a Windows Terminal Service (WTS) connection, then the reason for your issue should be explained in note 688028.

SAP sneak preview installation error reg MaxDB

I am trying to install SAP sneak preview for Netweaver.
I made it till here working through various hurdles ,now I am little lost .The installation is having issues on step 13 of 40
I looked up the xcmdout log and the last few lines are below.

Pls F1.. problem with NW sneak preview installation

i just downloaded nw dev stu 2.0.7 sneak preview...successfully.
now then..when i did try to install by executing SAPsetup.exe i get this msg
"This application has failed to start because sapfeiut.dll was not found,Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
let me know what do i do.....its urgent that i get started with the portal basics...pls F1 asap.

Sneak preview Installation error, file source.properties not found

Hi all,
I am trying to install sneak preview (SAPNW2004sJavaSP9_Trial) with j2sdk-1_4_2_09 and jce_policy-1_4_2.zip as specified. The Installation was success upto a while but when I pass parameters to "secure store settings" it says there is no source.properties file in sneakpreview\java\ like that. If somebody have met with a similar problem and could overcome please help. Helping answer rewarded.

NW2004 Sneak Preview installation

I am trying to install NW2004-SP16-Sneak-Preview on a 2 GB laptop with {Windows XP-MediaCenter Edition-Version 2002-SP2).
The installation finished successfully.The database and java instances have started successfully.
When we try to login like http://localhost:50000/irj, I get an error " 503 service unavailable
application stopped "
Details: You have requested an application that is currently stopped".
Does anyone has a solution to this issue?. is it any thing do to with the Media Center Edition?.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is the J2EE home page i.e http://localhost:50000 opening?
If yes, then probably the irj application might not be
running. Go to Visual Administrator usr/sap/.../j2ee/admin
go.bat -> server -> services -> deploy -> applications
and start the sap.com/irj application.

Sneak Preview installation

I'm trying to install "SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal on MaxDB - Developer Edition Sneak Preview" In the final stages of Portal Installation, it is trying to "Start SAP J2EE Engine", But it keeps messages like
INFO 2005-03-21 17:20:15
J2EE Engine JC00 of SAP system J2E did not come up after 950 seconds: waiting for another 20 seconds.
Could anyone please help?

this should resolve to a problem in the startup framework of the J2EE Engine. So you could check the troubleshooting tips listed in the documentation in order to locate the exact problem: <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a2/bb0a412a06f023e10000000a155106/frameset.htm">The J2EE Engine Does Not Come Up After 800 Seconds</a>.

ABAP sneak preview installation

I have installed EP6 SP11 java on my system. I would like to install ABAP sneak preview without removing EP6 SP11. Will there be any problem? If so is there any other way to do it without uninstalling EP6 SP11?

First of all whay do you want ot install ABAP system on a JAVA system?
You can install ABAP system,then do a JAVA system installation,but the other way round is not possible.

Hello ASHOK,
Unzip those three files under a directory of your choice. Then under your directory/smoke execute the start.htm page and there check the hardware and software requirements. If everything is ok, launch the installation process (there's a link for that purpose on the start.htm page).

Netweaver Sneak Preview Installation hangs at phase 18 of 29

Downloaded Sneak Preview SAP Netweaver 04 Java edition file 1:NW04SneakPrevJavaSP11.part1.rar and file 2: NW04SneakPrevJavaSP11.part2.rar. Extracted into a directory and started installation using SAPInst.cmd.
Installation went thru fine till phase 17 and in phase 18 it is taking for ever to complete. Also in the status bar it shows EP_LOCK_APPLS loaded (1 rows). It has been in this phase 18 for more than 3 hours.
Any help is suggested.

I have also faced this problem several times very recently also.
This is mainly because of registry cleanup problems.Do as follows :-
1)goto start -> run -> type regedit.
2)Serach the entire registry for sapdb,maxdb,xserver instances and entries.
3)Delete all the nodes of the above sapdb,maxdb & xserver.
4)Only caution is if the left hand frame of the registry shows any environment values of sapdb,maxdb and xserver don't delete that particular node.
5)After all deletion double-check one more time in the registry and reboot your machine and start a afresh instaallation.During afresh installation the installation software should ask you for DB buffer cache size.If you get that you are sure that your registry is totally cleaned and fresh and definitely the installation will go through.

Web Service in Sneak Preview SP15 gives NoSuchFieldError: _typeRegistry

I've been trying to create a WebDynpro application which should access a simple webservice. To ensure that the webservice actually works, I have successfully contacted it and sent a request with a successful response to it using WSNavigator.
All this is running on the Full Java Sneak Preview SP15 and being developed in NWDS SP15.
What I've done is:
- Create model using url
- Link request in context from model to component
- Link request in context from component to view
The context (of both the component and the view) is strucured as follows:
Context
- Request_UserSessionSoap_login

The init of the component I have set up as follows:
    Request_UserSessionSoap_login login = new Request_UserSessionSoap_login();
    ComplexType_LoginRequestInDef loginRequest = new ComplexType_LoginRequestInDef();
    loginRequest.setUsername("someuser");
    loginRequest.setPassword("somepass");
    login.setIn(loginRequest);
    wdContext.nodeRequest_UserSessionSoap_login().bind(login);
I have then created a method 'login' in the component, which is called in the eventhandler to a button on the view.
The login method is as follows:

When I try running the application and clicking the button I get the 'NoSuchFieldError: _typeRegistry' message in my tracelog.
As far as I know, my there is no errors in my approach, nor my code.
So, examining the generated code, I find where typeRegistry is set. It is in a class extends the abstract class com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.wsdl2java.ServiceBase. The abstract class rightly has the field 'typeRegistry'. So all is good... Just to test something I try inserting the line
private TypeMappingRegistryImpl _typeRegistry;
in the generated class, so that calls to _typeRegistry are directed at the local member.
Trying this approach (which is bound to mess everything up eventually) it seems like the code runs a little further before crashing, and I end up with the following exception in my tracelog: SAPNoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/engine/services/webservices/jaxrpc/wsdl2java/dynamic/DynamicInterface
And I've tried searching for this class but have not been able to find it anywhere. I do not think that really matters, because the first exception should never have happend in the first place.
So, all in all I am now at my wits end. I do not know what else to do than ask you people for guidance.

I have solved this now...
The solution is: Uninstall SP15, download and install SP16.
Installing SP16 might raise some new problems.. e.g. the administrator is now Administrator/abcd1234 instead of admin/admin ... And this must be manually changed in configtool.bat under secure store.. and the password for SDM should be changed from admin to abcd1234 too.... but that is another story
ps. all those things can be found around the forum.
