  • Creating Web Banners in InDesign CC

I need to create some static web banners.
They're a mixture of flat type/graphics, and mock photo collages with drop shadows.
InDesign is my strongest suit. Illustrator I'm decent. My Photoshop skills are lackluster.
Can I create them in InDesign CC, save as PDFs, open in Photoshop and Save for Web?
Alternatively can I just export them as JPGs from InDesign?
Is it better to create them in Illustrator?
Or do I need to buck up and learn to do them right in Photoshop?

I don't see a problem with using ID—it's certainly easier to set type there than in Photoshop. Guess it depends on the amount of type vs. image effects.
Just set the document up with web intent to the pixel dimensions you need for the banner. To get a same pixel dimension image version export to JPEG at 72ppi or to PDF and open as 72ppi.
If you are using OSX this AppleScript might be useful, opens the ID page as a layered Photoshop image:

  • Help with bitmaps in web banners

We have been doing a lot of web banners that incorporate
bitmap images (jpgs, gifs, pngs) but we are having trouble meeting
the size requirements of our intended sites. We have to compress
the images so much that they just look terrible and we still don't
make the requirements. Yet if you go on the web you see lots of
people making great ads with what appear to be fairly lightly
compressed images. How is this done? Any help would be greatly
    appreciated.
    Thanks

We do use rich media for some media placements, but most
placements have ad size in the 30KB range so it seems rather
difficult to meet those requirements and still preserve quality.
Here is a link to a banner I have using as a test:
    Banner
    test
That banner needs to be less that 35KB and to that is has to
look like that. I would like the animation of the woman to be at
least twice that size, but if insert jpgs at the size I am way over
the limit. Also I would like to have her up longer but that too
takes me way over the size. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Creating Web Banners in Keynote

In my opinion keynote is the ideal program to create web banners. Easy animations, flash export. What I am looking for is a workaround to create SMALL foil sizes as 235x61pixels.
The smallest size I was able to create was a heighth of 200 pixels.
Has anyone an idea how to build smaller sizes in keynote?
    Thanks!!

You can create a presentation that's the same ratio, and then embed it in the web page at the size you want. For example, creating a presentation that's 470 x 122 will give you the right ratio. For your embed, you still would enter 235 x 61 though.

  • Illustrator and Photoshop for creating web banners?

My company for years has worked with print products. We recently started creating web banners. We use Illustrator for the layout for print and Photoshop for the layout of web products. I have artists who dont see the difference between the two. They want to continue to create web banners in Illustrator. Or they want to export the Illustrator file into Photoshop with the layers. But, to export it this way it has to be cmyk. ugghhh. Can somebody please give me valuable reasons on what application is best and why? Thank you very much!

    >But, to export it this way it has to be cmyk.
    Not true.
Illustrator is "best" for vector. Photoshop is "best" for raster.
I would let your artists work in whatever program they feel they produce the "best" art. You should be able to quickly and easily develop a workflow around their needs. If you cannot, then you have your answer too.

If the document is RGB in Illustrator, then you can export layers to PSD. It shouldn't be a problem. I personally prefer Illustrator, but I do export to PSD and open in Photoshop if I wish to animate from there.

  • Flash for Web Banners

I am a newbie to Flash. I recently completed a video course
(well 80% of it). However, I realize that I have to actually start
on a project to really apply what I have learned (in other words
that's where the learning really starts through application).
I have to develop a couple of web banners for a client. Is
Flash the best program for this type of advertising?
    Thanks
    Sabryna

    absolutely!!

  • Muse web banners

I have created web banners in after effects, exported the swf file and placed them in a Muse site I am building. When I try to upload to my ftp it will not load. I am thinking that my banners are just too large of files. What should I do? I don't know how to make the files any smaller without losing detail and getting some ugly alising.
If I make the banners in Edge instead, I haven't figured out how to export them to import into Muse...

I just did the drag and drop , then I did embed the file when placing them in muse. My largest of the multiple swfs is 22.1 MB, huge I know, so how can I export that smaller without getting poor quality?

  • Rich media web banners in flex?

Our company is looking into developing rich media and/or expandable web banners. I'm pretty comfortable in Flex and was wondering is anyone has built web banners using Flex instead of Flash. Thanks.
    Ryan

Flex is a framework. Although the output of both Flash and Flex is a .swf file, if you build it using the Flex framework the output file embeds components (e.g. button, scrollbar, text field, canvas), which probably you will not need if your goal is to create a banner.
E.g. the smallest app built in Flex is ~ 170000 bytes.

  • Created 5 Web Banners - how would I be able to cycle them in a row?

    Hi All,
I created 5 animated banners, and I'd like to be able to cycle them in a row, one after the other.  I don't know if this is built-in - trigger multiple animations or something, or if I'd need to add some Javascript to an HTML page?  (They'll be going on a static webpage right now, if that helps.)
    Thanks!
    Jon

    Hi,
If you don't want write code:
    1) You save your 5 banners as symbol files. You use the export menu.
    2) You create a new file then you import your 5 symbols.

  • Is Edge the best software currently recommended for web banners?

Is Edge the best software for building and publishing a web banner ad?
The banner ad will include a link, some animation and possibly a video clip.

Do you actually have any idea how this works? Seems you have not. Sorry, but there is no nice way to say it. You have to research the topic more thoroughly...

  • How to creating a web banner in Flash CS3?

    Hi all,
I'm very new to Flash CS3. Can anyone give me a step-by-step
instructions on how to make a banner for a web-site? Or a link were
    i can find step-by-step instructions?
I have googled it but found no real help. I have tryed
"Youtube" hoping to even fine any one (most likely a child) with
directions on how to do this. Funny thing is that it seems most 8
year olds are better at Flash CS3 than I am & i'm 45.
Anyway, if you can help please make it simple or for the
    simple minded. :)
    Thanks to all!!
    BJ

I understand your pain...I just posted a similar request
earlier today for help but finally figured it out on my own. I've
done lots of searching online and used Adobe's Flash Classroom in a
Book and also took an online ed2go class and I still don't have a
good handle on Flash. Nothing seems to give clear step by step
directions on animating images for web banners. You just have to do
a lot of trial and error. These websites may help if you don't have
    time for the classes:

  • Newbie Flash Banners Help

First I am new to Flash and have mostly worked in PS.
I have created several animated banners in flash.  The file sizes are large.  I am trying to find a what is the best format and settings to use export these for upload into an website affiliate program (CJ).
I also want to know if I should have taken all of the media from PS and "saved for web" and stripped them down before I imported them to flash.  I was hoping that there was a setting in Flash that would do that but I am not sure if there is one.   The files for web banners are supposed to very small.  I am just trying to understand how I should have created them and also how to publish them.   I converted all of the images symbols thinking that would help. That did not.
Currently if I publish a gif they look horrible.  I know I doing something wrong, but I just direction. They look great in flash but I am stuck.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

    http://swf-head.blogspot.com/2009/09/flash-optimization-performance-vs-file.html
You should save for web out of PS. If they need transparency, use png. If they are simply rectangles, use jpgs (about 65 - 70% out of PS). Then in flash, in the library right click on your jpg and hit Properties, uncheck "Use Imported Bitmap Data" and change that percentage to what ever you like - the higher the number the larger file size, the lower number the worse quality.
Text in flash looks much better. Keep in mind that fonts can carry extra weight.
Ned and KGlad are also right, make the images the correct size out of PS first.
There is a lot that goes into optimization, read the link above, its only part of optimizing - the images part.

  • Web banner

I am about to create some web banners which I haven't done in a while. I have always used flash for this, but as I am much more comfortable working in After effects I was wondering if it can be done from there? Since it is not possible to export FLV's anymore, which formats are recommended?

You don't convert movies to HTML5. HTML5 is not a movie format. HTML5 is a language/format for web pages. If you need help learning how to make an HTML5 web page play an H.264 video, then I recommend asking on the Flash and/or Dreamweaver forums, where the web experts are.

  • Motion Graphics for the Web

Am looking for an alternative to Flash for web banners and exciting web page openers. Can Motion do web banners (I have Studio and am upgrading to Studio 2)? Is it practical? Are there any DVDs or books that discuss the topic?

This one is a good book, Apple Pro Training Series: Motion 3 but you will find no substitute Apple Motion workflow for Adobe Flash in it or elsewhere. Most internet-related things like web banners are better done in Adobe applications, Apple's are much more for broadcasting and film production. Two very different applications with very different purposes.
