Web-Based iTunes??

Other people must be facing this problem as well - I don't have a computer I can download iTunes on.
I have an older home computer that won't work with iTunes (windows millenium anyone?). The security and network guys are coming down on non-company software downloads on work machines, so I can't use my work laptop.
Is there a web based version of/alternative to iTunes that I can subscribe to?
Any ideas? Sure, I can use this as an excuse to buy a new home computer, but there's got to be a better way.
btw - My apologies if I'm in the wrong Forum for this, I'm a rookie.

Hey-
I want to download podcasts and buy music from the iTunes Music Store and load it all onto my iPod (30Gb, Video).
There must be a web site that will host my iTunes for me, don't you think?
Thanks

  • ITunes Web-Based or iTunes Match?

I'm sorry if this is not in the correct place. I searched for about an hour and did not find anything.
I have a really old ipod classic that i'm wanting to replace. My main issue in deciding between itunes and something like Amazon, is while I'm an Android user, I think music is best on an ipod, but I do not want to have to rely on iTunes.
We do not load iTunes on our workstations, and I have a seven year old workstation in our IT closet hanging onto its last breath just to run itunes. So here are my questions:
    1) Will the new itunes that i'm hearing about be web-based at all? I'm wanting to download music from my ipad or ipod from the store, and just have it available in itunes. But i DO NOT want to have to buy music or upload it through iTunes?
    2) Will iTunes Match in a way fix this? If i purchase iTunes match, can I now control all my music through match, or will i still have to have iTunes?
    3) I'm wanting a wifi ipod, but I really don't care for the ipod touch, mainly because it's like the iphone without the phone part. Are any other ipods wifi where I could purchase music through a wifi connect?
Please help. I'd love to stay with ipods, but like many people, i'm not wanting to hang onto iTunes, and i'd rather manage my music in the cloud in a web-based itunes or perhaps if itunes match could do this.
thanks in advance for your help!!
    Jason

I appreciate your professional and kind response, but alot of people feel that way. Especially the millions of people like me that like some of apples products, but feel that other devices might meet their needs better, or they might be in a work environment where PC or Android is more the norm.
Most other software is available web-based and I would have just thought this would have been a natural progression.
iTunes is a very resource heavy product, and people that enjoy the ipod and the benefits of iTunes, shouldn't be locked into having to download the huge program.
    Thanks again for your response.

  • Why does the latest version of ITunes change all of my web based icons to ITunes programs and all of my desktop icons to the ITunes icons?

when downloading itunes why all my web based programs change to itunes programs and all of the desktop icons change to itune icons?

That's because iTunes is registering itself as the default application to open those kinds of files. I believe you can stop that behavior when you install it. To revert a file type's default handler you need to select it and select "Get Info" from the File menu and change the settings under "Open with:" to your desired application.

  • Is there a web based (or iDisk) iTunes for allowing viewing of video files?

Is there a web based (or iDisk) iTunes type of program for allowing viewing of video files?
I would love to have this possibility to just drop all myhundreds of "musical ideas" movies in a folder/playlist like iTunes interface and have them available for viewing web based for musical co-writers & collaborators.
    Thanks

    Hi,
iTunes doesn't do Internet broadcast. I suggest you use iMovie to compress your files into and Internet file format. You can then use mobile me or YouTube to show your material over the Internet.
If you want to maintain more control over the material, you may want to set up a computer to become a server. That way you can give access codes only to persons you want to see the material.
I would look into mobile me if I was you. It sounds like you only need a small Internet presence to do what you want to do. And I think MobileMe would give you all the tools you need to distribute your material to those you want to see it. And it would do it at a very low cost.
    Good luck,

  • Is there a web based tech support?

Is there a web based tech support, or is the disscussion forum it? I need a tech to tell me why there is static in my burned itunes cds.I don't think I am the only one and we are all stumped.

"*Is there a web based tech support, or is the disscussion forum it?*", asked the user in the support forums.
*why there is static in my burned itunes cds*
Set your burn speed to a lower setting (iTunes prefs -> Advanced - Burning).
Also, make sure you CD/DVD burner firmware is up to date.

  • IPhone 5 unable to connect to internet or use web-based apps like Facebook or Tumblr

About two days ago, shortly after using my iPhone 5 to upload a picture of my son eating a donut to Facebook, I seem to have lost all ability to connect to the internet or update content on web-based apps like Facebook or Tumblr.  I tried to restore my iPhone in iTunes on my computer but could not do that without first turning of "Find My iPhone," in the iCloud section of my settings.  When asked to enter my password to turn off this feature the phone is "unable to connect to iCloud."  It doesn't seem to matter if I'm connected to WiFi or using my cell data - I'm getting a strong signal in either case, but the phone is unable to connect to anything.  I CAN make phone calls and send texts but that's just about it.
I recently updated to IOS 8.1.1 but it worked fine for several days before this problem started.  Any ideas?

I reset my network settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings) and rejoined my network, and that seemed to fix it. Apps are working on wifi and on data, and I can once again send imessages. Since I couldn't find a similar post very easily, I wanted to post this for whoever needs help with this problem ;D

  • I can get sound for files ON my laptop but have no sound when I try to watch Hulu  or use other web-based  programs

My MacBook Pro has sound for files housed on my laptop (ITunes for example) but if I try to watch a web-based program like Hulu or Khan Academy there is no sound.  How can I fix this?  I was using wireless headphones a few days ago and it all worked fine but then the sound stopped on both the headphones and the computer.  The video portion works fine, I just don't have any sound.  I threw away the headphones and deleted them from the Bluetooth on the Macbook Pro but still I have no sound.  Any ideas?

    1. System Preferences > Other/ Flash Player > Advanced >  Delete  All
         Press the "Delete All" button
      2. Install Adobe Flash Player.
        http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
       Download it first.
       The next step is important.
Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
Follow the prompts and install it.
        Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
    2.  Allow  Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Internet Plug-ins >  "Allow  plug-ins"
        Enable it.

  • Web-based podcast downloading

I've lost my internet connection at home so I can't get my podcasts via iTunes any more. Is there a way to get podcasts via a web-based route? I'm thinking that I could download them to my PC at work then copy them to a usb stick, take them home and transfer them to my mac that way. A bit convoluted I know but I can't install additional software on my office PC.
Alternatively, can I get podcasts emailed to me?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Following iPhone 2G update to OS 3.0.1, cannot use web or web based apps

I recently updated my iPhone and iTunes. iPhone is now running OS 3.0.1. I use o2 as my service provider.
I have had a few problems, all of which have been solved by these discussion forums, so I am hoping this final, highly annoying thing can be sorted.
I cannot access the web. If I enter Safari, a message pops up saying
"Could not activate cellular data network - you are not subscribed to a cellular data service"
Now, for a start, I'm not entirely sure what they mean - is it a problem with the phone or with O2?
I have a little circle next to the carrier name, which I believe (having gone through a troubleshoot on the Apple website) means I have a service of some kind, or my phone recognises a service?
(I'm not technically minded, can you tell!)
Obviously I have no web connection, so I cannot use any of my web based apps either, which is highly irritating.
I'd be really grateful if anyone can help. Thanks in advance.

Hi there. I too had this problem after upgrading an iPhone 2G from OS 2.1 to 3.0.1. I solved it by doing the following:
Select Settings > General > Network > Cellular data network and then change the Cellular data APN to: mobile.o2.co.uk (assuming you are an O2 customer). I think that resetting the network settings under Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings also works.
    Hope this helps.

  • Browser is no longer recognized by a web-based database after migration to FF17

    Hi,
When trying to access a web-based data base thta worked fine with FireFox 16, I now got message: "Your Browser is not supported" at the place where an image loaded via a plugin (ChemDraw plug-in 12.0.2.1076) should load. This worked perfectly with version 16 and the plugin is still in place and not declared incompatible by FireFox. How do I modify the way FireFox announces it-self to the web site so that it is not declared incompatible...

    Hi,
I tried and it works ! What I had to do was to downgrade to version 16, install the add-on, copy the configuration from there as a new User agent (which I called FireFox 16), then upgrade and then select the FireFox 16 user agent...
Amazingly enough, however, when checking the test (through the web site http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/features/test/ it says I have version 17 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0) aven though I selected my FireFox 16 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0).
I do not knwo exactly why the test does not work but the web site that needs FireFox 16 works ...

  • How to migrate from forms to web based application

    Hi,
I did a form for Oracle applications, but client need a web based form for this application how can i migrate this to web based form. If it is possible can u give me suggestion how migrate.
    Kishore B

Not sure if that's possible, as developing forms for Oracle Applications requires the use of TEMPLATE.fmb to start with, and the use of certain standards to adhere to the look and feel of the applications. Review the Oracle Applications Developer's guide for more details.
What You may do now is to upload the form to the Application Server and compile it to the adequate directory $PRODUCT_TOP/forms/[LANG], register the form, associate to a function and use it in a menu to see it trough Oracle Applications standard interface, but it may show a very different L&F and not all standard functionality may be available. With the Dev Guide's on hand, apply required changes and test Your form in the application.

  • Conversion of forms5.0 to web based application

    dear folks,
i have an existing application which runs on forms 5.0. i want to
convert it to a web based application. i do not want to rewrite
the scripts.if some of you could tell me the details about how to
    go about it.

I am not sure if there is any tool to do that.
You can delete WebSphere specific xml files from ear/jar and open it in Weblogic's builder tool. Weblogic Builder is a GUI tool. Helps you assign values for deployment parameters, Transaction attributes, JNDI names and so on. Then you can generate deployment descriptors. Subsequently you can modify the descriptors as and when you want.

  • Migrate from GUI to web based application

what's the easy and the fast method to migrate java GUI application to a web based aplpication.
    thanks in advance for information

There is no simple or easy or fast way if the application were not properly designed.
Does it follow the Model-View-Controller pattern? If it does, your migration path is easier. If it is the typical app (the button listener method does it all), the migration path is not.
I guess that you will have to redesign the app and reuse only very specific parts of your code, like formulae calculations.
Code is cheap, analysis and testing are not.

  • Client/Server to Web-Based application Conversion

    Hi! Everyone,
I have couple of questions for you guys.
Our Client had recently upgraded Forms 4.5 to 6i to move from Client/Server based application to Web based application.
They are using Forms Server 6i Patch Set 1, OAS 4.0.8.1, Windows NT Service Pack 5 and Oracle 7.3. They are facing the following error every now and then, when they run the forms,
"FRM-92100: Your connection to the server was interrupted. This may be the result of a network error or a failure on the server. You will need to re-establish your session."
Please let me know what might be causing the above error. The only problem i can think about might be Oracle 7.3. If i am right only Oracle 8 and above supports Forms 6i.
Can anyone let me know some tips and/or techniques to upgrade Forms 4.5 to 6i. If there are any important settings/steps which we might have over looked during the upgrade, please list them.
Any kind of help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
