Web based or web enabled

Hi,
Lot of our clients are requesting us to give them information regarding if we are web-based or web-enabled. My question is
1. If I am using oracle forms/reports/discoverer 10g and running it over the web with Oracle application server is that web-based or web-enabled
2. What is the difference between web-based and web-enabled
3. Is speed a factor?
Thanks
Munish

Hi,
I don't see a real diference. Web enabled would be appropriate to Forms and Reports 6i that could run on client-server and web.
Now that they are all web only, the distinction is gone and they are web based (if not you will continue calling everything "web enabled" that isn't built with J2EE, PHP etc.)

  • Is Forms10g web based or web enabled ?

    Hello every body.
I want to know if Oracle Forms10g is web based or web enabled ?
BTW: what is the difference between both terms ?
    Yours

Web enabled means the application is available through web as well as a desktop sw.
Ex: Forms 6i. It can both as a desktop client (i.e, requires some sort of installation / setup in the client machine ). It can also be deployed on the web as well.
Web Based means: It is completely available only through a browser and not available in other ways.
    10gs is Web Based.
    I hope it helps.

  • How to create the web based report without enterprise portal?

    Hi experts,
We don't have enterprise portal but I like to create the web based version of the existing Bex reports and which option is the best to distribute this web based report using information broadcasting?
Can I use report designer for this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sharat.

    Hi Sharat
In BI 7.0 the Queries which u devoleped can be broad casted by using two ways .
    1. Enterprise portal
    2.Web Application Designer(WAD)
So you can choose any of the option, For the Option 1 you should have seperate server for the EP or else For option 2 you have to make some setting in the BI system to enable the Web reports..

  • Got error message with web based application that it would only work on MS Explorer 6.0 or newer. Any work around for this?

When accessing a web based program I got a message that it could only be accessed using MS Explorer 6.0 or newer. Is there a work around for this?

There is a way to do this.
But it works or not, I have no idea.
    Enable  "Develop menu".
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click the Develop menu and select "User Agent"
There are choices. Do not forget to make Safari default again afterwards.

  • H.264 Web based Encoder Demo

    Hi,
before some weeks ago i red a newsletter that adobe has include a h.264 encoder in FP 11.
Well, here we go i thought and start to develope a web based h.264 encoder for our CDN. Here is a first version that i want to share with you developers.
    Onlinelib Web Encoder Version 0.2:
    http://onlinelib.de/labs.html
Please do not use this in serious projects. You will need also a RTMP Server for testing and of course a web-player. I will include a player option inside the encoder for internal testing.
There are a lot of features missing, but the basic h.264 encoding is working on my Mac Pro and our CDN.
What i found out during the development:
Please correct me if i post something wrong.
    Contra:
    - AAC Encoding for Audio is missing. Without AAC we cant product ipad / iphone compatbile streams. Flash iOS cross-compiler supports CPU native speex decoding, same for nellymoser, but you cant mix them cause native h.264 decoding in iOS is also not working and you cant send the iOS native quicktime player a bytearray for decoding h.264.We can have access to the raw micro data, but its useless cause you cant transmux the packets to the camera stream. I think a native AAC encoder in AS3 or alchemy is possible but without more access to the encoder its useless.
    - No Stereo Encoding. That is really a big minus point. I study all docs and cant find if its possible to encode 2 channels.
    - No access to compressed frames for video or audio. Without getting access to the compressed frames we cant use HTTP streaming, packing for the new HTTP protocol that is accessable sinse FP 10.1. In times of hacks and security its important that we developer can protect our streams with own encryption technologies. Not possible right now. RTMP(e) is a option, but this encryption is really useless (my 2 cent mind). A DES is stronger than the hole RTMP(e).We also are not able to calculate our own bandwidth alogs.
    - I thought that adobe will include VP8 Encoder / Decoder in FP11. I hope they will do this.
    Pro:
    - I think the encoder is based on MainConcept SDK, works for me. Baseline and Main is fast enought toDo realtime. I cant find a way to set motionVectors, bframes that can be used in mainprofile. I saw that in some level(s) profile h2.64 the encoder makes some strange colorspace effects (false colors).
-We can change cameras, micro, bitrate, fps during a streaming-sessions. That´s cool and not possbile with Flash Media Desktop (FME) Encoder. You have to disconnect the FME first, then set the changes re-connect again.
    - p2p is also working and you can mix server and p2p. We port the rtmfp protocol to an embedded device:
    http://walyou.com/img/world-smallest-pc-space-cube-4.jpg
The p2p option in the public encoder is not useable cause adobe has patent-rights on the rtmfp protocol. If i have time i will inlcude a cirrus service.
    Best,
    Gary
    http://onlinelib.de

Thanks for the input. What do you mean by encoding it as H.264 not mp4 - which setting affects that?
    Maybe I already has it?
here is what I have now:
    Video compression setting
    Compression type: H.264
    Frame rate: current fps
    Key frames: every 24 frames
    Frame Reordering: Yes
    Compressor quality: High
    Encoding: Best Quality (Multi-pass)
Data rate: Restrict to 800 kbits/sec
    Optimized for: Download
    Sound
    Format: AAC
    Channels: mono
    Rate: 44.1 kHz
    Show advanced setting: yes
    Render setting:
    - quality: normal
MPEG 4 AAC LC Encoder Settings:
    - Encoding stratey: Average bit rate
    - Target bit rate: 96 kbps
    Inspector panel
    File format: Quicktime Movie
    Extension: mp4
    Allow job segmenting: yes
    Video setting: Enabled
    Audio setting: enabled

  • X Pro and Flash Player Error with web-based PDF readbook

Everytime I try to view a web-based PDF book (with multiple PDF files) I get an error/alert that reads:
"To View the Flash technology content in this PDF file, please install this version of Flash Player that supports Adobe Reader and Acrobat."
    I am currently using:
    IE Explorer 9.0.8112.16421
    Adobe Reader X 10.1.7
    Adobe Acrobat X Pro 10.1.4
    Shockwave 12.0.2 Development
I have all of the appropriate settings enabled/disabled in the browser. Before I installed Adobe Acrobat Pro the files opened perfectly in IE9. I believe, but am unsure, that I was just using Reader X at that point.
Of note...the PDF books in question still open perfectly if I DOWNLOAD the file and open it from the desktop. The issue is when I try to view it in the browser(a setting enabled in the preferences). This is an issue because I don't have the time or space to download these files and need to view them in the browser for efficiency.

You would usually get this message if you don't have the Flash Player plugin installed.  However I do not quite understand why you get that message when viewing a PDF in the browser, but not when viewing it from your local disk.

    Hi Arun Kumar,
Below the grayed out “Form” authentication type, is there a message with a link about how to enable Forms Based Authentication in claims mode?
You should perform the following PowerShell script to convert the existing web application to claim based authentication.
    $w = Get-SPWebApplication "http://<server>/"
    $w.UseClaimsAuthentication = 1
    $w.Update()
    $w.ProvisionGlobally()

  • WPA Security, Crashing OS, Locked out of Web-Based Setup Page. AAAaaarrrrrrgggg!

I tried several times to enable WPA security on my WMP54GS router by using the "Secure Easy Setup" button in the Wireless Network Monitor Panel. I pressed the lighted Cisco logo on the router as directed, I clicked on the "next" button on screen, and Windows crashed. (That is, my system rebooted and Windows reported that it had recovered from a serious error.)  I am running XP. I also tried to enable security using the router’s web-based setup page.  I followed the instructions, and a new web screen appeared stating "error on page."  I tried again to enable security using the web-based setup page, but now it won't let me in using the default password (admin).  I tried resetting the router by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds, but I still cannot access the web-based setup page. Sooooooo, I'm out of ideas.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

    Hi
When configuring your wireless settings, use a wired computer and not a wireless computer. Because it will not be able to apply the new settings. Its like trying to troubleshoot a automobile malfunction while you are driving the car itself.

  • WRT54G V8 Can't connect to web based setup page?

Earlier I reset my router and was able to use 192.168.1.1 to visit the web based setup page while trying to re-establish a home network now that I have a new computer using Windows 7 which can not use the easylink advisor. I was able to get on the page to update my SSID and WEP key. But when my wireless devices were still having problems connecting to the internet I tried to go back to the page and found that I can't get it to connect, though my desktop is able to connect to other internet sites just fine.
Does anyone know what i can be doing wrong? I am using Verizon DSL. I was able to ping the router and all tests showed that it was connected fine, yet I still cannot get on the setup page and my laptop still can't connect to the network. I have tried resetting the router again, and still nothing. And yes, I have gone through numerous power cycles. I also tried going though the network map on my computer, but the computer says it was unable to create a map for it even though at the time I had it listed as a Home network.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Wireless connections to 192.168.1.1  often fail.  When accessing the router setup pages, always use a computer that is wired to the WRT54G.
If the above does not solve your problem, then here are my other tips for viewing the router setup pages:
You do not need an Internet connection. The router's "web pages" are built into the router.
Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Use a computer that is wired to the router.
In the non-working computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall.
Point your browser to 192.168.1.1 , then login to your router. Your user name should be left blank. Your password is "admin" (with no quotes), unless you changed it.
If you are using Zone Alarm, right click on the ZA icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen) and then click "Shutdown ZoneAlarm", and see if this fixes your problem. If this does not work, try the following with Zone Alarm: Open the ZAISS control center, go to Privacy, then temporarily turn off Ad Blocking and Cookie Control, and see if that fixes your problem.
Some Zone Alarm users have reported that adding 192.168.1.1 to their list of "trusted" addresses fixed the problem. This trick might also work with other firewalls.
If you are using Noton Internet Security with the Add-on Pack, be sure to turn off the Pop-up Blocker, and the Ad blocker. Some users have reported that they needed to uninstall the entire Norton Add-on Pack.
If you cannot get anything at 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not your router's address. Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Look at the "Default Gateway". Is it 192.168.1.1 ? Point your browser to the "Default Gateway", then login to your router.
If the above fails, disconnect your modem from the router, and try again. If this corrects your problem, then most likely you have a "modem-router" rather than an ordinary modem. Report back with this problem, and also state the make and exact model number of your modem (not the router).
If all of the above fails, power down your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait one minute, then power up and try again.
If all of the above tips fail, then reset the router to factory defaults: Power down the router and disconnect all wires from it. Wait one minute. Power up the router, allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes), then press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release the button and allow the router to reset and reboot ( 2-3 minutes). Power down router. Wait one minute. Connect one computer, by wire, to a LAN port on the router. Boot up system.  The router should work, but you will need to setup your router again from scratch.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
If you still have trouble, then you need to download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware for your router. After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

  • Urgent ..How to use Tree component in a web based interface

I want to make a Java web based windows explorer type interface.
For that i want to use tree component .
Is it possible for me to do this.
Can anybody suggest me how to do ?

    Hi,
I assume you plan to do this in a browser and you plan to use JTree. When using an applet, you'd have to make sure that the latest Java Plug-In is available on the client.
If you not plan to use JTree, you could use a Tree component which is not based on swing such as the one at http://www.calcom.de/eng/dev/cctree.htm
In this case still the browser would have to be 'Java enabled' by any kind of plug-in
