  • Losing right edge of page in web browser

I am running into a problem displaying a pdf file in a web browser.  The problem is that the far right edge of one of the pdf's 11 pages gets cut off when the pdf is opened in a web browser.
The one page that is losing its right-hand edge is wider than the other 10.
This problem happens in Adobe Reader version 8 and version 9.  It happens when opening the pdf with FireFox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer.
Is there a property that I need to set that will cause the horizontel scroll bar to appear for pages that are wider than the browser window?
    Thanks.

The best approach is to remove all positioning, top, left and z-indexes.
Use CSS margins, padding and floats to align elements on the page.
While you learn CSS, you might find it easier to start with a pre-built CSS layout that has all the columns and containers you will need for your project.  Then it's a simple matter of inserting images and text into your layout.

  • Gnome not recognising Ice Cat as web browser

I've installed a few days ago Ice Cat and I wanted to use it as my default web browser, the only problem is it doesn't appear in my settings as a browser.
I already made a .desktop file for it specifying it was a web browser and adding a %U to the Exec=appPath line and created the proper Mime files according to the Wiki.
The only thing I did different is that instead of being logged in as a user I'm always root (I know, not a great idea) so I used /usr/share/mime instead of ~/.local/share/mime but there shouldn't be any issues.
Does anyone know why could this be?

I don't want to beat a dead horse, but hopefully can clarify a point: most users will tell you that running X as root is bad; there is truth to that, but it is not some mystical rule.  Other users who really know what they are doing chose to run X as root.  But in neither case would someone run something as root simply because it doesn't work as a regular user.
    $ command
    Some unrecongnized error
    $ sudo command
That is a recipe for disaster.  If something doesn't work as you expected, learn about that thing, don't just hit it with a bigger hammer.  If something goes horribly wrong when running some new command as a regular user, you can fix it.  If something goes horribly wrong when running a new command as root, your only hope is that full system backup you just made.
As for the settings menu - is it supposed to show up there?  Doesn't the menu need to be configured to show what you want? How does the menu work, from where does it gather information for it's entries (I don't really know, I don't use gnome).

  • HT1338 Web browser crash and freeze

Every time I use the web browser no matter Safari or Mozilla Firefox, it always crash and stop responding that I have to force quit. This happens since the very first day that I've used this Macbook Pro. I've just bought it for less than 2 months. Some videos such as Mac basics on the Apple.com website can't be played. I've went to the iStudio and have it checked and they said they've done a reset and this might help, but when I came back home and start using the web browser, the same problem occurs. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to fix this problem? Thank you

  • Web browser is not displaying the right font style which I have chosen in Dream weaver

    Hello frnds,
I am new to Dream weaver, I dont know much about dream weaver, I am just designing one  for my personal use,
I have a problem with font.
I was downloading nice font style from website and I was using that in dream weaver, When I open the browser on the same computer where I have dreamweaver on, it is fine but when I try to open it with a different computer, I cant see my style font, instead of that I can see a different font, like a standard, or default font..
    Some one please help me,,,

That is because the custom 'nice' font you're downloading to your computer is not available on other computers.
To overcome this problem, you should embed your font file as a 'Web Font' in your CSS.
You can use 'Google Webfonts API' to choose from one of many available fonts you can use through Google's CDN. Here's the link: http://www.google.com/webfonts
You have instructions on how to embed this to your webpage once you visit the URL mentioned above.
If you want to use your own Custom Font file, there may be a few limitations. You should ensure you are not violating a copyright by using a custom font on your website. Fonts have licenses too just like softwares. Some fonts can be used on the web. Others cant. You should read your font license document to find out if you can use the font on the web. Dont take this lightly. You may be getting yourself in big trouble if the font developer finds out you're using their font on your site without licensing them.
Once you're sure you're not going to be violating a copyright, visit http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface/generator and upload your 'nice' custom font there. Fontsquirrel will generate a 'webfont file' for this font and give it to you that you can download. Font squirrel will also give you instructions on how to use/ embed this code into your website for custom fonts to be visible.
    Trust this helps.

  • Using AIR as a Custom Web Browser

    Hi,
I am trying to use Adobe AIR as a web browser that is locked
down to just our application that I can deploy to our clients.
However, I have run across a few problems, the first one is to do
with popup windows in the application.
For example, if I create a new
named window using JavaScript like this:
    window.open('', 'foo');
Then if I later try to submit an HTML form with
foo as the target window, I get a second popup window
appearing. The call to window.open appears to ignore the window
name. Is there something I need to do to enable the standard
behaviour in this case so that the original popup window is used as
the target of the form submission?
Also, is there a way to disable popup blocking if a popup is
generated on page load, rather than as a direct result of a user
    action?
    Thanks,
    Jason

    quote:
    @Jason,
Setting the target in a link or a form should just work. Are
both the caller and the target in the same domain? I wouldn't
expect that a window in a remote domain would be able to change the
location of a window in the application sandbox.
Yes, both the caller and the target are in the same domain.
I have discovered that it works correctly if I do not use a
custom HTMLHost class. I was originally using a very basic
implementation of the HTMLHost class that I copied from the
documentation to try to fix another problem I was having. Could
this be a general problem with subclassing HTMLHost?
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Typekit Web font problem - only in PC browers

Hi. We have developed a site in Muse using a particular font from Typekit. The font in question is 'Quicksand'.
When we publish the site onto BC for viewing, on a Mac (Safari & Chrome browsers) the font shows fine, and on iPhone/iPad too. When we view it on a PC (IE8, Chrome, Firefox) it is either very feint (Chrome) or almost totally illegible and distorted (IE8 & Firefox).
We changed the font to another from Typekit on one particular page and the problem was solved.
Not fancying changing all the text, menus etc etc on the whole site, any ideas what could cause one particular font to not work like this?
    Many thanks
    Nathan

I'm having the same Muse Web Font problem. Web Fonts are beautiful in Design Mode but when in Preview Mode they're a mess. When I publish they render like in Preview Mode, a mess. They display incorrectly when viewing on a PC from any browser I've tried: IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera. They look great on my iPhone but I don't have another Mac OS device from which to view. This happens with ALL Web Fonts.
Please see samples: 1) Muse Design Mode. 2) Muse Preview Mode. 3) Firefox PC. 4) iPhone.
The text displayed in images 1 and 4 is crisp but in images 2 and 3 is pixelated and misshapen. Can someone explain what's causing this and offer a solution?
    Thanks,
    ~Bob

  • I turn on my computer, click on the Firefox icon on my desktop, the web browser appears but the same screen always appears and says, "Well this is embarrassing" and says the problem is due to a previously opened tab.

I am online everyday. I turn on my computer and click on the Firefox icon. A web browser appears but not with my Yahoo! homepage. Instead of seeing my Yahoo! homepage I see a screen that says, "Well this is embarrassing." I read that the problem is due to a recently opened tab. It gives me the options of either restoring all previously used tabs from the last time of use or starting a new session. If I choose to restore previous tabs, I am further given the option to select which tabs I want restored and which ones I don't want to restore. I always choose to start a new session because all previous tabs consist of work that I have completed in the past (whether it be yesterday or the day before). I, therefore, have no interest in restoring a tab that contained an article about our current economic situation for example. As previously stated, I choose to start a new session every time I receive the "Well this is embarrassing" error message. When I choose this option, I am brought to a fresh tab with no information regarding work, articles, or entertainment from yesterday or some time in the past. I wish to have an explanation as to why this happens. I do not go on any malicious web sites or anything of the sort. This happens every single day. The automatic error message that appears is "Well this is embarrassing." For Firefox to say "Well this is embarrassing" is not close to the response it should give.

  • When I start mozilla firefox web browser, sometimes I see a message saying that "a Mozilla Firefox is already running, please close it or restart your program", while I don't have one running at that time. What is the problem?

When I start mozilla firefox web browser, sometimes I see a message saying that "a Mozilla Firefox is already running, please close it or restart your system". As a matter of fact, there is no firefox browser running at that time. Since I cannot do anything about it, I have to restart my computer before I can use the web browser, which bothers me dearly. What is the problem?

Plug-in and tasks started by Firefox may continue after attempting to close Firefox. The "X" in the upper right-hand corner closes the Window (same as Ctrl+Shift+W) but even if it is the last Firefox window, it does not necessarily close Firefox .
'''The only proper way to exit Firefox is to use Exit through the File menu''', not the "X" in the upper right corner of last Firefox window.
''Menus hidden: then use Alt+F then X.''

use to close and restart Firefox after enabling or disabling an extension, switching
to a new theme, or modifying configuration files, then you don't have to worry
about delay or have to look in the Task Manager to see if Firefox is closed yet.
Uses keyboard shortcut "'''Ctrl+Alt+R'''" or a file menu option.
'''Windows 7''' users can use '''Ctrl+Shift+Esc''' to get to the Windows Task Manager quicker than starting with Ctrl+Alt+Del.

  • The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again.OK. I followed the instruction and the problem still persists.

I got the following pop-up when I tried to open an online PDF file:
The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser.
Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again.
I tried many time, and it really doesn't work.
The plug-in I have is Adobe Acrobat 8.3.0.280

After I upgraded to Firefox 5, I had the same problem and I did a work around temporarily. I went the tools menu, then Add-ons, then clicked the "Plugins" on the left side (4th one down). I "disabled" both Adobe Acrobat 8.3.0.280 and Adobe Acrobat 10.1.0.536 using the disable buttons on the right side. PDF files now open again. However they are outside the actual browser.
My guess is that Adobe didn't catch up yet with a new update to work with Firefox or vice versa.
    Hope that helps!
