Web Browser Management Connection Refused

Since upgrading from my old Panther PowerBook to my new Tiger one, I have lost the ability to manage my Netgear router and my HP network printer via Safari. Strangely, my Netgear router at home actually works better (I used to have to go back into OS9 to change settings as Panther didn't work at all), but the devices on the corporate network at work don't seem to like Tiger. I get this message:
(111) Connection refused
I don't really now how to troubleshoot this...
Oh, and it's the same with other people's Tiger Macs - and from 10.4.3ish on.
Thanks!

I don't think it can be that simple because it is consistent across more than one machine and it doesn't work from Firefox either (just checked that).
I think it must be to do with being on the corporate network, so I need to know what might have changed in the Mac OS that would cause this issue. I recently lost the ability to access the Exchange server, which turned out to be due to a change in Mail's SOCKS access under 10.4.7 (fine under 10.4.6). Something similarly obscure (to me) could be causing this other issue, but I've no idea what...

  • SMC 3.6 Web console login - Connection refused

    Hi Folks,
I have recently installed SMC 3.6 on a Solaris 5.8 machine with Sun Blade 100 platform. The installation and setup were completed successfully and the web server was started without any hiccups. But when I enter my username and password, it throws the error connection refused. The user name that I am using is included in /var/opt/SUNWsymon/cfg/es-users file.
    Thanks in advance.

Please note that the user you create must be an actual UNIX user. To add a user:
    # useradd anilhs
    # passwd anilhs
You may also want to add the anilhs user to the various Sun MC groups in /etc/group:
    For example, for admin priviledges:
    esadm::root,anilhs
    esdomadm::root,anilhs
If further problems persist, can you create an esmaster Unix user and try logging in using "esmaster". It is the default super user account for Sun MC.
    cheers,
    bobby

When i check with netstat it does seem that port 3201 is not in use (although it suppose to be used by enserver.exe).
I've checked the config tool parameters java parameters with another working BW java portal - they match.
Does anyone have a clue ?
    Thx

    Hi,
You should override SecurityManager.checkConnect(String host, int port) to implement your own procedure for checking the ip address from the client.
If you have the JDK source, then take a look at the implementation of ServerSocket.implAccept(Socket s) and you'll see how the JDK currently checks wether a connection is allowed or not.
    Hope this helps,
    Kurt.

  • Web browsing, internet connection slow slow slow

My wireless internet connection is extremely slow. It is surely a Leopard problem. My PC works perfectly on the same wireless network. I called apple support and they concentrated on the airport (FRUSTRATING!!! THE PC WORKS 100%%%!!!!)
Since I installed Leopard my Mac is virtually unusable (not exaggeration!). I average 40-50 seconds per page. It just sits there with the circle thing spinning and spinning and spinning.
Does anybody have this problem? If so how do we get Apple's attention?
Can I revert back to Tiger until this is fixed? Does anybody know how to do that?

I was having the same issue and after reading these threads I took a look at my network settings. For some reason Leopard picked up my router as a DNS server. My router, while supplying my ISP's DNS servers to me via DHCP, is not a DNS server itself. I started to play and here is what I came up with to fix my problem.
Go to Network Settings in Preferences and take a look at your current settings. If your local router is listed first in the DNS settings, followed by what is most likely your ISP DNS servers then write down the DNS IP addresses, manually delete them and then re-add just the ISP addresses.
I was able to do this on the front page of my "Ethernet" connection in Network Settings. If you are wireless what I did was I had to go to the Advanced section and manually add just the two DNS entries in on the DNS tab. For some reason it would not let me remove the old DNS entries on this page but I put in the duplicate ISP ones anyway and it still fixed the problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • Could not web-browsing via my N95

Last night, when I try to use my N95 for web-browsing via wireless network, I discovered that whatever how many times I try to click on the "world icon" from my cell, it can't show up the web-browsing mode anymore.
Eventually, I hv tried to switch off my cell, and re-start it again. But still, the problem is still here.
So does anyone have this experience before? Or the only way to fix this problem is update the firmware to V12?
    Thanks

What kind of VPN software are you using on your Nokia N73 phone?
Chances are that you are using:
    - SymVPN from www.telexy.com
    - or NCP VPN from www.ncp-e.com
    - or Nokia Mobile VPN (mVPN) from www.nokia.com
I am successfully using SymVPN on Nokia 5800 for Web browsing, MailForExchange, connecting Intranet and making VoIP calls over VPN.
About your problem with WEB browsing over VPN connection. I saw a comment in FAQ section for SymVPN, saying that for some Nokia phones and firmware versions, users need to make some kind of refresh for web page after first usage of standard WEB browser with VPN connection, after that all should be fine. Probably this trick will work for you too.
Couple weeks ago I have tried Opera Mini over VPN and didn't notice any problem.
On Nokia 5800 I can access VPN Access Point via Destination folder where I keep my VPN connections created in SymVPN. I guess there is no Destinations on your Nokia N73 and VPN Access Point should be available for selection in the same place where regular Access Points are.

    I'm having a similar issue.
Did a fresh install of 11.2.0.1.0 under Windows 2003 - latest updates - IE 8.
I can access Enterprise Manager from other computers - but not from the local server.
    I've tried both: https://oracle.xxxx.xxx:1158/em and https://localhost:1158/em
Both give me the generic "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" - but if I access from another computer it comes up - so I know everything is working...

  • How to access solaris management console from web browser??

    Hi,
I am running Sol9 with the latest patches. The console gui freezes every time I try to admin NIS users in my NIS toolbox. It used to work but now it doesn't. I need to access this thing from a web browser if that's possible since there is no console that I can install on my windows laptop that can connect to the server.
Can this be done?? I can't find any info on docs.sun.com on what URL and port to use.
I did find something that says there is a /usr/sadm/bin/smcwebserver but it does not exist on any of my machines.
    Help?? Please???
    Thanks,
    Tom

On my machine, when I point my browser to http://<hostname>:898 (the management server port) I get a nice message telling me that a web version of the Solaris Management Console is not currently available. Running the console tells me I'm running v2.1 which is what came out of the box.
I think the webserver component you refer to only ships with v3.0 and later. You can go to http://wwws.sun.com/software/solaris/sunmanagementcenter/index.html and download a base version for free to check it out.
By the way, I don't use a remote console to manage remote servers. It's too clunky. My solution for running the SMC remotely is to start an XServer on my laptop, telnet to the Sun host, su - root, set DISPLAY=<mylaptop>:0 and then run smc directly from the host. As long as there's no firewall blocking port 6000 between you and your host, you should be OK. This should be straightforward if you've run any graphical X apps before.
However, I don't administer NIS and my laptop is a Mac. Your mileage may vary considerably.

  • Management console connection refused

When I tried to use the management console to connect to JRockit on another
machine, I got the error at the end of this email. I downloaded a
license, the application is definitely running and listening on 7091. Could
someone provide some insight into this error?
    Thanks

  • Why does refreshing my web browser page increment the number of users connected to my Remote Front Panel?

    Hi,
I'm using LabVIEW 2010 and a cRIO-9118 to broadcast my RT Front Panel on the web with a Web Server.
I successfully configured the web server to be able to control my Front Panel remotely. However, I have an issue with "Refreshing" the browser.
When I press "Enter" to search the adress of the web server, the number of users connected seems to increment by one and then tells me that "Too many users are connected to the front panel". Once this has been done, the only way to "unlock" the web server is to reboot the cRIO.
Is there any solution to avoid this behavior?
My current web browser is Internet Explorer 8.
    Thank you
    Mathieu Veillette, Ing Jr.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Mathieu,
Unfortunately, there currently isn't a very good solution for the problem you are facing. It seems like this is a known issue that R&D is working on. It so happens that in addition to simply refreshing, this issue also occurs if you try to access the Remote Front Panel using a second tab in a tabbed browser. One "fix" would be to invest in a higher count Remote Front Panel license. If that's not feasible, then the current recommendation would be to avoid connecting to the Remote Front Panel from a second tab or refreshing the view in your browser. Once you exceed the number of connections to the Remote Front Panel, you will have to restart the RT controller -- there isn't a way to change this default behavior. You can track any fixes by R&D by keeping note of the CAR (corrective action request) ID for this issue, which is #202702.
