Web Browser Plugin

I have an applet that uses Swing, but when I try to run it on my web browser, I get a ClassNotFoundException
for JTextField.
What should I do about that?

Did you install JRE? You may need Java plug-in.

  • Where is documentation about Adobe Reader web-browser plugin API?

When Adobe Reader is chosen as plugin to open PDF's inside a web-browser it reacts to some javascript commands in the web page that hosts the <object> tag like "goToPage" or similar. I would like to know which other javascript commands (and events: something like "onPageChanged", for example) are available. Where can I find documentation?
    Thanks

Microsoft hasn't updated its Windows Media Player plugin for Firefox for a while, so 3-year-old documentation may be current. I recommend using MSDN as a resource, and particularly articles indicating which features work in Firefox.
You also can work out development issues on a forum more focused on that, the unofficial [http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=25 mozillaZine Web Development board]. It's a separate site (with separate registration).

  • JMF web browser plugin

    Hi everybody,
This question is about JMF and applet, but i dont want to post in other sub-forums because its not likely to get any reply there.
Ok, so i have Java plugin installed for my browser, and JMF as well. Running the test at
    http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/jmfdiagnostics.html
show that everything is alright (JMF Version ... 2.1.1e; All Java Build; and Native Libraries Found).
I have created an applet implementing in JMF. But when ever the applet being loaded, it also sends a request for the file RTPSessionMgr.class (which is in jmf.jar) and the server throws exception.
The applet shouldn't be asking for that file, should it ? So what's going wrong here ?
I've also been thinking of making the server to send both jmf.jar and the requested applet; but haven't tried; because the jmf.jar file is not very small (about 1.7Mb)
    Please help me.
    Many thanks.

Basic design feature of applets: if the applet needs to load other classes, it has to load them from the server. You do not install them on every single client the applet is run on, you just put them on the server and set the "archive" attribute of the <applet> tag to refer to those jar files.
The size of the jar files has nothing to do with this design feature. If they are large then they will take a while to load. That's just the way it is.
I don't do applets but I am sure this basic question would have been answered in the Applets forum.

  • No Quicktime player controls in web browser plugins

When using the Quicktime plugin under Firefox or Internet Explorer I do not get any player controls (play/pause, progress, volume etc). All that displays is a black bar where the control bar should be.
I am running the latest version of Quicktime player (downloaded it yesterday). I am using Firefox 3 RC2 and Internet Explorer 7.
Please advise how I can get the player controls to work, because as you can imagine, its pretty hard to play videos/sounds without them.

I have seen similar problems on latest QuickTime v7.5.5 on Vista SP1 64bit platform... when viewing Lynda.com training videos under IE v7 and Firefox v3.02/v3.03. Specifically, the controls are not visible and/or do not work properly (eg reset to start when click on mid-point of timeline) and other times the video blanks out in windowed of full-screen mode with no suspend or power issues... and I am forced to restart QuickTime for video to re-display. The video controls in windowed mode also sometimes do not work.
I found the solution was to change the ADVANCED settings of the QUICKTIME player...
Open Quicktime 7 player... but do not open any content.
Click on Edit tab and go to Preferences, then click on Quicktime Preference.
On window that opens, click on the Advanced tab
You will see a selection under VIDEO heading for Safe Mode (GDI only) or Direct X.... click on Safe mode (GDI only)
Then click on Apply, then OK.
Restart Quicktime and play a movie to test it.
For me, this resolved all my problems... even though had latest DirectX installed. I hope this helps in your case!

  • Hand tool in web browser Adobe Reader plugin

    Hi all,
I want ask if is possible, to always start Adobe Reader web browser plugin with hand tool. I want open documents on web page and user have only touch screen. Is possible to setup Reader to do it?
    Thanks
    Martin

    Hey Yury_Vitovsky,
Google has moved out of NPAPI plugin support  not  Adobe, so Google Chromium team will be able to provide you a better answer for it.  And yes it will be working fine with other web browsers like IE, Firefox etc.

  • Programatically pushing toolbar button in web browser

Hi all, I've got a tool going via a c++ plugin. Pushing the tool button and using it works well in Acrobat, including inside an internet explorer browser window acrobat plugin.
What i'm trying to do now is activate the tool programatically by sending a command over DDE from another application. The call i'm using is: AVAppSetActiveTool , which is the call that gets used when you push the button manually.
This works when running in a standalone Acrobat, but the AVAppSetActiveTool seems to have no effect when the document is loaded in a web browser.
I'm wondering what to do to get this working?? i've tried making the browser AVWindow a 'key' window as well as bringing it to the front with no avail.
Is there some magic I need to do before I call AVAppSetActiveTool programatically that will allow it to work inside the web browser plugin.
    many thanks,
    zoltan

    interesting situation.
As far as I know, there is no way to force a specific tool to be active when running in an external window (such as the browser).

  • Test whether doc is opened in Reader or browser plugin

    Hi,
is there a way to test programmatically whether the current document is opened in the full Reader application or in the web-browser plugin?
    Alexander

I can answer myself, it is the doc.external property.

  • Using standalone browser plugins in extension

I want to know if is it possible to use standalone Web Browser Plugins(like Google Earth, Adobe Reader or some I created) in Extension ?
Asking this weird question because, I must use Win .dll s and searched about applet and knew that it won't help me.(source http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/deployment/applet/security.html)
Another solution to do this is possible on browsers by creating own plugin. Google kicks-off NPAPI based plugins from chrome after this September and they created PPAPI structure. This may be a solution for me
to use win dlls but I don't know its useful in extension structure ?
Or if someone have any idea to this issue ?

If you use a symlink to link to the libnpjp2.so files then you might be able to include the Java version in the file name and have two links (libnpjp2-7u25.so and libnpjp2-7u55.so).
Note that you can also create a plugins folder in the current Firefox profile folder or in the ~/.mozilla folder (~/.mozilla/plugins)

Same problem here...nothing in my settings have changed since the upgrade and I've checked my cookie settings and they allow 3rd party cookies. What's up Mozilla? I've been faithful to you for years and you let me down now?

  • How to get the arch of flash player plugin running in my web browser,32-bit or 64bit ?

i need to get the arch with code.
it is not easy to judge the arch by the plugin version code.
    HOW? ANY INTERFACE?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply!
Even though it  is available in beta on Adobe Labs,We can download 64-bit Flash Player from Adobe web site.
On 64-bit Win 7 ,I use the web browser plug-in of eclipse SWT  to visit our web site ,
and i find the flash could not be displayed ,instead with a small red cross in the top left corner of  web browser.
Then uninstall 32-bit flash player and install 64-bit version, the flash could be displayed normally.
So now, i am trying to find a method to detect the arch of the flash player.

  • Require Browser Plugin with XFA Support for Government Web Sites

Most of the government sites I need to use on a regular basis now publish all of their forms in PDF with XFA, a popular one this time of year is income tax forms.  This is reasonable as there is no generally available alternative file format for this purpose.  However Adobe no longer supplies an Acrobat browser plugin for Firefox or Chrome on Linux.  I therefore cannot access these electronic forms.  I have tried using the no longer supported Acrobat 9.5 plug in, but it is broken under the latest version of Firefox (print doesn't work).  There is no other plugin that I can find that supports PDF forms using XFA.  How can I regain access to these forms.  When I try all I get is a message telling me to install the (non-existent) Adobe Acrobat plugin.

I was only using income tax filing as an example of this type of application.  For the sake of my privacy I would rather not specify exactly what government I am dealing with or what the purpose of the form is.  Suffice it to say that in this particular case the ONLY way to submit this form is through the paper form, and the only ways I can get a copy of the paper form are either to phone the office and have them mail me a blank form, or access the PDF file, which I cannot do because Adobe refuses to deliver a working browser plugin!  As explained in another reply the government web site does not present me with the URL of the actual PDF file, but rather with the URL of a server application that checks the capabilities of my PDF plugin and if it does not support XFA sends me instead a text message instructing me to install the Adobe browser plugin that Adobe refuses to make available!
I agree that PDF with XFA is an inappropriate way to implement this sort of application, and I would personally prefer an alternative.  For one thing using paper forms, even in electronic guise, costs more in the long run, since a civil servant must read the final paper document and enter the information into the government database, whereas if the client was presented with an ordinary web page the information could be entered directly by the client, and only validated by the clerk.  However in a transitional environment where only some of the clients have the ability to enter information into a web site many government applications will continue to be implemented in terms of paper forms.  In this environment it is important that all of the paper forms that have to be read by the data entry clerk look as much alike as possible.  That is why PDF is used because only PDF guarantees that all of the paper forms will be identically laid out.
In this particular situation the government department in question has spent $276,000,000 so far on this particular subsystem over the past 3 years and so far it takes more effort to process each transaction than it did on the older more manual system.

  • Does OATS support firefox 4 & manually install OATS plugin of web browser

I need to test automation on firefox4, but I couldn't find the OATS plugin on firefox 4 after I installed OATS.Does it support firefox4?
BTW, is there any way to install OATS plugin of web browser manually, so far, I need to uninstall and reinstall OATS to have the plugin installed on different versions of web browser, e.g. IE7/8/9 firefos3/4.
    Thanks a lot!

In the OpenScript folder, c:\OracleATS\OpenScript by default, there is an InstallBrowserHelpers.bat that tries to install the browser add-ons. I haven't tried it with Firefox 4, maybe just give it a shot?

    Hi,
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox ''Help'' menu and select ''Submit Feedback...'' or use [https://input.mozilla.org/feedback this link]. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). • Java does not work on my Win 7 IBM-compatible PC using Firefox as my web browser

A typical example of a website I would like to access & view is "www'cut-the-knot.org", a relatively mathematics-related website with a lot a very nice math content, where (roughly estimating) 70-90% of all web pages on the web site use Java applets to communicate that math content.
I CANNOT view the Java applets (am restricted/prevented from doing so) --- on CTK or ANY other website!.
I could go into all the details but, essentially, I have tried just about everything I can think of (or have found to do/try in discussions on the Internet by googling the problem) & nothing seems to have had any positive affect ... I can still not view ANY Java applets on ANY website! :-(
I USED to be able to view Java content on the PC I was working on, although, a few months ago, I migrated from Win XP to Win 7 when MS stopped supported Win XP. I don't know when things changed but, "while I wasn't looking" (&/or paying attention) something DID change. :-(
I'm using an IBM-compatble PC (not a Mac) with Windows 7 & Firefox as my web-browser.
I'm just a private individual ... just a "little guy" in my home ... little personal technical knowledge, no big biz connections, no $ to hire expensive (or inexpensive) experts to come in & assess & fix the problem. I would even just like to know if there is some kind of future expected date when something MIGHT get improved, barring an action "solution" of the problem.
From what I read on the Internet, some problem(s) relating to this issue has/have been extant for at least two years, dating back to at least 2012, if not further? I assume the problem would have been fixed long ago if it were easy to fix so, I'm not trying to be overly critical ... just asking for some kind of status report --- help/communication/knowledge/expertise/solution/etc ... & any information would be appreciated. Knowing WHAT the problem is is a high priority to me, certainly as well as understanding HOW TO FIX the problem, & WHEN that fix will occur.
Java is a seemingly wonderful technology but, if there are such severe security risks that require it be enabled so that no one (I'll assume I'm not the only one unable to view Java applets) can use it, it doesn't have much value to visitors to websites that employ Java to deliver a majority of their content. Part of the problem, obviously, is that (like CTK) MANY websites ALREADY use/employ Java --- & therefore, end-users have almost no access to the content in/on those websites.
    Thanx in advance ...

  • .xbap file not opening in web browser(IE and Chrome) and just keep on downloading it

i have developed  small XBAP application and trying to run (F5)
Problem is when i trying to run the Application,
its keep on downloading it (.xbap file ) and i can't see an application on Web browser even though i am developing in the local machine with .net 4.5 is installed and all necessary setting in the Internet option done.
[i just added one button in one page and not much code i have written]
i tried all the solution which i can get it from Google :-(  but still failed.
Please provide me the proper solution.

You have to register the WPF Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) types and file name extensions on the web server if you haven't already done so. Please refer to the following page for more information about how to do this:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/vstudio/ms752346(v=vs.100).aspx
If you are using another browser than Internet Explorer you will need to install a plugin:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7337155/how-can-i-get-my-xbap-to-run-in-my-browser-instead-of-downloading-it-on-windows
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How%20to%20enable%20and%20disable%20Windows%20Presentation%20Foundation
...but XBAP generally don't tend work that well in other browsers than IE.
Also make sure that you have enabled the "XAML browser applications" option under Internet Options->Security-> Custom level in IE:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17261858/run-wpf-application-in-browser
    Hope that helps.
