Web browsers hang when trying to save or load from Finder

It appeared some time ago, but didn't happen so frequently. Now I cannot load from or save to Finder almost never. When Finder opens up in any browser (Chrome, Safari, Mozilla) the browser immediately hangs. Sometimes rebooting of the laptop helps, but not always and only for some short time.

Try uploading a photo to a reply here by placing it on the Desktop and then dragging it to the Reply window. I've been having trouble with Safari not uploading the file if I use the camera icon on various forums and with Firefox crashing if I even attempt to upload a photo. Maybe we can tackle this together.

  • Flash problems with Mountain Lion - web browsers hang when trying to render flash content

    Hi Everyone,
    After installing Mountain Lion all my web browsers - including the new Safari - seem to not be able to retrieve web content properly.
    For example:
    1. Youtube video will not play, hang for a while, then error out
    2. Facebook will hang then error out (Safari cannot even get to the Facebook page for some reason)
    3. IMDB.com cannot render the page, then errors out.
    I've tried uninstalling all browsers, flash players, Java and reinstalling again, yet the same thing keeps happening.
    Anyone have any ideas for a solution?
    Thanks.

    Same problem. Done every thin to fix it . I noticed today that if i login to Youtube y can´t watch videos (some times only once), but if i logout i can watch every video.  Can you check on that???
    I have reinstalled Flash, delete cokies, cache files, fixed rights, and the same. The problem is the same in Chrome, Safari and Firefox and started just after i upgraded to Mountain Lion.

  • Acrobat X Pro v 10.1.10 (Mac OS 10.9.3) hangs when trying to save PDF files

    Acrobat X Pro v 10.1.10 (Mac OS 10.9.3) hangs when trying to save some PDF files, after opening or after commenting.  Applies for any of the Save options.  "Watch" then "spinning beach ball" appear and application is indicated as "not responding."  Mac OS Preview has no problem with the same files.  Files can be displayed with Acrobat, just not saved.  I would prefer to use Acrobat's commenting tools to mark up the document.

  • Firefox hangs when trying to save a file, even after removing firefox and reinstalilng afresh

    I recently experienced firefox hanging/freezing indefinitely when trying to save files, such as pdf files. The same pdf files open fine within the browser if I do not select "save link as...", but the problem occurs when I try to save such a file. The problem is similar regardless of the file type (e.g., .mp3, .txt). Not only did I go through the recommended solutions that mozilla suggests when file downloads hang, but I uninstalled firefox completely (removing all files with user settings), and then reinstalled firefox afresh without any plugins or add-ons, and I still have the same file save problem. It may also be worth mentioning that this problem does not occur in internet explorer or chrome. Maybe a system file that firefox uses got corrupted (?), but I don't know which one or how to repair it if that indeed is the problem.
    My system is running XP, and I have McAfee AV installed (which has not been a problem in the past).

    Early on I tried starting firefox in safe mode as one possible fix, and that didn't solve the problem. I just tried again right now with the fresh installation, and still no luck.
    Any other ideas?

  • Error when trying to save still image from video with Quicktime Pro

    I just purchased Quicktime Pro so that I can use it with my new Nano (the one that shoots video). I want to grab a frame from the video and create a still image (in jpeg format). I should be able to do it, but when I try, I get an error 11005 (or something like that). Anyone know any way to fix this? Thanks!

    I also tried the alt/ctrl/shift buttons when clicking Editor in the Photoshop welcome screen. It did ask if I wanted to reset the preferences. I chose yes. I still get the same error message when trying to save for web.
    Below....showing I don't have a "save for web" folder on my C drive.
    And below, showing the same error after pressing alt/shift/ctrl when clicking on editor and clearing the preferences.
    I don't have a 'Save for Web' folder anywhere on my C: drive. I searched and came up with no folder with the text "save for web" in it.
    I did find a "save for web" folder on my D: drive and deleted that.. but now when I start up Photoshop, the option for Save for Web is grayed out...not able to select it.

  • New version of Firefox is hanging when trying to play a file from the BBC iPlayer

    When trying to click on the 'Play' button on the BBC iPlayer site http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/radio/categories/drama, Firefox hangs and does not allow me to click on anything else on any of the open tabs.
    If I use the task master to close Firefox and then try to reopen it, I get a message saying that it is already open. Only restarting the computer will allow me to start it again.

    do some working around, remove the old version, download the latest version from mozilla official, and do the new install, and install the addons. update problems are more than you can think over, so just do a new complete for sure. update sometimes is really time wasting......

  • FF hangs when trying to save pdf files

    Adobe pdf documents open fine but when I try to save a copy, FF hangs (hourglass, stops responding). Right-click and "Save link as" also hangs.
    Under Tools->Options, if I select either "General" or "Applications", it hangs. All add-ons (there are only a few) are disabled, safe mode makes no difference.
    Sometimes, I can right-click on FF on the taskbar and close it, but usually I have to use the task list to kill it.
    IE (ugh) handles pdfs fine. I've changed the download directory, cleared the download history, cleared browsing history/private data, no change.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Can't correlate to a particular update, since I don't always open pdfs

    I tried uninstalling and re-installing FF 3.6.6 and then uninstalling and replacing it with 4.0beta. The program hangs under the following conditions (that I've found so far):
    Load pdf (I can no longer even view them)
    Click on "Tools>Options"
    Import bookmarks from an HTML file
    This happens with a clean install of FF, no changes whatsoever to the default configuration.
    On my home computers, FF works great, it's just here on my work machine. No coworkers have reported similar troubles with the same software. Is there a way I can figure out if another program is causing weird things to happen? Some diagnostic I can run that will indicate where FF is having trouble? Any assistance would be really appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • In Mac OSX Firefox is hanging when trying to save files forcing restart - related to Google Chrome Script possibly

    When saving files from within Firefox sometimes, I get a pop up dialog message saying "Warning Unresponsive Script". The script it refers to is "chrome:global/content/bindings/general.xml:0". I am usually running Chrome at the same time cause I use different browsers for different things and that's the only way I can keep my workflow straight. However, I am not sure what one, would have to do with the other. But there it is. When this happens, things are usually fine and I can save my photo or whatever just fine no problem. However, about 25% of the time it locks me into a loop that I cannot get out of. I cannot dismiss the script error, I cannot save the file or skip the file save dialog box either, and the only way I can continue in Firefox is to force close it and restart. This is SERIOUSLY annoying me and affecting me adversely and I am going to have to dump Firefox and use something else if I can't get this resolved.
    I took a look at the error log to see what it said and found the following:
    Jan 19 22:37:35 mac-mini [0x0-0x1a01a].com.google.Chrome[186]: Handling SIGTERM in renderer.

    Any ideas on fixing this? I did not have this problem with the previous version of Firefox and only started encountering it recently when I started using Firefox 3.6.13

  • Web Browsers hang when loading pages

    Hi!
    On my early 2011 Macbook Pro webpages take forever to load, and somthimes dont load at all. This happens with all browsers, in safari the blue progress bar stops at the first interval and sits there for a LONG time until it goes on, in Chrome it is hung on " Sending Request " . This does not happen on all webpages, it is random.
    If anyone could help that would be great!

    Ive fixed the problem. Just go into Chrome preferences > Under the hood and uncheck " Predict network actions to improve page load performance" this fixes the problem. Thanks for your help and I hope that this can help other people with this problem.

  • Explorer stalls when trying to save while disconnected from VPN

    I use a VPN to access work files at home with a mapped network drive. Because it limits bandwidth, I keep it disconnected most of the time. However,
    anytime the VPN is disconnected and I try to save a file in Office, or attach a file on Windows Mail, it freezes explorer until I reconnect the VPN even if the last save spot wasn't on the mapped network drive. For whatever reason, since it is a recent save
    location, Windows can't function properly until I'm reconnected to the drive even if I don't intend to save to it. Is there a way to disable windows mail and word from trying to find the disconnected mapped drive and freezing up until I reconnect? It is extremely
    inconvenient to have to reconnect to the VPN anytime I need to use Word or attach a file to an email.

    Hi,
    First, I have tested following things.
    Use process monitor to check the process when saving word file. Noticed that when open the browser explorer, my mapped the drive was explored.
    Considering that this issue can be caused if the explorer.exe hang on browsing the mapped network drive.
    Please Download the process monitor to capture the system events during repro this issue, filter out the winword.exe and navigate the Network Activity, and see if there is any failure.

    Also, check the event log and post back the explorer.exe hang event.
    For further troubleshooting, we need you help to create the explorer.exe hang dump files:
    First enable app crash dump collection by copying following words into notepad, saving it as dump.reg and importing it:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\localdumps\explorer.EXE]
    "DumpFolder"=hex(2):63,00,3a,00,5c,00,63,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,64,00,75,\

    "DumpCount"=dword:00000010
    "DumpType"=dword:00000001
    "CustomDumpFlags"=dword:00000000
    Then, open word to repro the issue. If crash issue appeared, please find the crashdump file under c:\.
    To further help you, please upload this file into Onedrive and shared the link here.

    Hi Georg,
    So, at least we know the cause and why / when it appeared.
    Two possibilities:
    1.) Basis has done a clean, complete update. In that case, SAP would have some bug in the code. But I doubt this a bit, as such bugs should occur at compile time.
    2.) The update was done incompletely, so some parts are SP17, some are SP18. I would advise to call http://server:port/sap/monitoring/ComponentInfo (maybe you already have done so, writing "We have checked the versions of the components on AS").
    If there is no hint into direction 2, maybe it is 1. At least, if all components are really SP18, this would be a basis to open an OSS message, for sure.
    Anyhow, you also have tried a complete restart of the cluster?!
    Hope it helps

    I am trying to export a pages doc to any other format.  I have tried the 'hidden' save as, exporting to pdf, deleting part of the document, changing the font, duplicating and saving- nothing is working!  I receive an 'unexpected error'.  I did not have any issues until I did the last OS X udate.

    Stick to straight alpha numeric, no punctuation.

    I should have looked closer at your system info on your OP. You're on 10.7 (I'm not) and apparently things are set up differently there. My apologies. I hope someone else will post here. If not, you should probably start a new thread in the 10.7 forum. Good luck to you.
