Web Cache 2.0.0.2.0 Available
In case you haven't already noticed, Web Cache 2.0.0.2.0 is
available for download on OTN. There is also an additional patch
set or two available on Metalink.
I can't figure out where is WebCache 2.0.0.2.0 stand alone
download.
I only found these links:
Oracle9iAS Web Cache for Sun SPARC Solaris
webcache20020_solaris.zip - Note: requires prior installation of
Web Cache 2.0.0.1.0 - see the readme. (10,022,460 bytes)
webcache20010solaris.tar.gz - (64,298 kb) - Note: This download
is Oracle9iAS Web Cache (v2.0.0.1.0), a later version than is
currently shipping in Oracle9iAS v1.0.2.2.
esikit2.zip - (146 kb)
The latest release of Oracle9i Application Server includes
support for ESI (Edge Side Includes) technology that will improve
the response time and scalability of even the most dynamic Web
sites.
Or is necesary to download "Oracle9iAS v1.0.2.2.1 Core for Sun
SPARC Solaris"

Hi There,
I need a high availability web caching solution for 500 users, preferential with proxy funcionality.
Cisco had the Cisco Web Caching Engine, but it is End-of-Sales already. The new product that will replace the EOS product, is Wide Area Application Engine (WAE) plataforms. Is that right?
The Cisco Global Price List has a SKU product SE512-IPROXY-K9 (Security / iProxy WAE-512 bundle, 1GB MEM, 1 250GB HDD Incl.).
The question are:
The SKU product SE512-IPROXY-K9 is the right product for my needs?
What is the difference between the SKU SE512-IPROXY-K9 and the SKU WAE-512-K9?
Regards,
Pedro VasquesHi Pedro,
The WAE product line does WAN Optimization which includes HTTP optimization. The WAN Optimization solution works between two WAEs (one being at a Branch office and the other being at Data Center ). When employees at branch office tries to access resources like Servers at Data Center their TCP based traffic gets optimized. For more info pl go to http://www.cisco.com/go/waas
Cisco's Web Caching was a different solution. It caches the web objects when first user goes to a given web site. The following user requests will be served locally as long as cache history is available for that web page.
I suggest you contact either a Cisco partner or Cisco representative in your area.
thanks

When i tried to enable WebCache using Enable/Disable Component in Oracle 10g Enterprise manager - I can't see WebCache component it to enabe or disable it.
When i tried opmnctl status., it shows

Deepak.CHi.,
Thanks again !!!
Yes, My Oracle HTTP Server is listening on port 80.
I am not clear, may i know why should the ports be changed for the request to go through Web Cache ???
Can i assign port 80 for Web Cache and 7778 for HTTP Server ?
Also In Oracle Enterprise Manager, Web Cache is not available...
home, HTTP Server, management alll these are there...
Also for HTTP Server, it's not showing any metric info, 'Not Yet Available' is shown even though the HTTP Server is running, how can i get metric info about Oracle HTTP Server, i have also used dmstool -t ohs_server, its not working
It's showing... FLEXMON ERROR : detected invalid table name ohs_server
dmstool -l -t also does'nt lists ohs_server
Hellp me over this.....

We are occassionally getting the following error in various scenarios -- in development or just browsing the site:
"Oracle Web Cache Network Error"
Oracle Web Cache encountered a network error when communicating with the application web server.
We have Web Cache installed on the same server as the portal application, but an Oracle consultant who was in a few weeks ago said we had more than enough capacity. Any ideas? We're on Oracle Portal Version: 3.0.9.8.2 andThe error you are seeing is usually the result of a slow response from your origin server, although it could be something else. If you provide
a snippet of your Web Cache event log (verbose), I'll be able to assist you better.
For now, let's assume it is due to a slow origin server response. On a cache miss, if the Web Cache doesn't receive a response
from the origin server within a given time interval, it will close the connection with the origin server and respond to the browser with
a network apology page. This is the page you are seeing. There are ways to correct this.
First of all, you should modify the network apology page in order to customize it for your application or web site. The file is located in the $ORACLE_HOME/webcache/docs directory.
If you're using Web Cache 9.0.2.x, the default origin server timeout is 3600 seconds. You probably won't have to change this, but if you want to, then
please refer to the "Oracle9iAS Web Cache v9.0.2.0 Administration and Deployment Guide", available on OTN.
The relevant section is" Chapter 6, Task 7: Configure Network Timeouts."
If you're running Web Cache 2.0.0.x, the default origin server response timeout is 30 seconds. This default was chosen because we felt
that no application should take more than 30 seconds to respond to a user's request. Since then, we've learned that a lot of apps out there,
especially business intelligence apps, have complex queries that take several minutes, if not hours, to complete. To change this default timeout, you need to modify your internal.xml
file. Here's a snippet from the 2.0.0.4 readme.html file describing how to do this:
3.0 Network Apology Pages
When Oracle Web Cache sends requests to an application Web server, Oracle Web Cache permits the application Web server 30 seconds in which to
generate a response for the browser. If the application is unable to generate a response within that time, Oracle Web Cache sends a network apology
page to the browser.
If 30 seconds is not sufficient, then you can change the default settings of the OSSEND_TIMEOUT and OSRECV_TIMEOUT attributes in the
internal.xml file:
OSSEND_TIMEOUT: Network round-trip time (latency) between Oracle Web Cache and the application Web server. The 20 second default of
the OSSEND_TIMEOUT attribute is usually sufficient for most operating systems.
You can determine the latency to the application Web server by issuing the the following command from the Oracle Web Cache computer:
ping -s application_Web_server
This command provides output similar to the following:
PING sales.us.acme.com: 56 data bytes
64 bytes from sales.us.acme.com (130.35.45.34): icmp_seq=0. time=20. ms
64 bytes from sales.us.acme.com (130.35.45.34): icmp_seq=0. time=21. ms
If the time value is over 20 seconds, then increase the OSSEND_TIMEOUT attribute value.
OSRECV_TIMEOUT: Latency and application Web server processing time. The default is 30 seconds.
You can determine the processing time by sending a sample request to the application Web server and monitoring the time to process the
request. If the processing time is over 30 seconds, then increase the OSRECV_TIMEOUT attribute value.
To change these default settings:
1.Locate the following line in the internal.xml file:
<CALYPSONETINFO/>
2.Modify the <CALYPSONETINFO/> line as follows:
Add the OSSEND_TIMEOUT attribute as follows:
<CALYPSONETINFO OSSEND_TIMEOUT="seconds"/>
Add the OSSRECV_TIMEOUT attribute as follows:
<CALYPSONETINFO OSSRECV_TIMEOUT="seconds"/>
Add both the OSSEND_TIMEOUT and OSSRECV_TIMEOUT attributes as follows:
<CALYPSONETINFO OSSEND_TIMEOUT="time" OSRECV_TIMEOUT="time"/> -

We are just about wrapped up with our Oracle9iAS Release 2 (9.0.3) version for Windows NT. As you've seen, we have released the 903 version for a number of Unix platforms (Solaris, HP-UX, HP-Tru64, Linux) already and the Windows platform will follow shortly.
For the moment, if you're running on Windows and want to use the J2EE 1.3 functionality, you can download the pure Java OC4J 903 distribution available from OTN. This is the same set of Java code that is the 9iAS distribution.

Pls answer my three questions: custom install : web cache applet support: Urgent
we are using 9iAS v 10200 in win2000 server.
Here are my queries:
1: Does 9iAS v 10200 support custom installation ? For example I
want to install only web server, webcache, forms & reports support.
If custom installation of individual components is not available
on v 10200 then in which version it is supported ?
2. whenever I try installs 9iAS v 10200 from network,then after
rebooting(during start of installation)it gives JRE error. is
this a limitation of 9iAS v 10200 ?
3. 9iAS v 10200 web cache does not support applet. In which
version of 9iAS web cache would support applet ?
Its urgent. Thanks in Advance
yogeshCustom installation is not supported for iAS but we have four
different install types & you can select according to yor need
these are all available with iAS10221 onwards. You check for
installation docs related to the version you are using. -
I need some help here with this CE-510 A box frankly I haven't worked on it.
My customer has asked for Web caching three sites eg. http://support.cisco.com and given me an IP address xx.xx.xx.xx.
Any document that someone could point out to would be great. If sample configurations are available it would be even better.
I am also attaching current config.
All users are accessing web through a proxy server.

Web cache limitation-can't add more than 6 cachebility rules
Hi ,
I am using 9iAS v10200 on winnt 4.0 server.
But in webcache I could not able to add more than 6 cachebility rules. In 5 rules it is working fine. But after adding 6th rule, I was unable to edit, add, delete any rule from webcache admin (port 4000)
Is there any way to increase the no.'s of cacheblity rules in this version of webcache.
please reply immediately.
Thanks in advance.
yogeshMy memory is a little bit fuzzy on this one, but I think the Web Cache 2.0.0.1 version that is currently available for download on OTN and Metalink fixes this NT UI problem. Note, it's a UI problem, not a limitation of the cache itself. Editing the webcache.xml by hand is a workaround, but you might as well install the 2.0.0.1 version to get the fix.

[email protected]In the Web Cache Manager UI:
- first define your 9 sites (site definition)
- then define your 2 origin servers (application web servers)
- then map each site to the appropriate origin server (site to server mapping)
Be sure to apply changes and restart the cache when you're done.
As suggested earlier, see the Web Cache Administration and Deployment Guide (available on OTN) for detailed instructions. -

Web Cache for 10.1.3 ??
The Disk (CD) #1 Install for 10.1.3 contains OC4J, OHS and the Admin Console, but no Web Cache. Is the Web Cache for 10.1.3 available on one of the supplemental disks (CD images)? Does a 10.1.3 version of the WebCache exist?
Hi David,
As far as I know, 10.1.3 doesn't include the usual Web Cache component. But it does have Web Caching functionality in a different form called the ADF Faces Cache, which's Web Cache as part of the ADF Framework of Oracle. For more info, refer here:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/web_cache/afc/index.html
Hope this helps.

Only 'web-cache' gets redirected - no other service groups...
I have a Netcache configured for transparent caching for port 80 and 443. The Netcahce IP is 164.72.49.253. We have a 6509, sup720 IOS. 12.2(17a)SX3, configured to redirect web-cache and 1 to the Netcache. Here is the config:
ip wccp web-cache
ip wccp 1
The 6509 interface that controls the subnet the netcache is on is configured thus:
interface Vlan1
ip address 164.72.49.131 255.255.255.128
ip wccp web-cache redirect out
ip wccp 1 redirect out
We have a PC on another subnet connected to the 6509 that we are using to test the config, and we can only get port 80 to be redirected to the Netchace. HTTPS port 443 never gets redirected. Service group 1 is configed on the Netcache as tcp port 443.

Oracle Web Cache - Load Balancer Mode
Hello,
I am facing a problem related to fault tolerance in Oracle Web Cache
My environment:
2 Nodes of Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 configured in cluster.
have configured Oracle Web Cache (in LoadBalancer mode only) to simulate a BigIP load balancing above these two oc4j node. This to be used as fault tolerance so if one http request will fail the LoadBalancer will direct it to the second oc4j (its http server).
I have used the defaults recommended by Oracle documentation for configuration clustering load balancer using Oracle Web Cache and using JSESSIONID for Session binding with oc4j-type. I left all other cluster/server setting to default
Problem:
The problem is when I am shutting down one oc4j instance the Oracle Web Cache tries to keep the session with the un-available oc4j node and not direct the session to the other oc4j node.
If I choose to start a new session (loose current work) than it does work with the second (alive) oc4j node, but than where is its fault tolerance??
What do i need to do to keep working with the same session over the second oc4j node. My deployed Web App is enabled to work in cluster, using Oracle Application Server console. Here is its orion-application.xml

Will appreciate any help !is OHS/apache deployed between web cache and your OC4J? if so, i think since OHS/apache is alive to web cache, web cache keeps routing to it.
maybe in your script, you can shutdown both OHS/apache and OC4J totgether so web cache can correctly route. -
