Web Cache Configuration Assistant Failed

Hi,
When we try to install OEM (10.2.0.1) on OEL5, they got the following error while configuring Web Cache, I notice there is a bug # 6078836. Any idea if its fix is available?
Failed in smi manipulation().
A problem has occurred reading the initial configuration and storing it into repository
Resolution:
Please refer to the base exception for resolution, or call Oracle support.
Base Exception:
/usr01/app/oracle/OracleHomes/oms10g/Apache/Apache/bin/httpd: error while loading shared libraries: libdb.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Resolution:
Please make sure the values entered in OHS configuration files are correct.
oracle.ias.sysmgmt.exception.InvalidConfigurationException: Base Exception:

Thanks

Hi,
I had similar problem and creating symbolic link and then giving suitable permission resolved the error.
[root@tmgeorge-idc db10g]# ln -s /usr/lib/libgdbm.so.2.0.0 /usr/lib/libdb.so.2
[root@tmgeorge-idc db10g]# chmod 755 /usr/lib/libgdbm.so.2.0.0
[root@tmgeorge-idc db10g]# chmod 755 /usr/lib/libdb.so.2
Again retry installation process. It will go through

. Please also check the logs located at
ORACLE_HOME/dcm/logs to determine why DCM was unsuccessful in updating
the configuration files on disk. Some possible causes are:
    *     permissions on files
    *     file contention issues on Windows NT
    *     internal Oracle error
After resolving the problem that prevented DCM from updating the configuration
files, you may use the dcmctl resyncInstance command to resolve the problem.
Alternatively, you can stop and then restart the active dcmctl or EMD
process and resyncInstance will automatically be performed.

  • GRID CONTROL FAILS at Web Cache Configuration Assistant

    Hi,
I am installing Grid Control 10.2.0.1 on Oracle Enterprise Linux 4. I run into this error at Web Cache Configuration Assistant :
    Failed in smi manipulation().
    The most likely causes are:
    1. TaskMaster cannot read configuration files, such as $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf/opmn.xml, and $ORACLE_HOME/dcm/dcm.conf, etc.
    2. Cannot connect to the repository.
    Resolution:
    1. Make sure that the system configuration files are present and the permission for those files are set correctly.
    2. If you are using Infrastructure Database, please make sure that the database is up and running, and the listener for the database is running. Also check the connectivity of the machine to the Database Repository. Please refer to the exception thrown by the Repository API for resolution. The Repository API may be misconfigured.

As per a couple of earlier threads almost related to this .. I have corrected my PATH, TMP, LD_LIBRARY_PATH env variables, but I repeatedly get stuck at this point.
Any insights on this please ?

    Resolution:
    1. Make sure that the system configuration files are
present and the permission for those files are set
    correctly.
    2. If you are using Infrastructure Database, please
make sure that the database is up and running, and
the listener for the database is running. Also check
the connectivity of the machine to the Database
Repository. Please refer to the exception thrown by
the Repository API for resolution. The Repository
    API may be misconfigured.

  • Cache Configuration Assistant Fails At 96%

I am currently experiencing problems with the 9iAS Cache Configuration Assistant.
The configuration assistant fails at 96% while updating the user list.
    The assistant detail window reads:

Adding users to the cache failed
Reason: WTE-03501 Error updating list of users. Export failed on origin database.

    ORA-06512: at "SYS.WTCSYS", line 67
    ORA-06512: at line 1
I have attempted to configure the cache several times having checked through the configuration guide for all pre-insatllation tasks, and each time it fails at 96%.
I have also attempted to update the user list within cache manager (DBA Studio) with no success and if I attempt to add tables to cache the error displayed reads WTE-03608 - error caching table dcctl.???? on cache webserver-cache. User dcctl does not exist in the cache.
    Please Help!!!!
    Cheers
    Charlie Hampson ([email protected])

I'm assuming this is for the Database Cache. DB Cache has been discontinued in 9iAS v2. This forum is mainly focused
    on Web Cache topics.
If you're having trouble configuring DB Cache for 9iAS v1, please contact Oracle Support.
    Thanks.

    Can someone help me?

I had the similar issue and same error mesaage.
One of the possible reason is the DNS and/or host file configuration.
If the OID/SSO and metadata repository are on two different servers, make sure for both servers, the entries IP <fully qualified hostname> <Alias> reflects in host file of each of them.
Simply click retry and the install should run to completion.
    Good Luck!

Use physical disks, not NFS mounts. But you are still restricted to a 10.2 database max. SSO won't install in an 11g database with the repca tools from IDM 10.1.2 and 10.1.4.

I have a similar problem on a similar environment (Win 2003/ 10.1.3.2.0/DB 10.2.0.1) installation of Webcenter Suite using Basic installation.
I have tried creating the table spaces according to the specifications given in oracle documentation, yet the installer complained about the table spaces not having free space left (specially, the WORK_IFS tables space). I also tried giving spaces on average 15MB more then the suggested space for their datafiles, and it still complained about the table space issue.
    - When the configuration assistant fails, and you exit out of the Universal Installer, is there any option or way to just rerun the configuration assistant for content db again?
    - I see on the EM for WebCenter Suite that all the other components seem to install properly and are up and running yet there is no mention of Content DB. Nor there is any option to try to reconfigure it.
    - or do we have to uninstall the whole WCSuite, and/or the database 10201 too and then reinstall the software?
Can someone please help in finding a way forward?
    thanks for your cooperation.

Can any bosy help me in this problem. I have tried reinstalling the OS also but the problem is still there at the same place

I had exactly the same poblem on a red hat 64bit OS on the infrastructure install.
But while trying to start opmn manually (that is definitely not to do to solve the problem). I had the error telling me that the shared library libdb.so.2 was not accessible.
I did add the compat-db-4xxxxx.i386.rpm and then retry the check. Then all passed threw.
To note that the .log file from the install says definitely nothing about this and that just trying to start the opmn did create another .log that gave me the file problem.
Hope it can help for 64bit linux OS installation.

    Hi,
Indeed, I am trying to install Oracle Application Server inside a Linux (Ubuntu 9.04) VMWare vm.
This URL [http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?language=en_US&externalId=1420] for some reason shows me a blank page.
@In case above URL goes bad, a copy dated 26-AUG-2008 is attached hereNot sure what you mean by "+is attached here+"?
I found similar posts on time problems in Linux VMWare virtual machines,
    - [http://msmvps.com/blogs/rexiology/archive/2006/12/21/clock-in-a-linux-guest-runs-more-slowly-or-quickly-than-real-time.aspx]
but they're all kind of old, and the last URL says that "+Mainline Linux kernels 2.6.18 and later are not affected+".
My Ubuntu version is using a newer kernel:
    Linux ubuntu-9 2.6.28-13-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jun 2 07:57:31 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
So I'm wondering, did anyone solve this problem on a system like mine? how?
    Thanks

    Hello,
I arrived on this thread by trying to install Oracle Portal 11.1.1.2 from scratch.
My environment is just for evaluating, so it is a vm with 6GB of RAM on 64b architecture.
    I've installed so far:
    OS: OEL5.6 - 64b
    DB: 11.1.0.7 -64b
AS: Weblogic - [10.3.5 from JAR, as this is available for 64b|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic/downloads/wls-main-097127.html]
    OID - [11.1.1.2|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/oid-11g-161194.html]
so until now everything went pretty smooth.
Further according to the install guide for portal , I needed to install SSO.
So I continued to install the mrcu(metadata repository ) which went fine
    MRCU: [10.1.4.3.1|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/fmw-11-download-092893.html]
Further I for SSO and DAS I've started to install following document:1069426.1
    SSO+DAS : 10.1.4.1
Installing this I've get next error
Output generated from configuration assistant "OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant":

  • WebCenter Suite installation: Content DB configuration Assistant failed

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to install Oracle WebCenter 10.1.3.2.0 on Windows 2003 machine. I had installed a DB 10.2.0.1 to serve for the db for content DB repository.
I chose the Basic Installation type for webcenter suite. The installation is generally successful but the configuration assistant for content DB failed.
In the contentconfig.log file, I see the following error stack.
    *********** Starting AdminManagerAction_CreateInterMediaMedia ***********

I am stuck with this error. This is the second time I did the complete installation and have got this error.
Can anyone tell what is the cause of the error and what is needed to fix it? Will appreciate any helpful ideas.
