Web cache detail statistics monitor page missing

Hi,
After installed the 9iAS on SUN Solaris, I can start the web cache statistics page, but I cannot click into the details statictis page, it seems missing.
Now, I get this description.html page, but I don't know where to put it? Does anyone can tell me where this page be placed and any config. need to set??
Thanks in advance!!

Hi,
First of all, the detailed statistics page
is only meant for internal diagnostics and
is not a supported feature.
All of the useful statistics information
can be viewed from Oracle WebCache Manager:
http://<webcache hostname>:<admin port>/webcacheadmin
Once in there, the bottom 3 links on the left
frame contain all the exposed statistics
data of the webcache and the web servers.
Each page also has context sensitive help
describing the data.
The broken links on the detailed stats page
are simply links to a help file (description.html) describing the different
fields. To make the links work, you need to
create a subdirectory "docs", under:
<webcache installation dir>/docs/
Put the file in the subdirectory, so it's at:
<webcache installation dir>/docs/docs/
Restart WebCache.
BTW, how did you get hold of the
description.html file?

  • Setting OF LD_LIBRARY_PATH AND WEB CACHE PROBLEM [SHOWING PREVIOUS PAGE ]

    Dear Members,
I would request for help regarding setting of LD_LIBRARY_PATH in Oracle 11G Application server and web cache problem when any single text file edit and save the result should not be changed . it shows previous page result.
    *1. Where to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH in Oracle11g Application Server (10.3.0) ? [  like in 9ias we set in opmn.xml . ] Where is opmn.xml file in oracle11g or which files contained LD_LIBRARY_PATH?*
*2. When we created program generated report it shows correct result after some changes in file and generate again it shows first means previous page result as it is not take changes in that file. Even we tried out side made one .text file and open edit and save. It's given same result. So What is the problem regarding it?*
It is the matter of  Browser Cache or WEB Cache. Where is the settings of it?
*3. How to connect database (oracle11g Release 2) through OCI driver?*
    Regards
    Vipul Patel

If you're compiling it yourself, you should set the library path then. If not, you can try something like this:
    env DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH:/path/to/add-on-libraries orca ...
but I'm not sure it will work.

    Hello ,
    Try Below Workarounds:
    Workaround 1:
    Open Central Admin
    àApplication Management  à
Configure Alternate access mapping-->Edit your web application zone and add your server name in Intranet zone. So default can be serverIP and intranet could be servername.
    Workaround 2:
Might be there is some issue with DNS and try to check that WebApplication is pointing to correct IP or not.
Also try to access your Sharepoint site using ip Address .. If you still gets error Kindly share the logs ..
    Best

  • Update Portal with new Web Cache location

    Hi!
We are trying to move our front-end WebCache to a new server. The Web Cache seems to work allright, but I can't get Portal to access the Web Cache.
After moving the Web Cache I've updated the Portal Web Cache Settings in IAS console's portal:portal instance. OC4J_Portal and portal:portal are running and are not showing any errors in IAS console. When I try to access Web Cache through Portal administrative page i get an error saying WWC-40019 "Could not open web cache connection". The URL Portal uses to access Web Cache admin page i.e. is wrong.
I need some help finding the appropriate way to configure Portal with the new Web cache addresses.
    Thank you!
    Best regards
    "Heyers"

Portal PM, I thought you said that this solution would not work. Everyone I have heard so far has said that you cannot configure webcache to work with Portal documents. Does this work or does it not?
Read the messages below from the bottom up.
It's not possible to do that today.
In 9.0.2 (the next release) we will be using WebCache configured out of the box so you won;t need to, however, till then you cannot use webcache with Portal 3.0.x
    Thanks

please try using this configuration on http.conf
    Port <webcache port>
    Listen <apache listen port>
    ServerName <webcache hostname>
you must running ssodatan script again.
    Note :
this config only make portal work together with webcache.

  • Only 'web-cache' gets redirected - no other service groups...

I have a Netcache configured for transparent caching for port 80 and 443. The Netcahce IP is 164.72.49.253. We have a 6509, sup720 IOS. 12.2(17a)SX3, configured to redirect web-cache and 1 to the Netcache. Here is the config:
    ip wccp web-cache
    ip wccp 1
The 6509 interface that controls the subnet the netcache is on is configured thus:
    interface Vlan1
    ip address 164.72.49.131 255.255.255.128
    ip wccp web-cache redirect out
    ip wccp 1 redirect out
We have a PC on another subnet connected to the 6509 that we are using to test the config, and we can only get port 80 to be redirected to the Netchace. HTTPS port 443 never gets redirected. Service group 1 is configed on the Netcache as tcp port 443.

  • Discoverer Servlet with Web Cache gzip Compression

    Hi,
we have some Discoverer Worksheets which we want to access by ISDN dial in (64 kbit/sec). To speed up the response time when users use this slow connection, we want to activate Web Cache gzip compression.
But even when we enable Web Cache for Discoverer (configuration.xml), Web Cache don't compress pages generated by Discoverer Viewer. We found out that the generated responses contain the "content-disposition" HTTP-Header entry. Are we correct that this is the reason why there is no gzip compression? AND DOES ANYONE KNOW A WORKAROUND???
    Best regards,
    Matthias Scherer

When you set the caching rules, you can also specify whether or not you want the pages to be compressed. Web Cache compresses html pages and relies on the accept-encoding: gzip from the client header to determine whether or not to send the content compressed.

  • Is it possible to enable Web Cache gzip compression for 9iAS Disco Viewer?

    Hi,
Sorry for repeating this question. But it's very urgent and we don't have any idea yet how to solve / work around it:
To keep it short: Is it possible to use Web Cache gzip compression for pages rendered by 9iAS Discoverer Viewer???
Our scenario: We have some Discoverer Worksheets which we want to access by ISDN dial in (64 kbit/sec). An average page needs 2 minutes only for sending the html/javascript output rendered by Disco Viewer to the client browser.
To speed up the response time when users use this slow connection, we want to activate Web Cache gzip compression.
The problem: But even when we enable Web Cache for Discoverer (configuration.xml and Web Cache rules), Web Cache doesn't compress pages generated by Discoverer Viewer. We found out that the generated responses contain the "content-disposition" HTTP-Header entry. Are we correct that this is the reason why there is no gzip compression? AND DOES ANYONE KNOW A WORKAROUND (p.e. configure Disco not to add the content-disposition http header)???
    Best regards,
    Matthias Scherer

    Matthias,
Have you raised this as a TAR with Oracle Support? If you've got a specific question, and you need a definitive answer, raising a TAR is the best way to proceed.

My problem is that, due to the web cache, the PL/SQL element that performs the INSERT, runs only sometimes, and therefore my statistics are not accurate.
How could I run my PL/SQL element each time the page is accessed ?
    Thanks for your help;
    Best Regards,

    Hi JP,
"Our WBT courses do not get followed up at all in the new standard way."
We experienced this as well after implementing the solution in note 1796928. The cause of our problem turned out to be a missing authorization on the user account we use to run the web content player. In our case, the user had no read authority for infotype 1001 so function LSO_LA_SAVE_LEARNINFO_C never made the call to function ZLSO_IF_AUTO_CONFIRM.
To discover the cause, we needed to debug function LSO_LA_SAVE_LEARNINFO_C, however since it runs in a separate task we couldn't debug directly.
To get around this, we added messages of type X at various points in the function's enhancement code. This forced the function to dump at runtime, and we then looked at the runtime error log to see the contents of the dump message. This enabled us to find the problem. Maybe you could try this same debug-via-dump approach to identify the source of your problem.
Another thing to check is that users have authorization object P_LSO_FOUP.
I also want to mention that as part of our implementation, we made the same enhancement to function LSO_CP_WRITE_SCORMDATA as was made to function LSO_LA_SAVE_LEARNINFO_C so that function LSO_CP_WRITE_SCORMDATA also calls function ZLSO_IF_AUTO_CONFIRM.
    Cheers,
    Amy

  • Web cache statistics

    Hi All,
Where is the web cache statistics stored. Is it any table in the database or any raw files?
    thanks

The log tells us NOTHING about why the stats arent working.
In the admin interface we get the following error mesage when trying to view the stats
    Error
Failure obtaining statistics from Web Cache cache server: bad response code received.
Please check that the cache server is up and running.
BUT the cahce IS running and we can access pages and the "LOGS" DO show activity.
Any idea WHY the admin page won't display the statistics

  • Lottery Web Cache Sample - MISSING LINK??

    Hello everyone!
I'm trying to run the lottery Web Cache Sample, downloaded directly from OTN, but it sees as there was a missing link. If you head to:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/ias/web_cache/htdocs/Install.html
And go further in the install guide, you'll find a step reading " Install OJSP Demos to OC4J Step 1 : Download OJSP from ..." where these "..." is NOTHING at all!!
Does anyone know were can I find the missing link/files for this sample?
    Thanks community!
    Manuel.

Can you add the $JDEV_HOME/jlib/ojmisc.jar file to the classpath as well? This is the one that contains the Checksum class.

    Hello Linwood ,
the adapter engine is not longer a seperate application in XI3.0, rather it is a completly integrated part of XI3.0. You can configure the XI3.0 adapter engine only from the integration directory's communication channel which replaces the end point from XI2.0.
    I hope this helps you!

  • Forms/Reports: Role of the Database cache and Web cache

    Hello oracle experts,
I am running a purely Forms and Reports based environment (9iAS).
    My question are:
    a. Is it possible to use features from the Web Cache and
Database Cache to boost the performance of my applications?
    b. Are all components monitorable from the OEM?
Please guide me so that i can configure my OEM to monitor my
    forms and reports services.
thanks in advance for your reply
    Kind regards

    Hi BradW,
The way this is supposed to be done in Web Cache is by keeping separate copies of a cached page for different types of browsers distinguished by User-Agent header.
In case of cache miss, Web Cache expects origin servers to return appropriate version of the page based on browser type, and the page from the origin server is just forwarded back to browser.
Here, if the page is cacheable, Web Cache retains a separate copy for each type of User-Agent header value.
And when there is a hit on this cached page, Web Cache returns the version of page with the User-Agent header that matches the request.
Check out the config screen titled "Header Association" for this feature.
About forwarding requests to different origin servers based on User-Agent header value, Web Cache does not have such capability.

  • Web Cache Error

We are occassionally getting the following error in various scenarios -- in development or just browsing the site:
    "Oracle Web Cache Network Error"
Oracle Web Cache encountered a network error when communicating with the application web server.
We have Web Cache installed on the same server as the portal application, but an Oracle consultant who was in a few weeks ago said we had more than enough capacity. Any ideas? We're on Oracle Portal Version: 3.0.9.8.2 and

The error you are seeing is usually the result of a slow response from your origin server, although it could be something else. If you provide
a snippet of your Web Cache event log (verbose), I'll be able to assist you better.
For now, let's assume it is due to a slow origin server response. On a cache miss, if the Web Cache doesn't receive a response
from the origin server within a given time interval, it will close the connection with the origin server and respond to the browser with
a network apology page. This is the page you are seeing. There are ways to correct this.
First of all, you should modify the network apology page in order to customize it for your application or web site. The file is located in the $ORACLE_HOME/webcache/docs directory.
If you're using Web Cache 9.0.2.x, the default origin server timeout is 3600 seconds. You probably won't have to change this, but if you want to, then
please refer to the "Oracle9iAS Web Cache v9.0.2.0 Administration and Deployment Guide", available on OTN.
The relevant section is" Chapter 6, Task 7: Configure Network Timeouts."
If you're running Web Cache 2.0.0.x, the default origin server response timeout is 30 seconds. This default was chosen because we felt
that no application should take more than 30 seconds to respond to a user's request. Since then, we've learned that a lot of apps out there,
especially business intelligence apps, have complex queries that take several minutes, if not hours, to complete. To change this default timeout, you need to modify your internal.xml
file. Here's a snippet from the 2.0.0.4 readme.html file describing how to do this:
    3.0 Network Apology Pages
When Oracle Web Cache sends requests to an application Web server, Oracle Web Cache permits the application Web server 30 seconds in which to
generate a response for the browser. If the application is unable to generate a response within that time, Oracle Web Cache sends a network apology
    page to the browser.
If 30 seconds is not sufficient, then you can change the default settings of the OSSEND_TIMEOUT and OSRECV_TIMEOUT attributes in the
    internal.xml file:
OSSEND_TIMEOUT: Network round-trip time (latency) between Oracle Web Cache and the application Web server. The 20 second default of
the OSSEND_TIMEOUT attribute is usually sufficient for most operating systems.
You can determine the latency to the application Web server by issuing the the following command from the Oracle Web Cache computer:
    ping -s application_Web_server
This command provides output similar to the following:
    PING sales.us.acme.com: 56 data bytes
    64 bytes from sales.us.acme.com (130.35.45.34): icmp_seq=0. time=20. ms
    64 bytes from sales.us.acme.com (130.35.45.34): icmp_seq=0. time=21. ms
If the time value is over 20 seconds, then increase the OSSEND_TIMEOUT attribute value.
OSRECV_TIMEOUT: Latency and application Web server processing time. The default is 30 seconds.
You can determine the processing time by sending a sample request to the application Web server and monitoring the time to process the
request. If the processing time is over 30 seconds, then increase the OSRECV_TIMEOUT attribute value.
    To change these default settings:
1.Locate the following line in the internal.xml file:
    <CALYPSONETINFO/>
2.Modify the <CALYPSONETINFO/> line as follows:
Add the OSSEND_TIMEOUT attribute as follows:
    <CALYPSONETINFO OSSEND_TIMEOUT="seconds"/>
Add the OSSRECV_TIMEOUT attribute as follows:
    <CALYPSONETINFO OSSRECV_TIMEOUT="seconds"/>
Add both the OSSEND_TIMEOUT and OSSRECV_TIMEOUT attributes as follows:
    <CALYPSONETINFO OSSEND_TIMEOUT="time" OSRECV_TIMEOUT="time"/>

  • OCS 10.1.2.2. on Win2003ServerR2 - Web Cache status "unknown"

Hi, I am experiencing the following:
    - When, in EM, I navigate to the Middle tier of my OCS installation, everything looks fine (all processes green and up, including Web Cache).
    - If I click on the Web Cache link --> webcache page opens regularly --> web cache icon on top of the page is GREY, status reported as UNKNOWN.
    - If from here I click on the "stats" tab, all the stats are reported UNKNOWN and the dropdown menu on top of the page is completely empty, and nothing is selectable.
    - If I click on the "Administrative" tab, all the options (e.g. Sites, Origin Servers) are populated correctly.
    - last: if I exit from EM and navigate on the webcache administrative page (on port 9400), everything looks fine, and I can successfully start/stop the webcache etc.
It used to work from EM too in the recent past, no changes have been made to the system and the logfiles look OK....... Any clues?
    Thanks, Roberto

    Hi Andreas,
yes, I tried to restart EM agent... in a matter of fact, I also tried a complete server reboot.
Regarding the XML files, I have been carefully checking targets.xml and webcache.xml and it seems they are allright.... In fact, webcache IS working (if I check it through the administrative tool on port 9400). The whole system runs smooth.......
There must be something strange just with EM configuration....
Can you please tell me a bit more about the various XML files related to EM and Webcache configuration? Maybe I'm missing something....
    Thank you
    Roberto
