Web cam doesn't work on MacBook Air!

I have a mid 2013 MacBook Air. The webcam has stopped working on Skype and Google hangout. I've spoken to Apple support and they say it's a problem with Skype beacause the webcam works on FaceTime. I've seen that others have had this problem. Has anyone found a solution?

One thing to try:  Update your Flash software.  There is probably a place to do that in System Preferences.  But you can also do it via Adobe Flash Player - Downloads.

  • Camera is not working on MacBook Air 6,2 with Bootcamp and Windows 7 Pro 64-bit -- how to fix?

I have a MacBook Air 6,2 that has been Bootcamp'd with Windows 7 x64 Pro. Everything works find except for the camera, which does not appear to work at all. In the Windows Device Manager it shows the camera as installed with a working driver, but the camera never turns on.
Any ideas on how to make it work?

    Hi,
If there is no error after the disk checking, please temporary disable antivirus, update BIOS and device drivers such as hard drive from computer manufacturer’s
    website to check the result.
If the issue persists, I suggest you boot in Safe Mode, and clear the temp folder. Delete every files that can be deleted.
    C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp

  • Usb optical mouse doesn't work on MacBook Air

Hi, I need a mouse for my MBA but I only found a cheap USB optical mouse that i've used several times on my pc and worked perfectly fine, I tried using it on my MBA but it doesn't work. I searched in system information to see if at least the mouse is detected and surprisingly it is detected. The mouse has no brand and i don't think it needs any type of driver.  What should i do?
I have a MacBook Air mid-2012 running Mountain Lion.
    USB OPTICAL MOUSE:
      Product ID:          0x0a4c
      Vendor ID:          0x15d9
      Version:           1.00
      Speed:          Up to 1.5 Mb/sec
      Location ID:          0x14100000 / 1
      Current Available (mA):          500
      Current Required (mA):          100

You need at least a decent bluetooth mouse.
Best option of course is the Apple Magic Mouse.  $69

  • Battery doesn't work in MacBook Air after water damage

    Hi all,
Loooong story related to problems I've had with access to certain pages using my home internet connection (turns out that's the ISP and they just didn't want to admit it).
ANYWAY, my water bottle top popped off, and poured water all over my MacBook Air 11" mid 2012. I've had it sitting for about a week - did the whole rice thing etc. I've not connected it to a power socket (scared something might happen), but I have connected it to my hyperjuice external battery. It turns on with this and works completely fine it appears, except for a little sluggishness on some keys and the trackpad. I'm hoping this will lessen as it dries out. However, as soon as I disconnect the external battery it dies. It will not turn on on its own even though the battery has 97% power.
Can I replace the battery? Do you think that will suffice? And does anyone know about how much it would cost to do this?
What's my best plan of action here? I'm a student, and I can't really afford a new laptop (& the 17" is too big and heavy to take to uni). So, in failing to fix this one, I'm not exactly sure what I'll do.
    Thanks

Your best bet is to suck it up and take it to Apple. It'll be costly but water damage is, unfortunately, the gift that keeps on giving. It really needs to be professionally repaired. Check with your renters (or your parents) home/renters insurance to see if the computer is covered.

  • Web Camera doesn't work on my Lenovo G570 laptop, Please Help?

Well I recently bought a lenovo G570 laptop. The webcam worked fine for the first month. I don't really know when the camera stopped working but it seems that every software that uses a camera can detect the camera but when the video window pops up it is just plain white. I know the reason isn't because of the hot key FN+ESC because it works fine, I can disable and enable the camera. I read many threads with the same problem. I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers and easy capture but it does not solve my problem. Can someone please help?

As I  understand the camera is not working.
If the camera is getting activate by Fn+Esc key then it could be driver issue.
You need to uninstall the camera software and other relates software.
Update the BIOS and then install the camera drier
Download the BIOS update for Windows 7 32bit from the mentioned below web link.

  • Camera is not working in Macbook Air (Last version...

    Hi everybody!
I am having some problems with skype (6.1 and Mac OS X (10.9.3).
My camera isn't working anymore. In preferences section, it is not recognized (it is an isight integrated camera).
In addition, now all my contacts are only "nicknames" without photos, but a month ago they were just names with photos.
    Does anyone have a solution?

Double check to make sure you have all the latest software this will be critical going forward
    please read...
For all new downloads of Skype for Mac going forward the minimum supported OS X version is Mavericks. Skype might run on older OS versions, but it won't be tested and we can't guarantee it works. Skype is aligning to the support strategy of Apple here given that Mavericks is a free update for quite some time now.
As a result of recent improvements to the way Skype video works mixed older version of Skype might not work in video mode.
If you are experiencing video calling difficulties it might be because you or your friend are using an older version of Skype for Mac. Make sure you’re both using the latest version of Skype on your device.

I have a MacBook Pro Retina display: 15.4-inch late 2015 with OS X Mavericks install, only on second week.
Insight works on FaceTime, Skype, but yahoo program does not show insight cam in dropped down.
Now when I got my new MacBook Pro, I down loaded all new Skype (worked tested), FaceTime (Worked Tested), Yahoo (not worked)

Suddenly on Sunday while i was working, my macbook Air which i bought last year in Spetember from Arkansas, Little Rock stopped working, right after that i tried getting it on but nothing came other than a grey screen with a question mark right in the center. Could someone please help me in rectifying the problem. Would thi issue also affect saved data. However, I have handed the notebook to Apple for reapirs and they will revert by Thursday 12/04/2012.

I just received some horrifying news from Adobe about my production suite.  I just FINALLY learned today that what I've been trying to do for over a week now - CAN'T be done because of compatability issues involving updates of both Adobe & Microsucks Winders!!!  I sincerely hope this is not your problem.  Mine is ALMOST HOPELESS!!  Being in this HOPELESS Obamma economy,,,, leaves NO STIMULUS in which to currently upgrade everything that needs upgraded for me to fully use my INVESTMENT in Adobe Suite - sad, horrible and SICKENING!!!
I just wanted to post this. And again, I truly hope you find a solution. Good Luck!

  • TS5216 My camera doesn't work in any apps at all after 10.8.5

The iSight on my new MacBook Air won't work in any apps at all after the 10.8.5 update, and the system profiler says that there is no camera plugged in.
Before the update the camera worked on the built in apps such as Photo Booth, but not in Skype. So I found this article (http://community.skype.com/t5/Mac/Camera-not-Working-on-MacBook-Air-today-s-last -version/td-p/1927641) and that fixed it. But after the update nothing works, and I believe it's because of the solution the Skype forum suggested.
Does anyone have some good tips for me?
Edit: The OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 Supplemental Update did not solve the problem

After the original (flawed) update to OS X 10.8.5 was installed, the internal camera of a 2013 MacBook Air would not work in Skype and some other third-party applications. The flaw was fixed in a supplemental update. However, if you followed some questionable advice that was circulating on this site to hack your system before installing the supplemental update, then it will not restore camera functionality; in fact, the camera won't work at all. The solution in that case, most likely, is to install the 10.8.5 Combo update.
In the future, I suggest you ignore advice to hack your system by replacing, removing, or changing built-in system components.

  • My camera doesn't work any ideas?

I just purchased a MacBook Pro 2011 from a guy off Craigslist, and I noticed the camera doesn't work.  Any suggestions how to fix this.  If ou open any apps like facetime it just shows a camera with a line through it.

Take it to theApple store, they diagnois for free, and give you a price for repair. A flat rate to repair all that is wrong with the machine, about 1/3rd the price of the price of the least expensive MBP.   Does'nt sound healthty.   Maybe why he sold it.
