Web Camera aplicative Satellite L505 S6946

hi!
i'm Marco Zanutto, and i won a laptop Satellite L505-S6946 and i needed to execute an update.
I couldn't , after the update, make the camera work. I've been helped by a friend to execute the download of the aplicative directly in the Toshiba website, but i can't do it.
I need someone's help, please!

The image you see of the tree is probably due to the "screen cover" being activated. It is set in the Start --> All Programs --> Toshiba -->Toshiba Camera Application --> Effects --> Screen Cover tab. Ensure the Screen Cover option is set to Off (via the radio button).
The web cam launch program on my L505 series laptop is located under the Start --> All Programs --> Toshiba --> Web Camera Application. If the program doesn't run properly try downloading the latest version for your laptop on the Toshiba download site. Note: on my L505 this application also was initially installed on the left side of the menu (thin gray bar) and would hide itself until I moused over it with the mouse cursor.

is the operating system the factory installed system eg:- the system that was installed when you bought it
or when it was purchased from new ??
if so hopefully you could press the start key then all programmes and search for toshiba and click on them and you may find the webcam
also if it is the factory os then you should be able to go to:-
start programes or all programes toshiba/toshiba recovery/software
and re install the webcam if it is not working

you could always use skype to take photos with your webcam or download a free app ( desktop webcam )

My Satellite L505-S6946 DVD-CD drive keeps giving me a problem?

I keep getting an error message that the Mat**bleep**a DVD-CD is not being accessed by Windows because of a broken or corrupt registry error. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using Vista Home Premium Edition.

Jerry, I really appreciate the link but it did not solve my problem. I get a message that Windows cannot start hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry)is incomplete or damaged(Code 19). I also received a message that failure using VxD loader(Code 19). This is all useless info for my user level. The DVD-CD is a Mat**bleep**a DVD-RAM UJ880ES. Can you offer any other solutions. I uninstalled the device and tried a reboot with no success. Could I use the boot disk I created for Apps and Drivers to restore the device?

L505-S6946 HDD PARTITIONS @ WINDOWS VISTA

Hi everyone i need some help or plz correct me if im wrong.
Im using a L505-S6946 Satellite Toshiba, it came with vista home with only 1 partition, with the manage computer and shrink option (in the Disk Managment), i split in 2 partitions, but my problem is why de first partition where is vistas installed, boot partition, system. Why i cant modify (reduce or shrink) to less than 160gb ?
For example if a want my frist partition (where vistas will be installed) to be 80 gb, and a second partition for data storage, its this posible? HOW? with a 3rd app? I think its posible cause i installed vistas in machines with 80GB HDD.
All the help will be apprecited

It's because of some immovable files. See Additional considerations at this web page for details.
Shrink a Simple or Spanned Volume
It's easiest to use a third party manager. I used this free one.

New Motherboard Satellite L505

Have had to replace motherboard in Satellite L505-S6946 (free work; computer still under warranty). Sound, USB ports and web cam all failed together. Question is, is this PCI bus failure? What happened? Confused. Any hints please share.

Im a little bit confused about your posting... At first you talk about motherboard driver and then you ask for webcam driver
I never heard about mother driver, do you mean the chipset driver?
Anyway, as MasterG already wrote you can download all drivers for your notebook on official Toshiba website. Follow the link posted by previous user.

No web cam since windows 8 l505-s5988

I hope this is the best subforum for this (wasnt sure if this one or windows 8 subforum or another one).
I recently bought a really good Satellite l505-s5988 & had to put Windows 8 on it. Everything has seemed to work great except apparently the built in web cam is not getting recognized. When I went to device manager it only shows under imaging devices is a usb cam. I cant seem to find any drivers or info about it for if you are using windows 8. Any help please???

P.S. I know at least before installing windows 8, it did work. Not sure about if it ever has since windows 8

Hmmmm. Oh and the problem is that in Device Manager the built-in webcam doesn't show up at all in imaging devcices! All that shows is a usb cam driver. When I go to Camera like you normally would, it looks like its starting up (because has Camera Options, Change Camera, Timer, & Video icon buttons at bottom but it never loads a image or anything & then it says at top of page that There Is A Problem With The Camera.
This is the only thing we've had not work correctly so far on this with Windows 8 installed (which has been about a month & half of daily use. Other than this, this laptop runs EXCELLENT with 8 including when I go to PCpitstop & test it, it ranks in Everything in Top 40% at very lowest rating out of all the tests (most things rank much higher). We've been surprisingly impressed so far.

Also check the BIOS, on some models there is an option to disable the Webcam in the BIOS.
And also ensure Skype, Messenger, or other programs that use the webcam are not running, only one application can use the webcam at a time.

Web cam is not recognized properly on Satellite L500D

I have a Satellite L500D when I login in the web cam app pops up and say web camera initialization failed. Please check your camera device and restart application or computer.
I press ok and the app closes down so I checked the device manager and there were no camera devices.
I downloaded the driver twice and still can`t see the driver in the device manager area.

Thats pretty strange.
Is your notebook preinstalled with original Toshiba recovery image (factory state)?
Everything is possible and it can be defective cam but best way to find it out is to install OS again using Toshiba HDD recovery installation. After doing this you will have factory state again.
With factory settings every hardware component should work properly.
Do not install any additional software. After finishing OS installation check webcam functionality to see if the same will happen again. if there is the same situation contact nearest Toshiba service and explain the situation.

Satellite S70-A-11H web camera image quality is not good

Hi,
Running windows 8.1 which came with the laptop.
New out of the box.
As per title.
I find the image quality of the camera image to be very grainy, poor color etc.
When I start the web camera using the search bar on the right, it starts using the Microsoft application, when you scroll down to settings all that is available under settings/options is Photo aspect ratio, Grid lines, Location info.
I have been in touch with Toshiba Tech support who advised to do a Laptop refresh, which I did.
This made no difference.
After which they asked me to find the Toshiba web camera application on the laptop, this should have been in the Program Files folder in the Toshiba folder.
This application does not exist on my laptop.
The tech checked the same model laptop that he had available, which I was told when he selected the web camera, it opened using the Toshiba Web camera application, not Microsoft.
I have looked at other Toshiba laptops with web cameras, and found the image quality to be better. Unable to get to settings as these laptops were on display and in demo mode, hence locked down to some extent.
I can't believe that a web camera in this day and age for this value of laptop to have such poor image quality. My digital camera from 10year ago has better image quality.
I have checked through the laptop, and I do not have this application installed.
I have checked for updated drivers and software for my laptop, and cannot find this application to be applicable for my laptop. Drivers etc appear to be up to date.
I would like to know, do other users of this S series have any issue of camera image quality.
When the camera is selected what application is being used, Toshiba or Microsoft.
Is Toshiba web camera application applicable to Windows 8.1, as I cannot see it listed for 8.1
Does this sound like a hardware fault or a application/software issue.
Any direction or help on this matter would be appreciated, as I am getting to the point of returning this laptop for a refund.

The Toshiba webcam application is available for Win 7 system but the Win 8 and Windows 8.1 system use the own Microsoft webcam application.

Different Toshiba notebooks are equipped with different webcams.
Satellite S70-A-11H was equipped with a *0.92 mega pixel webcam*
A Satellite A660 for example was equipped with an _1.3M mega pixel webcam_
So there is a difference in webcam resolution

Cannot get web cam to function and cannot find anything on control panel to indicate how to do this - anyone help please.

Trying got get web camera to work, without success.
Apparently web camera initialization failed according to Toshiba Web Camera Application.

Check please BIOS settings. Under advanced > system configuration you can find option to enable/disable webcam. Check please if your webcam is enabled properly.

I have a Satellite T130 and, suddenly, the inbuilt web camera has stopped working properly. A blue light is on, but there is no image. What can I do?

the blue light is beside the web cam, on the top of screen. But this light is on when I try to use the web cam in anywhere, like Skype, Msn or even in programs in the computer that only take a pictue or make a video of you, without ineternet (I do not know the name of this program). But it seems that computer and the programs recognize the web cam, because there is no messages when I turn on the web cam.
In Skype settings is the same, there is nothing wrong, there is no different message. The only thing is when I try to take picture a message appears: "failed", but the video seems to record normally, although everythng is black.
Could you understand what I meant?

Satellite L650 - Web Camera Initializations Failed

Hello,
I have a Satellite L650. I have had it for just under 6 months and the other day, I turned on the computer to find the web cam pop up message saying "Web Camera Initializations Failed etc..." I have also noticed that the in built microphone too isn't working anymore.
I have uninstalled, and re installed the driver and it is still not working.
I was wondering if there is anyone who can help or has had the same problem?

Can you use the internal webcam with other applications like Skype?
Have you installed the correct webcam driver for Satellite L650?
What operating system you are using?
If you have already reinstalled the webcam driver I would recommend using CCleaner tool. This is a very nice freeware tool that can check your registry for old registry keys and delete them. So its nice cleaning software to enhance the performance a little bit and fix problems. Just use Google to find this program.

I have a new Satellite A660 with inbuiilt web camera, but there is no Toshiba software (as stated in the Manual) to run the web camera, nor the face recognition software.
I havent checked anything else yet but not in Programs directory and nowhere on the Start menu.
Any help as to where to find the software ?

I agree with Paolo30, if the webcam is available on this notebook, then an right software should be installed as well. Go to the Toshiba driver page and check for your model:

However, on my laptop I haven't installed any Toshiba webcam utility myself, Windows made it by default. And it runs..... Maybe, it will work better with original Toshiba driver but I don't use webcam at all.
