WEb camera initializtion failed in Satellite P750-114

Dear All,
I am facing a problem with the web camera in my Toshiba Satellite P750-114. The laptop is less than two months old and the web camera was working fine, then it suddenly stopped working. The error message is "Web camera initialization failed. Please check your camera device and restart application or computer". The Microphone stopped working as well, as it is related to the web camera device. The operating system is Windows 7 64bits. It seems that the operating system is not seeing that there is a webcam anymore. I tried the following things:
1- I uninstalled the web camera driver, downloaded the most recent driver from Toshiba website (the link is http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/supportMyProduct.do?service=UK) , and installed it, but it did not work.
2- I restored the original setting for the laptop, but still the web camera is not working.
Two ways I am using to test the web camera: the Skype and "Web Camera Application" from Start/Toshiba/Utilities
Please if someone has any idea on how to resolve this problem, the laptop is band new and it is fantastic, but this problem is annoying. I searched the Internet for similar problems, some Toshiba models suffer from this problem but not P750-114,
Please help
Bashar

Generally speaking, after recovery image installation all hardware components should be recognized and installed properly so with this factory settings everything should work as on the day after you purchased your notebook and started it for the first time.
If the cam doesn't work with factory settings I can imagine there is some hardware problem.
I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They can check cam functionality using their diagnostic tools and exchange cam if necessary.
Of course it will be covered by valid warranty.

  • Web Camera initialization failed. Satellite L655

i bought my laptop a month ago and got this message "web camera initialization failed. please check your camera device and restart application or computer"
    done reinstalling drivers
done disabling and enabling webcam on BIOS
my device manager doesnt detect any webcam, but it has a unknown device in the usb but theres nothing connected on my laptop when i checked on it it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Toshiba installed newer version of camera SW, one of possible reasons why it doesn't work properly, do full system recovery if after reinstalling device will still not work.

  • Satellite L650 - Web Camera Initializations Failed

    Hello,
I have a Satellite L650. I have had it for just under 6 months and the other day, I turned on the computer to find the web cam pop up message saying "Web Camera Initializations Failed etc..." I have also noticed that the in built microphone too isn't working anymore.
I have uninstalled, and re installed the driver and it is still not working.
I was wondering if there is anyone who can help or has had the same problem?
    Cheers,
    Dylan.

    Hi Dylan,
Can you use the internal webcam with other applications like Skype?
Have you installed the correct webcam driver for Satellite L650?
What operating system you are using?
If you have already reinstalled the webcam driver I would recommend using CCleaner tool. This is a very nice freeware tool that can check your registry for old registry keys and delete them. So its nice cleaning software to enhance the performance a little bit and fix problems. Just use Google to find this program.

  • Toshiba Portege Problem: *Battery is not charging and web camera initialization failed.*

    Hi,
I am having problems with my Toshiba Portege laptop. 1) Once laptop opens, window appears which says, "Web camera initialization failed. Please check your camera device and restart application or computer." Not sure what happened why the web cam application did not run properly. 2) Battery won't charge. When clicking the battery icon, it just says, "0% available plugged in, charging." I  can not open my laptop when the cord is unplugged.
Appreciate if you can help me or any advice.
    Thanks,

always good to tell what Portege and what system is running...
    anyway -
    to #1
an autostart process requests the camera, maybe Skype?
some web cams on USB ports do take some time
been initialised especially when attached via hub.
Windows boot sequences do not wait until they finished.
if the camera is working after a while than thats here the
case despite that message and it can be ignored.
    to #2
forget the software symbol for the purpose of the question -
on any notebook you should see a battery symbol/LED
somewhere on the case. its yellowish/orange when
charging green when battery is full.  if it doesn't change into green
(overnight charging) the battery is faulty or even missing...

  • Win7 install with multiple/all the FAILS! Satellite P750 (PART NO. PSAY3A-02T001)

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite P750 (PART NO. PSAY3A-02T001)
Installing: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64 bit)
Background: Laptop is around 2-3 years old now. Formatting and installing a fresh copy of Win7. Doing this for a close friend.
Issue #1: Using the "Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool" off the microsoft website, I attemped to install Win7 via USB drive (had so many issues before using this tool ). It boots to USB perfectly and starting going through the installation options. When it gets to "Where do you want to install Windows?"  (creating and seleting HDD partitions) I hit a major road-block!
p.s. USB in USB2.0 as I originally tried 3.0 and coudln't even make it that far....
I get the Error "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing systm partition. See the Setup log files for more information." Basically the Primary disk is created but the system disk wont.
p.s. The HDD still does show up and worked before this all. it's not a failed HDD.
I've tried (most of these were "Fixes" I found on forums that never worked):
    1. Creating different size partitions, multiple partitions, leaving GB's of "Unallocated Space" hoping it will create a system partition. Didn't work.....
    2. Formating the whole HDD using Command-line and wiping it completely clean. Honestly, this was stupid because now I cannot even go back! Didn't work.....
3.Changing BIOS settings and praying it will work. Most of the BIOS settings these fixes told me to change, aren't actaully on this Toshiba model. I even restart to default settings. Didn't work....
    4. Even tried a "load Drivers" fix I found. The fix asked for a SATA driver, but I got every driver just incase. Not a single driver even appeared on the "Select the driver to be installed" screen. Unticked the "hide drivers.." box also... So that didn't work either...
At this point I was pretty mad so I went and purcahsed some DVD-RW's to burn the ISO onto and try that instead.
Issue #2: Using the same tool as before, I installed Win7 onto a DVD. I then ran the DVD on my PC to test and the setup.exe showed up. I then put the DVD in the Toshiba laptop and using F12 to select "ODD        TSSTcorp CDDVDw TS-L633F" (the other options were "HDD/SSD, USB and LAN).
p.s. The DVD drive lights up and I can hear it reading the disc (normal slight humm).
    I then get:
    "Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 083)
    Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
This product is covered by one or more of the following patents:

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.
Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot Device and Press a key_"
To me, this is the LAN controller boot, but it didn't even read the disk.
I've tried (and again, most of these were "Fixes" I found on forums that never worked):
    1. Changing Boot priorities and settings. I even tried to disable LAN boot in BIOS (but you cannot on this model). Didn't work..
    2. Yelling at it and holding myself back from hitting it with a hammer. Still attempting..
    3. Praying to a higher power. Didn't work...
Ideas I have left that may work:
    1. Downloading and burning a different ISO. maybe even trying 32bit. (was 64bit before starting)
    2. Waiting for someone much smarter than me to reply on this post and help me!
    3. Telling my friend that "It's not my problem, while I run off into the sunset!"
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! This is doing my head in!
and yes, I've tried turning it off and on again

oh my **bleep**ing god...... I am so mad right now! 95% butthurt infact!
    MY RAGE IS STRONG!
Just found out off the owner that the DVD drive doesn't work..
SO! The DVD drive doesn't work and it seems like the only way to install Win7. I have a feeling that this model doesn't do USB very well....
will an external DVD drive work for this? or some I find someone with a toshiba that has the same model dvd drive inside and swap them for an hour while I do it...
or should I try LAN... havn't one LAN install in a home environment before..

  • Satellite P750-114 - booting up problems

I have a Toshiba P750-114 laptop that does not boot up from battery at all and will only boot from AC if it has been disconnected first and Ive depressed the power button for a few seconds to clear residual charge.
If I try to restart from sleep/hibernate or even shutdown but have left the power lead in from when it was previously running, I will only get the power on LED and the fan running, screen remains black.
If I remove the power, press the power button, plug AC adapter back in then press power button, it will boot up and run with no problems until it it shutdown again.
I tried powering up with a different tested battery and power supply but it apears to make no difference.
Ive read that the no display/fan & power working was a sign of motherboard failure so I had it checked over by a local laptop/PC repair shop (as the laptop is not in warranty) who found the touch panel ribbon was apparently causing a spark and that has been fixed, but they didnt find anything else and that fix hasnt actually changed anything with regards to booting the laptop up.
The laptop is running Windows 7 Home and has very few progams installed, but all software is geniune.
I'd really like to know what is causing the problem as although I can start it every time fine by following the shutdown-unplug-power on-plug in-power on routine, I want to find out if I'm just prolonging the inevitable collapse or is it ok/fixable?
Thanks all for any help you can give.

    > I'd really like to know what is causing the problem as although I can start it every time fine by following the shutdown-unplug-power on-plug in-power on routine, I want to find out if I'm just prolonging the inevitable collapse or is it ok/fixable?
I think if the repair shop guy could not say exactly what causes this issue, I doubt that someone here in the forum would be able to provide an 100% right opinion about this issue.
It does not look like battery or AC adaptor issue.
Therefore another part seems to be affected. There are no many parts which could cause such issues: RAM or motherboard are mostly the parts which could cause such strange notebook problems.
P750 is not very old series, so warranty seems to be valid
I would recommend you to call the Toshiba authorized service center and explain exactly the issue. Maybe they could replicate this

  • Built in web cam has stopped working - Satellite A200

The built in webcam on my Satellite A200 stopped working yesterday and I dont know why. I have not installed any new software recently but it is not recognized when I use Skype or any other program. When trying to use the camera, an error tells me no camera is recognized or it is switched off.
I have uninstalled the driver and reinstalled several times but it has not helped.
Please, does anybody have any ideas? (OS Vista).

    Hi
Sorry but it is not easy to say what is wrong there. I recommend you to roll back OS to earlier time using system restore tool. I am pretty sure you will be able to use cam again.
I have cam on P200 and use it with Skype without any problems. I really hopr you will be able to solve this.
    Good luck!

  • Satellite P750-114 - Display driver stopped responding

Hi, i was playing a game called football manager and I suddenly recieved this message which took me back to the desktop.
'display driver stopped respinding and has recovered' 'Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernal Mode Driver, Version 2.67.44 stopped responding and has successfully recovered'
Any idea what this is and how it can be solved? I have recived this number of times whilst playing. could this mean the laptops faulty? thanks

    Hi naz90uk,
I wouldnt recommend installing the nVidia display drivers because they are not pretested on your notebook. That means your notebook could overheat and damage the hardware.
Even you have the newest Toshiba display driver I would try reinstalling it. At first remove the old display driver (control panel > uninstall a program) then restart your computer. Run a registry cleaner like CCleaner (Freeware) and remove old registry keys. Restart the unit again and now install the newest Toshiba display driver.
    Check this!!!

  • Web cam is not recognized properly on Satellite L500D

    Hi
I have a Satellite L500D when I login in the web cam app pops up and say web camera initialization failed. Please check your camera device and restart application or computer.
I press ok and the app closes down so I checked the device manager and there were no camera devices.
I downloaded the driver twice and still can`t see the driver in the device manager area.

    Hi
    Thats pretty strange.
Is your notebook preinstalled with original Toshiba recovery image (factory state)?
Everything is possible and it can be defective cam but best way to find it out is to install OS again using Toshiba HDD recovery installation. After doing this you will have factory state again.
With factory settings every hardware component should work properly.
Do not install any additional software. After finishing OS installation check webcam functionality to see if the same will happen again. if there is the same situation contact nearest Toshiba service and explain the situation.

  • Web camera fails to initialize, not in device manager

    Hi,
I have a Satellite L650D with Windows 7 'Home Prem' and have recent issues with my webcam. All was running smoothly for a year or more until one day this error message appeared " Web camera initialization failed. Please restart application or computer ".
I also had trouble on Sykpe with the camera failing mid-conversation then not loading at all. I have un-installed and re-installed Skype in the hope that it was the problem...unfortunately not. Then after searching through the forum and Toshiba's website, I checked my application and Device Manager and was not even able to locate the device, it is not listed.
I am more than happy to try anything to fix this problem ( although I am not very computer literate! ) and would really appreciate any advice anyone can offer!
    Many thanks =)

How do I access my Toshiba Web Camera-HD on my Satellite C50-B series laptop? It's in the device manager file and shows that  it is working properly. Your help would be much appreciated.

    Hi
    Lilred,
I agree with Cyber_Defend_Team .To use a web cam ,we usually need to run
an application. If there is not a preinstalled application, you may consider to download an application .

  • Web camera initialization error

I have a toshiba L650 model psk2cu-13r02c laptop.  I am getting the message "Web camera initialization failed.  Please check camera device and restart camera or application.  I have gone to the device manager and disable the device and restart the computer.  This did not solve the issue.  I have down loaded the drive tc30049700n.exe for the web camera and run this rebooted and I am still getting this error message.  Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get my web camera to work?

If you did a Toshiba Recovery to your unit's out-of-the-box settings, and you still have no webcam appearing in Device Manager, it's safe to assume it's failed. Turn your laptop over, from the Toshiba label on the bottom, carefully copy down  your serial number.
    Call customer support:
Customer Support in the United States
    Computers: (800) 457-7777 (toll-free) or (949) 859-4273
You will get a Toshiba Tier 1 support 'tech'. This will in fact be some call center in the Philippines or India with a guy following a database of questions & instructions. He will probably try to get you to run the Toshiba Recovery again. Stick to your guns. Flatly refuse. Politely but strongly tell him you just did a Toshiba Recovery to the factory default out-of-the-box settings and you're not doing another. Request a warranty service number authorization.
Depending where you live, you can take it to a Toshiba ASP, or send it in for depot service. If you can, I'd try the ASP method if I was you.
    Locate a Service Center
    Good luck.
