How to update the category_type column in WC_SURVEY table, by using the dc methods.

i have liltlle experince on webcenter.to customize webcenter taskflows you need to open jdev in customization mode and you can satrt working on customization of taskflow(not sure data controls can be customized)

Does anybody have oracle web center new features demo?
It will be great, If you can share it.
Documentation states that, It has features like below:
New capabilities to operate on multiple assets efficiently, including bulk deletion, approval, and bookmarking. These operations are conveniently available from search results screens. Operations can be executed by selecting multiple assets and pressing a single button.
But I can not perform bulk delete asset.

Jdeveloper version corresponding to web center version

i checked web center version on my server is: 11.1.1.4.0
[using select version from wc_repository_version query after logging into webcenter schema]
just wanted to confirm which jdev version will be suitable to build applications for this webcenter version?

3. shall we upgrade webcenter version to 11.1.1.6? will there be licensing issues? and more importantly, what advantages are with 11.1.1.6 version?

You should always be in line with the version numbers.
When you use WebCenter 11.1.1.4, you should use JDev 11.1.1.4,
When you use WebCenter 11.1.1.6, you should use JDev 11.1.1.6 etc.
The version number of WebCenter might be misleading at times.
Could you check the version number with the About page (if using spaces)
The enterprise manager (...:7001/em) might report 11.1.1.4.0 when in fact the WebCenter version is 11.1.1.6
New features of WebCenter Spaces are described here
Lot of these features apply for your custom application as well.
It's always advisable to upgrade to the latest release as more bugs will be fixed.

Web Center Links Service

I am working on a Fusion Application that has the following requirements:
1. Links between Fusion Business Objects. For example, link a Fusion Srevice Request Object to another Fusion Service Request Object or to a Fusion "Solution" object.
2. Link from WebCenter resources to Fusion Business Object. For example, link a a Web Center discussion thread to Fusion Service Request object.
3. Link from fusion Business Object to WebCenter resources. For example, link a Fusion Service Request object to a Web Center discussion thread.
Can WebCenter Links service meet all the 3 requirements above? Based on the WC guide shown below, it seems that Fusion Buiness Object (i.e. a Service Request VO) can NOT be a link "to" target for the Links Service.

For what it is worth: that is my impression as well as experience to. At least the add link dialog does not allow you to select a custom Business Object. You may be able to customize the taskflow that contains that dialog in order to add such functionality. And you may be able to directly access the underlying Links data store through a dialog of your own making.

Web clipping- missing customize button

Hi everyone,
I use 11.1.1.7 version of jdev. I have a web center application, I want to customize some pages by using web clipping but when I log in the web center application, I can only see the Personalize button in action section of web clipping portlet, I cannot see the customize button, what should I do to be able to get Customize button? I appreciate for any idea.

500 Internal Server Error while deploying Web Center App

We have created a simple Web Center application in JDeveloper (10.1.3.2.0). Its runs fine when deployed on Stand Alone OC4J. We tried to deploy the same target .EAR (After following the steps mentioned in Oracle Web Center Documentation) on Oracle Web Center Suite 10.1.3.2.0 (Pre-Configured OC4J_WebCenter ). We ran the Pre Deployment to transform the Generic .EAR to Target .EAR with MDS path.
We got the following exception when testing index page (i.e. index.jspx)

I am trying to deploy application in Web center Spaces using ant script .
I am able to deploy it if i keep these two files in local machine .

Installation error in Oracle Web Center 11.1.1.3.0

Hi,
I have downloaded the ofm_wc_generic_11.1.1.3.0 from OTN.
I installed the WLServer successfully. While trying to install Oracle Web Center 11.1.1.3.0 I am getting the below error.
Do I need to install Web Center Suite 11.1.1.2.0?
Is there any sequence to install?
Please help me.

How To associate a default Template with an asset in web center sites 11g

In previous versions we could associate a template with an asset, in the edit mode of the asset and that template would be used to render that asset when previewed.
How can we do that in Web center Sites 11 g so that we don't have to select it again and again.

You should still have that option, in the Contributor UI when you edit or inspect an asset beneath the asset name is a drop-down box to select the default Template for this asset.

Issue in upgrading from Fatwire 7.6 to web center sites 1.1.1.6

Patch upgrade from Fatwire 7.6 to Web Center sites 1.1.1.6 is failing while importing catalog elements. The database ping and csLogin test is successfully completed at 75 % of the installation. After that below mentioned exception is coming in logs which is causing installation failure. Please provide your valuable pointers to troubleshoot this issue.
Access to CATALOGDIRECTORY and ELEMENTDIRECTORY is verified. Both paths are correct with full access.

May be it is expecting wlserver_10.3 directory.
Can you try giving a link to one directory above wlserver_10.3 OR the complete path to wlserver_10.3 directory.
One of this should make the upgrade successful.

Web Center app with ADF Security - login problem

I have a custome Oracle Web Center app.
I have a page.html with an embedded login form posting to j_security_check. I've configured the ADF security policies to redirect to a JSPX on successful login.
When I try the correct username/password, I get redirected not to the page I defined in ADF, but to the root page http://127.0.0.1:7101/MyApp-ViewController-context-root/
and i get
Error 403--Forbidden
I've checked the weblogic.xml as per http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2009/12/solving-error-403-forbidden-in-adf.html, all the required entries are there.
This works fine if i use a Login link with
destination="#{'/adfAuthentication?login=true&end_url=/faces/postLogin.jspx'} "
which redirects to the default login.html and then to the right page. I've copied the form from the default login.html into my master HTML page.
Hope my question is clear. Any suggestions why it is going to the wrong URL after login.
Is there anything specific I should see in the jazn-data.xml or web.xml regarding the post-login URL since i cant see that in either.

I'm trying to do away with a Login link, and trying the simple login form embedded in my page alongwith other content.
So should the form be posting to j_security_check directly or to the adfAuthentication ?

Ah so when you try to access a JSPX page it works but when you try to access an HTML page it does not work?
I can't see what the problem could be if it works for a JSPX but not for an HTML. Perhaps something with the filters in the web.xml
Maybe you should ask this at the ADF forum: JDeveloper and ADF
The guys there have way more understanding about this stuff than here.

Drag-and-drop in Web Center 11g

I'm running the Avitek sample portal on JDev 11.1.1.3 with Web Center on integrated WLS.
Is it possible to enable drag-and-drop of portlets within the page layout - by an end-user?
I understood this was a feature available in Web Center and not in WLPortal - so has anyone got this working?

Webcenter supports drag and dropping of portlets out of the box. You don't need to do anything special to enable drag and drop of portlets.
The only requirement there is, is that users are logged in and they have granted personlization rights.

1) Oracle Portal is the Portal product that was deployed together with the application server before weblogic server. It is still used a lot for corporate intra and extranets. It is mosly used for intranets and extranets. When you bought the licence for the application server you automaticly had the licence for Oracle Portal. That's why it is so popular.
Oracle portal is not realy standard based. You mostly will create portlets with PL/SQL or PDK and not realy use the JSR168 standard.
No with Oracle Portal 11g you can consume JSR168 portlets using WSRP.
2) Oracle WebCenter suite is the next strategical choose of oracle in portal software. Webcenter is an enterprise 2.0 portal environment while oracle portal is more web 1.5 and has limited web 2.0 stuff. Oracle Portal comes with a complete UI for the user to use to create websites and groups but webcenter is more a framework to incoorporate enterprise 2.0 features into your own fusion web application. Webcenter framework is a powerfull framework to create complete enterprise 2.0 sites.
3) The difference... Oracle Portal is an old product and will not be developt anymore. I've heard portal 11g will be the last version meaning support will stop at 2014. Webcenter is a new product to create state of the art enterprise 2.0 websites.
Oracle portals is not build on standard and is not realy standardbased meaning is you develop portlets for portal you will not be able to use them in other portals.
Webcenter on the other hand is completly standard based. It is JSR168 compliant and in the near future it will also support JSR286.
Oracle portal is PL/SQL based while webcenter is completly java based, based upon the ADF framework from oracle.
Because WebCenter is based upon the ADF framework you can use the complete ADF framework for your application. For example consuming webservices are very easy in webcenter. If you are using a service oriented architecture you will have lots and lots of work to integrate it with portal. With webcenter this is peace of cake.
