Web Channel Next Gen ?

Hi,
Does anyone has some informations about the next Web Channel application ? based on NW 7.2 ? Will it be released in June 2010 ?
Thanks,
Maxime

I just find a new name for this new application in the "SAP's release strategy for Large Enterprises".
It is written :
     Core Application SAP CRM :
          -> Supplementary Applications :
                    Name : SAP Web Channel Experience Management
                    Version : 1.0
                    Based On : SAP NW CE 7.2
                    Released : June 2010

  • The next gen BT Vision HD box - 2012

    Hi,
    The next generation BT Vision HD/Youview box is planned for release in 2012. Thats good news for everyone.
    But there has been some debate on this forum as to the nature of what form this box will take and what services it will offer.
    I have debated it will offer Freeview HD viewing and recording facilities (basically a Freeview HD PVR) with additional IPTV streamed live HD TV channels.
    Others have debated no, it won't. The HD element/HD TV channels will be purely offered over BTs new up-coming super-duper future CDN multicast internet network. That is, pure IPTV HD, where the new box will NOT include a Freeview HD PVR.
    Now, after reading the two articles below, it might be true. Or if not true, possible...
    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/05/30/bt_to_embrace_iptv_during_broadband_network_upgrade/
    “It’s too expensive renting DVB-T multiplex space to deliver Sky Sports to BT Vision customers, so we want to send it multicast.”
    "That would mean an almost unlimited number of IPTV TV channels could be launched through BT, all of them with a signal good enough to show on a connected TV screen, indistinguishable from broadcast TV quality, up to HD and beyond".
    And if it is, Opps for TopUpTV...
    http://gonedigital.net/2011/05/30/bt-goes-multi-cast-%E2%80%93-awkward-for-topuptv/
    Internet TV Multicasting -
    "That’s much more efficient, which in turn means more channels can potentially be offered that way too. Upgrading their network to multi-cast can save BT money on the broadcasting of Sky Sports, without compromising the quality – it may even increase it, given how squeezed pictures are on Freeview at times. And it also makes it much easier for them to offer extra live channels too, so they can fight harder against Virgin and Sky, which may bring increased competition in pay TV around the UK".
    So, a Youview box on the Youview platform, offering a Freeview HD PVR with HD IPTV on any multicast ISP you choose to use, or...
    A next gen BT Vision pure IPTV HD TV box that will give you access to all the other Youview services.
    If the above is true, that could be a difficult choice...
    Thoughts anyone?

    I think the key to this is this part of my first post -
    Internet TV Multicasting -
    "That’s much more efficient, which in turn means more channels can potentially be offered that way too.
    So BT will only have to buy the rights to show Sky Sports, without having to pay the millions it costs to rent two Freeview HD channels to show it. That should mean less cost to us, the customer. Thats got to be good news.
    Say, Freeview SD Sky Sports 1&2 alongside IPTV HD Sky Sports 1&2. Maybe. Or would they just show it over the net?
    As Guv said above, if your BB line were to go down... Oh Err!
    EDIT - Oh, another bonus I've just thought of - The millions BT will save could also bring with it improved content. Lets face it, that Film Club line-up really does need improving. And with a few HD films thrown in too.
    Rank - Mostly Harmless.

  • Exception while creating a Template in Web Channel B2B

    Hi,
    We have deployed Web channel B2B solution in Netweaver 7.3.  All Our SCA versions are 7.33.
    In standard application I am getting below exception while trying to create Order Template.   It seems that this exception related to the new Java Persistence management EJB layer.  I have found one SAP Note 0001791501.  But, SCA's which we deployed are already in higher version(7.33) than the advised in the note.
    In custom application also we are getting same exception even though we have maintained the correct dependencies
    SAP-SHRJAV ->crm/isa/basketdb and SAP-SHRWEB -> crm/isa/web/b2b and SAP-SHRWEB -> crm/tc/web/core to the custom application.
    Order creation is working fine.
    Any clues or SAP Notes will be greatly appreciated.   We have raised this issue to SAP, but I am posting here to get quick response if anyone got similar issue.

  • Difference in JRE 1.6.0_14 Classic Plug-in & JRE 1.6.0_14 Next Gen Plug-in

    Using the "Next Gen Plug-in", when a method argument is passed as a "blank" from Javascript to Java, it is treated as NULL in Java, whereas if we use "Classic Plug-in", there is no change to the argument value and a blank argument is always treated as a blank in Java.
    This "Next Gen Plug-in" is causing problem in our Application as "blank" value is treated as NULL when passed from javaScript to Java, thus throwing Null Pointer Exception.
    Any idea to come out of this...

    Our Application is standalone browser based (IE 6.0) application which communicates between JavascScript to Java using Applet. Below is the code snippet which gives problem when passing a blank value from java script to Java using Next Gen Plug-in -
    JavaScript code -
    var state = document.PrimaryInsured.DeliveryState.value;
    The above code takes the value from a dropdown into variable 'state' and then calls the below Java method GetMaxJuvenileAge() with string parameter-
    var juvenileAge = GetEALifeJavaUtils().GetMaxJuvenileAge(state);
    Java code -
    public int GetMaxJuvenileAge(String state)
    if(state.equals("ABC"))
    return 15;
    else
    return 16;
    Now when variable state is blank (e.g. "") in javaScript and same is passed to java method then, java method take this value as blank when use 'Classic Plug-in' which is correct.
    However when use 'Next Gen Plug-in' value comes in Java as null and we get null pointer exception in java.
    We checked in javaScript that value is blank (not null) as state.length returns 0. So please help me in resolving this...

  • Problem with Customer Interaction Module in Web Channel Builder

    Hello Everyone,
    Facing an issue with Web Channel Builder Customer Interaction Module.
    In Web channel builder we have done all the required configuration changes, but still we are not able to get the reviews and rating part in the product detail page.
    We have created a new application and all the other module are working fine ,but the only module that is causing problem is Customer Interaction module. Every time we are activating this module rest modules stops working.
    Can anyone please let us know what could be the root cause of this problem.
    Are  there any setting that has to be done ...that we are missing in?
    I have studied that Product Catalogue is integrated with this module. Are there any setting that are to be done in the Product Catalogue module in Web channel builder?
    Thanks in advance!

  • New features and enhancements in Web Setrver next release

    I would like to encourage all Web Server users to let us know if there are any new features they would like to have in our Web Server next release.
    - Web Server team

    Hi,
    Well to manage my customers I use a control panel which lets them install php applications and etc.
    The initial setup can be replaced to setup the Virtual servers for Sun Webserver, but alsmost every php script seems to target apache.
    For example, Wordpress comes with it's own .httaccess file which will set the rewrite configuration for "pretty" URL's
    I'll just include one of mine...
    # BEGIN WPSuperCache
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    AddDefaultCharset UTF-8
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} !POST
    RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !.*=.*
    RewriteCond %{HTTP:Cookie} !^.*(comment_author_|wordpress_logged_in|wp-postpass_).*$
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} !^.*(Android|2.0\ MMP|240x320|AvantGo|BlackBerry|Blazer|Cellphone|Danger|DoCoMo|Elaine/3.0|EudoraWeb|hiptop|IEMobile|iPhone|iPod|KYOCERA/WX310K|LG/U990|MIDP-2.0|MMEF20|MOT-V|NetFront|Newt|Nintendo\ Wii|Nitro|Nokia|Opera\ Mini|Palm|Playstation\ Portable|portalmmm|Proxinet|ProxiNet|SHARP-TQ-GX10|Small|SonyEricsson|Symbian\ OS|SymbianOS|TS21i-10|UP.Browser|UP.Link|Windows\ CE|WinWAP).*
    RewriteCond %{HTTP:Accept-Encoding} gzip
    RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/wp-content/cache/supercache/%{HTTP_HOST}/$1/index.html.gz -f
    RewriteRule ^(.*) /wp-content/cache/supercache/%{HTTP_HOST}/$1/index.html.gz [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} !POST
    RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !.*=.*
    RewriteCond %{HTTP:Cookie} !^.*(comment_author_|wordpress_logged_in|wp-postpass_).*$
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} !^.*(Android|2.0\ MMP|240x320|AvantGo|BlackBerry|Blazer|Cellphone|Danger|DoCoMo|Elaine/3.0|EudoraWeb|hiptop|IEMobile|iPhone|iPod|KYOCERA/WX310K|LG/U990|MIDP-2.0|MMEF20|MOT-V|NetFront|Newt|Nintendo\ Wii|Nitro|Nokia|Opera\ Mini|Palm|Playstation\ Portable|portalmmm|Proxinet|ProxiNet|SHARP-TQ-GX10|Small|SonyEricsson|Symbian\ OS|SymbianOS|TS21i-10|UP.Browser|UP.Link|Windows\ CE|WinWAP).*
    RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/wp-content/cache/supercache/%{HTTP_HOST}/$1/index.html -f
    RewriteRule ^(.*) /wp-content/cache/supercache/%{HTTP_HOST}/$1/index.html [L]
    </IfModule>
    # END WPSuperCache
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>
    # END WordPress
    </IfModule>Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Sun Web server .htaccess limited to just access control?
    I know that you can pretty much accomplish the same things in Sun Webserver, but I would have to manually change this configuration for every user

  • Loyalty Program in Web Channel

    Dear Experts,
    Currently as what i'm aware of, we basically need to add the Loyalty Program in the Web Channel B2C shop as the administrator to allow this particular Loyalty Program to be available for enrollment by the customer in the webshop. With this, the customer is also able to go to the the link "My Campaigns" to view the list of Loyalty Campaign that she/he has enrolled in. In "My Trasanctions", the customer can view the points that have been acrrued/redeem and points balance.
    However, we now have a requirement where we have MORE than one Loyalty Program eg: "Loyalty Program for Retail" and "Loyalty Program for Govement Rebate". Both of these Loyalty Program are different and have different point type and requires different membership enrollment.
    Is it possible to include MORE than one Loyalty Program in the Web Channel so that when the customer logins to the Webshop, the customer is able to see both the Loyalty Program eg: "Loyalty Program for Retail" and "Loyalty Program for Govement Rebate" with different points account seperately???
    Appreciate your prompt reply.

    CRM Loyalty requires software component CRMLOY in the CRM server (ABAP stack)
    B2C application has to be deployed with rest of the CRM Java applications in NW J2EE server (Java stack)
    Ask your Basis team, for all of the above.
    You have to turn the feature on in B2C web application, XCM administration.
    In the Web shop, (B2C)
    1. Consumers can opt to sign-up in the Loyalty program during consumer registration
    2. With in the web shop, the registered consumers can see the available campaigns and also transactions (orders0 they have made with those campaign ids. Loyalty program --> My Transactions and * Loyalty Program --> My campaigns*
    3. The consumers can Redeem Points
    4. They can also Buy points

  • Are ERP Sales Orders supported for B2C Web Channel Scenario in CRM 7.0?

    Hi Experts,
    We are on CRM 7.0 with ECC 6.0 as backend system.
    I just want to know whether the third party tax system (Vertex or Taxware) is mandatory for B2C WEB Channel implementation??
    Without using a third party tax system, how can we configure tax for B2C web orders?
    We have ERP sales order concept in 7.0. Will it support B2C scenario???
    Regards,
    vasu

    Hi Ram,
    -- Tax is configured in ECC using conditioni technique. They are not using any third party taxware/vertex system for this.
    -- R/3 pricing procedure is intended to use for B2C transactions in Web channel and the pricing procedure refers to tax calculations. Even in B2c also they want to continue with the ECC pricing procedure.
    -- The Requirement is to have pricing along with taxes and freight in the webshop, so that the consumers can pay the total amount using credit card as it is only the payment method available in the b2c Shop.
    in the document "CAUSTAX_4.0" it was mentioned that use of third party system is mandatory for B2C scenarios. The relevant text is copied below.
    As of CRM 3.1 and above, SAP provides a solution allowing you to use SAPu2019s jurisdictional tax method to calculate taxes.
    Note: The use of external tax systems remains obligatory for B2C scenarios. However, if you are calculating tax in other scenarios and do not use external tax systems, this solution is applicable.
    The solution consists of customizing changes in both R/3 and CRM. Even though you must make some changes in R/3, the basic process of calculating jurisdictional taxes remains the same. In CRM, the Transaction Tax Engine (TTE) calculates tax and you must configure it for the jurisdictional tax method.
    My question is can we configure taxes in B2c shop using ECC pricing procedure? If yes, please provide the high level process steps.
    thanks in advance

  • Adobe's take on CS6 performance on the next gen MBP

    Forgive me if I missed this, but being gutted they still haven't released a new Mac Pro (spec bumps released today don't count), I'm thinking of just getting a Next Gen MBP and work from there.  Does Adobe have an opinion on how it performs with CS6 particulaly related to Cuda acceleration and the Mercury Playback engine?  Will it do well with only 16GB of RAM and the internal 650M card?

    I'm not Adobe and don't speak for them.  What I say here is probably worth less than you paid for it.  However...
    Doing some thought exercises should pretty much answer your question.  Some things about the new MBP (which I intend to get, eventually) -
    1GB of VRAM.  MPE in hardware mode, assuming it works with the GT650M (and no reason to assume it won't) will be somewhat hobbled with only a Gig of VRAM.
    16G of RAM is probably enough but a bit on the tight side depending on what you're editing.
    Spinning media: using a laptop for your primary editing rig is always a challenge due to storage.  The new MBPs have 2 Thunderbolt ports which is nice, so you'd be encouraged to add external storage via those ports.  But doing so is going to cost you some serious $$.
    Can you do it?  I'd assume so.  Will it perform as well as a Mac Pro with a decent video card and a cubic f'load of RAM in it?  Probably not.  IMHO: I think you're foolish to walk away from the Mac Pro for PPro editing if you want to stay in the Mac world.  The new MBP laptops look superb, and after years of having cruddy displays on their 15" laptops, Apple has finally turned a weakness into a strength (2880x1800.. good grief!)  But, unless you start going nuts with Thunderbolt add-ons, the laptop is still going to be I/O-bound to some extent, and limited in what it can do from a video performance perspective.

  • Differences between eCommerce and Web Channel

    Hi.  I'm really new to SAP.  I'm looking at leveraging some of the built-in e-commerce functionality of SAP.  I've read a few articles on the SAP help site but I can't distinguish the differences between the following 2 solution options:
    1) ERP eCommerce
    2) CRM Web Channel
    From what I've read, both of the above technologies do relatively the same thing.  Can someone let me know if this is true, or if not, where I can find details on when to use one versus the other?
    Thanks!
    - Dylan

    Hi,
    please let me try to clarify this.
    Both of the solutions are actually based on the same Java web applications. This means both applications share the same core functionality. The main difference between ERP eCommerce and CRM Web Channel is the backend system used for the web shop.
    The reason why SAP offers two different backends for the web shop is pretty simple. Each backend is suitable for different requirements. While running the web shop with a CRM backend, some additional features related to the marketing functionality of SAP CRM are available. These addtional features include cross- and upselling, campaign management and advanced catalog management. For customers that don't need these marketing features or don't want to invest in a SAP CRM system, there is the ERP eCommerce solution. While the shop system is the same, some of the additional features offered in the CRM version are missing.
    I hope that solves the problem for now. If you have more questions on the difference between the two solutions please let me know.

  • JRE msi - how to disable next-gen plugin ?

    Is anyone familiar with a method to modify the JRE 6u13 msi's tables such that the next-generation plugin (and auto-update if possible) are disabled? Thanks for your time and attention in advance.

    btenney,
    Thanks very much for your suggestion. Can you explain what the parameters are on the ssvagent.exe that you noted -high -jpisetup -old? I can't seem to find any information on the parameters. Also, will this set the configuration just for the user logged on (current user) OR for all users existing and future?
    We are having trouble getting next-gen java shut off for all possible users that may logon to a machine in future .. thus looking at putting in bootup login script, but hoping there is a better way to have it take affect at the machine level. Or to at least automate at the user level (existing and future windows users/profiles)

  • Web Channel Guides

    Hi
    Is there any place where I can find the elearning or step by step guides for Web Channel
    Regards
    JM

    Hi John,
    There are e-Learning (RKT) materials availabile but requires customer access.  You may want to check internally for accessibility.
    You can also go to the service marketplace for web channel information:
    [https://service.sap.com/crm |https://service.sap.com/crm ] Then select SAP CRM 7.0 --> Web Channel.   The PDFs found here are comprable to what you would find in the RKT materials.
    For the technical guide, the "Development and Enhancement" guide is the place  to go.  You  can find that guide on the SAP service marketplace under 'instguides" (alias).  The guide can be found under SAP Business Suite Applications -> SAP CRM -> SAP  CRM 4.0 -> E-Commerce Installation Guides.  The way modifications are done has not changed dramatically at all from the 4.0 release to the current 7.0 release.
    Hope this helps.
    Deb
