Web conferencing issues, thanks

Hi,
I don't know how many of you have done a web conferencing system using JMF. I'm currently working on it but I have addressed some problems. I'd like to hear your suggestions.
The system uses C/S structure and the client uses WebStart. I tried the RTP solutions provided by Sun but I think they are more suitable for P2P.
1. For the video transmission, I capture the camera every 0.5 minute and save to JPEG photos. Then the photos are uploaded to the server. All the other member clients in the conference room download the photos and restore them into a movie. But in this solution there is time delay. Any better ones?
2. For the audio transmission, I have no idea how to do it...
3. Is it better to use a streaming server? I mean, what is the normal architecture for this kind of system? I've installed Darwin Streaming Server but I can't find a way to communicate with it via JMF. If there are some existing solutions, can you please give me the links or sample code?
4. I find that it looks like flash is more popular is this area. Is it possible to use flash in my Java client side? I read the document of Red5 but looks like the client is mainly web page.
Sorry I know I have too many questions here. I have done the research for almost two weeks but still get blocked. So I hope you can help me out here. Thanks in advance!
Alex in Sweden

The system uses C/S structure and the client uses WebStart. I tried the RTP solutions provided by Sun but I think they are more suitable for P2P.You can certainly use RTP for a client-to-server application. It's suitable for any kind of transport.
1. For the video transmission, I capture the camera every 0.5 minute and save to JPEG photos. Then the photos are uploaded to the server. All the other member clients in the conference room download the photos and restore them into a movie. But in this solution there is time delay. Any better ones? You stream the video via RTP to a server, and that server uses the incoming stream as the source for outgoing streams to all of the participants of the video conference...
2. For the audio transmission, I have no idea how to do it...My proposal for #1 handles audio as well.
3. Is it better to use a streaming server? I mean, what is the normal architecture for this kind of system? I've installed Darwin Streaming Server but I can't find a way to communicate with it via JMF. If there are some existing solutions, can you please give me the links or sample code? You do need a streaming server, but you can easily write your own for this application. It's what I like to call a "bounce server" because it just bounces the stream to whoever wants to see it.
4. I find that it looks like flash is more popular is this area. Is it possible to use flash in my Java client side? I read the document of Red5 but looks like the client is mainly web page.Ummmm, no. Red5 is a good freeware Flash Media Server that's capable of doing this video conference application. Adobe Flex is a free API you can use to develope desktop applications or web applications (and thus you would have a Flash-based application that would be running outside of a web browser, transmitting the A/V to the Red5/Flash Media server)

  • Web Conferencing

A user receives the following error after clicking on the link "Web Conferences" on the OCS Portal Page: ... "Internal Error.: OID connection misconfigured or other error detected. Please notify the system administrator. Click Login Again to access the application or click Contact Us to inform us of the problem you are experiencing." ....
However, if the user logs in using a different computer, he can login to the Web Conferencing application without any problems. The two computers that are involved in this scenario are set up identical, yet, one fails and the other is successful.
Hope that someone can give me some idea of what I am overlooking in the set up of the failing computer.
    Thank you.
    New OCS Admin in Michigan.

I suspect that the difference between the two computers is the network access. I think that the computer that is failing does not either have external (internet) or does not have direct access to the middle tier.
The parameter ApacheGlobalWebHost in the imeeting server should have the main url for middle tier or Load Balancer. The ApacheWebhost should have the Middle tier url as this is the url that you are being redirected to. If the second computer does not have direct access to that server then you would encounter this issue.
Also remember you have to have access to the infrastructure to be able to sign in and sso has to be setup properly to be able to access the imeeting application. This may be another cause of this issue.
    Try the url http://hostname:port/imtapp/app/prelogin.uix
If you are still having a problem open a SR to Support and have them diagnose the issue.
It is a place to start looking. ;)

  • Web Conferencing Console

O.k. I can't believe this isn't on forum or in Metalink.
Just got Web Conferencing up and so far have had 2 users unable to install the client console piece. I've gone through security settings and all that. They can install on their systems, so that shouldn't be a problem. Basically, everything the "New User" test recommends for that failing seems o.k. One is XP and the other W2k, buy my laptop is XP and it works.
    Any ideas?

If the other pcs that cannot donload the client are on the same network then your can ignore the informaiton below.
The problem that you are experiencing sounds to be a firewall issue on the remote site. This is common and is worked around by enabling https tunnelling on your web conferencing server. You will probably notice that the customers that are connecting successfully, to your web conferencing server may not be behind a firewall that only has ports 80 and 443 open.
Port 80 is the default http port and every company has this port open if they are on the internet. Port 443 is the default port for any https (SSL) communication and this also should be open on every companies firewall or they would not be able to view secured sites.
So how do you enable https tunnelling on your web conferencing server?
You will need to review the online documentation.

5.6 Configuring Ports and Network Connectivity
This chapter will describe how to enable mod_imeeting. This is the module that will allow users to connect to your web conferencing server even if they are behind a secure remote firewall.
If you have any problems configuring https tunnelling you should open a TAR and have Oracle Support Services assist you in making https tunnelling work for you .

  • Web Conferencing on a Mac

I have scoured the documents, forums, etc. and cannot find a definitive answer. Is Web Conferencing on a MAC supported in the lastest version of OCS?
    Thanks,
    Catherine

I have an Macbook Pro (Intel) machine. I tried using it with Safari but it gives an error that the browser is not supported. It requires Netscape of IE. IE is not available or supported on X Tiger, so Netscape was the only option. There are many issues using Netscape with any Java Applet on Mac, so I decided to try Opera which works fine with most Java Applets because it has IE and Netscape emulation and comes with Java support built in. With Opera, the Applet starts to load then gives an error RCC something. Short answer, it seems Windows is a must.

  • Application doesn't update in web conferencing

I tried to share a graphics application, ProductView, in Web Conferencing. It worked at first, but the graphics portion does not update at the shared sites.
This product probably uses Open/GL to display its graphics. Is there a limitation in Web Conferencing application sharing?
    David

The problem was I forgot to include one of the .jar files in the .jnlp file. The application started but immediately finished because it couldnt find the second jar. Java console has the same behavior and this is why I couldnt see the message in the console.
    Thank you anyway!

  • Upgrade to ECC6 & Unicode: IE Web Browser Issues?

Has anyone experienced web browser issues at display time? We are on IE7. We are now using the internal ITS. Our carriage returns are totally being ignored by the browser. Thus, we have a dropdown box to pick one of the businesses multiple partners, and because the HTML is not formatted correctly in the browser, the dropdown doesn't work, and we get an "array not created" error messsage in IE7.
I know that there are options in the IE 7 browser under the menu item "view". I've tried changing these to some different Unicode settings, but without luck.
Has anybody some experience with this issue?
        Thank-You

    Hi Tim,
this might be problem with Support package, by default Sap neweaver 2004s application comes with SP6, u can upgrade to higher SP to solve these type of problems.patch your system up to SP12 or SP13 and try.

  • Guest Anchor - Web Passthrough - Apple device web redirect issue

    Hi All,
I've setup a Guest Mobility Anchor at DMZ with 5508 WLC. I've setup the EoIP mobility tunnel and everything works so far.
Now, I was testing multiple clients to connect to the Guest SSID and observed that Apple devices are not redirecting url, resulting unsuccessful connection.
I looked Cisco docs and added the command "config network web-auth captive-bypass enable" on the Anchor as recommended.
Even after executing the command, I'm still facing web redirect issue with Apple Devices. I don't have any issues with other devices, except Apple.
My controller running code AirOS 7.6.130.0. I'm using DMZ controller as DHCP server for Guests and public DNS servers as 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4
How to solve this web redirect issue? Will a Third-party generated CSR solves the problem?
    Thanks,
    CJ

    Hi All,
The issue was with WISPr Protocol with iOS Clients. After upgrading the AirOS Code on the controller to 8.0.100.0; the issue with Web Redirect is resolved.

  • Web Conferencing Using JTAPI - Need help

    Hi,
I have to work on "Web Conferencing" application, but i don't have any idea how this can be done in Java.
I heard that, JTAPI can be used for this purpose.
Please tell me anyone, is it possible to do Conferencing type of application using JTAPI.
If so what are the Requirements for that?
Do we need to use any specific kind of telephone devices??+
Give me some idea how to begin with this, and any source where i can get all the details about this.
    Thanks for any help.....

  • Necessary ports for Web Conferencing in Oracle Collaboration Suite

    Hi everybody!
What ports are necessary for opening to ensure the functioning with Web Conferencing in Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g (on a computer of the client and a server)
Thanks a lot for your helps.

    Hi,
If it's all configured properly on the server, you'll only need whatever port is configured for SSL on the middletier webserver (standard is 443) for actually running the conference - the web application used for scheduling etc. might use a different port but would usually be the same in a well configured environment.

  • Web conferencing and proxy

    Hi,
is there an option to define a proxy while using beehive web conferencing? I don't see this option in the conferencing.cfg.
    Thanks,
    Stephane.

Well, I am still right in what I'm saying :) : the question has not been labelled "external attendees access" or "is HTTPS tunneling available" !
If you are ready to use a DMZ instance and open some ports, you don't need a proxy to open your web conference server to people on the internet. That's a usage of web conferencing that makes sense.
And more that that, and this is my opinion, considering HTTPS is the
universal solution for network security is a mistake. it's a door open
to anything that's encrypted, and people consider it's safe because of
that. Some engineers invented protocols to make sure that the trafic is
properly identifed, the "all in HTTPS" paradigm is just a denial of
    common sense in security ...
Of course, HTTPS tunneling is still a useful option, but not the best IMHO.

  • Lync 2010 : Using same FQDN and IP address for SIP access Edge, Web Conferencing Edge, A/V Edge

    Hi Friends,
    Please assist on below query.
Will it possible to use the same FQDN in Lync Edge? Since it has different Port numbers for each service, one public IP  for all FQDN for access will save me purchasing multiple Certificates for SANs
    FQDN
    IP Address
    Port
    Map to
    Sip.domain.com
    12.34.34.34
    5061 (TLS)
     SIP Access Edge
    Sip.domain.com
    12.34.34.34
    444(TLS
    Web Conferencing Edge
    Sip.domain.com
    12.34.34.34
    443(TCP
    A/V Edge
I have a wildcard SSL purchased already and for this purpose I need to purchase more certificates per SAN if unique FQDN required.
    Thank You.

Yes, although a wildcard entry only will not work entirely for all Lync clients and versions.
I would suggest something like this:
    Edge External
    CN: sip.domain.com
    SAN: sip.domain.com, webconf.domain.com
    Reverse Proxy Listener(s)
    CN: lyncwebexternal.domain.com
    SAN: lyncwebexternal.domain.com, *.domain.com
The wilcard entrty can replace the SimpleURLs (meet, dialin) but some clients (like any Lync Phone Edition devices prior to the June 2012 firmware) do not support wildcard entries so providing the external web services FQDN is required.  also never
put the wildcard etry in the Common Name as devices/client that do not support wildcard entries may be tripped up there and then never even look at the SAN field.
A cheaper alternative (although not typically recommended, this does work) would be to use a single certificate for both servers, like this:
    Edge/RP Combo Cert
    CN: sip.domain.com
    SAN: sip.domain.com, webconf.domain.com, lyncwebexternal.domain.com, *.domain.com

  • Web Conferencing Compatibility service not installed on Lync 2013

Hi I recently deployed Lync 2013 and have moved a handful of users. I’ve noticed that the Web Conferencing Compatibility service is not listed in my list of services. I have enabled
Web Conferencing in the Topology; the Web conferencing service itself is there. I can telnet to port 8057 but obviously not to 8058. Without this I’m guessing users on Lync 2010 cannot connect to a web conference hosted on the new pool (once simple URLs are
updated to point to the new Front-End). Can anyone advise why it may not have been installed and a suggest a solution; maybe it could be rectified by re-running the Lync Server Components install from the Deployment Wizard?
    Thanks.
